Getting back on Keto wagon (January challenge 2017)

Happy Birthday @StacyChrz!
My week is going pretty well. Up and and down as usual, but more up than down mood-wise and more down than up weight-wise!
I can only speak for my famIly, and I've only been doing this a week or so, but I cook a main dish and veg that we all can eat and then a carb heavy side dish that isn't too tempting for me. It hasn't been a problem so far, though I'm sure my will power will wax and wane over time.
Stay strong @nicee247 you can do it!2 -
I seem to have dropped 700g overnight. Back to pre Xmas weight. Not going to celebrate yet though it'll probably be back tomorrow.2

@stacychrz happy birthday.
Hey y'all, how has the week been? Any challenges?
I'm finding it difficult preparing delicious meals for my family and preparing a different one for myself. It's so tempting. Trying to keep going.
I hope I'm able to be committed for the rest of the month.
I cook the same for my family except, I used to, not so much anymore, add another side for them. So dinner would be a meat, veg and beans or sweet potato or pasta... I cut them off more recently because they've been getting less and less of that stuff over the almost 2 years I've been keto.
My son can eat an 8oz steak, buttered asparagus and be starving 30 minutes later. I explained it's just his body craving carbs. He didn't care. Lol1 -
Pretty good week so far, nothing on the scale yet, but my energy is up and hunger low, so it's a good sign.2
-
Doing not bad over here. 20-30 carbs/day. My ketostix should be in the mail soon. And I am interested to see if I need to be more strict with the carb #s. I will have an off weekend(Friday and Saturday) but will be back on Sunday!!2

Crazy sore legs since restarting this WOE. I've been salting my food and taking magnesium and getting more greens. It's just a matter of time I think. I am coming down from 6 months of a super high carb woe but other than the sore legs, no negative effects. My skin cleared up after two days, I am SO SO happy about that. And it feels a lot smoother and looks glowy = look younger. Woo! I'm also less puffy, as expected. It's a big adjustment from 6 months of eating another way, so I'm sure I'll have to wait longer for any other changes. I don't mind.3
-
@CoffeeNBooze I've found soaking in Epsom Salts really helpful for sore legs. Make sure your electrolytes include potassium as well.2
-
@CoffeeNBooze I had really achy legs last week! I upped my electrolytes and it went away. I drink bone broth with a bit of added lite salt. I'm so happy to hear things are going well otherwise!!
As of this morning I'm officially UNDER my pre-holidays weight (I gained from Thanksgiving-New Year ) I'm so happy with my results so far. Down 8.6lbs so far, but my official 2 week weigh-in is this weekend. I'm feeling SO much more energized. It's a great feeling. I'm going to start working exercise back in the mix as well ... gotta do something with all of this energy haha.7 -

Start weight 90.4kg
Goal by end of January 88kg
Expected weight by end of January 89.9kg (I'm the worlds slowest loser).
We'll see if I'm right
89.2kg this morning. Not sure if actual loss or Michael moved my scales when he was doing washing. Little from column a, little from column b maybe. Nice to see under 90 on the scales again though, even if it's not "true".
Eating like a 4'10" 40kg woman at the moment though so maybe it's actual weight loss.

Good job @EbonyDahlia !0

I fought off a wicked craving for peanut butter that came out of nowhere last night! I don't mind pb but it's never been a cravable thing for me.
It definitely passed but I did have to employ some distractions so that I could stay a well behaved carnivore.
Omg. I almost posted this with a hilarious autocorrect issue.

My period is kicking my *kitten*.... I AM STARVING you guys....
I passed up candy, cupcakes, and cake at work today. .... it was chocolate too.....I love chocolate...and I was so hungry. I was literally this close ----> || ....to saying F it.... but I've had so many "F" it moments, so I stayes the course.

Eat if you're hungry. Just make it a low carb food.
Nothing wrong with having a low carb food if you absolutely need it in order to keep your will strong enough to say no to the junk.
Great job on fighting the craving monster though!
I thought you all would get a giggle out of my typo.0 -
That is definitely a funny typo....A shaved carnivore would be a cold carnivore at this time of year I would think!1

Great job staying the course! Dark chocolate should be ok. Just check the carb content! I find if I have a piece of 70% cacao the craving goes away. Make sure your fats are up for satiation too. Agree with sunny bunny, eat when you're hungry1 -

Yes! I absolutely eat more on my period. It's the only time I usually end up snacking. Salami and cheese does wonders!

@Mellie2fit2quit @CoffeeNBooze
My partner made this amazing keto fudge, and it's heaven (also pms here).
So much keto dessert you can fix if you have a few ingredients at hand, erythritol, really good cocoa (this matters, for mocha too, I got Dagoba when I ran out, also organic but it just wasn't as good as this one which is amazing http://amzn.to/2iS4kQ4. I do like dark chocolate), and butter, coconut oil etc.
Also good to have at hand coconut flour, almond flour, coconut flakes. I don't know if I could have stayed keto if I didn't figure out how to make my favorites and other sexy food keto. And this amazing thing! http://amzn.to/2jGD478
I add it to melt butter, and pumkin pie spice, and it's keto maple syrup!0 -
Thanks for your advice guys and awesome words... I'm coming to the end of this dark tunnel lol.
I made keto kolaches this morning:

Finally small progress on scale since Dec 23rd. First day of my cycle, so typical. Does the bloat continue to come off i wonder or is this it. So my post Christmas stray cost me over 20 days of progress. But, back on the wagon again. And I'm taking it easy, I have dessert, little wine, and delicious foods every day. I don't count calories but try to if. Though because of the fat I have when I get up and the amount I eat when I break the fast I don't think of reduces my calories much. Was planning to start going to the pool today but that will need to wait a few days.0

Look up fat bombs on youtube and/or Google. They will torpedo any cravings and give you a 'sweets' killer too.1 -

No change on the scale before my date weekend with my husband. There was drinks, snacks, and some food I could not control and did not wish to. Back on track tomorrow. My keto stix showed up via mail so I will play with those next week from motivation. I know they are less accurate the longer in keto but something to keep me moving early on will be awesome! Keep it up everyone!!0
