MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES OCTOBER CHAT

Howdy group!
Those of you in the Team Support/Cheer section of the team - the mods are asking that we verify whether you want to remain in Support/Cheer -or- move up to the challenge section. We're fine either way - they just want to balance the count of challengers across all teams so they need to know how many new registrants to add to our team.
I know @Tess5036 stepped away to prepare for her big race (although is still graciously keeping the Fitbit challenges alive). And it's great to see @Wishusdonna in the team thread on a regular basis but I don't know if you are ready to come back to the challenge part. And I know our fearless motivator @AustinRuadhain has been in maintenance mode. Any others? Any of ya'll interested in moving back to the challenge section? If so, just let us know. Thanks!1 -

Water: over
Exercise: 30 minutes BOD video, 15-minute power walk on the treadmill, and a whole lot of housework.
Today, I spent a great deal of time trying on clothes in my closet and getting rid of a huge pile of stuff. Hubby is taking me shopping this weekend as part of our weekend getaway for some new winter clothes and maybe a pair of boots if I can find some I like. I'm excited!!
Steps for 10/29-12,479
I'm excited for you, shopping for new clothes sounds fun! I've been going through old clothes, it's really weird. Stuff I'm sure will fit doesn't, then I hate getting rid of old favorites. It does feel great to donate all the bags of clothing!0 -
@AustinRuadhain Great articles! The first one had me thinking of evil scientists making the perfect "junk" foods so we'll have cravings and eat more of them. I agree with the second about boredom and embracing the process. It was easy to view eating into maitanence as an end goal but it's an ongoing process as well.
I tried responding to posts and lost all of it, hang in there for those of you struggling!
Exercise bike, elliptical, weights

Hi there, bronco!
I am happy to do another month as Motivator/cheerleader! I am still in maintenance mode (and that is going well!), so NO to being moved to the Challenge section.
AND since you remind us -- a big THANK YOU to Tess for those Fitbit challenges!

Hello everyone, and I would really like to say thanks to everyone for the encouragement/concern.
@broncobuddee - am I ready to come back to the challenge? I would really like to and I know I can manage steps.
I'm 11 weeks post-surgery which should be supergirl territory now. I am finding issues with my bladder, scar, loose skin/fat round my surgery area and subsequent feelings of hopelessness are holding me back, but I need to fight now. I feel like I have been surprise-plunged into later middle age when I was pretty youthful before, and I should be feeling like a survivor but I don't. So, what to do?
I am capable of walking and swimming, and will even try going back to the allotment soon, though I absolutely dread it (weeeeeeeeeds!!). I can probably run as well (I have for the bus), though it all moves weirdly down there and I don't like it. At least my coat covers it when I run for the bus.
I want to find the happy me again. And I know I need to lose another 17lbs. Eric isn't in the way. Booze isn't in the way. Maybe I can do it now...
Can we play it by ear, if I say yes to November, and then see how I am for December?
As for yesterday. Redded my calories again, but only because my dinner choices got taken away from me. Poor service before our cinema date, where only my husband got served because the wait staff didn't properly hear my order, so we shared his pie, and then chips after the film. Still running on a 700 calorie deficit for the week, which is not so bad. It's maintaining.
Hydration was good, and 9138 steps, almost there!

I saw this, and thought people might find some useful nuggets in it. I know that I have worked and continue to work on building better habits around my health:
Healthy Eating: The Beginner’s Guide on How to Eat Healthy and Stick to It (about behaviors, not diet!)
Healthy eating. It's something everyone knows they should do, but few of us do as consistently as we would like. The purpose of this guide is to share practical strategies for how to eat healthy and break down the science of why we often fail to do so.
Oh, and this is a great article of his, too!
How to Stay Focused When You Get Bored Working Toward Your Goals
Fall in love with boredom. Fall in love with repetition and practice. Fall in love with the process of what you do and let the results take care of themselves.

I look forward to reading these articles. Thanks for posting!2 -

Yes!! I understand totally and I really do think we need to support each other and use this group for the accountability that it's meant to be. I'm the first to admit that I don't do that well. Let's make this a November to remember....and celebrate! Ohhhh and what were your steps for 10/23?

@Wishusdonna I'm sorry you're not bouncing back as you hoped, surgery takes a lot out of the body. It sounds like you're doing great as far as a deficit goes! I think you can find the happy you again, really think about what you want and take one step at a time to achieve it. We're here for you!
@AustinRuadhain those are some serious steps!2 -

@Wishusdonna I’ll fight with you! Reading your post this morning reminded me that we all have our struggles, however different they may be. I had high hopes the beginning of October but it didn’t go quite as expected so I got my boxing gloves on for November. Lol1

@davors19 - Good job maintaining! 👍🏽
@wishusdonna - Keep taking good care of yourself! 👐
@Katmary71 - 🎉 What a great day Thursday! Especially great work watching and experimenting to see what adjustment will deal with cravings.
Thanks for the compliment on my unusually high (for me) steps! I wanted to end the month strong. 💪😀
You said "The first one had me thinking of evil scientists making the perfect "junk" foods so we'll have cravings and eat more of them." It's a thing! 🤓
@TeresaW1020 - An unexpected day off work - wow! What a gift! 🎁
@leonadixon - Nice stepping! 👣👍🏽😀
@mrmcgrath - "Challenge Section" refers to where you are on the spreadsheet. You can be in the section of people weighing in weekly and who are counted toward the month's challenge, or you can be in the Team Support section (part of the conversation, but not working to lose weight right now). So I am in the Team Support section
🤓 To see all this:
Go to the main page for the Fat2Fit group and scroll down a bit, you can find a link to the spreadsheet for the current month (watch for text in red). Once there, choose the Mission Slimpossibles tab to see the sections. The spreadsheets change out from month to month.1 -

Sunshine, your keep fighting attitude is such an inspiration! We are here cheering for you and your work on your health! Thanks to both of you (Sunchine and @Wishusdonna ) for inspiring me to keep at work on mine!1 -
What is the challenge section?
The challenge section is short for the name of the group - F2F Weight Loss Challenege and is the top part of each team tab in the spreadsheet. In short, it means that your weekly weigh-in counts towards the overall team loss or gain and is used in the tallies "against" the other teams.
The other section (Team Support aka "Cheer section") is for those who are currently maintaining or have reached goal or who are on a temporary break. Weigh-ins by people in that section don't count in the overall team loss or gain calculations each week.
Edit: Ugh! Reading is fundamental. Sorry @AustinRuadhain - didn't see you covered this already.1 -
I'm going to hit everyone up with some reminders a few hours early in hopes in closing the month with great participation! Sorry if I missed your post in the team thread... I already failed reading once today...

5 for 90:
Make time for yourself: I love my walks!
Exercise 30 minutes a day: if I hit the above, I hit this.... =>
Hydrate: more than the usual of late
Give up a trigger food / behavior: caving when I just want my mommy - a win!
Thankful for: my sweet, sweet hubby who has been so kind and caring of me while I've been sick!
Remember the good, be the good, encourage others on their journey
@TeresaW1020 - I like steps because they just add up and it's been easy but it is becoming harder to do, at least for me, because of the shortening days. I've been thinking of adding something to it such as a step platform, inspired by @AustinRuadhain and then I'd be able to move it indoors and not rely so heavily on weather. This probably doesn't really answer the question, I've just been noodling on how to keep momentum in colder, shorter days.
Hydration is going to become even more important for me because part of what has kept me down was a kidney infection - don't try this at home, kids - it is decidedly, and most emphatically, not fun. So upping the liquids intake is on my list of self-improvements. => Taking it easy for several days; may take a walk tomorrow but a short one and maybe Sunday, although if I can get in some work/work on Sunday to preserve planned days off, I'll do that.2 -
