Am I the only idiot on the open message boards

Wow...quite difficult out there on the message boards. Lots of bro science, and they travel in packs. They attack you in packs, too. I fight back asking for peer reviewed evidence...and that's where they trip and fall on their face...and it just gets them angrier. Anyone else experience this?

I can honestly say I only come to this board, but I've heard what you're saying from a few people.
It's too bad that it's like.1 -
Shhh. We do not speak of the other boards here. We must keep silent or risk losing this group. We understand, but shh.

I got buffeted around like a flea in a vacuum cleaner in several non-MFP health & nutrition forums before (by pure happenstance) I discovered this safe haven
Apparently, the facile concept that people's metabolisms are not identical is not universally acknowledged.6 -
There is soon to be a new board for like-minded folks: www.ketogenicforums.com It starts up on Jan. 1st, or if you are on 2KetoDudes on facebook, you can ask the admins for an early invite. Looks promising.6

Yeah...when will the CICO framework finally die...seriously.
Btw...Mel tome? Omg....heaven.

I tend to stay away from the main forums as frankly, I prefer this one. People on here are great, friendly, funny and filled with knowledge.
I sometimes wonder onto the fun boards and every now and then if I see a keto post under new, I will advice them to come here for more info.
People here are my real inspiration. I don't need other forums.5 -

This is a good thing.....That's how I found the board, so it's definitely good to get it out there once in awhile for the people that are looking for a place to get info and resources.2 -

Since you're a Mel Torme fan, you may already know this. A year or so ago, I ran across what I think was Mel's only movie appearance: "Good News" with June Allyson, Peter Lawford and a terrific cast singing and dancing DaSilva/Brown/Henderson songs. Mel wasn't required to do much in the way of acting in this musical romp but he was very much a plus to the film.2 -

Haven't seen that one. Thanks for the tip!
He made quite a few cameo appearances on TV, but I believe he also had several movie credits. His recordings stand up amazingly well, especially the tracks with Marty Paich's killer bands.
Great nickname, too. No one would ever be tempted to call me "Velvet"; "Fog" on the other hand....0 -

You "idiots" who dare venture to the main boards to share advice saved me from years of undernourishment, carb addiction with binge behavior, and damaged health.
So, a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to you idiots I love you all10 -
This is the only board that makes sense to me. I stay away from the " Would you date the above post " sites.6

Yippee! How did you do that?1 -
on the main forum page hover over the gear icon next to the sub forum and select unfollow.3

Thank you! I'm sick of seeing those on my home page
edit: well that didn't work all those ridiculous topics are still on my home page - under Recent Forum Topics0 -

If you unfollow them they shouldn't be. I don't see them on my recent discussions.0 -
Oops yes, they still pop up on your home page, but i can more easily ignore them there. I often click on 'recent discussions' here on the forums, and sometimes the first 2 or more pages were filled with chitchat posts and the who do you want to sleep with crap! Now it's as if that section doesn't exist.1

Well, I mean, it doesn't deserve to die completely. If someone is eating 1000 over their TDEE every day, they're going to gain weight, regardless of the type of diet or their individual physiology.

I've complained about the recent forum topics (if you have a forum ignored, it should not be showing up in recent forum topics). I sent a screen capture with it - and they zapped two of the most offensiv ediscussions as inappropriate for the forum . . . but they didn't act on applying a filter to the recent forum topics to exclude any forum you've hidden.
It is odd that they recognize a lot of what goes on there isn't appropriate for the forum, but allow it to continue - aside from isolated complaints about a specific thread.2 -
The only time the mods step into the chitchat section is when a post/thread gets a few reports. Other than that, it's a free for all!0

All the more reason it should be kept off of the scroll of recent activity that is on the front page of the site for those of us who choose to hide it. I wasn't complaining about the chit-chat section per se, just asking that my choice not to have to look at that garbage when I use this site be honored - by keeping it out of the scroll that confronts me every time I sign in. It was pure accident that there were two particularly explicitly sexual threads out of the 5 visible in the scroll and (if I recall correctly) 4 of the 5 were from that section.0 -

I completely agree.
One of the first questions i asked the higher ups when i was a mod here was "Are you going to make me go in the chitchat section?" lol0
