Since we see everyone's beginning BG for the day, thought it would be helpful to see how our day ended. I'll start. I just took my BG and it is 296 before my shot.

5.0 (~90) at bed but 5.7 when I woke up (~103). My morning BG is always the highest of the day.

usually my morning is the highest as well (yesterday it was 117) so this was a fluke

@ConleighS how long after your last bite are you waiting before checking your sugar?

With such a wide spread between evening and morning, it sounds like you may not be timing your insulin during the day so as to cover your carb intake. ??

    400. Well that's a little unexpected. I was expecting to be high, I ate misc CRAP but not too much at bbq today and had Chinese for dinner...never ending learning curve.

Here's a thought (from hard-won :s personal experience... ). Try to look at your learning curve experiences in a positive way - reflect for a moment about what you've learned that hasn't worked for you. Then think about what you've learned so far that has worked, and that you can imagine actually incorporating into your daily diet and lifestyle.

    Helpful??

@ConleighS you do keep a diary of what you eat.. but do you also keep a diary of the time that you eat and the time and amounts of of medicine doses? that type of information might aid you in better dosingand eating habits.

Like @RalfLott says we are all different and you need to learn and apply the things that work best for your body, taking into consideration all other medical conditions not just your diabetes.

Yes, I keep a food log but it does not include times. I only take insulin at night right now and meds 2x a day. I am planning on going over diet and meds with endo today and hopefully we can get to some kind of normal. I'll keep you posted

Don't feel bad if it doesn't all click in at once. It took years to get my magic spell dialed in, and even when you stumble upon the right formula, it takes time to adjust and evaluate. (Oh, and patience. :/ )

You're adjusting a complex machine with a jillion different parts - and there's no manual for your particular model. Just educated choices guided by as much knowledge as you can absorb (Yeah, that takes a while, too...).

Keep us posted on your endo appt and take good notes! <3

Thanks Ralflott. I dont feel bad, we'll figure it out. Dr appt today went ok. He took lots of blood and is going to run a bunch of tests. He is sure that due to my pancreas issues that it is not producing/releasing insulin like it should. He is giving me novolog to take before meals and reducing my Levemir to 15 units. I go back in 3 weeks.

That sounds like a good start! We're you pretty satisfied with the appointment?
