Hi
just a quick pop in... I had a keto fuled day with no spoilers! I actually was able to have ONE piece of 85%chocolate... one piece!! It’s so strong that that’s all I really wanted! Also had one small square of keto fudge the son & I made @ .5 carbs!! That was unexpectedly delicious! Has anyone tried the new drinks being sold now... 0 carb flavored waters?! I’m not a pop drinker, but the son wants & likes stuff to drink, so we’ve been trying them all... Zevia, Bubly & la croix???? quite a nice treat instead of wine!!! Yes that’s me saying that!!
Enjoy Sunday people & Happy June!1 -
WOW! May was a long month, but not in a bad way. It is time for a new scale. Mine has been weird lately and this morning it gave me two different weights.
@mamainthekitchen Sounds like you have had a lot of fun lately! I love Whole Foods! If ours was on my way to work, I would stop in for lunch every day.
@Meghan509 Hope you are having a lovely weekend!
My house is clean! I cannot express how much better I feel now. It was driving me crazy! I think it was mostly the dust and little piles of stuff here and there. Now I can get back to deep cleaning everything. When the house is dirty, it is almost like a physical weight hanging on me. I am far from a clean freak, but having it clean is just one less big thing weighing on my mind.
Have a GREAT week, y'all! I will be fasting Monday and Thursday. Happy fasting!1 -
Good morning everybody!
Hope your weekends were nice! Mine was great! We went in to NYC on Saturday for the day. A couple that we know lives there with their two kids. Beautiful apartment on the Upper East Side. We took the train in and out, which was better than dealing with traffic and parking. Just a little pricey, but it was fun!
Congrats on your lovely day @mamainthekitchen
YES, my favorite Bubly is the strawberry one! I love the way it tastes! I find their flavors are not fake tasting and very natural. Recently saw they are making a blackberry too and am planning to try that one soon!
@KateNkognito sounds like you have had a nice productive weekend! I know what you mean about clean and tidy and it weighing on you. Our place is small and a little cramped with stuff, but it is organized chaos and that helps.I keep a clean desk at work too. I hate dealing with mess and clutter when trying to get something done!
Today would typically be a light day for me, but we have plans with family today so it is not happening. Tomorrow is not much better as I have a work dinner in the evening. I did make a few new meals yesterday for us to stick in the freezer and fridge. Our old stuff had either gotten finished or we tossed. Time to start fresh! Either way, we will be eating lower calories where possible and are planning to get a nice walk in tonight after work. The weather here is good!
Hope you have a nice day. See you soon!2 -
Had a pretty good day. Took the kids to a movie, classes officially started today. One of them opened early so I am a week ahead. Fast was pretty good, too.
Off to do some reading and snuggle my dog. He is really cuddly today.1 -
Hi all!
Hope everybody is well. Things are good here.
Good news: I finally got back to the gym last night and it feels really nice! As you know, for the last six months+ I have been dealing with chronic right hip / buttock pain and a bunch of excuses to not go to the gym. Don't mind me, just being honest! Guess you could say the pain started up and then gym burn-out happened as well.
The goal going forward is to go to the gym a few days a week after work for a simple 45 minutes or so of walking on the treadmill, riding a bike, or some other form of cardio. One day a week will plan to be outdoors. It is summer and if it is a nice night we will walk outside. The goal is not to get gym burn-out and to enjoy the warmer weather while it is here.
Afterwards for nights at the gym - ab crunches, stretches, and light weights to strengthen my buttocks and legs - where the start of my pain is. That is my starting point and will tweak and add more as I get back in to it and hopefully start to feel a little better. I will continue with my physical therapy once every two weeks. I look at that visit as a little tune up.
Yesterday's eating went pretty well. Wasn't able to do a proper light day because of work and family commitments. Same issue today. But I ate well and am planning same for today. Have a dinner after work tonight for a colleague who is retiring. Planning to choose wisely for menu choices. Planning to do same rest of the week. Next week should be back to normal light day schedule.
Hope you have a great day and see you all soon.2 -
Morning! Well Kate you keep a very clean house... I’ve done zero cleaning since you mentioned you actually started that cycle of cleaning!
but my garden is pretty!
Meghan so glad you got back to the gym last night... easing back in is smart! I too have gotten back to my weight training... took an entire year off because I thought it wasn’t doing anything!!!! Can you imagine! It took me to see the flab covering my muscle to understand of course it was doing something!! And a couple of pictures of me in a no sleeves shirt helped too!! Bahaha anyhow, we’re both back at it and I feel good too. We have one of those machines in our garage so it is ridiculously easy and convenient for me. I’m working out MWF am... Kate, you should join us... just buy yourself 2ten lb weights and do your arms and a couple of planks or push ups and that’s it...20 mins, it’s so good for your bones! Also, Meghan I think sticking with your PT appoints is really good I’m glad to hear you’re sticking with it...and wonder if they think yoga would be helpful for you?
Well I have to mention (ok complain) I’ve made a few recipies lately from this website (keto/lowcarb type), one was a chicken casserole I made last night.... after calculating & importing all exact ingredients into mfp (double checking the correct items!) then saw the result calories & carbs are way higher than online states from the website!!! I’ve recalculated, to see if I’m wrong but nope it’s the damn website.. so I’m going to send this gal an email to ask what’s up... my son being a diabetic, I must have recipies that I know are low in carbs so I’m quite annoyed!!! This delicious fudge I made is suppose to be .5 gr carbs!! But it’s 9 grams!!!!!! So frustrating... anyhoo that’s my day plus off I go to my parents to water their garden while they’re away for couple days.
Enjoy your day!1 -
LOL @mamainthekitchen !! I do NOT keep a clean house!! It was a DISASTER! Cleaning is usually the last thing on the list and so when I DO clean, it is a big deal!
That is super frustrating about that website.
@Meghan509 Glad you are getting back to the gym. Sounds like you are on the right track! Keep going!
I am going to take some inspiration from you guys and get started with some exercising. The weather is really nice right now, so I can take the dog for a walk in the evenings. I might have to get an umbrella stroller for him. He is old and a little blind, so I am not sure he would be up for a big walk. I also have a workout that I have done off and on with great results. It is from a very old book, so I modify it a bit. I do it every day but change to HIT at the end instead of what they suggest 2-3 times a week. Here it is if you are interested http://www.fit450.com/HTML/XBX_Intro.html
Off to do some more homework and go to the store. We are out of food. Darn teenagers! Have a great week!1 -
Woohoo Kate! Good on ya for even thinking about the exercise! Took me about 4 months of thinking I should get back into it
Lol on your website... I’m so old they don’t include my age.. I’m the 51+ category!!! Bahaha... well, I’ll be the grand age of 60 in October! So I figure I better get a move on and look after myself because like I said in another post a few weeks back, No one is gonna work out for me!!
Dull day today outside and I’ve got chores and may try baking with almond flour.... ya, wish me luck on that!!
Have a happy Wednesday!1 -
Today is a cloudy, boring day. I should be doing homework. But I don't want to. Should exercise. But I don't want to. Should put on something besides pajamas. But I don't want to.
At least I am fasting. There. That's what I will accomplish today. LOL
@mamainthekitchen LOL You are NOT old! I totally ignore their recommendations and progress according to how I feel when I do a particular level. Hope you had fun baking!
Off to do nothing and like it. Have a great day, y'all! Happy fasting!0 -
"Well, that didn't go as planned!" should be my life quote. Fasted part of the day. Then I didn't.
I will try again tomorrow. Have a great weekend, all!

Hi all... well it’s frriiday!!
Lol kate... been there sooo many times!!
fyi I vacuumed yesterday!!that was an exhaustive event!!
Right now I’m quite hungry but my Zero app tells me to wait until 2:30 to start eating... one more hour! I’ve already done a really good workout on the weights, so I’ll take the dog out... that’ll distract me! I’m loving the fasted workouts!! And I see progress already! Did I mention I broke down and got a scale???? Ugh! Yup, after over 30 years without one!! Had to buy it for the son who wants weight gain! Anyhow of course, I was heavier than I thought at 166!! Actually, 166.6 so the devil was in there somewhere!! And I’m 5’6, so there’s another 6! This was two weeks ago and tomorrow I will weigh myself again to see how this “97%” keto and intermittent fasting with a little 5:2 in there for good measure has treated me!!
I’ll check in tomorrow!
Hope everyone’s weekend plans are good ones! Here... power washing the sundeck so we can actually sit on it!1 -
Woohooweee! 166.6 @May 25 & 160.1 @June 8 today!! Keto & intermittent fasting works. I do find that the extra fats (nuts, seeds, cheeses even keto fudge) keep me fuller and the desire for sweets at night and snacking is greatly reduced! I could easily polish off a full large (and I mean large) bag of peanut m&ms!! Now I don’t even think about them and am not going down the candy isle drooling!! I do realize I’ve been down this almost “perfect” road before.... then one day it’s bam, back to old habits... but I do see that this is sustainable, and maybe I can stick to this for a bit, then switch back to regular 5:2 days again. Maybe plan a full month of keto once in a while.... like spring time is keto time, kicking me into the mindset of higher fat, lower carb because once I do nothing, is when all hell brakes loose and I’m back in my fat pants!!
Hope everyone else is doing well!!1 -
Hi gang!
Sorry for being MIA for a few days. Last week got a little busy at work and next thing you know its the weekend and I forgot to check in.
Last week we had a farewell dinner on Tuesday night for one of my bosses who retired. On Friday we had a nice lunch for him. Tough when one of the good ones retire.
Had a lovely low key weekend, spent mostly at the beach. Monday again sigh...
Sounds like you ladies are doing well! Good for you for getting on the exercise wagon, @KateNkognito! I think it really helps move the weight a little faster and good for us in general!
Congrats on the weight loss @mamainthekitchen! Good job!
I am planning to hit the gym tonight, but it won't be a lighter day because guess who forgot to make the salad for lunch!? LOL Tomorrow and Thursday planned now for Light Days. Oh well. Have to be adaptable!
Have a great day and see you soon!1 -
Good Monday Morning! I think this is going to be a good week! I feel energetic and the sun is shining and the weather is supposed to be nice and cool. I also found out that they have water aerobics on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool. I might go and check it out. Especially on Thursdays when I am usually fasting. That should torch some fat. I did not lose any weight this week.
Not totally sure why. I guess I need to actually exercise instead of just thinking about it and tighten up on the BLTs (bites, licks, and tastes).
@mamainthekitchen CONGRATULATIONS!! Glad what you are doing is working for you! That is awesome! I know what you mean about losing motivation. Mine comes and goes. And when it goes... But I know you will keep it up because you are awesome!
@Meghan509 It is always hard when a good boss retires. I hope the next one is good, too! I forget my lunch on the counter every so often. It is super annoying! Have fun at the gym!
Off to do all the things and maybe take the dog for a walk. Really need to look at getting a stroller for him. Have a great day! Happy fasting!1 -
Happy Tuesday, gang!
I like your vibe, @KateNkognito you sound good and positive!
My Mom LOVED water aerobics and would probably continue to go now if she belonged to a gym or facility with a pool. That is good for the joints too. My gym doesn't have a pool, so we stick with the machines for now.
Hope you have a loss this week! Make sure you are drinking your water.
We went to the gym last night and it felt great. I walked at a decent pace for 45 minutes, on a slight incline, and burned around 300 calories. That is my goal for the most part. I didn't stick around for stretching and abs since we needed to hit the grocery store and didn't have a lot of time. Tonight we are planning to stick around afterwards.
Since I forgot to make our lunch salad on Sunday night LOL, we have it all good to go for today! Planning to do around 800 calories or the revised 5:2 Guidelines, for any newbies reading this. Everybody needs to do what works best for them. The best eating plan is the one that you can stick to.
Have a good one and speak to you soon. Have a great day!1 -
Ahhhh! I just clicked done and not reply!!’ Oh I hate that! Ok I’ll make this point form
Meghan glad your workout went well hope that continues to feel good for you!!
Kate yes water aerobics sound awesome!! You do need to take time for yourself!! Also, my fav boss looked and acted like Santa!! Not kidding.. I’d find little presents on my desk!!
Had a day where I didn’t eat too well... and I feel it! Went a little wayward today. Not calorie wise but way too many carbs! Long day out today so just got overly hangry..,.. tomorrow morning may be too busy for my weight workout and it’ll be too hot in the afternoon... do I get up at 6am?!! Ohhhhh ya not likely... checking back tomorrow, hoping for a happy Wednesday everyone!!

Meghan, glad you had a good go at the gym. At least you have your salad for later!
Mama, you can do it! One day is one day. I didn't do so well yesterday, either. But today is today. I have to laugh about your boss. My step dad looks like Santa, too. My mom carries little candy canes in her purse for the littles that come up to him.
Must actually do all the homework I have been putting off this week. It is SO boring! I am taking classes on teaching art and science. The art one could be summed up in a weekend seminar and I have a science degree already. If I get it done now I won't have to worry about it for a few days, right? Oh, look! Shiny distraction!
Have a great day!0 -
Hi all!
Things are good here. Went to the gym last night again and had a great treadmill walk. Same planned for tonight! Tomorrow we are not going as I have a physical therapy appointment after work. If it is nice, maybe we can take a walk outside after dinner.
Been doing well food wise, which is good. The salad yesterday was tasty. Today is typical turkey sandwich lunch, etc.
We bought a new scale, because ours crapped out. Stupid batteries went bad and leaked that nasty "stuff" inside the scale. Tried to clean it out and put fresh batteries in but no go. Stinks since it was not that old.Oh well, new one is coming tomorrow. Got to love Amazon!
Going to head to lunch now. See you soon!0 -
Good morning all.
Hope everybody is having a good week.
Had a good workout last night. Been on my game with my calories and food.
Today a "lighter day" with no gym after work since I have PT. Since I am not getting that extra calorie burn I am really trying to stay on the lower side with no extras!
Hope you have a good one. Speak to you all soon!0 -
Morning! Or good afternoon to you by now Meg!
Thanks Kate... a day is just a day!! I also heard that on my podcast so it reinforced the message early in the day yesterday, and I ended up with a pretty successful light day under 700 cals.
Too busy yesterday to do any exercise so I must do some now before it heats up!!
Meghan we just bought a scale! Delivered from amazon! It’s called renpho.... calculates several other things besides your weight most of which I had to look up what they meant!!! I haven’t used a scale in over 30 years! It’s pretty cool and I have it hooked up to my phone so it’ll tell me my weight in a fancy graph! I’ll be weighing again on Saturday.
Kate lol on your step dad & mom.. how cute is that!!! Also just have to mention you are an awesome role model to your sons! Already having a science degree and now almost finished your teaching degree... quite inspiring!!!!
Well, to anyone else reading our June post here... please pop in to say hello. 5:2 is why I came to this forum in the start, but it’s not why I stay!!3 -
I just got a new scale, too! The old one just suddenly gave up. Must be some sort of conspiracy by the scale manufacturers! LOL
Gee, thanks, Mama! I am not that inspiring in real life. Just sayin'.
Meghan, have a great day!
Going to go for a walk today. It is cloudy and cool... again. Getting tired of this weather.
Have a great weekend! To all the lurkers, HI! Say something! We don't bite!1 -
Hi all!
Still AM here, so Good morning!
Nice, @mamainthekitchen we went with a more simple scale since this is now the THIRD scale in approximately ten years that we have purchased. Maybe that doesn't sound like a lot of scales to someone who weighs in often, but in our case they had spent most of their lives sitting and not getting used. It annoys me to put it mildly!
@KateNkognito totally missed your comment about your degrees. Thank you That is awesome! Science is scary LOL but I LOVE ART and totally loved all of the art classes I took over the years from elementary school through H.S.
Woo hoo, our new scale arrived yesterday! My guy used it and said it was nice. I didn't use it yet (feeling bloated for female reasons) but I will weigh in next week some time. We got this!
Not much else to report from this end. Looking forward to a lovely Saturday at the beach. Happy Fathers Day weekend.
Speak to you soon.1 -
Yup, Friday again so soon!! I’ve had a very busy week..... well not me really, the daughter. She’s a bridesmaid in an Indian wedding and it’s been one event after the other everyday this week! I’m the gopher, chauffeur, part-time seamstress and generally on call when needed! So I’m tired for my small part in it!! Lol
The other day my fast went to 20 hrs without any trouble! Normally I do 18hrs but today, I may cut it off at 16 since I’ve been up since 3:30am! (Today’s the actual wedding) anyhow, Im liking this shorter eating window thing and hope to see results in my new fancy scale tomorrow am! Yesterday was a feast day and today a 5:2 day so I’ll be watching I don’t have full calories today for sure. Not sure why my head is really into this right now... a year ago I thought this was all too hard!!! It’s all mindset but not sure how the mind changes? @flossyruby1 (miss you) would say... “I need to hit bottom then have a goal”.... so maybe that’s true!! I saw pictures of me from last year!!! Scared me for sure and here I am working at this!! Gotta love pictures!’
Have a great Friday you two!! And an awesome weekend!!!! Off to have some jasmine green tea!!1 -
Oooh! Forgot....
@orlcam .... have to say i love our new photo in the header!!!! Just love it!! Thank you for keeping it seasonal too2 -
Well, I got mad because I didn't lose any weight last week, so I ate like an unsupervised five year old and guess what? I gained this week! So, I am back on track. Just logged my breakfast. Two fasts planned. No fast food this week. And I WILL go to the pool at least once.0
-
^^^^^ ok so this was me yesterday!! I’ve been so good, zero wine, almost zero candy consumption, 18hr fasts and boom... new fancy scale tells me I lost a whopping 0.1lbs!! Not 1, 0.1!! So ya, I get the being mad Kate.
Gorgeous day here.... happy Father’s Day to any dads reading!
Time to pick myself up and log everything as best I can from last night0 -
Hi all!
Sounds like you guys were busy over the weekend! Me too.
UGH, I hear you both about the scale and losing. I am really trying to meet my lower calorie plan, especially on Monday and Thursdays but wouldn't you know it that we have another work luncheon today. I feel like I just can't catch a break. So today is a regular day and tomorrow will be a lighter day. Next week I am traveling for work again. This time more local, vs. a flight. But still that means I won't be able to really follow my low calories. Will be at a conference center and they can serve whatever they want. Just have to try and make healthy choices.
Sorry to be negative. Just a little frustrated lately. Not having a good day today.... I had an old friend pass away early this morning. She was dealing with some health issues over the years. A week ago she had a stroke which resulted in cardiac arrest, and no oxygen to the brain. They did an MRI and saw that she had zero brain activity.
Her family removed her from life support yesterday and she passed early this morning. She was 46 years old. Tell your friends and family you love them. You never know what could happen. Life is too short.
Sorry to be so down today. I hope if you are fasting that you have a great day. I am planning to get to the gym tonight after work. This day is definitely going to get better, I know it.
Speak to you soon.1 -
So sorry, Meghan! Hugs! That is awful!
I hope your day gets better.
I have been running all morning. Forgot/decided to skip today's fast day. Too much going on. But I have it set up so I can fast tomorrow and Friday.
I hope everyone gets back on track. Must be the moon phase or something. Yup. We will blame it on the moon.1 -
Ya good idea Kate, let’s blame to moon!
Oh Meghan so sorry to hear... {hugs} how sad for her family too to have to make that decision of taking her off life support. That’ll certainly shake you up receiving that bit of news, I hope you have good memories you can think of about her to help you.
4 hours of gardening this morning before the heat comes... I waited 17 hours before eating, but now I’d like a nap! But gotta take the dog out and wanted to go for my own walk at the beach! Plus grocery store run.... yadda yadda... not enough hours in the day!!
I’m away on the island tomorrow, lunch out! Hard to calculate calories & carbs from restaurants!! Hopefully I stay away from the candy while on the ferry!!!
Let’s get back at it gang!

Good morning all,
Thanks ladies! I appreciate the nice thoughts. My friend is resting peacefully now and she is out of pain.
Hope all is well. Things have been going pretty well diet wise. Been eating well and going to the gym as planned. Going with the flow is all I can do!
Hope you all have a good one and see you soon!1
