What's on your mind today?

This is where you can share what's on your mind. Recipes, ideas, workouts, anything that you think might be helpful to others.
Maybe, you've tried something that has worked for you in the past and would like to share it with the group. Maybe, you have a NSV (Non Scale Victory) that you would like to share with the group. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing or anything that you feel comfortable asking the group with help....this is the place to come.
The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!
So, what's on your mind today??

Our day trip adventure today was to Cummings Nature Center. Here are just a few of the many pics I took today.

The sun is shining on the 2nd day of spring down-under, and feeling much better now, so just been for lunch time walk (& coffee).
To get anywhere decent it's at least a 15min walk down the hill to city. - making the most of it before rain comes in a couple days!!

Sharing just a few pics from our day trip today. My husband (a/k/a DH, beau, boyfriend or "Poppy") and I strolled (my exercise for today) for an hour and a half along a nature trail in Brighton NY checking out the wildflowers, butterflies and bees. Another beautiful day to be outside enjoying nature!

Snowshoe072: would love to hear more about motorcycle trips taken or future plans. I actually track my rides as exercise, since it does burn calories navigating the bike.1

oopsie .. I just ate a giant cookie :O
Hubby brought them in and I ate without thinking
well .... that's my lunch blown (delicious but not very filling) I can still taste it, but, I regret it as I am also still hungry and could have had so many better things nutritionally wise

Sharing two thoughts I had this week:
1. I had a crappy day at work yesterday where I made a mistake, but my coworker was rude and childish about handling it. Instead of coming home and beating myself up over the mistake, I said "screw it, it's over" and went out for a run. I didn't allow myself to eat my sorrows away and stayed within my calories.
2. I've had a deficit of 2300 over the past three days. I was very hungry today and drinking extra water, eating a bit more protein, and such just wasn't cutting it. So I ate at a 450 calorie deficit instead of 750 which made me "fail" today. But, I know that if I didn't allow myself the extra bit of food today, it would have turned into a hunger binge tomorrow. So...I still ate below maintenance by a fair amount, I'm not starving right now, and I should be in a good position energy wise for my runs tomorrow and Friday. I was in a lose-lose situation: I decided to just take the smarter option instead of trying to fight my body.8 -
Jim, Annie & I hiked the trail between Turning Point Park and the Ontario Beach Lighthouse today for a round trip total of 6 miles, so that was my exercise for today. This redneck memaw is tired tonight! Big difference at the beach after Labor Day. The carousel is closed up, picnic pavilions were empty, trees showing hints of fall foliage, beach devoid of people and the Harbor Town Belle paddle wheeler was docked for today. Some pics from our hike...it was another fabulous day to be outside.

We have a Wellness Walk/Run every second Friday at 9:00. Today I was the only one brave (crazy?) enough to go due to the howling gale (I'm in South Africa so not Dorian...) It was onshore so I didn't even get help in one direction, but although it was run/walk, I did my 30 minutes and got my points for my insurance wellness program (which means I get a spin on the rewards board next week and get cashback on my running shoes.) I can't complain about the opportunity to run in this beautiful environment during working hours...

Looking for suggestions for high protein low calorie low carb snack foods...anyone? Just as a side note, I'm allergic to all tree nuts, oats, soybeans and fresh fruit with skins (i.e apples, peaches, etc ) and I also have a stomach intolerance to eggs and bananas. I know...crazy!1

A couple of pictures from my day. Needles from all the injections we did on the snakes, plus tubing food to one and nebulising two. My big boy Charlie watching me while I clean his enclosure, he is about 40kgs. Little Abby our hand raised seal pup who stranded last year and a couple of the resident adult seals.

Have you tried greek yogurt? delicious with honey or even a spoon of jam or some fruits also some people have it on top of cereal
Also cottage cheese, chicken and fish are all high protein with low cals
I usually have a cooked chicken in the fridge just for snacking
Hope these are of help

You could try protein shakes or quest bars -so many flavors or simply some cheeses as a snack0 -

Great suggestions. Fat free cottage cheese is a staple for me. It's one of the cheapest sources of protein and I don't worry about bacteria the way I do with chicken or fish (I'm sensitive to bacteria) so I can take it with me places.
Protein shakes are another option. Quite often I will have just a half scoop. I usually have the whey protein type but if I'm having it two days in a row I change it up to one of the veggie ones: pumpkin seed, hemp, or pea protein.
Does your allergy to fresh fruit with skin include berries? I add berries (often from frozen, but fresh when I can) to both my cottage cheese (often with a few drops of stevia) and to my protein shakes. Helps me hit my fruit/veggies goals and ups the taste significantly. I'm not so sure I could have either of them plain.1 -
Logged and tracked all my food and stayed way under my calorie goal my exercise was my spin bike and playing catch with the dogs in the yard.1
-
I know one of the critical aspects of me keeping on track is planning and preparation. This week will be tricky as I'm at a little coastal town for conference and food is always buffet style so it's difficult to log. I will do my best but I have also planned my exercise (and it's a great opportunity to have some me time in between all the people.) Running, walking and a few yoga videos for raining days.6
-
I go on lots of walks when it's not so hot any more, between end of September and early June. It's a beautiful area. This little river is actually in the city itself.

@Slimpossible007 @Ketch_22 @goldthistime thank you for the suggestions. The cottage cheese is definitely something to get used to. I've tried several different kinds and it's a tough sale...lol!1
-
I usually mix the cottage cheese with other foods .. you could flake fish or pineapple through it or spread it on toast. Its very nommy on baked potato, it replaces the cheese for me, and I have it with coleslaw and egg mayo.
I only ever found one brand that I actually liked eating on its own and then they stopped making that brand ..

Have been walking for miles and miles for exercise...but no counting calories or tracking. Zurich is situate at the confluence of the rivers Limmat and Sihl. This is the Limmat River. Zurich has done a great job of making walking trails and green space along their river fronts for public enjoyment.

Lovely pic! Most times I've been to Zurich it pelted down with rain, so all my photographs are grey, but it's still a handsome city - wouldn't say 'nice' or 'beautiful'. Lots of good restaurants too and lots of organic food ... Have a nice time!3
