Thanks Karrie, good idea for a thread title. I like it! Sounds like your director needs you and wants you back full time. That's a compliment to your skills. I have often said I have spent my entire career making myself indispensable to my employers, and now all I want is for them to dispense with me now and then.
So, welcome to September y'all. Sensible sounds good. Keep it real, do your best, don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm exhausted. I spent the long weekend staying up way too late. I was trying to get a gift knit up for a friend of ours. He's having cancer treatment right now, and we're watching his pet bunny. He was going to pick up said bunny last night. So I was trying to make him a hat just as quick as can be so he could try it on when he came. Seriously; I was up until 3am on Sunday night!!
As it turns out, he's not doing very well and we're watching the bunny for a few more days. But at least the hat is done!! (And at least it's a short work week....)
(He's a big star wars geek)

Hi Karrie, sorry about your friend battling cancer, but what a great hat! It seems like the hat should make him more powerful.
My new OSG cookbook came today. I read a bit at lunch, then came home and delved a bit deeper, I already have like 20 post-its marking recipes lol.
I actually had a decently ETL day today woohoo! Smoothie with lots of fresh greens, a cup of hemp milk, a tablespoon of chia seeds, maybe 1/4 of a frozen banana, and half a scoop of Vega protein and greens. Lunch was a big salad with spring mix, carrots, sunflower seeds, nooch, and balsamic. No snacks today which is a big victory. I've really struggled with snacking lately. Dinner is going to be a veggie sandwich with avocado, lettuce, cucumber and tomato and a little dijon on Dave's Killer Wheat Bread. I finally stumbled across the Dave's bread that I have heard so much about. It's really good. Watermelon for dessert.0 -
Karrie, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. That hat is awesome. Fantastic job of it! I hope it lifts your friend's spirits and puts a smile on his face.
How exciting to have a copy of the new OSG cookbook, Mihani! I want it, but I totally don't deserve it right now. I've been waaaay off track with my food. Most of my trouble is coming from not wanting to put the time in to cook meals at home. We've been going out or getting frozen ready made food. I have so many things I want to do, and many other things that I have to do, so my somewhat optional meal planning and prep is suffering. I know it CAN be done because you do it Mihani! You are busier than snot and still each much better than me on your worst day than I do on my best.
I have to re-prioritize things and start cooking meals. My MIL and SIL are coming out for a visit at the end of October and I don't want to be this fat when they come! We only see them about once a year. All of my clothes have gotten tight while I've been munching away on bad food and wearing stretchy capris and long tops. Yeesh.
For 'Sensible in September' (great title!), I'm going to cut dairy back out of my diet and work on making improvements every day.
Plan for today:
b - blueberry oatmeal w/ walnuts (forgot to add my chia seeds, darn!)
l - salad from the garden with fig vinegar, slice of bread with nut butter
d - stir fried whatever-is-in-the-fridge-that-hasn't-gone-bad on some brown jasmine rice (I have the recipe for that if anyone is interested)
0 -
I don't do a lot of variety sometimes Carla, the more simple I keep it the better I do. When I have to spend too much time cooking I start to get frustrated and feel like it's too much work. I do plan to spend some time trying a few recipes from the new cookbook this weekend though. I don't think I've ever had brown jasmine rice. I love your stir-fry description lol.
B - smoothie same as yesterday
L - steamer bag of broccoli with nooch, an apple, a handful of soy nuts
D - veggie sandwich (cucumber, yellow pepper, tomato, romaine, dijon on Dave's Killer 21 whole grains and seeds bread), watermelon
NO snacks again today. Yay! I hope in another few days I'll have the cravings back under control.
Also did just like 10 minutes of yoga last night, felt great (but man was I stiff ugh) ... going to do it again tonight after I work on some files I brought home.

Hi guys
Happy Thursday. Sounds like everyone is doing well, even though none of us think we are doing well! It's funny how that works.
Karrie, sorry to hear about your friend but your hat is beautiful!!! I'm sure he will be so appreciative. Once again, wish I had those talents. How has swimming gone? I ordered a bathing suit so I'm going to sign up this weekend! Ahhhhhh. How were your kids going back to school?
Mihani, I do agree re simpler the better, but I get sick of things so easily sometimes. I think less variety is btter though, you don't have the same temptations. Your bread sounds yummy! I am still keeping up with the yoga too and I do feel better about it, even mentally. I sort of look forward to it now just because it feels like something peaceful lol.
Carla, you always seem to be doing great but we are our own worst critics! You TOTALLY deserve the new OSG cookbook!! It's delicious food AND supposedly simpler recipes AND it doesn't feel like diet food to me. Maybe it'll provide some motivationI just ordered it as well actually, sort of crept up. It felt like the launch was forever away that I didn't realize it had passed! I'm anxious to flip through it as well.
I had a definite pig and drinks fest this weekend which was an extended birthday party. But the plus was that I am OVER ice cream cravings and all I want is some healthy food. That said, I still had some mega potato chip cravings and stuff, but I actually want to eat better now, so I'm on a giant two day roll, lol. Does that even count?! I haven't been sleeping much but it's already Thursday which is a nice surprise!0 -
*pig and drink meaning that I was the pig eating and drinking, not that I had any pig! Lol1
-
Hi Lia! Sounds like you have a solid start back on track. The yoga really helps me with stress and all the tension in my neck and shoulders. Sounds like a fun weekend!
Still super busy at work and can't wait for the weekend to do some more catching up. Yes I know, I said I was going to take a weekend off, but I feel like I'm making a tiny bit of headway and I want to see if I can't get things a bit closer.
B - smoothie same as yesterday
L - steamer broccoli and cauliflower with nooch and balsamic, an apple
D - BBQ tofu, salad, baked potato
I think eating light and same ol' for breakfast and lunch then having a tasty dinner is working out well for me.0 -
I haven't started swimming yet - the kids' classes don't start until the end of the month.
It's been a hectic week - the kids are EXHAUSTED when they get home from school. Tired, emotional, hungry and grumpy. It's getting better - last night there was only a little fighting and tears, but the first 2 days back were BRUTAL!
I'm with you, Mihani - keeping it simple keeps me on track. When I start cooking too much it definitely feels like work, and then I get overwhelmed.
Right now, I've been going off the rails with my eating. Way too many carbs again. So my plan this weekend is to get groceries - just veggies that I can eat raw. I'm going to wash them and cut them and portion them for lunches for the week. Then I'm going to make some hummus and bam; lunches for the week will be done. Then I think I'll just make a soup for suppers (with salads). Oh yes, and some overnight oats for breakfasts. Easy meals. Shouldn't take me more than an hour or two.
I want to get into that routine every weekend for the following week. If it's all ready to go, I'll be able to stay on track when the week gets busy...0 -
Happy Friday!!!
Lia, thanks for the encouragement. After reading that I would totally buy the new cookbook, but yesterday I went on an online spending spree and got quite a few expensive art supplies. I'm kinda cringing and trying not to think about it too much but will be excited to have the supplies. I promised myself as I clicked the 'order' button that I wouldn't buy myself anything else this month. Good for you ordering a swimsuit and signing up to swim! so healthy.
Mihani, any vacation days coming up for you? I bet having a few days where you totally remove yourself from the office and don't take any work home would do you a world of good. Though you do seem to do very well being busy. Do you thrive on it (or just survive?!) Whatever works for you! You are doing great with omitting snacks. Very impressive.
Karrie, kind of nice that the kids started late in the week so they had a weekend to cushion the routine back into school. It's a big adjustment for everyone I bet. Delicious tempting evil carbs. Nice plan for the weekend! I read "I'm going to make some hummus and bam" with the thought that "bam" was some sort of meat substitute for ham LOL. Hummus and veggies sounds better.
I've had a bit of success with eating better when I don't overthink things. My meals aren't ideal, but better than frozen. I've been making the brown jasmine rice in large quantities and keeping it in the fridge. Then I just heat it up and throw on whatever fresh veggies appeal at the time.
So my latest obsession, encaustics, is quite the rabbit hole. Yesterday I managed to fit in about 5 hours in the studio standing over a hot plate of molten wax. I decided that a medium to long term goal is to really stick with encaustics for a full year and see how much I can grow with it. I'm going to be more disciplined and set aside time 5 days a week to work on it.
Have a great weekend everyone!0 -
I am debating on whether to go to the office tomorrow or not. I will work regardless, but I think I may stay home and log in.
Karrie, that is a great idea! I have been looking at hummus recipes that I can make low-fat without added oil, and I need to do that this weekend for lunches this week. I love hummus and veggies. Hope things have settled down with the back to school stress.
Carla, your artistic pursuits are so interesting and inspiring. One of these days I am going to take a ceramics class. I am fascinated by that and want to try it. There’s a community center really close to me that offers a lot of classes like that, ceramics, pottery, painting, etc
I tried my first recipe from the new OSG cookbook tonight. Red lentil chickpea curry, with apple mango chutney, over basmati rice. I have never made chutney before. It had a 1/2 cup (1/2 CUP!) sugar in it, but it’s a garnish not a meal so I made it as written. It was really good, but not sure it was necessary just kind of a contrast to the curry. The curry was really good, again made as written so a little oil, but not much. It could easily be made without oil, I just like to try recipes as written the first time out. I would probably spice it up a bit more next time. It had a little heat but not overpowering at all so if you don’t like too spicy it’s worth a try. Going to try out new recipes over the next few weekends. It’s just too much to try to cook during the week unless I plan ahead, and I never do lol.
B – part of a smoothie that for some reason tasted weird and I threw it out and just had some watermelon
L – an apple (I wasn’t really hungry and also anticipating a bigger calorie dinner)
D – OSG red lentil chickpea curry, apple mango chutney, basmati rice
Again, NO snacks, yay!

Didn't go to the office yesterday but went in today. Brought home a little to work on tonight yet since I needed to get to laundry. I wasn't as careful with eating this weekend as I was during the week, but it's part of my plan to loosen it up a bit on the weekends but keep as close as possible to 100% ETL 6 week plan during the week. I think it will result in a slow but steady loss. We'll see.
Ate salads and leftover curry this weekend for dinners, and some watermelon and apples. Also made chickpea salad (like tuna salad only with mashed/flaked chickpeas instead of tuna) and had that on the Dave's bread with a slice of tomato and some romaine for lunches. Smoothies for breakfast.
I'm doing a charity walk in just a little under two weeks and freaking out a bit that I haven't been walking to build up my stamina to do 3 miles. This isn't like cramming for a math test you can wait until the night before, I gotta get at it starting tonight!

I'm going to be the inventor of BAM! Vegan ham.0
-
Busy weekend, busy week so far, but I feel good. I am making great choices on food, not having any snacks, and saving my starchy carbs allowance for dinner which is so much better for me. Having starches at breakfast or lunch seems to set me up to crave and crave, but if I just eat some at dinner it's fine.
B - smoothie (vega protein and greens, fresh greens, 1/4 frozen banana, tablespoon chia seeds, hemp milk, 1/4 tsp liquid garlic extract)
L - sliced peppers and grape tomatoes
D - not sure yet, probably a sandwich on Dave's Killer Bread with no oil lentil spread, cucumber, carrot, lettuce, tomato)
0 -
Yum, chickpea salad! Mihani, I have found the same thing with starch related cravings. I do much better if I avoid them until dinner time.
I finally put a scoop of my great grass powder into my morning smoothie again. If I get another killer headache it will confirm that it is the cause of it. My smoothie tasted a little like poison LOL. I don't think it is the powder, although it does give it a grassy sort of flavor. I suspect that it's the kale we have been growing in the garden. My husband harvested some last night and I put a bunch in there. I guess I'll know at lunch time when my husband eats his salad at work! (don't really think it is poisoned!! just very strong and bitter for some reason...maybe all that healthy stuff in there!)
B - smoothie (almond milk, grass powder, blueberries, 1/2 banana, flax seeds, spinach, kale)
L - I think I'll copy Mihana and make chickpea salad on bread with lots of lettuce
D - leftover whole wheat spaghetti with tomato veggie sauce from garden
S - pears0 -
Carla, I've never really liked kale in smoothies other than baby kale, it seems to overpower everything. And I hate juiced kale ugh. But I love it cooked into soups, in stir-fry, tofu scramble, etc. How did your chickpea salad turn out? What artistic endeavors are you into this week?
My meals seem to have settled into a routine, yesterday was the same smoothie for breakfast, peppers and grape tomatoes for lunch. Dinner was a wrap with Oasis zero fat lentil hummus, cucumber, romaine, yellow pepper.0 -
Mihani, routines for the win as far as eating ETL! Is that lunch satisfying for you? I like peppers and tomatoes, but I think if that's all I was having, I'd be a little grumpy!
I'm not a huge fan of kale so I try to hide it in my food where and when I can. It was our first harvest from the yard and the leaves were small so I didn't think it would be as potent as it was! I love spinach in my tofu scrambles and in soups, too, but I do try to switch it up a bit when I'm feeling up for it!
My chickpea salad turned out good. It wasn't too close to the OSG recipe because I was missing a lot of ingredients. Little chunks of pickle would have been nice in there. I wrapped it all in a burrito. Tomato, onion, cucumber, salt & pepper, 1/2 an avocado, 1 tsp miso, lemon juice...and of course chick peas. I'm probably forgetting stuff.
This week I'm continuing to play with encaustic medium. I used a wood block as my surface and played with layering and carving out images that I then filled with other colors of wax, oil paint, and india ink. I did some grunt work prepping some surfaces for future work, and I spent several hours making my own encaustic medium by melting damar resin and white beeswax together. I ended up with 36 muffin tin-sized pucks of wax and saved about $25 by making it myself. Next time it will be a lot faster, too. I also discovered the skillshare website and got a free 3 month premium membership so I've signed up for way too many classes and have been doing those assignments. Oh, and also Kadenze.com where you can audit college courses for free. I'm taking a class there on making comics, one on illustration, and I'm on week 6 of the one for designing a website with the right vibe for showcasing my art. Too many artistic pursuits at once!!!
Yesterday I stuck to my meal plan with the exception of my snack which was cookies instead of pears.
B - smoothie sans the kale!
L - chickpea salad in wrap
D - good question. our friend is coming over to make use of our workshop and he'll probably be around at dinner.

Hi guys!
Wow it makes me tired reading about all of your busy days. WOW you guys are all so busy!!! Sounds like it's neverending (and feels like it too I'm sure!).
I'm terrible and haven't signed up at the gym yet. The pool is closed this week for maintenance so that's my excuse. I will sign up soon though! I've been feeling quite sick all week so that's part of it.
Enjoying the new cookbook so far too! This morning I made her yummie smoothie with tons of spinach, pineapple, pear, banana, and lime. It was great! Those are my go-to ingredients, but I find her stuff always has little extras that brings something from good to great (ie. pear, lime, etc.).
Work is still busy and everyone is wishing for a break. I got a few days off for the first time in about four months and I really savoured it!!!
Okay Carla can you please send pics of this encaustic idea!?!? I need to go google it. It sounds so cool!
Mihani I agree with Carla, I don't think I could have peppers and grape tomatoes for lunch lol. I would probably eat my arm. Although your smoothie must have some great staying power
Karrie, how's it going with the simplicity goals??0 -
Carla, I actually find if I eat less during the day I feel better, more alert and productive. I sit at my desk so much, eating more just seems to make me lethargic. I am not a huge fan of kale either, but for some reason I like it even better than spinach in some things. I realized I can throw a little (finely chopped) in most anything and it tastes great and adds texture. Maybe your homegrown kale is more potent lol. I have still never tried a kale salad, I don’t care for it raw much at all, although the recipes I’ve read say you should massage it to soften it up, I should try it someday. Your chickpea salad sounds really good! I am awed by your artistic pursuits… so fun and varied and creative!
Lia, have you tried any more recipes? I haven’t yet, I just don’t seem to have any oomph to do much cooking during the week, but with colder weather coming I probably will do more. I am going to do some more blended salads this week. I totally forgot about them! I am going to browse through the new OSG tonight and find a recipe I want to try this weekend though.
B – smoothie same as usual
L – subway veggie sub and baked chips
D – hummus quesadilla and some wine
S – a few blue corn chips
Oh, I just found out there’s a VegFest in town a week from tomorrow. Dr. Esselstyn will be the featured speaker, and Chef Del (of Forks Over Knives fame) will be there along with a lot of other vegan “celebrities”. I really want to make it for at least some of it. They will have food and other vegan goods vendors (like clothes and makeup and such), workshops, people from local animal sanctuaries, lots of speakers. I think it would be really fun and interesting!

Have the Golden French Lentil Stew from OSG simmering on the stove. Hope it tastes as good as it smells, which is heavenly. I love the scent of thyme when it simmers. I wish I had time to cook every day and try all the recipes I have bookmarked in all the cookbooks I have!0
-
Okay, I highly recommend the lentil stew... I could eat this all day every day lol0
-
Is the Golden French Lentil stew from the original OSG or the new one, Mihani? Sounds good. I get into lentils every so often and have them every day for like a month running. Wow, what an awesome opportunity to hear Dr. Esselstyn and others in the field speak and have lots of vegan vendors all in the same area. I hope you're able to fit it in! Please report back if you do. I always end up trying to eat my kale raw...no wonder it is hard for me to get down! Now that I think about it, I used to make an African Peanut stew with yams and cooked kale and I didn't mind the kale in there at all. It is a cool and rainy day here and I'm chilly so stew is sounding great right now.
I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do my encaustic and resin art work this year. I have to have the doors open in the workshop to do either of them to keep good ventilation. We are in a windy location and the cold air and rain just blow right in! I'm having trouble typing with my cold cold fingers! We had a concrete guy over to look at the barn we want to convert to my studio, but he is backed up because of the unexpected rain we've been having, so we're not sure if he'll be able to get it done before it gets too muddy back there for a concrete truck to drive in the pasture. I'm thinking about getting a colored concrete floor. I think that would look neat in the studio and still be a rugged floor for whatever I'm doing in there.
Lia, here's a simple piece I did on paper. It is a little hard to see the textures in the photo. I'm still just trying to get a feel for it. I'm glad you had a few days off! Did your new swimsuit arrive in the mail?
Has anyone heard from Terri?
Breakfast - scone
Lunch - chickpea salad on tortilla wrap (btw, chickpea salad is even better on the 2nd day! i keep making this)
Dinner - wild rice, tofu, stir fried veggies
Snack - fruit, coffee to warm up!0 -
The Golden French Lentil Stew is in the new cookbook Carla. It has cashew cream stirred in at the end which gives it a very rich and smooth finish. I was eating it cold out of the leftover container for a snack last night lol. I LOVE that painting... you can kind of see where the textures are even in a picture, and the variations give it depth.
I was wondering about Terri too, I meant to send her a pm last week and forgot.
Headed to the office today. I am trying to stick to taking at least one day out of the office on the weekends, but it seems like I never get a whole lot done when I do stay home. The plan today...
B - avocado toast, cantaloupe
L - salad and an apple
D - leftover stew, roasted cauliflower0 -
I found the Golden French Lentil stew recipe online, posted with permission, so I think I'll give it a try. I have everything but the celery so I think it will be dinner tomorrow! The OSG Everyday is getting some mixed reviews on Amazon. Maybe the first was just too good. I always like Angela's recipes so I plan to buy it next month regardless...unless of course I hear differently from you guys!
Spent this morning in the workshop laying down base color and texture for 2 more wax pieces. This time around I'm laying down wax and then using a sharp pointy tool to carve patterns into the wax. I'm thinking about putting 3 of these pieces together on a steel background to make them into one piece. So much fun! The hours fly by.
I had another chickpea salad wrap today, for breakfast this time! Once again, it was even better on day 2. I might make up a new batch for tomorrow. With the ingredients I throw in there, it ends up tasting more like an egg salad sandwich than tuna, so I think I'm going to play up on that even more and add some devil's dung (hing, but devil's dung is so much more fun to say/write!).
Hope you get a lot done at the office today, Mihani! It is hard to avoid distractions when working from home, that's for sure.0 -
Carla, I just went and perused a few of the lesser star comments on Amazon and I would say they are mostly fair. There are less entrees, a lot of smoothie and snack and dessert recipes (which don't interest me much). I don't have time to fuss with breakfasts, I mostly have my smoothie or oatmeal and out the door. Still, there are quite a few recipes I marked. I enjoyed the curry although it didn't totally wow me, and I loved the lentil stew. There are several I recognize from her blog, or at least similar enough to the blog to not be new to me. I would say 2/3 of this book will not get used though, which is sad. Maybe you are right that her first one was so exceptional, it's hard to top. I never heard of devil's dung (or hing for that matter) lol
Had a long day in the office, got a fair amount done. I hope that this week goes a little easier than the past couple weeks. Things have been tough lately.
0 -
Thanks for looking at the Amazon comments and giving me your input, Mihani. I will hold off for now. In the end, I usually end up getting most of my recipes online anyway, though I do love having a nice recipe book with images to flip through.
I am still planning to make the french lentil stew today, and of course, more of the chickpea salad. It is a bit of an obsession. Kind of how my life goes, one obsession after the next with very little middle ground. Devil's dung is a very smelly spice! I keep it double wrapped and then in a sealed jar. It smells like sulfur!! It is used in Indian dishes. Here's a link if you're interested: http://www.seriouseats.com/2010/06/spice-hunting-asafoetida-hing.html
I've been playing around more with my encaustics and made a playful piece with a dog in a corn field. Here he is:
Today
breakfast - banana bread and coffee
Lunch - 'deviled' chickpea salad in a tortilla
Dinner - golden french lentil stew
snacks - pears0 -
Awwww! I love the puppy painting Carla, looks like she's all ready to chase a ball through the cornfield. It's funny, I have collected at least 30 vegan cookbooks over the past few years, and I still get the majority of my recipes online too. I just enjoy cookbooks I guess, but I like how I can go to a website and enter a few keywords of items I have in the fridge that I want to get rid of and have it pop up some recipes for me. I stopped and got more French green lentils since I was running low, and I plan to make that lentil stew again this week. I want to make the French Green Lentil Salad from FOK again too. I love all lentils, but I admit to something of an obsession with the French lentils lately. The firmer texture of them is nice in salads and lighter dishes.
I am home early for once! I am going to do laundry and a bit of work I brought home, then read until bedtime. I am feeling a bit run down and tired the past week or so. I think the stress and constant pressure is getting to me. Some nights I am really having trouble getting to sleep then I don't want to get up when the alarm starts. I may have a glass of wine tonight.
B - vega protein and greens shaken with water
L - Amy's pad thai
D - fat free black bean spread, cucumber, lettuce, avocado, tomato and a little dijon on Dave's good seed bread

I just finished making the lentil stew and it was so good I had to post again to say so. Yum!!! decadent and flavorful. I can foresee us eating a lot of it in the future.
After all my devil's dung talk, I wasn't able to find mine. I think it might have been accidentally put in a Goodwill box since I wasn't too excited about the container it was in. Someone will get a surprise when they open that container!! LOL! On the plus side, while I was searching my cupboards for it, I found a jar of pickles so I get to try those in my chickpea salad for tomorrow's lunch.
Since I made the dog blue anyway, I wish I would have painted him to look like a Blue Heeler! Some other time.
Enjoy your evening reading, Mihani. Sounds great!0 -
Oh good, glad you liked that recipe! I ate up the whole batch myself over 3 days. I am going to make it again within the next day or two.
0 -
My husband also really likes the lentil stew. He is relieved to have something other than salad for lunch! Our kale is pretty crazy on the flavor scale. And not crazy good, especially when raw. I'll be making some more stew for next weeks lunches and doubling the recipe.
I took a bit of time last night while relaxing on the couch to flip through the original OSG cookbook and found a recipe I'm going to try some time this week. It's sweet potato & black bean enchiladas with avocado-cilantro cream sauce. Since we've be so far off plan with ETL, I think we're going to try doing plant based, but more of an OSGs style, making sure we're really enjoying our meals. I'll cut down or omit the oils and try to get in extra greens.
Office work today for me, and cleaning the house. My mom is coming out for a visit tomorrow and I know we'll be out shopping and having lunch so I need to get stuff done today. Found a few mini art classes online that I signed up for. It is nice to have so many resources available and I just can't stop myself but I'm feeling a little like I don't know what to do next because there is so much! I also couldn't stop myself and put in another order for art supplies at DickBlick. Yikes. At least I will save some money in the long run with the pigments I purchased...I can add them to the clear encaustic medium and make colored encaustics myself.
Breakfast - banana blueberry oatmeal, coffee
Lunch - French lentil stew
Dinner - leftover rice with stir fry
Snacks - lets hope not, shall we?0 -
That recipe has been on my list for a while Carla, although I have made the butternut squash black bean burritos from her website more times than I can count, and love them! I assume the enchiladas would be just as good. Who woulda thought... butternut squash burritos are so delicious! I add chopped kale to that mixture when it is cooking too. I imagine you could do the same with the enchiladas if it doesn't already have greens in the recipe.
I think your plain sounds very sensible! I often think I'm just fine and lose weight (although slowly) if I just eat very strictly at breakfast and lunch, like all veggies and fruit, and then let myself splurge a bit at dinner to have something I really enjoy which is still generally healthy and ETL friendly. It's easier to stay disciplined during the day when I know I have a good dinner to look forward to. Of course it also involves being "good" on the weekends and avoiding the alcohol and the subsequent lapses into starchy carb overload. lol
Enjoy your visit with your mom! This year was 25 years since I lost my mom, crazy to think it has been so long. Still miss her so much. She was way too young, only a couple years older than I am now.
Work isn't much better this week. I'm just totally burned out I think. I need a vacation, but can't figure out how to take one when I'm always scrambling to stay halfway above water with the workload. Sigh.
B - smoothie (vega protein and greens, power greens, chia seeds, liquid garlic extract)
L - subway veggie sub, potato chips (haven't had chips in a while they were good but I actually felt a little sick after eating them, that's probably a good thing)
D - big ol' salad, think I'll go mexican with black beans, avocado, roasted peppers and onion, salsa
Oh, and my neighbor with the huge garden, who leaves me goody bags all summer long, seems to have expanded his crops this year. I got a bunch of radishes and beets along with some of the end of summer tomatoes and peppers. I think I may roast the beets to throw on salads.
