    Food yes to calories (3 veg, 4 fruit and 33 g fiber!)

    Good morning, I believe I have crossed a huge mental barrier. I realized that I have stopped looking at this process of getting to a healthy weight as a series of deprivations, but more as a series of rewards. After all, how could I feel deprived having one of the best meals the Chesapeake Bay has to offer-soft crabs with heirloom tomatoes! Low in fat and calories, but super flavor.
    Going to the farmers stand for fresh peaches, world’s sweetest fresh corn and just picked cucumbers.
    This is the best time of the year for healthy eating.
    SLIMSONS what is your favorite local fresh food this time of year? 🦀

    This is great. And I agree. Half the battle is a mental battle

    Hi everyone! I've been a little neglectful of MFP lately, but have been on Team Slimsons for a few months now and LOVE it! I've still be tracking (mostly days) and working out and drinking lots of water, just haven't had much time for the forums recently. And since this is back-to-school month, my posts may continue to be a bit sporadic. Anyway, a little about me...

    I'm Gina and I'm 41 with 2 small kids (6 and 4). I work full time, and try to squeeze in workouts after work when I can. My general goals are to keep tracking most days, be at a calorie deficit most day (and not use my exercise calories often), drink 100+ oz of water each day and workout an average of 4 times each week (some weeks are 3, hopefully some will be 5 again soon). I've been overweight to some degree most of my life and have tried what feels like almost every diet imaginable, with varying degrees of success. I was most successful just eating healthy and working out often before I got pregnant with my oldest, but I gained a lot with her, lost some, got pregnant again, gained more weight and have been struggling ever since. I am really trying to "do it the right way" this time - meaning, making sustainable changes that I can maintain for the rest of my life. I may lose weight more slowly than some, but I'm ok with that. I make healthy choices as much as I can, but if (for example) my daughter makes a cake, you can be sure I'm going to have a piece (or two)!

    Wahoo! It's rare that I have that kind of a loss in 1 week. I didn't track my food over the weekend, so I'm a little concerned that number might be just an anomaly (I didn't feel good most of the weekend and so my eating was kinda all over the place). I guess only time will tell!
    Nice loss.

    Exercise yes

    Really having trouble getting back on track. Although even though I didn’t track yesterday I did exercise and I had my 3 meals for the day and a small bag of smart pop after dinner. No snacking in between.

    @vicky2767 It's really hard for me to get back into it when I fall off the wagon, even for a day, so I understand where you're coming from. Best advice, take it one day at a time, or even a meal at a time.

    @Gadgetgirl259 Great job Monday and Tuesday!!

    @Kin59vara Great job staying under!!

    @13point1runnermomma I think it's really hard to get motivated to exercise at all when it's that hot, so great job not only getting outside and running, but finishing the entire run!

    @digger61 Great day!!

    @ruthio6 Welcome Ruth! It's always hard when you're trying to change old habits. Eventually tracking and exercising will become your new habits and they will get a lot easier!!
    As for your weigh ins, you do only need to do that once a week and preferably on your specified weigh in day.
    And that would look like this:
    Ruthio6
    Wed
    PW (whatever that is for last week)
    CW (what your weight is now)

    @mrsjas2000 I have a lot of hip mobility issues myself, and you can work with it, stretching it out every day once or twice a day will eventually help improve it. Hopefully your therapist showed you some stretches you can do to help it. I have had a chiropractor show me stretches which helped, but honestly, my coach showed me a lot of stretches that have REALLY drastically helped my hip mobility. It can be done, it does take diligence and patience as it is a process.

    @jeapri17 Great exercise!

    @CindyJNC1963 Another fantastic day!

    @OkieGina first of all, some weeks are like that, you can eat on plan and still not see a drop on the scale, and sometimes for me I eat off plan and see a big drop on the scale, weight loss is sort of unpredictable week to week, sounds weird I know as we're all here striving to lose weight and stick to the plan, but what happens is we tend to retain water as sort of a placeholder for the fat we're losing, and eventually our bodies let go of that water we've been holding because it finally gives up that we're going to replace that fat that we lost and then we see a drop on the scale. It's particularly weird when it happens on those weeks where things didn't go according to plan, which sort of hurts your mental game because it gets you thinking that sticking to the plan doesn't matter, when in reality that's really a product of the work you've put it, your body just chose this time to let go of the excess water, which in your case may have been because your body was trying to heal as you didn't feel good and it decided to let go then and focus on getting you back to feeling better.
    Long story short, weight loss isn't linear and can be somewhat unpredictable, you've been putting in the work, and you're seeing the benefits, stick to the plan and it will keep going!

    @o0kody0o I have the same issue, I can't do moderation, if I let myself go one day, I end up with a 3 day binge, and that is originally why I went the Keto route anyway, keeps me from eating cookies and such which I just can't control myself with. And even now, if I over eat one day, I want to keep doing it, and that is why I work really hard at not giving myself cheat days and what not because I just can't do that. And also I'm finding myself in the same boat as you, my original goal was 141 and I hit that, and passed it actually and I still have some body fat left, but I'm finding it really hard (damn near impossible) to get back into it and finish the job.

    @dustyspal You're doing great. And sometimes with water intake, I play mind tricks with myself. I will fill up 4 1-ltr water bottles each morning (I think seeing it in smaller chunks helps me to think it's not so bad) and tell myself that I need to drink each one by a certain time to get it done for the day, I just don't love drinking water, but it's super important to the body and to weight loss.

    @Fitness327wk Awesome day!

    @OkieGina Welcome back Gina!! I think that your goals are great, and sometimes you have to fit your new healthy choices into your lifestyle, and kids can certainly make that challenging, when they're making cake :wink: My niece has definitely made it more challenging in the past for me to eat better, or less as she's sort of a little snacker, but at 4 (nearly 5) she's starting to understand that we (my mom, sister, and me) don't eat sugar and therefore we can't eat certain things that she can and when she wants to share we just can't eat it. My mom told her that the doctor told us we can't eat sugar, which was a surprisingly clever way to get a 4 year old to be on board, and is now making me wonder what else I always believed her on that she sort of just made up lol...

    @AB0215 yes my weight yesterday was 254

    When I saw the specialist yesterday he had a physio therapist working with him and I thought he was going to kill me.
    When the dr left he said he’s going to send me to physio and for a cortisone shot, so I’m hoping to feel better soon

    Hi I'm Ruth. I am 55 and have just finished my first week. I have been planning on losing weight for the last year or two and am excited i followed through with a week of tracking and exercise. I have been on mfp years earlier but it's been a long time since i kept track of my eating. Started last week at 260 and tomorrow I'll officially do the weigh in. I have 4 kids and 4 grandkids with one more on the way. My husband and I are on the same goal to lose a 100 pounds and we are excited about being more active. Last Fall we bought jet skis and that has been so much fun.
