Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. This is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month.
FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better.
GOOD LUCK!

Hi! I'm in... First timer looking to get back on track in January...5

Just joined, a friend told me about the group and how it's helped her and I love a good challenge! I look forward to getting to know everyone.6

Back for my second month. This group is the best!
I'm working on my last 3-5 pounds while transitioning to maintenance. It's super slow, but I'm hoping to get to goal weight (low end of maintenance range) by the end of March. I also need to up my game on strength training while avoiding any injury to my crummy joints, ligaments and tendons. It's a delicate balancing act living in this body.6 -
I'm still trying to get back into my routine after a crazy year in 2019 but every little victory gets be closer. Summer here in South Africa is my busiest season because we have lots of stranded seals to rehab but I get some time off in January to recover after everyone else is back at work. I plan to spend time in January working hard to get back to my Jiu Jitsu routine. This challenge is a great help in keeping the plans on track.8

Hello. I would like to join. I took care of new granddaughter for a year living a plane trip away from home. Have chronic illness that keeps flaring. I am cleared to move and so ready. I gained about 30 pounds. 10 are now gone, 20 to go. I do better with accountability right now.8

This is my second month in UAC. @RangerRickL thanks again for providing this platform for everyone. Much appreciate you.7

Hi all! Welcome to 2020, returnees and newcomers.
And a thousand thanks to our leader, @RangerRickL for helping us stay accountable.
I’m Terri from Northern Ireland. Back for my 15th month. Working on improving my fitness and health. Made the Winners Circle 14 times so far.
Original Goal for 2019 was to reach 155lbs, which I achieved, and revised down to <150lbs. Achieved the upper 140s in early Dec, and stayed there. I am now at my lowest weight in 4 decades!
UAC is a good place for anyone to start the practicing of new habits, in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Just a few details on my personal journey to health and fitness.
Aim for 2019 ~ reach 155 <150WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED
Aim for each month ~ Weigh less at the end than I did at the beginning
I am FOCUSED on heathy food choices and DETERMINED to achieve my goals!
Age: 73; Height 5’2”; Female
SW: 227lbs (Mar 2014)
LW: 153 (Oct 2016)152.6 Oct 2019
UGW: 155 140s (this may change when I get there 😂 )
CW: 152.6- For the last 3 years I have tended to bounce up and down between 160 - 170. Occasionally I bounced up/down a little more.
- My ideal situation would be to be below 155, to allow me some wiggle room for holidays/celebrations, hence my original goal for 2019, which I have now revised down a little.
- I use CI/CO and a variety exercise for extra calories.
- Logic would suggest that I have found a natural comfortable weight, and, according to modern BMI calculation, I am in the upper range of normal for my age and height. However, logic doesn't always dictate our desires and feelings. 😂
- Getting and staying healthy and fit requires the development of a permanent lifestyle reset.
- Replacing unhelpful habits with more useful ones is key to to the process.
- Losing weight is only one of the elements.
- Eating healthy and staying actively is not OPTIONAL, but an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts on weight which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be several lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a permanent lifestyle change for most people.

Hi everyone, my name is Carol; and I've participated in UAC for the past two years. I don't always make Winner's Circle, but for me the objective is to be in the company of others with similar, healthy like-minded goals. I enjoy reading everyone's posts which one can find to be helpful for a variety of reasons:
1. Someone else's approach might be something I can incorporate in my own journey.
2. Encouraging words provide the incentive to keep up the good work.
3. The positive attitudes of others let me know that "I can do this, too."
4. A misguided step isn't failure, but simply a learning experience.
A new day, in a new month, in a new year will soon be upon us. Make it a new beginning. Welcome everyone. I look forward to the continued journey for 2020.9 -
Hello. everybody. I've taken part in this challenge for several months now and look forward to January. The year 2019 was good for me -- I went from obese to normal, and now want to help myself in maintenance. This friendly, supportive group adds extra structure to my day. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all.9

3rd month with UAC (joined Nov 2019). I’ve found the accountability, feedback, and other’s experiences motivating!!!
Really looking forward to starting 2020 with a plan in place. Losing weight has been on my resolution list forever, but this coming year doesn’t feel as daunting due to changes I made in 2019. I lost ~50 lbs in 2019, but still a long way to go
About me:
-Used MFP consistently since September 2019
-Avg 90 mins cardio / day, weights ~2 / week.
—-favorite activities are weight lifting and hiking
-Have 100+ lbs to lose, and it’s been slow, but steady-ish since September
-Work ~60 hours per week July-February and 80+ hours March-June at sedentary job.
-T1D 20+ years-use Dexcom/tslim.6 -
Back for month 2! Looking forward to January6

Good morning... I'm Annie & a first timer here.. ... & I'm desperate ! .
I have zero will power at the moment which makes me fell sad & useless..... I really need support & a challenge to motivate me...
I realise its down to me & no-one else but it will be great to have support from others...
So as from today, because I feel fat, fat, fat ... I'm winding down & will be accountable every day to recording my intake daily .
I've been with MFP for many years... probably 7 ... & I keep coming back because I truly believe that calorie counting is the only way I will lose weight ...
My present weight is 174 lbs...
I look forward to hearing from you all8 -
Hi all.
I'm happy to have found this group. This will be my first month with it.
I was doing great until Late October when I threw my routine right out of wack.
In just 2 short months I can see and feel the difference in my body, health and energy. I'm looking forward to getting back on track.
My main goals for January are to go back to a low carb, intermittent fasting, Walking the hill, and to get on my rowing machine.
I look forward to hearing from you all

@willbeslimannie welcome, Annie and @cmeride welcome!
This will be the 5th month I've taken part in the UAC. I've found it very helpful. It adds extra structure and accountability to my day.4 -
First timer. Looking forward to the challenge4

Howdy y'all. I'm Nikki. I live in a small town in West Virginia, USA. This is my first go around with this challenge. I'm a former athlete trying to remember what it took to get where I was and forgive myself for where I am. Ok, I remember. It took personal accountability a group of like-minded friends and not always expecting perfection. The last few years I've really struggled with these things. I look forward to getting to know y'all.
My overall goal is to get back on my bike and back to climbing. Power to weight ratio is a biotch right now, but it is something I can fix. Getting my mind back to where the climbs don't intimidate me is another story. Lowell Hill in March. Huck Hill in April and the back side of Huck in May... There will be no QOMs on these climbs, but I will get my *kitten* up the hills before spring is over!6 -
Hi all, newbie here looking to get rid of around 40lbs so defo need the accountability. Looking forward to checking in daily. Here we come 20206

Not only am I a first timer here, but I'm new to the community and forums. Still finding my feet but loving the support and accountability 🙂10

Hi all! New member here. I’ve lost 40# in 2019 and have managed to make exercise a part of my life by exercising 5 to 6 days per week. The last 4-5 weeks have seen a big struggle in my exercising and I’m doing everything I can to keep it going. Sounds like this group challenge could be just what I need. Looking forward to the next month with all of you!6

Sup everyone! Shawn here ready to lose a lot of fat and gain a lot of muscle!7

Looking forward to my 3rd month. Most of what there is to know about me is in my profile.5

Hello!! I’m happy to be “back on the train” even if it hasn’t necessarily left the station. I have been obese for a lifetime but lost 100+ lbs five years ago through lifestyle changes and diligently using MFP.
Over the last five years, life has turned upside down and my weight settles right back where it was 5’ 10” and 290 lbs.
It’s a terrible feeling due to physical pain exacerbated by weight, and the shame and embarrassment of failing.
However, I know for certain that it CAN be done, because I’ve done it before!
I keep an open diary, feel free to friend me and/or comment

Hey there! I’m Krista. I’ve had this app for around a year or so but haven’t made much use of it until now. I got a premium account to help encourage me to stay motivated, and I’m joining this group because I need to learn weight management in the form of self control. I’m well educated on dietary needs but when it comes to actually eating, my brain just shuts off. I’m now a wrestler on my schools team, so I can’t be gaining weight anymore. This is the year I correct my habits before going off the deep end! I’m about 155 lbs and have a two month goal of 145. From there I want to maintain my weight and focus on gaining muscle in place of fat. Let’s do this!5
-
This is my first time to join a challenge like this and I'm looking forward to the accountability. Good luck everyone!5
-
First timer here! I like this as I know that setting a weight loss goal will either depress me if I don't reach it, or depress me if I do as I'll feel I should have worked harder. I just have no idea how weight loss is going to work for me. So just keeping to those goals and targets, exercising, not overeating, and being accountable is the way forward!5
-
Newbie here, I am excited about joining this group. I need more accountability, to keep me on track.8
-
I've been a MFP member for 8 years, have commented here and there on message threads, but am so excited to find this accountability group. I've found over the last year or so it is hard to keep myself motivated, so now that the holidays are over it's time to get back on my game and I hope this group will be the kick in the pants I need!8
-
First timer and ready to break the barriers!6

I’m new to this challenge. The exercise is going to be the greatest challenge for me. At this point I’m not doing any exercise, so I’m planning to change all that starting January 1.
Good luck everyone!8
