I've read that a ketogenic diet can reverse Type 2 diabetes. I have been on this diet for a couple of weeks and I am happy to see my BG have come down to within nondiabetic range. I am concerned however whether I should be lowering my medications and if so, by how much and how quickly. I am on metformin, jardiance and insulin.

Medications should be talked over with your doctor. :)

I've been doing VLC for most of 2 years. Works good if
I keep my head in the game. Exercise & meds are still
    important.

For me reversing no, controlling yes.

@KenSmith108 has it exactly right, I think.

Metformin is generally safe. I still take 2500g/day of brand Glucophage XR (easier on your GI system, if you're sensitive), but insulin and anything that may make you prone to hypos will probably need to be lowered (or discontinued :) as your BG falls. A bonus.

I don't know that it makes sense to talk about a cure or reversal instead of remission, if part of controlling your T2D includes avoiding sugar and simple carbs (like bee stings, poison ivy, or booze, if you'an alcoholic - you still don't want them!). But remission - achieving nondiabetic BG levels - is possible for many people, though it may take a while to get all the way there on Metformin alone (or without it).

Tip - If you're into keto long-term, I'd highly recommend joining the Low-Carber Daily Group on MFP:
    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

There are many active threads daily and many members with T2D, thyroid, autoimmune and vascular issues. Not only is a lot of knowledge exchanged there, but it's also a very supportive and friendly group. (That's where I picked up info and research underlying recommendations to increase sodium in order to avoid "keto flu".)

FYI, keto videos by Drs. Phinney and Volek on the JumpstartMD Youtube channel are very informative, and the full interview is broken into short segments by topic for easy reference.
