Keto for over 18 months now. I don't really focus on macros. Not even sure what mine are set to. I just aim for as little carb as possible and focus on real food.
I'm planning to be a lifer4 -
The majority of us active members are keto level of low carb but many are in the moderate or even higher levels (~150g).
If you ever have questions, check out the Launch Pad for very valuable information!2 -

Yes, I aim to keep carbs below 20 grams per day.0

Yes, second timer but have only been back on it for a month or so now. Hello keto friends!0
-
No one here but us chickens.1

At the current moment, yes....averaging a "staggering" 3-5g carbohydrates/day from whole eggs1
-
Yes, aiming to stay under 30g total (not net) carbs per day, and loving it. Welcome!1
-
I usually stay way under 20 total carbs a day also - so far it's working pretty good for me. I plan on eating this way for the rest of my life0
-
Me too...most days <5 gr but if I go over I don't stress. I don't think I ever go over 20 net.0
-
I sure do! I feel the best when I'm keto. Glad you're enjoying it!0

Yes.0

Yup. 20 gm or under, total.0

Sort of. I don't count anything, just keep things to moderate protein, higher in fat, and mostly low GI veggies as my carbs. I'm on a new med that seems to require a slightly higher carb count in the afternoon, but I'm still keeping it pretty low.0

Keto for me!!0

20g net or less per day for almost a year, I've lost 53 pounds and hope to lose about 40 more in 2017.2

20 grams of carbs or less a day! Keto all the way!!0

I'm not Keto strict, but probably do venture down towards sub 20 grams on occasion.0

I've been watching my carbs seriously since August and in the last few weeks started turning to keto. I am back on this week after allowing some treats over my long thanksgiving weekend. I did try to limit myself only to those things that are really only available to me this time of year... I had pumpkin pie, for example, but not potatoes. And let me tell you, the pie tasted so much sweeter than I remember! Maybe my palate is changing...? I plan to try making it with either sweetener, or if I use sugar I'm going to cut it in half and see how it turns out.
Anyway as I said, been back on this week and I hope to be back in ketosis if not by now, then hopefully soon. I too keep my macros at 75/20/5 but I do find it hard to get all my protein in.0 -
Started this past Monday and am already seeing results! I definitely feel like this sustainable because there are so many options it's almost like you're barely limiting yourself add me and we win and lose at the same time3

I'm keto too. I try to stay at 20 net carbs or less each day.0

I've started Keto, 2 months in, lost 20#'s trying to stay under 20 net carbs although it's more difficult than I thought. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get closer to the 20 net carbs a day??0
-
Eating meat and fat as your primary source of food will keep you below 20 grams a day. Limit veggies (carbs add up quickly there!). Plus, you won't feel as hungry and control of choices (less desire for carbs) will be easier!
I was keto for about 20 months. Have recently added back some carbs (like oatmeal and beans) since I've been in maintenance for about 7 months. Is weird to be in the place where I don't have weight to lose! Wouldn't be here without keto and mfp!!
You all can do it too! Hang in there and Keto On!!4 -
Have recently added back some carbs (like oatmeal and beans) since I've been in maintenance for about 7 months. Keto On!!
Good job @Karlottap I can't wait to get to a maintenance point...the ONLY thing I really miss while doing keto is refried beans!0 -
Staying under 20 net or total is not essential to ketosis just an FYI. I did that for awhile and simply felt too restricted which resulted "slipping" for me. I've been keeping a food diary for close to 1300 days (with a few short intentional breaks) for weight loss and mostly maintenance-only 8 months have been keto/very low carb weight maintenance. I recently upped my carbs to 15% which equates to 57 grams and I've not come too close to eating that amount Total. If I look at net, it is considerably under the 57.
It's a "mental" thing for me. Too restricted and I struggle. If I "give myself some rope" I don't "hang myself" if my carbs come from vegetables/nuts/seeds/coconut/maybe raspberries. If I steer clear of sugary/floury/starchy/processed stuff, I'm fine meaning no cravings and carbs, low enough. For me this also means none of these "keto desserts" which do nothing but cause me to want more and over eat. I've had time to learn my triggers.
Of course @melissaslewis351, your mileage may vary but your profile indicates you've already lost 21 pounds. Excellent! You may want to experiment a little with a few more carbs and see how it goes if staying under 20 is a struggle. With a 21 pound loss while over 20...well there's an answer for you. What you're doing is working! If you're here for a health issue other than excess weight, you may need to ignore my suggestion.
A key to losing weight is finding what will work for you long term to keep it off.1 -
Thank you for the thoughts and encouragement. I'm trying to lose another 35 and I'll be where I want to be. I don't want that perfect body, just healthy. @kpk54 I also have a hard time with "Keto Desserts" leaves me craving too much.0

Keto for me too. I have my macros set at 80% Fat, 15% Protein, 5% Carbs. My body responds better that way.1
