Dumbo was a good remake. I am planning on taking some cuttings from one of my favourite fuschia varieties. Wish me luck.

Greeting from Herentals Belgium. Pretty little town. Took a nice walk yesterday after the long flight. Stayed away from the bread so far and have one of the team (who also does not want carbs) ordering is salads for lunch today...packed my sneakers to take a walk later. Couldn’t drag myself out of bed this morning to work out since I’ve gotten such little sleep. A walk will help.

Hope everyone had a great week!

My weight is all over the place. I’m staying off the scale for a while. I think I’m stressing over several things. I will get it together once I’m officially and have extra time to deal with food, exercise and meds. In the meantime I’m getting ready for our annual girls trip to Destin on April 26. I get to practice my swimming or at this point floating. :)

Shelley - the purple Iris is beautiful. The knockout roses are just starting to bloom. No lillies yet. I have some Berber daisies to plant. Really love them.

Paula - sorry no hugs for your Mom.

Karen - love the pictures you shared.

Chris - hope you’re feeling better.

Kathy, I hope your issues (and weight) stabilize soon. Life can be such a challenge sometimes.

Karen, Just WOW! So neat to see the world.

Shell, Fingers/toes crossed. I tried/loved fuschias but the spider mites kept getting them.

    Chris, Hope your doing okay.

I weighed 139 when I got back from Utah and again today. I'm at the bottom of my range. I have permission from myself now to have excess skin removal, wondering if there's enough in the bank....

Karen thanks for the photos! I love those old buildings. ;)

Karen my weight is the same way. Crossing fingers for us both.

Paula spider mites are awful. But they hate water. So I always spray them off my plants with water. They suck the life out of my plants! Grrrrr :s

Well, it hasn't been the best weeks going...got really sick Sat night, Sun & Mon. DH took me into the emergency room Tues morning. I had a bowel obstruction that was horrible. Won't go into detail, but, trust me, it was horrible. I am home, and my diet has changed up a bit. Must work with it to figure things out. Don't know what my weight is but will step on the scale tomorrow. Stomach still extended, so I don't know what to expect.

I don't garden like you ladies do, but I do deal w/spider mites and use Miracle Grow Nature's Care Insecticidal Soap. Works great!

Paula goo luck w/having your excess skin removed. That's got to be exciting.

Karen your pictures are beautiful! Thanks.

Must go now and get control of our kitchen.

    Love you guys.

Chris - oh my goodness! Hope you are doing better. That really sounds painful. Make sure you take care of yourself and get some rest!

Just getting back into the groove of being home. I always I have jet lag on the way back when I get home from Europe. So it's 3:30 in the morning my usual time to get up with jet lag. At least I have the television all to myself and lots of cats around me :-)

Had a good trip. Glad to be home. I do leave next week for 4 days in Canada. A busy month for me.

So has anyone ever eaten a vegetable called kohlrabi? One of the girls on my team who also doesn't eat sandwiches packed lunches for us for two days which was so nice of her. She made homemade hummus and brought some vegetables and one of these vegetables was called Kohlrabi. I never heard of it before but it was really nice and crunchy and super Pleasant. I only come to find out that my local grocery store carries this huge German turnip. Really great to just slice up into sticks and dip and something. Yesterday I bought some chopped them up put some guacamole and just rolled it up in some roast beef. Is that good! So if you're looking for a new vegetable I would recommend this. Bizarre that I had to go to Belgium to find a vegetable in my own grocery store :-)

I'm such a cheap date it's the little things that excite me.

Waiting for a decent hour before I go to the gym. Hope everybody has a great day!

Thank you, Karen. I'm getting better each day.

144.2 this morning at 5:00. Got a haircut w/DDD this morning. Later we went over and colored eggs w/Ronan, DDD, SIL and Bean. Ronan had a blast. He is very into Paw Patrol so we got him one of the pups...Puma...he drives a water/land rescue ship. It was a good day.

    Happy Easter, my friends.

142.6 this morning at 5:00. See what a haircut can do! I like it! Might also have something to do with what I can and cannot eat these days.

Hope you all are having a beautiful morning!

I decided to weigh myself Friday morning before I go on vacation. Need some accountability. It’s not going to be good but it is what it is as my nieces say. Headed to Destin on our annual girls trip. Twenty ladies in a house that sleeps 28. We're not using the bunk rooms. Great beach view and pool/patio area. Plan to get in some practice in the pool. I still want to surprise Ron on my birthday trip in late May.

Only 12 actual working days and 5 in the office. Retirement is in sight. I’ve already found the gym I’m joining June 1. They have a pool...looking forward to water aerobics, a variety of classes. An indoor track and strength/toning machines...yeah! They also over personal training. It’s at a Wellness Center at one of our local hospitals. I’ve been there before but because of the distance I didn’t have time to consistently go. Now I have the time. I hope to lose 25 lbs by our November vacation and tone my flabby body. My goal is 148 that will be a 100 pound total loss from my highest weight.

    Happy Easter!

Chris that sounds awful. Any food suggestions to avoid that happening to us? Thanks for the spider bite suggestion. Sounds like it would also work with aphids. :) How get well so you can play with Ronan. Easter sounds like it was fun. <3

Karen funny you should mention kohlrabi. We grow it in our garden. Along with turnips and rutabagas. I know I spelled that wrong. Next time come to Wyoming for a new food idea! Lol. :p

Paula that sounds exciting. I hope it is not to expensive. I have always wanted to tighten up the skin on my neck. Hoping you do it. B)

We went to Loveland Colorado Friday. On the road by 0430. Long day but fun. We picked up another concrete gargoyle for our wall. I also found an adorable little brownie statue. Yep he came home with us also. Along with vegetable and flower seeds. And a huge basket of beautiful fuchsia.

I made a raspberry poke cake for Easter. We took it over to my daughter's house for dessert. It was fun.

142.2 this morning at 5:00. They said that whatever caused the problem was probably caused by a previous surgery. When I got hit by the car (I was 16, so March1967), they opened me up and took out a few things and repaired a few things and sewed me back up...said I wouldn't live past 35 because of all the damage...HA! fooled them, didn't I? So maybe while they were in there they messed w/my small bowel. I also had my appendix removed when I was 30 or 31. The doc who did it had a doc in training with him...the incision was pretty long. He said it was because I had an ample belly...but I think they opened me up and were looking around so the new doc could see stuff...then sowed me back up. hmmmm...maybe that was it.

My diet right now is just watching the fiber...not too much...and soft food. I will gradually get back to my regular diet.

Shelley, can we get your recipe for the raspberry poke cake? Sounds delicious! And, yes, the spray kills the following...
    n7ke9hnnba1c.jpg

I have no idea what kohlrabi is...picture please...and when DH is playing w/Ronan they always talk about rutabagas! Your yard is going to be great!!

I got to workout w/my trainer today! She was really easy on me. She is really good to me. So glad I found her.

Sorry if this is TMI and too long. Going now...

144 today. Expected it since I ate in the middle of the night yesterday. Bouncing in the 140-145 range now. Want to get it to the 135-139 range...

A friend loves kohlrabi and got me hooked on it. Can't find it anywhere in stores though. Yummy! Keep forgetting what it is and get the names mixed up. Bought a rutabaga by mistake which is still sitting in the crisper.

    Thanks, Shelley!

141.4 this morning at 5:00. Wow! Not a recommended way to lose the weight but...WOW! Haven't seen that number in a long while. I would love to be in the 132.2 to 137.2 range. 132.2 is my original 60 pound loss 2007. Started back in August 2005 at 192.2.

Getting the boys in a bit. Should be plenty hot today. We'll go for a short walk this morning...maybe. Depends on my legs.

    Love you guys!

Muahaha, Paula we eat rutabagas also. I like them in stews and soups. Either rutabaga or turnips is also good to make into fries. I just can't remember which...

LOL Chris, right now I would almost take any kind of loss. Almost I say! It is warm here right now also. To hot to walk far.

    Back to work.

Shelley - You grow Kolhrabi? I'll have to look into that. What a neat veg...I've been eating it for days...LOL.

Chris - Hope you are feeling better. I always say if you are sick, might as well lose a few pounds!

Just got done working out. Really sluggish with the jet lag. The carbs I ate on Easter didn't help! I am seeing some muscle definition back in my arms which is exciting. It is so beautiful here in PA today...like 80 degrees....want to go for a walk tonight to get more steps in. Sometimes I get so few sitting behind this desk all day.

179.4 this morning. Finally back under 180. Off work the rest of the month. Eleven more working days remaining after I return from Destin. Trying to lose a few more pounds before my birthday. Definitely need to turn up the exercise. Let’s see what I can do at the beach.

Carlos Santana concert tonight with my BFF. 4th row pit tickets... she loves Santana. His has 50 years of great music. It’s amazing that we are seeing someone that performed at Woodstock.

    Thanks, guys!

141.4 again this morning at 5:00. Feeling better and being careful of what I eat and how much. I am a 'clean the plate' kind of gal. My parents always wanted to send any food left on my plate to China or some damn place.

Kathy, I love Santana! Have fun!

Karen, I am so happy to be back w/my trainer even tho I complain a lot, I need the exercise for brain and body.

Shelley, I don't know anything about rutabagas. Going to look it up. I'm getting two small milkweed plants to put out with my shamrocks. I want to see butterflies and bees and hummers come to visit. We'll see how it all works out.

Got to go get the boys.

186.6 this morning....liking the direction! I really want to get down to at least 160. I have a lot of awesome summer dresses that I want to try to wear so of course I want it yesterday :-) easier said than done I know gals. Feeling pretty good about the amount of exercise I'm getting. Just got to keep that moving.

Glad it's Friday! taking a half day today because I need to take my daughter to a couple of doctor appointments. And then tomorrow a haircut and then the new Avengers movie. And on Sunday about 1 I need to leave for my flight to Canada for next week. It's always so much easier to eat in Canada. One of the first things I normally do is go to the grocery store and buy a case of water and some nuts l. Always makes life a lot easier to have some good things around. I have all of my favorite restaurants where I know I can get healthy things to eat as well. If I don't have to go out to dinner with people I always get my dinner at the grocery store :-) So hoping for a good week of staying on track.

    Happy Friday!

Karen, Canada sounds like fun. Do you have a place your Company owns, or do you get a hotel room each time you fly there?

141.6 this morning at 5:00. Meeting w/our trainer at 100 today. Hope that's not too late for my body. :D We'll see...

I ordered two little milkweed plants and they came yesterday. DH put them in pots. When they bloom they are supposed to attract butterflies, esp. Monarchs...and humming birds. So excited! Planted two new shamrocks...directions said direct sun...NOT SO!!!! Poor guys were cooking. DH made a shade lid for them. He is so smart!!

We'll pick up R&B this morning and maybe go for a walk before it gets too hot.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Chris - I stay in the same Hotel every time I go. The staff knows me. I've been going for so long :-) they had a pretty crappy gym and I kept giving feedback and wrote a couple of letters, and I'm not sure if I helped at all but lo and behold they have now redone the gym. So it's got a couple of nice pieces of equipment and some good weights. I always try my best exercise when traveling. Doesn't always work cuz the days are long and exhausting but at least it's there if I need it.

Heading off to the gym in a little bit and then a haircut. And then I'm taking my daughter to see The Avengers movie. She's most excited :-) hope everybody has an awesome Saturday!

140.8 at 5:00 a.m. and 140.4 at 7:00 when I really got outta bed! Yeah, pretty happy with that...if I can keep it.

Karen, that's so cool that they changed up the gym. I'm sure it helps you get down there and workout. I know you just want to stay away form the nasty looking stuff. I used to go through the mats until I find one that I want to wipe off before I use it. Some of them are blaa. How is the food in Canada? Much different than ours? Have fun today. DDD and SIL are going to see The Avengers this afternoon. We'll get Ronan for a bit.

Going to read for a while.

Kathy how was the concert? Retirement is upon you now. :)

Chris I am thrilled that you would plant milkweed for the migratory butterflies. Beautiful! And before I forget the cake again. I start with a yellow or white cake. Baked and cooled. Next I get a small box of jello. I prepare it with 1 cup of boiling water. Then add 1/2 cup cold water to jello. Using anything that will poke small holes in the cake, poke some randomly in the cake. Cake should be left in pan. Do not make the holes to deep. You do not want the jello to go all the way to the pan. Pour the jello slowly over the cake and chill for several hours. Top with whipping creme. I sometimes make it into a parfait using some prepared jello. So many options.

    Gotta run, finish later

Shelley, milkweed came Wed. They look very healthy. DH re-potted them in larger pots and they are outside in the sunshine and shade. The company sent up a tiny 'Thank you' plant that we re-potted and have outside. We'll see how they do. We discovered that shamrocks do not like direct sun...nopey, nope. We need little shamrock umbrellas that won't blow away in our fierce winds. bwahahah! DH figured out a shade for them.

141.4 this morning at 5:00. Having lunch with a friend this afternoon. I'll just be very careful. I usually have soup. Think I'll stick with that.

Going to read now. Have a great Sunday, my friends.

140.4 again at 5:00 this morning.Kind of excited to be seeing the 130's soon...maybe... :#

Getting the boys in a bit. Ronan is such a smart kid. And so much fun.

DDD's best friend (BFF) had a baby boy yesterday. DDD's BFF practically lived with us for about five years. Her house was three houses from us on our court. She's a doll. Excited to see the new baby when DDD's BFF wants company.

    See ya later.
