I thought I needed a negative test to get back out. I was told to restest in 10 days. The PT I got it from was asymptomatic, so I am assuming I am still contagious. This virus seems awfully contagious.
The CDC says
As of July 20, 2020. A test-based strategy is no longer recommended to determine when to discontinue home isolation, except in certain circumstances.
So I think that means I can go by the 10-day rule. But that makes me a bit nervous. I have it, so I could spread it, right? I emailed the school to see what they want. I'd like to run to lowes and get those electrical supplies. But it can wait. I'm not climbing into the attic and I gave DH instructions how it is to be done. I just need him to feel better.
@bearly63
Yearly goals. I need to stop eating so much. I need to find a way to be more mobile, maybe exercise. I'd really like to become proficient with the violin and learn the cello.
I saw an ad for travel ICU RN's at $130/hr + $500 for lodging. I could get that pool I want and a fence and shop all day long on Amazon buying stuff for everyone in the world. LOL. Maybe open that running park in Hawaii where everyone can come vaca and train.

@quilteryoyo I think you are on to something. I think I can get out safely. Thanks!

@swenson19d Curious as to who told you to retest after 10 days. The TN Department of Health told me that after 10 days, if I had no symptoms (other than a cough or not tasting and smelling) I was free from quarantine. I don't even have to get another test before my surgery.0
-
@bearly63 I was thinking about my goals this morning. To be honest, it is hard to look too far ahead right now, not knowing how the surgery will go and what the recovery is going to look like. I spent a lot more time reflecting on my life to this point than looking to the future. But, I did come up with the following:
1 - Get rid of the aneurysm
2 - Follow doctor's orders to recuperate
3 - Start running and playing tennis again, as permitted
4 - Nurture relationships with friends and family

Rest day today. Went for a stroll around the local museum with the kids. I got groceries on an empty stomach and over indulged a bit. Also having takeaways for dinner, so am avoiding food till then. I am determined to make more than 7 days. I'm on track atm. And should be fine. But I gotta stop the sabotage.2

Advice was from the contact tracer within the Chickasaw Nation. They are their own Nation (Tribal). Oklahoma is Indian Territory and Dh is a tribal member and employee. ( I think I explained that right). Also with my being placed within the Nation for my nursing clinicals, I thought "I will have to adhere to their protocol anyway". Dh has to be retested the 4th. I am going to wait for guidance from the university.
Dh just mentioned that fostering those particular girls would lead to a constant connection to that family. The woman he dated (the grandmother) is absolutely unstable and it would likely lead to regret. *whew* I hope he is serious about backing off of this. Now, I have an extra room. Whatever shall I do with it? I told DH I could have an office there, or he can move back there and we can soundproof it so no one hears his sessions.
@Avidkeo New year new goals. Don't you love the feeling of a fresh start? My hoodies don't fit, they are too tight at the bottom and I put on a long-sleeved shirt yesterday and it no longer fit. It'll go to the donate bag in my trunk for drop off ASAP. Then I ate more fudge. I think it is time to get serious, buy a salad or make a soup, invest in my health.2 -

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the TN department of health’s recommendations are based on politics and expedience rather than on science or preventing the spread of the virus. They don’t want too many people quarantining because it was having an impact on their work force. It doesn’t make it safe.
In Memphis we had to give up trash pickup for a while because too many garbagemen were quarantined, so they said they only needed to quarantine half as long... nothing changed with the science, they just wanted the trash to get picked up. There’s a reason TN is worst in the world.3 -
Hugs guys. I keep thinking it would have definitely been easier if everything had just shut like NZ did, then we would have been past or. But that would have required a) world leaders to put aside egos and listen to the science and b) lives put ahead of profit. Though ironically if they did a, then profit wouldn't have been as affected. I feel the constant uncertainty and changes etc must be exhausting. I wish there would be an actual change come out of this, sadly I'm a cynic and I don't think there will be. The rich will just get richer, and leave everyone else behind.3

Oi that went political, sorry!
Well end of the day, I managed to keep to a deficit. Having cravings, and just realised period is due in a few days. Ah huh! Annoying.
So that's 8 days now! And I just refused chocolate!2 -
@Avidkeo That sounds like a wonderful day. If I go to the store hungry, I usually end up buying junk food, which I usually wouldn't do. So, I try really hard not to shop on an empty stomach. Sometimes, you just have to and hope for will power. It sounds like you are doing great!
@swenson19d It's interesting that there are different protocols re returning to work after CoVID. I didn't realize that your husband was Chickasaw. That's cool.
True @rheddmobile. But, I was surprised that the surgeons office said I would NOT have to be retested before my surgery. Surely they are using "science" in making their decisions. Did you read the article that @swenson19d referenced. It seems to make a case for NOT retesting and NOT being contagious. It was a little too medical for me to follow, but that is what I got from it.

@quilteryoyo Dh is a tad Chickasaw. His DNA is 2-3%, he looks more Scottish with an Irish temper LOL! Anyway, nice for him. They paid for his college, so jealous of that one. I am not any bit Indian at all. I am a descendent of the European enemy.
I also felt the article regarding retesting was reporting that if no symptoms were had, no testing needed to be done because of shedding the virus and it is not contagious. I am not a virologist, so can't comment. But it seems plausible.
I might go fetch my electrical supplies today. I wonder if DH wants the office back in the cat room and I need to move all of it back today. I hope not. I hope he is going back to work, real work in a corporate office, in a week. I think I'll make the room a cat/study/meditation room.1 -
Morning guys. Had another woosh overnight - wasn't surprised given how often I was going to the toilet lol. So down 1.2kg (2.6lb) in 9 days. Yay. And managed a week keeping to a deficit.
Last day of holiday today, so will be doing a lot of outside yard work. It's been raining for the last few days, so consequently with the summer heat all the weeds have gone nuts!1 -
@avidkeo you are killing it....keep it up
@swenson19d The European enemy! Lol! I love your goals. Not to get too political....these days everything is political so oh well. I am shocked at how we as country have treated the native american tribes. Just awful and in an inhumane way. They should be high up on the list for vaccines since they have been so terribly affected. And then I see a Covid Denying Senator in TX getting his vaccine and he is healthy, younger than I and has not preexisting conditions so he does not qualify other than he has power. #Angry Ok off my soapbox
@quilteryoyo I love your goals....health and human connections.3 -
@avidkeo - awesome on weight!
@swenson19d - So is it definitely not happening with the girls then? I think having a constant connection to the former GF could be weird.
@bearly63 - I'm doing a dry January (except for weekends, lol). DH and I both noticed that whenever we are at condo it feels like vaca and tend to drink in the evenings. Though we haven't since Thursday night.
Fl Governor decided to get the vaccine to the >65 group first, instead of first responders/health care workers. That was a little shocking to me. I mean, the first responders vote too. Oh wait, there is less of them than the retired group in Florida.
Today is a total rest day! First one since before Thanksgiving. Though a couple days I just ran one mile for streak, so that wasn't much. My weight is stubbornly still up, but I'm back at work tomorrow and onto the normal routine of eating so it should go back down.
As for goals, I have a constant goal to keep learning and to stay fit. When I was teaching all those years, I was constantly learning because my field required it. I'm taking an IBM Data Analytics program on Coursera that is pretty good. On class 6/8 - flying through it because a lot of it I already know, but I've learned quite a bit too.
Got to pack up stuff and head home right after dinner today.

Sigh yeah it seems ridiculous politicians getting theirs first. I wouldn't object to Biden getting his fairly early on, since president. But really should be front line first then over 65s. Preferably both at the same time. Though I admit that's a hard call.
Hey @runs_on_espresso I just listened to an older ep of your podcast - I think October. You were talking training plans. You mentioned that you had the paid version of Hal. Is it worth it? Can you change things around and not lose the plan? I'm using it atm for HM training and want to be able to move long run days during the plan.
Also, it seems really expensive! It's showing I can get 1 year for $35, though not sure if that's USD or NZD. Then it's 94 a year!1 -
@ddmom0811 Dh sent a message to the caseworker informing her of our decision. So yes! official. It's not the connection to the old girlfriend, she is from back in his using days and it's not like there's a spark there. She is unstable and could cause so many problems down the road. I told him he wants that madness to go get it, LOL! Beary running around silly is my kind of madness, I'm not doing unstable people drama.
If those politicians don't get the vaccination first, who's going to run the country? LOL JK!. It would be a nice gesture to the older population and health care workers if they waited for their "turn". Or at least lied and did it on the sly.2 -
@Avidkeo Yeah for the woosh! I had to get up 4 times the first 4 hours I was in bed last night to pee, but no loss. I guess that happens when you eat too much. At least I didn't gain. You are doing great!
@swenson19d I think not taking the girls is the right call for you right now. If it were a different time in your life, maybe. But you are already dealing with a lot. Adding to that wouldn't be healthy for you or them.0 -
Dh was cleared for work. He didn't need a test, just a phone call. SO yay! I will not restest. DD still had her headache and was planning to get tested today.
Dh mentioned getting Bear a playmate. I am not sure how he'd react, he's THE baby. Who knows, I need to run by and get the electrical stuff still, I could drop by the shelter, see if I can borrow a cat'n. (kitten-cat).
Food
I ate too much again yesterday. DH fixed me a burger and I couldn't say no after his generous efforts. I thought that perhaps I'll try to get on the TM and see how bad it hurts or drag my bike to the spare room and listen to podcasts. I should do a soup today. Perhaps I can buy a lazy salad if I get out (of my pyjamas).
I looked at the Hello Fesh yesterday
It was disappointing. Not even an option to select food allergies or likes/dislikes. Anyone have any luck with such a service that might allow me to have better choices?
Dreams
I keep having dreams of being murdered. Night before last it was vivid, I died and woke to a shadow. It was weird. Last night dh killed me 2-3 times. oh I listened to like 5 hours of Morbid last night. haha! bet that's it. It's a true crime podcast.

Wow - just realized I haven't posted here since New Years Eve! I have been reading and I thought I had replied at least once if not multiple times!
So Happy New Years!
We stayed home of course and had a Zoom party with some friends. Played a game online called KaHoot. It was fun!
@swenson19d - have to say I am relieved you aren't getting the girls. It just seemed an awful lot for you to take on right now.
I love that Beary plays with Bob! I would be very curious what Hobbes' reaction would be.
Maybe a playmate for Beary and a new cat'n for dd to love on?
I like HelloFresh but you do have to dig all the way down into the detailed recipe to see what is in it that you might not be able to have. They also use pre-made packets of ingredients to add to sauces etc, like a Marzhetti's dressing or a premixed spice packet.
@bearly63 and @ddmom0811 - I am not doing a dry January but cutting way back and basically not drinking during the week and only one small glass of wine with dinner at that. I find if I don't have water with my dinner I drink wine like it is water instead so just having a glass of water too has made a big difference.
For those not frequenting the Challenge thread thought you would want to know that @skippygirlsmom slipped while hiking with the Skippygirl, grabbed a branch to keep from falling into a ravine but seriously broke her ankle. Not a great way to start the New Year!
We are starting IF today for dh. Dd doesn't want me to do it with him but I don't see how that would work since I am the primary cook, at least for dinner. He wanted to jump right in and do a 7-4 window but I said no. I know that would set him up for failure - he can't go from 4 pm all night with nothing to eat. I mean we eat dinner now between 6-7pm and he usually has a snack (cookies or something) around 8:30 or 9. So I told him 8:30-5:30. Honestly I think he should do 8:30 to 6:30 for a week then slowly move dinnertime back. I am also thinking about switching to having a big meal, dinner essentially, at noon and just a light something at dinnertime. That way I could eat later and we could still have our big meal together. I just don't see me eating at 3 or 4 in the afternoon like he is talking about.
Hamstring is moderately better. I didn't feel it at all yesterday but it bothered me last night and was achy this morning. I suspect I am not feeling it much during the day because of the Aleve but not sure why I would feel it at night. Hoping to hear from my PCP today on next steps given the covid situation.
Covid Rant - saw pictures last night of the crowds at LAX coming home from the holidays as well as people all over (FL was a big one) partying in large groups with no masks. My heart sank for the hospitals, health care workers and anyone needing care. There are reports already of people dieing at home because they have been turned away at the hospital to get better at home because they weren't 'that' sick (yet) and there was no bed for them. 😢 We haven't seen any vaccine plan yet from the state other than who will be in the various tiers which is basically the same as what came out from the CDC.

Hello Fresh
Dh is interested in it. But I don't know if the meals are anything I'd eat. It might be an option for Dh and Dd though.
I can't believe so many people "forgot" about the virus for the holidays. Now with the additional b117 strain, reports are that it is easier to catch.
IF
I am hit and miss on it. I lost weight the easiest when I kept to it and stuck to a very low carb diet, just fruits, and veggies nothing refined. I usually didn't eat until 1 or 2 PM and began fasting about 7-8 PM. I wasn't looking for a certain on/off schedule. I just did what fit my habits and needs. @shanaber your Dh may find he needs to tweak it, maybe allow some light soups, fruit, veggie bake or anything healthier during the times he needs/wants food.
There is pie out and it's just not very good. Too sweet and it lemon which should be tart. So I made a quick turkey soup from the leftovers. I am proud of myself for taking a moment to do better. I also took an antidepressant today. I figured why not.
ETA @shanaber Glad the hamstring is a bit better. Hope the prognosis is good!1 -
Have done IF and agree with you @shanaber I had my eating window from 12 - 8 - so basically just skipped breakfast. Mostly because I'm an evening sacker, and women shouldn't fast more than 16hrs - apparently it can mess up your hormones? Unsure about that one. I still skip breakfast on rest days because I like snacking at night, and if I eat breakfast with my current deficit I don't have enough calories left for chocolate at night - and thats important to me haha2
-
@swenson19d - I can send you a free HelloFresh box if you want to take a look at the meals they offer. They select 3 for you but you can go in and change them to the other offerings. I think we have only had one we really didn't care for.
Dd sent us some information on IF and the impact on diabetes (New England Journal of Medicine) which is why she wants Dh to try it. Essentially they found the earlier you start the feed and longer you have the break at night the better for the insulin levels. She figured it might be a way for him to impact the diabetes without making drastic changes in his diet that he wouldn't adhere to. I have it in a PDF so if anyone is interested I can email it. Not sure I can attach a PDF here.
Has anyone read ROAR:How to Match Your Food and Fitness to Your Unique Female Physiology for Optimum Performance, Great Health, and a Strong, Lean Body for Life by Stacy Sims?
Would love your thoughts on if it is worth purchasing... especially for someone 'older'1 -
wow @shanaber that's great to have dd as a resource for the IF. I remember you mentioned ha before, it just didn't seem to stick in my head. I may try it again and adjust my hours. Eating too late caused some brain fog, so I bet eating earlier would help. I'd like to look at the pdf. email me if you get the chance.
I'll let DH look at the Hello Fresh and decide from there. There were 25 options and I found 1 I was willing to eat. So I canceled it.
The ROAR sounds interesting. I assume it's a book? Today is nice out. Maybe I'll brave a walk (doubt it, because the less I am out the less comfortable I am. creepers might get me. IDK I've always been scared of people and now it's a tad harder).
I am going to fetch my electrical stuff and dh's rx's, then perhaps make some banana nut muffins because I have 3 bowls of fruit that didn't get eaten. Guess the pears will be deer food. ok... adulting outside the home.1 -
Well last day of my new year's break today. Sort of. I start work at 3pm. So am going to get the last of the bits needed for this huge cross stitch I'm doing. The fabric is about 35" x 24" (1.1m x 0.6m). I can't wait. I've always wanted to do one this bug and never had the courage. Should take me about 2 years (ok probably closer to 5).
I got the pattern from etsy and of course had to make sure NZ was on it bahaha.
I had another huge woosh, lost 2.2lb overnight! So on day 10 I've lost 2kg or 4.4lb! Makes me really glad I managed to get through those few days that were a struggle.
Today is cross training, so actually used the app on my bike. I enjoyed it! And some strength. Now to relax before work.2 -
@swenson19d I have never used any of those food services. I just can't see paying the extra, but a lot of people love them. As for the dreams - yeah, spending too much time listening to true crime will do that to you. I've dreamed for the last several nights that I was out in public/at school and no one had on a mask, not even me. I panicked. Guess this is replacing the "being back in the AF and being out in public without my hat." LOL
@shanaber I don't think I would want to do the IF. I know it is something that I wouldn't stick to. Sorry your hamstring is still acting up. Hope your PCP can help. I don't get why people still aren't wearing mask correctly. It's like they still think it's a hoax of something. Crazy. I have not read that book. Got tired just reading the title. It sounds interesting though.
You are doing so good @Avidkeo! That's a cool cross stitch piece (it's counted, I assume). I used to love to do that, before I took up quilting. Haven't done either in several years. I'll have to put up a couple of pictures at some point, if I don't forget, of my favorites.
I had my pre-op stuff done today. A lot of the test results are already available on-line and they look good. So, barring nothing else happening, the surgery is on for Friday.

Yep counted cross stitch. I quilt as well, and have several projects of each type on the go. Quilting I tend to do over winter, cross stitch I tend to do in summer.1 -
DD's covid test was negative again. I don't understand how I got it during a 1-hour pt visit and DD doesn't get it living with two people that are positive and Dh is a germ factory. I am glad got her though. The NP told her she HAS to get her BP under control or she will damage her kidneys, her PCP is on her because of the potential heart damage... Pray she listens to just one of them.
I made the Dean's Honor role. Sure that gets me nothing other than an honorable mention.
No new cat for bear, I took a nap instead. No electrical work because they really were out of the outlet box I need. Amazon of course and my low beam headlap went out so Amazon again. I think I am 1-3 for amazon purchases this year, only one day I have not bought anything.2 -

Re: the science and being contagious... considering that our contact tracing can’t figure out where 65% of new cases got it, I am not at all confident that they know what’s safe or that their studies have any validity. It’s all very well and good to say, “Oh, we aren’t seeing a lot of new cases from fomites, no need to disinfect surfaces,” for example, but the thing is, 65% of cases could be coming from fomites for all they know. If you are counting horses and have predecided that only black horses count as horses, your report will say that all horses are black and you didn’t see any red ones.3
