I like to joke about our weather too, but I generally love it here. I appreciate the four seasons. The winter one can get a little long and the summer one a little short, but I appreciate the variety.

I’ve done a lot of stationary bike this last week because the cold .... but the cold is relative. It is -1c/30f here. Then I see you guys saying -50f. I can’t begin to get the little grey cells to begin to comprehend that .... AND then there’s @Dean’s selfie (I’d be scared to open the door!). It’s literally another world. Note to self ... don’t complain about the cold!! Stay safe ... and warm.
@vhuber - I can’t believe that you still have somewhere that needs painting, you’ve done so much in recent months.

    ETA
Thank you very much for your kind words relating to my award. You are all lovely and kind people .... I just follow the tone set here.

Ending the month with 135 miles. I had to come to New York last night - why did it have to be the coldest day of the year? It was 3F (-11F with wind chill) this morning. That may not sound so bad to you guys in Montana and Minnesota, but that was very cold for this Florida girl! Especially since I had to walk where I was going. Stay safe. Seriously, this means you Dean!

My landing page and newsfeed haven't worked for days. I usually log in on my MS Surface tablet with Chrome. Am I the only one? Any suggestions what to do?

    Adding 1 mile.

Glad you guys are staying warm, for the most part. It's 20s here in NC and when people complain, I remind them it's better than the -20 or worse elsewhere. The memes are great.

@clepant I read that story this afternoon and loved it. That would be me - the picking up the dog part - not the marathon part  this is three years old, but for some reason was on Facebook a few times this week. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/12121265/Dog-accidentally-runs-half-marathon-and-finishes-in-seventh-place.html I love that the dog got a medal.

@kar: I absolutely would have picked that puppy up. It would have bet the heck out of my arms but I would have saved it too. Love that bloodhound running that race....he looked dog tired for sure.
@Dave:Love your walking meme for the day.👍🏼
@Dean: Today made me appreciate the work you do each day. I could not do your job. I would want to kill have the people that came in or cry my eyes out for the animals that are struggling to survive. I cried all day about a beautiful German Shepherd that had to be put down. It should never had happened to the poor pup.

It is suppose to be back in the 50’s here on Monday. Y friend in Michigan wads told they have to keep their homes at 65 or they may run out of gas to heat their homes. Yikes...all because of the fire they had. I do not feel so cold now.
Jan, 31: Adding 17.05 miles today of walking 2 and cycling indoors for 15.05 miles

I read both articles about the dogs in the marathons. So cool but you wouldn't see me helping them. You wouldn't see me helping them because I will NEVER run a marathon LOL! Yes I would help & take in an abandoned dog. That's how I've gotten ALL my dogs but one!
Speaking of dogs. My old sweet soul has seen my chiropractor twice & is getting around better. My husband took him to the vet on Tuesday cuz we thought maybe he had a stroke. He couldn't hold his rear end up & his one leg would curl under to where we would have to lift his hip up to get him to walk outside to do his business. Vet said no to the stroke but possibly a pinched nerve so I took him to my chiropractor. He is definitely showing improvement!
If you want to see a quick change in weather then you need to my neck of the woods in Montana. It was in some places 40 BELOW with wind chill yesterday to 44 ABOVE today!!! Just CRAZY!
Got in 6 miles of moving my feet! & that's it for January!

    Weight
    1/07=137.9
    1/17=137.3
    1/24=137.2

@Lisah8969: You have to laugh at it when you live in this type of weather your entire life. I like where I live. I experience all for seasons although lately some have been longer, shorter or goofier than others. I like seeing all of them. I have a former colleague in SC and she is always rubbing in the warm weather where she now lives. She does not do it in a nice way and she is always bad mouthing the state I live in and the one she lived in all of her life until the last 10 years. I posted Dave’s weather Meme of why I live where the air hurts my face, and added to avoid hurricanes, tornadoes and roaches.

@anaconda369: Good for you supporting your friend. I like Dean do not put much faith in R/O’s. I know of two young girls who have lost their life and had RO’s. One was lured back to get her things thinking he was not going to be around and he killed her, and the the guy broke into her apartment and killed her. There should have to be a ankle bracelet and the victim should have a device that alearts them when the abuser is within a certain range.

@Dean: Hope you feel better soon and am glad you are not out on the bike in this.

For my long distance or short distance running folks on here. Thought you might enjoy this story shared on my runners club FB page today. Pretty amazing.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6643543/Marathon-competitor-runs-19-miles-carrying-PUPPY-finding-road-race.html

@sufferlandrian and @clepant I don't have any faith in R/O's either. But it makes my friend feel a bit safer so she can care for the children involved ages 5 and 2. And it did get him out of the house. As hard as he was trying to play the nice guy, he kept arguing with the judge as she was making her ruling, which basically supports the order. You all are right that it takes honest person to respect the piece of paper, so I am also here to do what I can to make her feel safe. In a 20 year career as an armed professional I did personal protection, bank fraud, robbery suppression and the like. I retired from this work over 10 years ago but I still have my instincts and skills.
