WEIGHT NO MORE TEAM CHAT - JULY 2019
Replies
-
July in review:
- Down 4.2 pounds
- Closed on the sale of my prior house
- Settling in more to my new house
- Joined a club a few minutes from the new house with an awesome huge outdoor pool, a work out area and group (yoga) classes. Hoping this will help get my yoga classes in because my “old” studio is 30 minutes drive each way.
- Attended 5 yoga classes
- Bought several summer shirts in size S and M
- Bought a new bra in smaller size
- Eating by trying to remember successful routines, not getting full, and eating “junk” not more than once a day. Has been a struggle at times mentally after months of meticulous logging. But seems to be going well for now.
- Have been eating out more with travel and moving and summer; has been a challenge in the past to estimate calories but getting good at new plan of: (1) relax and not stress (it is supposed to be fun and yummy), (2) just focus on ordering something you love to eat but know is healthier (like not fried or covered in high calorie sauce), (3) then just focus on not over eating
Plans for August:
Start: Attending yoga classes at this new closer facility to try to get back to 3 times a week.
Stop: Eating late night snacks off my 5 yo’s plate just because it is there. Need to keep tight plan for this time of day as it seems the hardest to stay in routine. Last night I weighed my one serving of crackers and Brie cheese. Ate this (yum!) and was not hungry. Told myself her snack was “not for me.”
Keep: Yoga once a week at old studio. Extra activity when it fits in / fun (walking with the dog or alongside the newly bike riding 5 yo, dancing around the house, parking farther from entrances, etc). Eating on my routines (tea with milk for breakfast at 162 calories; leftovers or frozen high protein meal for lunch at ~400-450 calories; emeals quick and healthy recipes for most dinners at 500-600 calories; snacks of fruits, raw veggies, jerky, Greek yogurt, certain bars, cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs, popcorn, etc when hungry which occurs often around 10:30am, 3:30pm and 8:30pm; eating “treats” like desert no more than once a day; chewing mint gum or drinking diet soda when cravings but not hungry; eating out fast food meals per routine when needed; eating till satisfied if at sit down restaurant and ordering foods I love but know are lower calorie).
- Goal to lose 0.5 pounds a week for 2 pounds total in August.
- Keeping up with this group is such inspiration and gives me focus. Let’s have a great August team!5 -
Check in for Wednesday
Food: logged and under
Water: 88 oz
Exercise: 30 minute bike ride
Steps: 7257
I had a really good day yesterday. I am going to have the same "mini" goals today. I have a friend coming over for lunch and a bay day so I need to get my exercise in early. I already have my food pre logged. I am a little over but I am planning to eat until satisfied so I will be able to take some calories off. I am not concerned if I go over by a little. I am really feeling more optimistic than yesterday. I journaled a lot yesterday and figured some things out. Figured them out and now need to act on what I figured out. I was really kind of surprised that I really feel certain that I will never give up on this. I like my life now and never want to go back to the unhealthy life style I had when I started MFP. I feel like I am 3/4 of the way of where I need to be(Mentally not weight). A big thing I realized is that I am very comfortable where I am now, I like how I eat and exercise. I have cut way back on the amount that I have been eating. I do slip up a lot but I usually get back on track. This would all be great if I was a normal weight but I need to lose...a lot....So it is time to reel it in even more. As I mentioned before, I have guests coming for 10 days. I can't wait 10 days to start this so I have most of my plan made for when they are here. I am aiming to maintain because I want to be realistic. I can still enjoy without going overboard. I also plan to get up early to get exercise in and hopefully get on here.
For our weekly challenge-
Start: I will start being consistent with making a daily and weekly plan-for food and life in general. I don't know why I have a problem with this as when I do it everything goes so much more smoothly AND I feel accomplished and that is rewarding at the end of the day.
Stop:Getting frustrated with myself. I need to be consistent with positive self talk.
Keep: Doing my "mini" goals-making a 24 hour plan, prelog food, at least 64 oz water, 30 min exercise, 6K steps, PT exercises, listen to pod casts and journal.

Happy Thursday everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I still think how amazing it is that we are from different locations all over the world and come together to share our ideas and support. This is so awesome. Thank you all😀5
-
@cyndiesstuff Who would know that journaling really does help! Lol! I have figured stuff out, now to implement them...Glad things seem to be going well so far at your job. How exciting! A new way of life there! I am happy for you! Hugs! Thanks for the pod cast suggestion too! xo
@carlsoda I have the same thing you have with sugar but mine is with snacking. I think mine are urges not cravings. You are right, we are all works in progress. Great goals for August!
@phoebe112476 You continue to amaze me! You must amaze yourself too. Love your reflection on July and goals for August! My reflection was negative for July, I think I need to go back and find some positive things to add.
@lennoncpa Happy Thursday! I feel the same way!!2 -
I don't have time for check in today. But to sum it up I stayed mostly on track and hydrated for the previous 2 days. Except for the macarons I had I had 4 instead of the planned 6. And then I did some elliptical, circuit training and yoga. I know you can't outrun your diet, but at least I hope I've minimized the harm this way And the scale was very kind to me this morning. Hope it stays this way tomorrow on my weigh-in day.
I'm pretty nervous now, because it turned out my boy has bronchitis after all. Now I'm waiting for the blood results to be ready, so the doc can choose a treatment. And they had to be ready more than an hour ago. I'm considering to call the lab to ask what's going on...3 -
@moarrein so sorry about your boy. Hope he recovers quickly. Hang in there and breathe.
@lennoncpa I too marvel how we all share the same journey and challenges while being spread out all over the world.
@sleepymom5 Glad you had a good day. every good day is promising.
@pheobe112476 great reflections. You are always such an inspiration!
@carlsoda I find that extra protein can sometimes help eliminate my sugar cravings. Glad you had a great day. Your always a joy. Great job on the bike and C25K. 6 miles is great! I ended up tracking our biking to see how it compares. we did 4 miles in 20 minutes.
More in a few...have to get back to work.
1 -
Ok I am back.
@lennoncpa you have such a big heart to help out these sweet creatures. Thanks for sharing the picture.
@cyndiesstuff yes please put me on the cheer squad. You mean I still have to weigh? Geez I was hoping I could sneak away from that lol. I can assure you I am very motivated to stay at goal or less.
Good luck this month as you regroup and figure out what you need to get to your goal.
I have been peeking at MFP at some of the maintenance sites. It is a very different challenge to hit goal and work on staying there. I hope I don't offend anyone to say this...but it does make me sad to me on this team for a year and I am the only one that has hit goal. I worry about maybe being too accepting when someone "falls off the wagon". Although I am not sure what the alternative looks like. I do think that timing is everything and I know there are team members that are close to their goal. I am hoping to hang out here for another year and would really love others to join me. I admit there are times that I feel miffed that I am "sacrificing" and working so hard to hit my goal and stay there...then I read about others that aren't as focused and find them selves eating too many snacks, skipping workouts and just plain old being "naughty". Am I being judgmental? Probably so...but it is hard to see all the conflicts we face and then we have to add "failure" to that energy when once again the scale shows a gain. I was thinking about this the other day. My weigh ins make me feel like a success and lead to positive actions. but when the scale shows movement upward I tend to feel like a "failure" and my actions want to support that. It is terrible to feel like a failure. I would much rather feel like a success. And the benefits...oh my!!! Cute little clothes, boundless amounts of energy, fantastic food that nourishes my body, excellent health, sound nights of sleeping...Why wouldn't everyone be hitting their goal with so much to look forward to? Hah...if we really knew the answer to that we would make a fortune. It is complex just as we are all complex. But I do know that when we are ready, that's it. We do it. No more excuses. But you know...sometimes we just have to do it, ready or not.

Daily check in Thursday
Food-not so great yesterday but not so bad either.
water-pretty good
exercise-bike ride 4 miles
I made a super yummy smoothie for breakfast yesterday. Strawberries, mangoes, oats, flax seeds, cacao nibs, soy milk and white peaches. So tasty. I had lunch out while visiting a client. Drunken noodles. It was good but I could tell there was a lot more oil than I am used to. I only ate 1/2 and took the other 1/2 to Molly. It had been raining all afternoon. We saw the sun peak out and grabbed our bikes after work and went to one of our old bike trails. We got to use our wonderful new bike rack. Lot's of hills around here but we were so proud of ourselves. Came home and had 4 slices of pizza and lettuce drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Then had 1/2 a cup of vegan cookie dough ice cream. The whole pizza is 600 calories so 1/2 is not as bad as it sounds. I went to bed with a happy belly. This morning Robin came by early and we did a 5 mile run. I am so glad I chose not to train for the 1/2 marathon. The biking has really been changing my thigh and hip muscles. the run was not the easiest. my daughter kept crying about all the hills. She said "couldn't you choose a path with less hills?". Well yes I could but the thing with hills is they challenge me mentally. I used to be so scared of them. But now I am a bit of a billy goat as I glide on up and over. It was nice to get the run in so early. It was foggy out and both of us came back with soaking wet hair. My hips are feeling stiff from the combo of the bike and hill runs. But we have a fun easy weekend planned. Hoping to go inner-tubing on Saturday as part of our anniversary celebration.
We are off tomorrow but will probably use that time to clean house and pay bills. Then have fun for the weekend.
Produce moms just posted their new calendar August challenge if anyone is interested.1 -

I was .2 from my goal of 6.0 pounds, but I am thrilled with the progress. I have been dog sitting and staying away from home for 8 nights. A big increase in my walking, the dog really helps!! Unfortunately, I found a bag of buffalo wing pretzels and finished them. Replaced the bag and ate them too. Then I made a huge mistake on Sunday of only eating about 700 calories. I mistakenly thought I had control of my food again and bought a second bag of pretzels and ate them! I am thrilled that I was able to lose .6 of a pound last week.
This weekend 3 Moms and 4 of our 28 to 30 year old children are spending the weekend in my friend's home. Great fun, but lots of food and wine to navigate through. There will be two dogs so I am hoping I can walk one of them.
My goal for next month will be 4 pounds and work up to 5000 steps a day by the end of the month.

I guess we will all be moving to the August chat soon. I have been having some computer problems as well as motivation problems. I am planning on readopting my healthy habits that I adopted when I first lost my weight.
Eating lots of fruit and reg
Being active for at least 30 mins a day
Journalling my food intake for good or ill
drinking 5 cups of water a day.
It is time to get back to basics. See you in the August chat.3 -

Scale is still moving down. I am off for vacation the next 2 weeks though. I leave for Canada in the morning. I am bringing my workout clothes as I plan on doing some walking. Tomorrow I will not have any steps as I will be in a car all day. My son went to the Dr today and they sent him off to have and EKG. And want him to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks. This kid can't win. So I'm sitting in the waiting room and then need to get home so I can finish packing and get my house clean. I will try to check in tomorrow.2

i dont have a lot of time this morning. i slept so good. so i layed in. when i can sleep good, i try to!! yesterday was a good day. i made it thru 4 days without compulsive overeating. i will make that 5 today. the weekend is upon us team. do you have your weekend plan made? part of the reason weekends are so much more difficult is because we don't have a plan. during the week we are more structured. lets make this weekend structured.
Oh yeah, remember sunday will start our new august challenge. when the new thread is up we will post it. make sure to go there and introduce yourselves. you know.... who you are, where your from, a little about yourself, you goals, and what your plan is to get there.
And lets welcome, @amytriesww we are so glad you are here. come on in, read thru the thread. there is some really valuable information in here. but i would really like you to start with some reflection. see my post from yesterday!
@carlsoda great job getting in that water!! you are doing awesome! look at you... go girl!! and no, i can see why your mind would give you anxiety about the 90 minute distraction method. it is trying to get you to stop it!! it doesn't like change and it is feeling uncomfortable. this is precisely why you need to continue. lol and your right, we are beautifully flawed works in progress!!
@phoebe112476 oh yea girl! love love love your reflection! good job at really focusing on what you have done and continue to do!! you, have truly been an inspiration to watch.
@sleepymom5 good job on your successful day!! and i have been thinking a lot about you. i will never give up on you. you will make this work this time. this time you are not only losing the weight but your changing the reason you gained it in the first place. it is a hard road but put on your seat belt girl we are going to do it this time for the last time!!
@lennoncpa woooo whooo happy friday neighbor!! lets start your weekend plan!! get out that paper and get to it!!
@Moarrein first off, girl! you lost weight again this week! skinny minnie!! good job. ohhh no bronchitis is terrible. you give that little guy hugz from cyndie!!
@Mrsbell8well well... you don't have to weigh but i think it will help you remain accountable while you learn maintenance. so your choice. and i have been formulating my plan, just like you taught me! with fierce tenacity!! and i am going to join you in maintenance. so get learning and sharing. so when i get there, you will have it licked!! i love you girl.. xo your a truly an amazing woman. twinsies!!
ok, i will catch up with everyone else later. have the best day ever!!2 -

Yesterday wasn't the best day. My plan had to be tweeked since what I wanted to be made for lunch wouldn't be ready until the afternoon. I over ate a little on snacks but caught myself. I didn't get my exercise in either. We really were "just sitting on the dock of the bay wasting time" My wasting time makes for a busy day today, I have a lot to do, food shopping, liquor store, clean 3rd floor (easy did bedrooms already), hopefully get nails done and then PT this afternoon before heading back to Philly to wait for my family to get here. They are driving across from Pittsburgh so they won't get here until late. I will drive them back here tonight so we can start off the day tomorrow at the shore and not battling traffic to get down.
I will make my weekend plan while I am at home waiting for my guests. I would LOVE to get to the laundry matt to wash a comforter but it is in a sketchy neighborhood so not sure I want to do that at night. We will see the timing of it all. If I don't do the plan at the laundry matt, I will do it at home.
My checkins will be sketchy for the next 10 days but I will try my best. I do plan to get up early to exercise so that would come before getting on here. Hopefully I can do both. Or maybe they will be on their phones or computers in the am so I don't feel rude. We will see how it goes. Off to Acme....Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
@amsandos Great attitude! Have a great day!
@Moarrein Nice loss! You had a great month!!
@cyndiesstuff Nothing like a goods night sleep! I wonder if this job will help with that too since it is mentally more demanding. I can't believe you have been there for a week already! I am apologizing in advance for this next week. I am hoping I can get on more than I think I can. Thanks for being such a great captain! xoxo0 -

@sleepymom5 My starting weight for August is 196.60
-
@sleepymom5 oh oh. Well at least it’s not 200.
@cyndiesstuff you always make me feel like I’m getting a big hug from you. I love the support and all the sweet love. Thank you sister!
Actually Cyndie you posted something pivotal in my success journey. It was a saying about the difference between perseverance and tenacity. With perseverance we keep trying and trying and trying. With tenacity we change course and we succeed. I always think about that. And I made that my game plan. And I succeeded 😁❤️👙. We help each other. And for heavens sakes...get to your goal already!!! I am waiting for company. In one year from now how many of you team members will be at goal with me? Anyone want to commit?
Team I have been there. Plateaus, out of town training, Christmas parties, holidays, sick parents, death, anniversaries, birthdays, celebrations, company, loneliness, sadness, happiness, joy, anger, love, I have felt it all, experienced many of the same challenges. A year is a long time. But it’s going to pass. Where will you be next summer? What will you weigh?
I think the biggest thing for me was making a commitment. To myself and to this team. I would imagine a good many of my team members are individuals with high morals and values. Individuals that we can count on. When you make a commitment you honor it. But what is so different about your commitment to this team? Every month we make a commitment. Is August the month you honor your word? Stay the course team! If you have to call a friend, get rid of trigger foods, go hungry, wake up early, plan ahead...well then do it! So what!!! Just do it. Commit for 1 month to honor your words with your actions. Get smart and figure it out. This team is the huge reason I have been successful. I have logged on here every single day for over a year. I want this team to know that I am a woman of my word. You can count on me. I will succeed. I will honor my commitment to myself and to my team members. Will you join me and make the same pledge? Bottom line folks...nothing, no one and no events, is more important than your supreme health. Let’s get healthy together!!! I can do it and so can you!1 -
@Moarrein fabulous loss!!! Great job girl. I love reading about your adventures.
@pacsnc6 going down. Great job.
@amsandos it’s not the snacks it’s the mental that is the challenge. Set your mind and just do it. If it’s hard... so what. Do it anyway. You have achieved and accomplished so much. I assure you, you can accomplish this too!
@amytriesww welcome to our team. We look forward to meeting you.1 -

Happy F R I D A Y!!!!! Where have you been all my life! It was a busy week but it went by slow - weird huh?
@Mrsbell8well - I'm committing to getting to goal weight by the end of this year! 8.8 lbs left!! Next year I will be starting my 55th year on this planet and I want to make it a great one! And it's a year of 5's, because it will also be my 15th anniversary at work and I'm planning to run a 5k next year. I've always wanted to do one and dang it, I'm going it!
@cyndiesstuff - what @Mrsbell8well said - I agree! I also feel like I'm getting a huge hug from you as well. You are an amazing person Cyndie! I am honored that you are my friend! And I love what you wrote:
we are beautifully flawed works in progress!
Yes, each and everyone one of us is!!
@sleepymom5 - I hope you have a fun 10 days with your family! Enjoy every moment with them!! Good luck at PT today, hope it helps.
Thursday check in:
Food - absolutely on track!!!
Water - huge amounts. I'm addicted to my MiO lemonade and can't get enough!!
Exercise - week 2, day 2 C25K in the books!! My legs are definitely getting stronger as they aren't sore the next day!
No bike rides for a bit - they did the tar and gravel treatment on all our streets so I'm going to wait until they come in and vacuum it all up. I am not going to take a chance and slip and fall! Just means I get to work on Yoga a bit more often!!
Today: Food - almost all planned out. Just thinking about supper now! Yoga tonight plus 10,000+ steps and lots of water!!
Have a wonderful Friday!!

@Barbb1557 wooo whoo… that is a positive move down. good job. on the loss. ohhhh no, get rid of those pretzels. did you spend some time and really think about why you compulsively over ate them? the only way to truly change behavior is to analyze it and make a plan to change it next time. it will happen again. what will you do differently? and great goals for next month. you are on a positive track.
@amsandos you really need to analyze your plan. make a new mini goal for august. start where your at girl. you can do this! you are one of the strongest women I know!!
