@bearly63 I haven't had any more chest pain. Not sure what that was all about. The doctor changed up my medicine again and that seems to be working at keeping my BP and HR more in line with what I think it should be. I think I just need to give my body time to get over the trauma of the surgery. I feel so good, I forget what my body has been through.
Glad you were able to get your son the J&J shot.
Hugs in regards to your pup. That's so hard.
Glad your hip is feeling better for now.
You're doing great with your food and exercise. I don't think I'm disciplined enough to do the macro thing. I just try to not get too much sodium and don't worry too much about anything else.

@Swenson19d So, did you get any help from the Neuro? It doesn't really sound like it. I guess you'll know more after you get the MRI results.

@quilteryoyo No, I have no new information from the neuro except I can probably not worry about having a brain eating prion disease. She has been super prompt with the communications. The lab were posted amazingly quick and she did update the B12 and CK that I couldn't see with the notes. She reviewed my labs at 930 the night I saw her. So I am happy to feel that she is on top of things if there is anything to be on top of. Glad the chest pain has subsided, perhaps it was gas or something equally benign.

@bearly63 Glad the vaccination hunt paid off, I'm excited with the kids off to school. Keep my DD in your thoughts once while on campus- see if it won't continue to call to her through the ether.

Those boys are a mess. We all should feel that loved. Although I don't wanna share my big bowl, LOL! Well I would with bear, he's just my baby bug.

I still need to quit eating so much. I think this summer I may be able to try the bike (maybe even outside), well I could use the trainer now... hmm ya, i should. I noticed my upper arms are dimpling. I gotta do something.

    Good morning folks!

@bearly63 Your poor dog, I know how that feels to have have them have that. Our vet put our cat on Terbutaline 2x a day. It is a cough suppressant and it also dilates blood vessels so he gets more bang for his buck on oxygen. We also have a very expensive steroid inhaler that really makes a difference too.

@swenson19d My grandma grew up in the country and she talked about how breakfast was calf brains and eggs. She also didn't say she liked it, and I never saw her eat it when I was growing up. My dad did LOVE liver and onions though, no one else in the family would touch it.

We had our telework day yesterday, it was boring but at least short. I was able to work on my reselling business the whole time the meetings were going on. After I had time to zip down to costco to get gas (it is .27 cents cheaper) and stopped by the goodwill for some "therapy". This goodwill is about double the price of all the others in the area, no idea why. Had to refill my cats inhaler prescription, every time I go the pharmacist looks at me and says "do you know how much this is?"...yeah yeah, trust me, I know. Got home and went for a 5 mile run on the flats and got chased by a swarm of bees...speed work.

I was supposed to be off today to dial into the preliminary trial hearing this morning, but something happened between the final pre-preliminary hearing on Tuesday when they set the prelim date (Today) and yesterday afternoon. The DA's office sent me an email saying that we had a possible 30 day continuation WTF!!!! I sent them an email back asking why, they aren't too good about giving me the details. Any lawyers in this group who can explain this to me? But at this rate, looks like my hope of a June trial may be happening...that would be 6 months the kid has sat in jail waiting for a trial.

Today we have the pre-move survey for the packers and a 4 mile run this afternoon. Hubby's apartment complex offers free moving service, so he is trying to coordinate that. In good news, we were offered a house on Vandenberg, so I don't have to go house hunting now. We can't move in till mid June so I will need to probably stay in the travel trailer. The hotel on base is $129 a night so that is a bit much. They have an RV campground on base, we will see if it would be worth taking the trailer down there or just driving from mom's (40 min commute). Only annoying thing is is there is no internet at mom's.

Well, I better start tackling my to-do list..7 duty days left!

@CMorning99 You sound so busy. I'm tired for you!I assumed it was pig brains, perhaps it was cow. Still yuck. DH said he remembers being fed them as a kid and wasn't keen on it. I think it was a grandparent that gave them to him but wouldn't tell him what it was until he ate it. So wrong.

    I scheduled the MRI.
Why do people have to be difficult? I called the company scheduler and they must have misunderstood the order and argued to schedule it after my follow up appointment, then decided they'd do a week before. Ok whatever crazy person. So I hung up and called the actual imaging center and rescheduled it for April the 16th. I want to see the rad report before I trek back to Baylor and look at the scans myself.

@swenson19d Did the neuro say anything about your legs stiffening up? Hope you are able to bike some this summer. Glad you got the MRI scheduled.

@CMorning99 I love liver and onions. Haven't had it in a long time. Mom would cook it for me and dad, but wouldn't eat it because of the texture, pre cooked. LOL
A swarm of bees will add some speed work to your run. Hope you managed to out run them all.
Hugs regarding the trail. I can't imagine how hard all of the delays are for you. At least the kid is off the streets and can't harm anyone else.
You are doing great getting your runs in with everything else that is going on!

Morning all. Lots of appointment shenanigans from the sound of it.

Today is Friday! I'm working in ED today so hopefully it goes fast. Then home, pack, sleep and up at 530 tomorrow to catch a plane! I'm too excited.

Foods been.... Well the loading continues. I've given up basically. I'll worry about catching the wagon on Monday. I'm going to just enjoy a weekend away with my mum.

My mom was married to a rancher before she met my dad (amicable split) and they used to eat brains too, with scrambled eggs. YUCK! Not being a big fan of eggs I can't think of too many things more disgusting. My mom was pretty big on using all parts. I think I have mentioned we mostly ate venison when I was a kid. She would bake the heart, the tongue and also cook liver and other parts I am sure I can't or don't want to remember. I did not like any of those things, especially the texture but also the taste. She even tried slicing the liver really thin, coating it in batter and deep frying it. It was still gross.

@rheddmobile - your description of the legal system is spot on! It is sad for victims or victims families to have to deal with the pain over and over for years. @cmorning99 I hope you don't have to go for years but like @rheddmobile said you want the process to play out with no possibility of it being overturned. I also think often times the postponements happen because another trial might have gone long and some of the key players (lawyers or judge, etc.) aren't available.
It sounds like things are falling in place for your move and I am happy you will get a house on base.
@swenson19d - love the picture of Bear and Cori! It looks like Beary is trying to tell you to leave them alone while they snuggle!
I hope the MRI has some indication of what is going on so you get some answers. I was actually hoping there would be some sort of imbalance that would explain it all in your lab work. I guess they would have seen it already if there were though.
@bearly63 _ glad you are doing well. I am going to look up that Move The World event with Kathrine Switzer. I have done several of the Becs Gentry runs, but haven't seen that specific one so I will look for it. That is pretty cool that she made it to the Olympic trials but it would suck to come in 3rd and not make the team.
So happy you scored a vaccine appointment for your son! Has your daughter gotten hers too?
I am sorry about your pup! It is so hard when they are ailing and we can't do much for them.
Curious on the macros on MFP... Do you pay for the Premium version or just try to get as close as you can with the free version? I find it frustrating that I can't adjust they way I want to but refuse to pay when I don't feel it is really worth it in additional functionality...

I am having an unplanned rest day. We had bees in a block wall at the front of our house (ornamental wall with a gate into the front walk) so we called the bee movers and they came this morning. It is a fascinating process and I spent most of the day watching through our living room window. There were so many and the bee guy said they had only been there for maybe 3 weeks. I thought they had been there since December since that is when I first saw them hanging around. Pictures and a short video under the split. These were all taken by one of the bee guys.

The canister on top has all the bees and queen from the hive. The few loose bees will try to follow the canister in the car because it has the queen. They will all be transported to a new location with bee boxes or provided to farmers who keep bees.

wow @shanaber the bees are cool.

(hugs) @rheddmobile I didn't know you went through that. I had a coworker that lost a niece by murder, I don't recall how long the trial lasted. Still a horrible ordeal. Once day perhaps our legal system will improve.

@quilteryoyo No the neuro didn't say and i kinda pressed a bit, I decided she was still collecting evidence so left it. She mentioned stress being a cause but I haven't seen such a thing ever before in a stressed person, perhaps she meant stress can exacerbate whatever is going on and I agree with that.

I failed to not eat everything today and took a 4 hour nap on the couch. I may need bigger pajamas at this rate, LOL!

@Avidkeo Enjoy your weekend and have a great race. Look forward to hearing all about it!

@shanaber Interesting about the bees. I'm so surprised that he thinks they've only been there 3 weeks. They've been busy! Glad you were able to get them relocated.

@swenson19d I hope you get better answers from the neuro once she gets all of the test results.

    good morning!

@swenson19D You saying "you are busy" made me stop and look at my post and realize, wow, I am. I think we get wrapped up in our day to day life and just move from one task to the next that you don't realize it. I don't feel busy, I just remember the time I sit on the couch watching youtube videos LOL. But I will make an effort to be nicer to myself.

@rheddmobile Thank you for the perspective. When it first happened the DA told me he thought we would go to trial in apr/may. But people kept getting quarantined and reports were delayed. I did get an answer back, they said the subpoenas only went out a week before the hearing and they couldn't get everyone. We are scheduled again for 6 May, hopefully with more notice so folks can make it.

Another day another dollah! More of the same today busy busy!

We have marriage #3 in the flight! Now we just need 1 more baby. This is another unfortunate situation and I question the motives. This Amn has been homesick from day 1. They are from Ohio and their mother a couple months ago developed seizures. The Docs have ruled out all the dangerous causes and I think she said they diagnosed her with PTI (seizures caused from TBI)...I have no idea how her mother got this and per Doc Google it may go away in about 5 yrs. But her mother can't drive and she feels her family is not taking it as seriously as she would like. She tried for a humanitarian reassignment but there are no bases super close and she does not meet the requirements (the main one being she has family available and they not WANTING to help is not an AF issue) and generally the case as to be desperate. So her plan, marry a guy stationed in VA so she can be closer to home. le sigh. I suspect it is someone she met in technical training, which means she has known him for about a year and was only with him for a couple months and I guess have been a long distance since then. At this point I am going to take the stance of my Mom when I ran off and got married at 18 "I hope you find happiness and if not, well no harm no foul and you are bout to learn some life lessons babygirl".

I got a 4 mile slog in yesterday, my legs feel thrashed from it. Not sure why my legs feel like mush and I am not recovering.

Today I have to run our old kitty to the eye doc. His eye ruptured back in early Dec and we are not sure what is going. But b/c of a heart condition, he cant have surgery so we are managing. He is so stoic and still a happy kitty. The good part of this is there is an amazing Mexican restaurant near the vet (almost an hour from home)

Rest day on running and then 10 miles this weekend.

@CMorning99 You are a busy lady. Just getting ready to move is enough, without working and dealing with your husband finding a job, the trial, etc. You are doing great. I agree with you and hope for the best for all of the Amn getting married. I understand how she would want to be near her mother, but VA isn't going to be "next door" or make her available for daily activities. Sounds like she needs to talk to the rest of the family and/or research agencies that can help.

I hope your cat does ok. There are some really good Mexican restaurants in CA - and some great one's near Vandenburg, as I recall. Of course, that was 25 years ago, so probably isn't there anymore. LOL I'm getting old!

Hope your run goes well this weekend.

Mom had a carotid ultra sound today, so while we were in town, we did our shopping. She wanted to get Wendy's takeout for dinner, so we did. I did do good and made myself do my run before I ate. Still have some calories left for evening snacks.

    Good Morning!

    @quilteryoyo Thank you!

Up early, everyone is still asleep. So I am enjoying coffee and having a slow morning.

We had the Mexican food for dinner, their plate could/should feed a person for 3 meals! I ate till I had a tummy ache. We all probably did as my 2 old kitties sat on the couch with me and we took turns who got a bite of carnitas 😂

I am not hungry this morning and am going to listen to my body and not eat till hungry. DH and I need to run down to his new apt to turn in the deposit. He “found out” utilities are not included and not cable ready. I usually do all this for us so he is learning what questions to ask before hand lol.

4 mile run this morning, my ankle/Achilles is sore from Thursday slog, I need to stretch more. Meh.

Here is a photo of the view from moms ranch... makes it all worth it.

@CMorning99 Wow, that is some view! I don't know why your DH would balk at living there. Hope you have a great rest of your day.

Guess what I got in the mail today.......another notice from the IRS that I didn't pay my 2019 taxes so they are going to put a lien on my property! Don't know if you recall that whole debacle, but I did pay it in March of last year, they cashed the check but didn't post it to my account. I have talked to them 3 times over the last 9 months and each time they said it would be taken care of. The last time, the lady said she would put a note on my account so they wouldn't send anymore notice AND I sent them a letter with a copy of the cancelled check. Of course they are closed today. I'm getting ready to contact my lawyer and Congressman. This is ridiculous. I haven't done my taxes this year because I was afraid this was the case. I'm sure they will say I owe this amount when filing, and, on the off chance that I get a refund, they'll keep it. I'm so frustrated.

@quilteryoyo Do you have an IRS plan? Maybe call them again? I think if you get a lawyer to submit the proof of payment they will listen.

Nothing new here really. Just wrapping up semester work, then I can spend all day with the violin. DH wants me to go walk a mile today. I said "no way", I'll walk to the gate and back which is less than half. I have clinical this week and am saving up for 8 hours not on my butt. For whatever reason, the back of my neck is broken out in acne. No idea why. I upped the daily antibiotic since my face was grumpy red so I don't see how. I hope it's gone by thursday so I can wear my hair up for clinical. Dh an I talked about the prospect of a hip replacement. I still am unnerved by it. None of the other surgeries bothered me and I was ready to get them done. Plan is to just go see what this new doc thinks. Bear is still too cute and my buddy constantly. He's learned to come in at night and not have a fit and sulk over it. I am letting him stay out til 10ish and he brings himself in. There is always a reward of playtime so I think that helps.

What are you all up to? Grand summer plans? New shoes? New summer eats?

@swenson19d I actually got another letter in the regular mail yesterday that let me know that they had received to letter I had written them at the end of January (said they received it 30 March) and if I received another notice to call them - a different number. So I am going to call that one tomorrow and see what they say.
Sounds like you are having a relaxing day. I hope the walk went well.
My son-in-law has had both hips replaced - the second one he just had done 2 weeks ago. He says it's so much better after. Maybe it is something you should consider.

No grand summer plans. May try to do a few races. I'm thinking about signing up for the AF HM again. And, hope to get back into in person church and maybe make a trip to FL to see the step kids and their kids and their kids. LOL

Thanks @quilteryoyo , I am considering the replacement, if it is what is suggested. I’ll probably do it. I don’t hear stories of regret, so I think it’d be wise if the doc thinks I’ll improve my function and pain.

@quilteryoyo - I hope you can get things straightened out with the IRS. At least you have something physical from them now acknowledging the payment.
@swenson19d - When do you see the new surgeon? I think if they recommend the THR I would give it consideration, especially if it means you will be able to move around more and with less pain. I don't know anyone who has had it done who regretted it. I have had friends have a tough recovery though but I think it really depends on the surgeon and how they go about it. I also have a friend who had her 1st one when she was around 17 for a congenital defect. She is on her 2nd one now and would have been in a wheel chair without it.

Friday I had a good run and we got Mexican takeout. After dinner I got a frantic call from our 87yo friend. Her cat had clawed her hand when she went too pet her and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I ran over and it was spurting blood everywhere. I had her hold pressure on it with an entire package of gauze pads and a bunch of washcloths and I called 911. By the time they got there the EMT checked it and it was no longer spurting. They bandaged it and said it should be fine. It was until the paramedics had them take her BP (same arm) and it immediately bled through the bandage they had just put on. The paramedic didn't want to take her to the hospital, said if it started bleeding again I could just get her to the hospital. I was incredulous that they would even consider leaving her at home alone with a cut bleeding like it was and knowing I had no way to get her to the hospital. Honestly I would have driven her there in the 1st place if I could have. I think he realized I was pissed because he then agreed to go ahead and have her transported. I suspect it meant a lot more paperwork for them on a Friday evening. Oh Well!
She had about 20 stitches and the PA was surprised at how deep the cut was. It was L shaped, hit a vein and he was worried it may have hit the nerve but so far that seems ok. I didn't get home from the hospital until almost midnight and then waited for them to bring her home and help her get settled at home. My Dh was awesome though and had gone over while we were gone and cleaned up all the blood from the floors - it was in 3 rooms and the hallway!

Needless to say I didn't get out for my run Saturday morning, I did make some amazing biscuits to have for dinner with soup that I had pulled out of the freezer. We had leftover buttermilk and cream from the birthday cake I made for Dh so I used it in the biscuits. So delicious - dangerous!
Believe it or not though my weight is down again. Not a lot but the lowest it has been since last June and so far it has not gone back up after my IBS bout weekend.

Busy couple of days coming up with PT for me and appointments for Hilde. Wednesday the housekeeper is coming so we are going to take Hobbes down to visit his breeder who has his brother and nephew. I am sure he will have a blast and will be exhausted after playing with them.

@shanaber oh wow! Sorry to hear about Hilde! dang. It needed 20 stitches and the EMS balked at transporting her? Sounds like Hobbes has an exciting week planned! I don't think I have ever made great biscuits. Once I got the pancake batter just right with buttermilk and poured it over half cooked bacon and it was amazing, but just once.and the pancake was only half cooked- i like dough and batter. I wonder if Hilde's cat really did get her? Sounds brutal for a cat grab, but with frail skin I can see it. Poor thing must have been panicked.

I see the new hip surgeon the 27th. He's new because my hip surgeon doesn't do replacements... which is kinda odd. And I guess my favorite trauma surgeon, who did the leg, does trauma and not THR... boo. Maybe I'll feel better about it after the visit if it is recommended. But you know if it isn't, I'll be put out as to why I have to live like this with no help, poor poor me. :p

I have that group project presentation today that we've been working on the past 10 weeks. Thank goodness that's done. The group is meeting early to go over it and prepare, I am bringing breakfast. I am looking forward to a chickfila egg white grill. ah the simple things... Anyway Bear got me up an hour early... and I was already planning to get up an hour early.

DD is trying to wiggle out of classes. *sigh*

Her birthday is closing in. Alex's birthday is closing in and it is so hard. I found myself crying last night and hadn't realized why. Perhaps DD is feeling the same and classes seem stupid when her heart aches. I plan on crying all day from now til june 6th. It sure doesn't feel like its been 10 months, truly feels like yesterday..

onward. I must go find Cori for Bear now. Least I can give him his buddy.

Was it Hilde that got clawed so badly @shanaber ? I feel so badly for her and can't believe that that they decided to take her blood pressure on the arm where she was bleeding so badly AND then didn't want to transport her when it was obviously so bad. I would have been pissed too. 20 stitches...bless her heart. My mom's cat scratches her occasionally. Mom makes it worse by instinctively jerky away when he starts. He has tried that with me and I don't move my hand but just tell him no and he doesn't scratch. I try to get mom to do that, but she just can't stop herself from pulling her hand away. I hope he never gets her that badly because she would really panic. Your DH was great to go clean up the mess. I have a feeling most men wouldn't even think about that. Hope the PT goes well and that Hobbes has a great time visiting his relatives.

@swenson19d It's weird how hard things like birthdays can be after someone passes away. Hugs to you and DD. I hope she can manage to continue with school. Good luck with the presentation! Hope you like the new surgeon. If hip replacements is what he does, I'm pretty sure he will suggest it if he thinks it will help you.

I'm on hold with the IRS. It's been 25 minutes so far. They estimated 30 - 60 minutes. The letter I received didn't say that they had received my payment @shanaber . It said they had received the letter I had written with all of the information about the calls I had made and a copy of the check. I mailed the letter on Jan 26. They say they "received it" on March 30th! Somehow I doubt it actually took 3 months to get from here to Kansas City. Hopefully I'll feel better once I talk to someone this morning.

Good morning all. Not quite ready to take on Monday but here it is so I shall have too!

@swenson19d sorry about the birthdays and tears....it has gone by so fast.....this whole year was blur. I have also never heard anyone regret the HR....once they get past the rehab, it was such an improvement. I will most likely someday need one.....I will send mental positive thoughts to your DD so she suddenly sees the importance of education as the means to an end....

@CMorning99 Wow....can't imagine trying to give my pup an inhaler....that would be work. That picture is incredible! Where is the ranch? You do sound so busy and manage to stay so positive. Amazing!

@shanaber OMG that cat scratch. What a bunch of numnuts....she lost some blood and her age alone....you guys are such incredible friends. Was mesmerized by the bee video. They are so important and in trouble! congrats on the weight. I do pay for the full version of MFP. Tracking macros is no different than calories. I set my diary settings to track by my macros, set my macro goals in grams to add up to my total calories, and then as I add food to my diary, my view shows me how much of each I have left for the day. I am getting used to it and it does make me think about my protein intake which is my first focus.

@quilteryoyo The IRS needs to be revamped. They are out of control. They spend so much time going after the little people and let the big corporations hire 1000s of tax attorneys to legally not pay any taxes at all and even get tax refunds and credits on billions of profits. I am so supportive of raising their rates back to 28% (from 35% when Trump took office) and having a Global minimum tax. We could then fix our crumbling roads, bridges, air traffic control system, power grid, water systems.....ok ok....off my soap box. I hope you can just call them and take care of it.

Had a fun weekend - took the DD to Houston to meet up with DS so they could walk around their campuses and and also lay eyes on potential apartments. I am so excited for them.....this next few years of intellectual growth....so jealous! I could be a lifetime student if money allowed!

Heading into a big riding challenge this coming weekend. I am not prepared since I am riding so much less due to the focus on strength. It will truly be a challenge and my butt is gonna pay the price. Going for 205 miles in 2 days.....probably take me 12 hours at an avg pace

Food was rough this weekend. It's really hard to eat out and celebrate and stay clean. I ate pizza, gryos, and mexican and had some drinks. Back at this week and then need to adjust my fueling by Wednesday to prepare for the weekend.

@bearly63 Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Don't feel guilty about having fun, and lots of food, every once in a while. It think we need to allow ourselves to do that in order to stay on track in the long run. Love the pictures. Your children beautiful/handsome.

Finally got off of the phone with the IRS after and hour and 10 minutes - about a 45 minute hold before speaking to someone. I felt he was a little bit rude to begin with, but I guess he is so used to people being rude to him that he was expecting that instead of the pleasant call that I made myself have. Won't go into the nitty gritty, but, this guy put an extension on my account for 120 days so they will have time to take care of it. He said to follow up in around 60 days to see where they are. The one thing I did have to bite my tongue was when he said, "There will not be a fee to place this extension on your account." I so wanted to yell, "There had better not be?" Seriously, he acted like he was doing me a favor. Anyway, at the end he thanked me for a pleasant conversation. So, now it is another wait and see if it is really taken care of or not.

We are planning to apply to FEMA for mom to get some money back for dad's funeral, since it was CoVID related. I have been trying to call them all day and all circuits were busy, as I expected them to be. I finally got through to them at 6:50pm. Even though I think they quit taking calls at 7, apparently they are going to help anyone who was on hold at 7. However, I was caller 3,552 in line. They said the estimated wait time was 30 minutes. Not too bad. We'll they keep updating it about every 2 minutes. I am now in the 2,900's in line, but the wait time goes up every time - I'm up to 55 minutes as of the last update. I hate to hang up, so will hold on as long as I need to. I knew having to call and speak with someone to file a claim was going to be a disaster in itself. There should have been another way. Up to 56 minute wait time. I'll check back later and let you know if I ever got to talk to anyone or not.

So, I just held on the phone last night because I was curious what would happen when it came my turn. At 11:22 pm, yes, 4.5 hours later, the system said I was #3 in line with a wait time of 265 minutes. Then, the next minute it was answered by a recording that said they would have to transfer me in order for my call to be answered. I was transferred and this recording said my wait time was 2 minutes, then 1 minute. Then I was put on hold with some lovely soothing music. I hung up at midnight. LOL

Tried again this morning. The recording said they will be there 9 - 9 Eastern Time. So, I called at 9. Finally got through at 9:10 and was 2,280 in line with a 9 min wait time. It's now 9:38, I'm 1520 in line and have a 34 minute wait time. At least today they are giving the option to have someone call you back when it's your turn in line. But, I won't be by this phone when I leave for my CoVID shot, so I'm just holding on for a little bit, knowing that they probably won't answer before I leave. I just don't get why they estimate so low to begin with and then increase the time by one - two minutes every time they update....unless it's a cumulative time, which is not helpful at all.
