Does anyone combine low carb and IF?

Before my holidays I did low carb for three months and lost 13 lbs. I have been back in the UK for 3 weeks now and find it hard to go back to low carb. I always end up sabotaging my efforts in the evening. I am wondering If IF could work?

Yes, I do. I find low carb does help because I am not as hungry. I am not very low carb. Normally around 60-100 total carbs daily. I am just about to start on a more intentioned fasting protocol. I am not into eating breakfast; never have been so I normally go until noon and some days, until the middle of the afternoon. Once I am over taking NSAIDs for a temporary back problem, I am going to do a deliberate 24 hour fast.
If you aren't already a member of the Low Carber group:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group
there are some fasters there. And if you fit the profile, there is an active group in the ladies over 50 subset of the lcd group.1 -
I do both. I stay under 20g carbs a day and fast 2x48hrs a week as well as 18/6 on other days. Once every 6 weeks I also do longer fasts. Both keto and fasting have changed my life.8

I bounce from low carb to moderate carb depending on my strength training days.
I've tried to do 16:8 IF most every day. Sometimes I'll go longer or shorter depending on what life throws at me.

I'm doing LCHF and intermittent fasting, currently along the lines of 18:6 some times as long as 24 and some times as little as 12. I go with the flow as to how I feel and what's going on!9

I am going to give this a go combining it with low carb (no mre than 50 grms a day).1

That's a darn good question. I also have a post I'd like to edit, but I think there is a one-hour window for that. They should have an option for deleting. If you find it, can you please share with us? Thanks!

I have been strictly keto (under 20g of net carbs per day) for the past 4 1/2 weeks and just introduced intermittent fasting (18/6) this past week and it helped me break through I mini plateau. So far I've lost 20 lbs! I was a bit worried that I was losing weight too fast, but I make sure to hit my macros although the past few days I have noticed that I'm not quite meeting my calorie goal because I'm just not hungry! I'm not far off, only slightly. I drink BPC I'm the morning to break my fast and then breakfast, and usually another BPC shortly after and it is really filling. I have found that using "Coffee Booster" makes it really easy for me. My starting weight was 269 and I am currently at 249 so I still have a long way to go. But I do feel it is possible to obtain my goal of 160 lbs (I'm 5'9") using the keto/if method.10

Yes I do.1

Completed my first 36 hour fast without anything but water, tea and diet soda (a no-no, but I do the best I can). Going to focus on staying in ketosis and bump my carbs up on my training days another 25 - 50g, but that's about it.4

I've been low carb for years and it tends to accidentally evolve into IF (cause you aren't constantly hungry). During those times, I had a little too much weight loss.4

I do HFLC (75-100 net carbs) along with 16:8 fasting. Sometimes, I fall off the wagon, but when I'm consistent I feel great and have no problem fasting for longer than 16 hours some days.2

Yes I do. I am doing low carb (<50g) mod protein with 16:8 fasting. I may move to 18:6 and then some 24 hours.1

I just finished my first week of IF. My aim (adjusted as necessary): M-T 20:4/netcarbs=20-25g; Fri 18:6 net carbs same (allows me to eat dinner w husband); Sat-Sun 16:8 net carbs=30-40g (allows me to be in more synch w family).2

I do intermittent fasting with keto diet. I generally forgo breakfast Monday - Friday and just drink black coffee. I always stop eating after dinner which I try to finish at least by 7pm.1

I do 100g or less for 3 days 25 or less for 2 and then either fast or high fat this helps me on busy days and I just go with the flow. I fast 16:8 naturally always have. It works but you still have to look at macros and calories.0

I try to stay under 50g Carbs, and do mostly 20/4, but sometimes if something is going on I will do 16/8. Then if I am in a situation where eating with people, ie weekends away , I will just stay low carb.1

I started in Jan of this year and I do 18:6 1500 cal/low carb. I also do regular exercise. Usually walking. I am down 19 lbs so far. This combo works for me.3

As my son used to say, "There's only one best way to get and stay healthy, and it's different for every body". Congrats on getting rid of those 19 pounds of fat! I'm a 3rd shifter and I do I.F. 20:4. It just seems to fit into my lifestyle. I also try to keep an excess of carbs at bay. I'd rather have my body used to burning fat first than going through the carbs first and then the fat. Way to go on finding a plan that you can stick with!1

I also start keto since Jan, but just start with 16:8 in the past two week. It suite my daily schedule well.
Just the past weekend, I tried 20:4 but feel too stuffed in both meals within the 4 hours. Going to stick with 16:8, maybe trying to shorten the window over time.1 -
Yes, I was strict with my carb intake at first. I think it’s because I was on a 16:8 IF schedule eating twice a day. Since I’ve moved to an OMAD 20:4 schedule I watch only the high glycemic carbs (pasta, bread, and rice). I basically choose carbs and looked at my weekly intake to make sure I’m getting all my nutrients.0

Thus is a first!

Yeah for sure, either way is fine. And I often do them together.
IF before low carb, or low carb before IF, they both kind of support each other so you can start either way. :-)0
