I don't have doggie care responsibilities this week, but mom and I did visit with the family today. Two of the puppies were too cute to not take pictures to share and hopefully brighten everyone's day.

Yay....made it past Monday, my least favorite day of the week.
@quilteryoyo The puppies are so cute!!!! Probably great therapy for your mom too....they make everyone feel good! And you must eat Oreos if its an open package! And you have earned a few with all that awesome yard work.

@Avidkeo Love your confidence! You know what to do and execute! And yes to husbands and weight. Mine decides to lose a little weight and boom, just falls off. Not fair.

@ddmom0811 the more and more I read, the more there is science to full rest days one day a week at minimum. I struggle but am trying to make my rest day a yoga/stretch/meditation day. That counts right? So fun to hang with the grandkids.....I am going to be so old before I ever see one....

@swenson19d great job on the test.....and agree with Avidkeo - go to the neuro appt. Knowledge is power. Ask a bunch of questions. Write them all down before you go. Own the appt. You won't regret it. And that picture is hysterical. Looks like a Cat wrestling pin!

My weight is down again. Lowest since I can remember or since they invented the scale maybe. I hit my numbers yesterday and did a longish workout on Sunday so that is probably the deal. Trying to decide if I should up my cals/macros. Trying to add muscle so I am fine with 5 lbs up from here if I can see some definition. It takes time. Just trying to be consistent. Hip is feeling the best its felt in a while. Don't know if the shot or the meloxocam did it or the combo. Wonder if I should go off the meloxicam and see if its the same without it. Do not like being on prescriptions unless absolutely necessary.

@bearly63 If I had had an open package of Oreos I would have eaten them. I can't have them in the house. LOL As is it, I'm up almost a pound from yesterday. I did eat a lot last night - left overs from Sunday. I know the calories weren't there for gaining a pound, so it has to be water retention. I did drink lots of water yesterday. I'm not worried about it.

Yeah for your weight loss and your hip feeling great. I don't really like taking medications either, but sometimes they are necessary. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about stopping the meloxicam or trying something else. I just read on WebMD that it is not good to take that medication long term.

    Good morning folks!

Back to work today! I am off Mondays and it is so since to have a weekday to get things done. We are currently working a 4 day work week and I am loving it.

I didn't quite get back on the wagon this weekend but I did get double digit runs in. I ran by myself for the first time in a long time, used the peloton app and I was surprised how much faster I ran. I guess I was able to just zone out and go.

I also "forgot" to weigh myself this morning. I had an x-ray of my hip done b/c it has been achy when I sit. I initially went to just have them pop my hip, but they did an x-ray to be safe. Turns out I have calcium deposits on my labrum (I had to google that LOL). No idea what that means, I just know it hurts to rotate my hip out, but doesn't hurt to run. For now, anti-inflammatories (which I won't use unless I am dying), stretch, strengthen, and "be lighter on my feet"...I asked what? He said don't gain weight and put more pressure on the joint b/c he knows I am not going to stop running. Last resort is surgery when I cant stand it anymore.

I was ready to get back on the roll when DH delivered a "mess" again for breakfast...1,300 calories...le sigh. He is trying to butter me up b/c he knows I am frustrated with him and his lack of urgency. He needs to find a job down at the new base or find an apt up here in the next 3 weeks. He also needs to transfer to a new medical provider, which under the best circumstances is a nightmare.

Today is a 4 miler and food, well, I will just be careful to eat when I am hungry and drink lots of water.

    Morning guys.

Well last night I chipped a tooth. While flossing. Well a chunk came off. It's the very back tooth on the right side at the bottom. I think this time it's coming out. I'm really annoyed because I only had xrays a month ago, they highlighted some fillings needed which I got done, and this tooth wasn't one of them. It's not sore, but aching a bit. And now has food stuck in it. Great.

So goal for today: see if I can get to see the dentist. It usually takes 2 weeks to get an appt...

Other than that, still ticking over. Food continues to be good. Its easy when I'm in routine lol

Thanks. In the last 20 mins it's been getting more painful. Going to take pain relief. Going to be a long day I think

@CMorning99 Yay for the 4 day work week! Sorry about the hip pain. Hopefully it will be a while, if ever, before surgery is necessary. I hope your DH gets himself in gear and does what needs to be done. That has to be stressful.

Oh no @Avidkeo ! That's horrible. I hope you were able to get a dentist appointment today and get it taken care of. I think around here they usually save some spots for emergencies, which this sounds like it is. Other than that, it sounds like you are doing great!

@ddmom0811 - when I sleep like that I always take it as a sign that my body needs the rest. Glad you got to send some time with those littles! Such fun ages!!

@swenson19d - iPhone apps... yes you can configure what kind of alert you want and on some (depends on the app) you can chose if you want a sound and which sound or if you want a vibration or both. I don't think I have ever seen one though that has a volume for a specific app. If you look in Settings/Notifications all of your apps should be there and under each one there will be the choices available for that app. I have most all of mine turned off - so no notifications.
Congrats on the B on your test! Was this the one you had to do well on or repeat the course?
Like everyone else said - keep the Neuro Appointment!

@quilteryoyo - some of your days wear me out just reading about them!
I do love those puppy pictures. Would love to rub those fat bellies and oh those pink toe beans are so sweet!

@bearly63 - so glad your hip is feeling better! Getting that definition is so hard to do and takes so long. Hope you can get to where you want to be.
@avidkeo - I hope you can get your tooth taken care of today! OUCH!!

So we had DHs birthday over the weekend (actual birthday was yesterday). Sunday night he bbq'd steaks and I made a cake. We ate a little late and then much later had cake and I am just not used to that any longer. I went to bed very late for me (11:30) and was so uncomfortable. Our SIL made him a huge pot of Hungarian cabbage balls (cooked with sauerkraut not tomato sauce) so we had that for dinner last night. It is actually a pretty healthy meal although it has a lot of sodium from the sauerkraut.

The white chocolate ganache filling was good but there just wasn't enough of it. I added a couple of tablespoons of Chambord to give it a slight raspberry flavor which worked out just fine. The other issue is the cake while tasty, is very crumbly and sticks to the plate. People commented about it on the recipe and I should have thought about putting something on the plate. I did use parchment to keep it from sticking to the pan. I think I would make it again, the cake is very rich with both sour cream and buttermilk, so maybe with a different cake recipe. Also there was a ton of frosting, you might able to see how thick it is in the picture of the cut cake. DH loved it but I could do with a lot less.

Today we had our first outing in a year to an indoor facility (other than Costco or a grocery store). We went to see an exhibit at a local museum on the Disney Archives. Very few other people there (you have to buy tickets for time slots) and we enjoyed wandering and reading about all things Disney. We also took in an exhibit on Gold and Jade sculptures from Taiwan all featuring scenes from nature; butterflies, ants, mantis, birds, etc.. It was fascinating as well - they had videos on the process that was used to make the gold sculptures. A few pictures below the split that don't really do them justice.

There was also a sculpture of a tree with thousands of leaves as well as dragon flies, praying mantis, and other 'bugs'. I couldn't get a decent picture of it because of the lighting. It was incredible.

@shanaber thanks for the iPhone info. I Google it and can't turn the ringer down without it turning down the alarm, I think. I did figure out to just silence the phone with the switch and the alarm still rings. So it is solved.
The exam isn't the class or assignment that I need a B on or fail and sit out a year. That is a major care plan that hasn't been assigned to me yet. I had another student tell me that she'd never heard of anyone actually failing it. So, that helps and I bought a new textbook that has some great information to help.

@Avidkeo Yikes, take care of that tooth. If you are like me, it’ll get bad on a weekend or holiday and it’ll be in agony for days.

@quilteryoyo I’ve been thinking about your neighbor with the heart condition and no possibility of treatment often. My exam tomorrow is on cardiac meds. I understand a bit more about the prognosis and that is just terrible, since a Ventricular assisted device would help, but I think you mentioned she wouldn’t survive surgery.

Back to my pharmacology book. Oh thanks all for telling me to go to the neurologist. I will go. Maybe I will get a brain mri. That’d be cool to see. Dh said I definitely need one, lol.

@shanaber That cake looks delicious. I'm with you though - more ganache and less icing! My husband and I always grilled steak on special occasions. That was our first date - grilled steak at his house. LOL I don't do it for just myself. Anyway, I'm sure it was delicious! Tell DH happy birthday! a day late. Glad you enjoyed the museum and the sculptures are amazing.

@swenson19d I don't know what med they are giving her, but it's supposed to improve the heart efficacy, which had gone all the was down to 10%! Last night, it made her BP go really low. I think they are still giving it to her, but in smaller dose. They discharged her today with a life vest to her son's home. Doesn't sound safe to me, but I'm not a cardiologist. They are hoping the medicine will help improve her heart enough that she can have the valve replaced. They said it needed to get up to 30% and could take up to 3 months.

    It's 430 AM, what are ya'll doin?

I woke up on cat time so I just went with it. Bear is happy and being a silly thing wanting me to play. That's fine, it'll give me time to do nothing before I head off to campus at 630. I don't want to strain my brain reviewing for the noon exam, maybe I will watch pharmacology videos.

Dh bought new pants because his all shrank. He only bought a 34 from a 33 and is complaining that they are tight too. Maybe it will spur him to quit buying junk. maybe...

    Jerks, buzzing and spaciticity.
Now might be a good time to log stuff for the neuro consult. All of my symptoms are mild still and I have been back on the antidepressant a month. I have been curious to see if I can provoke any of it. The spaciticity is the only thing I elicit, all I have to do is walk a bit down to the ravine and back and my legs go stiff. The other day I took a box or something out to the polycart, then a bag, then a something else and my legs went stiff for a bit and it was flat ground. It didn't last more than 2 minutes. I have an 8 hour clinical thursday and am really concerned how I am going to manage if I have a spastic event, especially in front of someone- like the instructor. I can tell my mates that I'm "dorky" and laugh it off but the instructor, being an RN may have serious questions. I may pack half a valium and some tylenol. At least I am not having the back/rib/chest/abdominal tightness and pain anymore. My back, hips, chest and shoulders pop a lot since I have less inflammation- still taking the turmeric.

off to journal notes for the neuro. Be well.

    Good morning!

Busy day filling out the continuity book for my boss/replacement. I really take for granted the things inside by brain, it is rare that someone calls about an issue I haven't heard of. We got a "ding" on a program we manage, I knew it was a bit rough but hadn't gotten to it, it is a minor program but by-law so it was kinda big deal. I have already fixed most of it, it was us just being lazy.

Yesterday food was maybe maintenance, I didn't track. Did get my 4 miler in and felt pretty good. Loving the peloton outdoor running programs. I wish they had more longer ones. I think they only have 7 that are over an hour. My hip is still achy and IDK what I did to my shoulder but holy cow, lifting my arm is ouchy. Oh well, whatever.

Today I have a 5 miler scheduled and have a running partner. Freezer is getting pretty low as we get closer to moving so breakfast was popcorn and rice-a-roni microwave rice LOL. I did get on the scale and we are holding steady, so need to get back on it and start dropping again.

I saw a picture of my boss with his shirt off, an old coworker who is friends on FB with him found it, DUDE IS RIPPED! OMG! I was teasing him about it yesterday, explains his sad little low carb lunches.

Back to trying to push things through. Movers need 21 days notice to pack the house but I cant do that until I have a funding line...no one seems in a hurry but me.

@runs_on_espresso who's doing vaccinations at 2am!! But then I guess if they are wanting to get through everyone fast that's the way to do it. Eep. At least its after you finish right? Either way, yay for jab!

@swenson19 I'm glad you are logging symptoms. That spasticity events sounds scary.

@CMorning99 hugs on the sore limbs. Moving is so frustrating!

Tooth not sorted, can't get into the dentist till Monday grrr. Fortunately it's only mildly achy. I'm using salt rinces to help keep it that way.

Foods been good. Today I'm in angio again, and the dr on Thursday always brings in the yummiest food - brownie, spannish omelette, quiche, ginger slice. All my favourite stuff. And it's kept in the control room where I sit. So I've instructed my student to remind me not to have any. I always try just a little bit, and that turns into a lot. Sigh. So no treats I don't need.

Remember I never regret food I don't have!

@avidkeo we have a couple of sites that have been doing overnight times. And with summer coming they are transitioning to all night time because who wants to be outside when it's 100°+. (These are drive thru sites and volunteers are there for like 8 hours)

@RunsOnEspresso Makes sense to me. Hope it all goes well.

@CMorning99 Great job on your running and getting ready to move. Had to laugh at your breakfast. I don't think I've ever had that combination, let alone for breakfast. LOL I'm surprised, but glad, you didn't get in trouble for teasing your boss. Mom and I were just talking today about how "sensitive" people are these days. I'm sure I would have been in trouble all the time.

@Avidkeo Sorry you can't get into the dentist any sooner, but glad it isn't really painful. I have to admit, you have a lot more will power than I would. But, you're right, you will never regret food you didn't have.

@quilteryoyo I would probably be a horrible civilian. I am so used to working in small groups (15-30 people) and we are family. All my "kids" are like siblings, they fight, argue, bend over backwards to help each other, and it changes daily. I don't think twice when I hear 2 of the guys offer to wrestle to settle a difference LOL. I know I need to get my vocabulary under control eventually, I have heard rumors that generally you cant tell someone to stop being an idiot or to stop f**king around LOL. At this point in my career I am older than anyone and they all treat me like the old lady who can get away with anything
