Chris - lots of surgery prep! If you lived close, I would make you my post-surgery all brand muffins! I've nursed my hubby through 2 hips, my mom a left hip, and my sister recently a knee. Those pain meds can be brutal with constipation...these muffins are the best, and they taste really good the way I make them. LMK if you want the recipe.

I would love the recipe, Karen. Thank you. Both times I was on heavy duty opioids I ended up with a bowel obstruction. THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING EVER!! ...except when I got hit by that car when I was a teenager which is the cause of all the back and hip stuff, I'm pretty sure. They will be giving me more opioids after surgery...ugh...nooooo I'm sorry...TMI.

My sweet husband has had both hips replaced and one of them twice because it was metal on metal and causing a ton of problems. I took care of him then and thru his back surgery. He's going to take care of me.
The class was more info than I wanted. I just want them to go in and do it like they did my back. Anyway...24 day to go.

We are invited to the bookstore after nap time by our sweet darling grandson! Ronan is doing great with his potty training and going to the bookstore is one of his rewards for telling Sara or Pete he has to go. He still needs help but has stayed dry and is in big kids pants. I don't remember Nick's potty training but Sara was so easy. She saw pretty panties in Target and wanted them so bad. So we got them, she put em on and that was that!

My weight is sky-rocketing. ***sigh*** I think it's stress or just too much peanut butter and salt. :o My trainer was in a car accident Friday. She has a BIG truck and she was rear ended by a kid not paying attention. She got hurt. I'm checking on her to see how she's doing. Man!

Okay...enough... You guys have a great weekend. Stay outta trouble...I'll try.

Chris I hope she is ok. I hear what you said. Sending hugs.

Been trying to decide on a different shade of green for my moms bathroom. Choosing tile for the backsplash. I hate designing. Going to put the vanity and plumbing back tomorrow. Paint and finalize the time choices.

Chris - these muffins may really help you then! Eat a few a day. I lighten them up, but do put a small amount of choc in ( my 3 nephews had no idea they had so much fiber in them with a few chips...made them taste great! I prefer almond or whole wheat flour....up to you. Enjoy!

    POST SURGERY MUFFINS

    INGREDIENTS
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat or almond)
1/2 cup sugar (if I put chocolate chips in, I half this)
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2 cups Kellogg's® All-Bran® Original cereal
    1 1/4 cups fat-free milk
    1 egg
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    1 tbsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp cloves
    1/2 cup chocolate chips
    1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

    DIRECTIONS
    1. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and spices. Set aside.

    2. In large mixing bowl, combine KELLOGG'S ALL-BRAN cereal and milk. Let stand about 15 minutes or until cereal softens. Mix well. Add egg and oil. Beat well. Add flour mixture, stirring only until combined. Add raisins,
    Chocolate chips and nuts.
Portion evenly into twelve 2 1/2-inch muffin pan cups coated with cooking spray.

    3. Bake at 400° F about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes. You can freeze.

Chris- hope your trainer is ok! Hard to watch our weight fluctuate. You are under a lot of stress most likely contributing:( Hang in there!

Shelley - Green sounds nice....hope Mom likes it. I'm not a fan of picking colors either.

Ate too much yesterday. Not terribly, but too much lol. Plan on fasting through about 3pm today to reset.

    Have a great Sunday!

Karen I hope it works for you. It is more of a mint green.

Finished my Valentine candy. Did laundry while Rocky applied the paint. Took longer to dry than we wanted. Tomorrow we will get more done. I enjoyed my workout this morning.

190.0 this morning. I was 194.2 last Tuesday when I joined PF. A 4.2 loss. :) This is the most I’ve loss in quite a while. I’m very happy and can’t wait to work on the next 10 to get out of the 190s. Now I need to keep up the consistency. I worked out 5 days last week. Also, spring tennis practice starts this week...if the rain stays away. I signed up for weekly swim lessons to start March 4th. Weekly lessons every Wednesday for the month. Going to work on improving my strokes and stamina

Working on recovering from this pink eye.

Sending everyone hugs! Have a great week.

Kathy, fabulous weight drop!! And pink eye is one of the worst. So sorry you caught it.

Good job on the chocolate, Shelley!

Karen, I restarted my fasting today. Thank you for the recipe. I'm going to see if I can get my sweet, darling daughter to make up a batch or two.

My weight has sky-rocketed. So sad. My hip surgeon had a cancellation for next Tuesday the 25th, but we've already made all the arrangements for Mar 10th. SIL's mom is involved, and it will get too complicated if we try for next week. My brain is wired for the 10th anyway. I would probably have a nervous breakdown if we changed to next Tuesday.

Our trainer is doing okay. Her neck is a little stiff but not too bad. Good thing she's in great shape.

Kathy that is so awesome. Keep dropping those pounds! I am so glad you are continuing to work on your swimming. Such a great sport. (Says the gap who does not swim). Hahaha

Chris to bad you were not able to take advantage of the cancellation. But I do understand are the preparations that you all have made.

Rockys surgery was successful yesterday. The doctor came out after barely starting and explained that he found a large mass of polyps under his left cheek. It would be a separate procedure than was already being done. So I have consent to go ahead and remove them also. A little more recovery time.

I have not weighed in. I am afraid to. But I did clean out my Zumba closet. I just have had close to 50 outfits or more. Folder and filled 5 large trash bags with them. Then took them to the YMCA to give to the Zumba instructor. I hope her regulars find some inspiration from them. Then went through the rest of the room and filled the garbage can. Good thing tomorrow is trash day! I might take up Zumba when I retire. But that is 5 years away.

Kathy - Keep up this great work!

Shelley - How is the fasting going? Well I hope!

Going ok here.... since I haven't been weighing myself I'm not sure what the scale says. I did squeeze into my size 10 pants again yesterday. I just keep putting them on periodically to see if they feel is her. Overall I feel good. I just wish my body would lose weight in a more uniform way. My face couldn't be any thinner and the top of my body is small. But these hips and thighs don't quit LOL!

    We can do this!

143.8 this morning at 5:30. I've been fasting about 15-16 hours the last couple of days and trying to eat sensibly. Man! I really don't like this struggle. I know that once I've recovered from the surgery I'll be out walking again and burning calories and complaining because our trainer is working me so hard. I don't want any other body parts to fail like this. I'm NOT A FAN OF DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS!!! I go in and they just take out parts they say I no longer need but leave scars everywhere! ...sigh...sorry about the whining.

We are getting the boys in a few mins. It's going to be a good day. :D

Karen I don't remember fasting. I do usually eat only 2 meals on the weekends. Weighing I skipped for awhile. Though I did weigh this morning. My daughter is rather hippy also. So I understand. But there are times I am depressed that my face is one of the last places I lose weight. So I always look bloated in photos. Always greener on the other side. Hope you can deal those hips a blow. :)

Chris I hate being in the hospital also. But I don't mind scars. They are proof of battles won. Hope you had a wonderful day.

Got rid of a few more unnecessary things around the house. Tomorrow I hope to work on the bathroom some more. And get rid of a few more items. I have a closet downstairs that could use a thorough gutting!

I so need to clean up around here. Going to make a list for after surgery. Garage is going to be top on that list. Sara watched her friends two kids. Girl and a boy. The boy just loves Ronan. I asked her if this made her want to have a brother or sister for him and she came back with "NO!" I laughed!

Woke up later this morning. Worked out w/our trainer. Went to the post office then the store. Sweet husband helped me make soup. Cleaned the kitchen and now I'm going to read. I'm a bit tired!!!

Have a great weekend you guys.

Karen - I was trying on different outfits yesterday to wear to Brunch today and found a pair of size 12 pants that I bought early last year when I was in the 170s and wore to a concert. I hadn’t worn a size 12 probably since high school. They are now hanging on my closet door as a motivation. I can button them but they are way too tight. Must work on the abs!

Chris - you’re allowed to whine a little. I know after the surgery and recovery you’ll be back and killing it as you always do!

Shelley - I’m still cleaning and purging as well. Next up is my bathroom cabinets...ugh! I postponed my hardwood floors and kitchen upgrade until I get things more organized. 2020 goals :D

    Happy Sunday ladies.

Kathy upgrading the floor would get me moving for sure! Keep us posted. Swimming and watching those calories will get those pants looking good on. :)

Got most of my moms bathroom painted today. Just touch ups now. Running out of time to get it all done.

Calorie count really high here in California...ugh. 15 days until to go. We have the Pre-Op medical phone call tomorrow then we go see the tax lady. Wonder what last year will bring or take. :D

Watched the boys this morning then worked out w/our trainer now I'm not going to do anything but read and eat dinner. Made chicken/bean soup with a different salsa this weekend. I really like it over mashed potatoes!!!

I did our taxes yesterday. I was getting a lot back. And then I added in Rocky! Lol That guy hardly had any taxes withheld. How quickly it changes.

Chris I love potatoes. Enjoy. Surgery is getting closer. Rocky was putting away a set was for tile. He slipped and it came down and cut his nose. That would have hurt any day of the week. But he is still recovering from nose surgery! Ouch.

Boy did I eat too much yesterday :-) they had a Black History Month luncheon and celebration in the office yesterday and it was wonderful. But eating that many carbohydrates at lunch threw off my whole day. Back to the races today with fasting. :-)

Well, it looks like my SS check will be a lot less than I was thinking because of taxes and the fact they take your Medicare payment out of it. Our tax lady helped us with that one.

Good job, Karen and Kathy! My weight just keeps going up. Guess it doesn't help to buy almond roca at the grocery store, does it?

Glad your pink eye is coming to an end, Kathy. Nasty stuff. Just wipe everything down before you use it and wash your hands really, really good before leaving the gym or dump a 1/2 gal of alcohol on them.

We got the boys this morning then I went to our trainers for an hour then I shopped then I had to sit down. Thirteen days to go.

Karen I enjoy history of any kind. Was there talk of Catherine Johnson? Not sure if I got it right. Died this week or last week. I have my days all messed up. She worked on the NASA program back when there was still segregation going on. They had a movie about her and other black women in the program. Hidden figures I think. Any way she was an inspiration to all women. I should show the movie to my granddaughter. She was one of the greatest mathematicians ever.

Chris explain that tax issue to me please.

Kathy glad you are almost better.

Next month is my early month at work. I hope it does not interfere with my workouts.

Shelley - so, I'm not taking my SS until I'm 70 which will be on March 12th. I have to take it now. No more delaying it. SS estimates my check will be a certain amount...that is the gross amount before taxes. If I don't have taxes taken out of each check, we will owe the lump sum at the end of the year. Not a fun thing. Our tax lady gave me the form instructing SS to take 22% out for taxes, which we turned in to the SS office here in town. Also, since I pay Medicare each month, that amount will be taken out of the SS check, and I won't have to cut a check for Medicare each month.
    Questions?
PS...have I told you how much I dislike saying I'm going to be 70? On the other hand, when I got hit by that car when I was 16, the doc told my mom that I wouldn't live past 35 due to the damage done to all my organs.. HA! Look at me now, doc!! Fooled ya!

Shelley - what is early month?

Going for a hip xray this afternoon. Twelve days to go. My weight is sky-rocketing!!! :'(

Shelley - they did talk about Catherine Johnson! I love hidden Figures. It's one of my favorite movies. Really shows how women were treated back then in particular women of color. Amazing movie.

Chris retirement is so complicated sounding! And especially since it is the time of our lives when so many folks memory starts to fail them. Thanks for the information. Early month is when I go into work before the rest of the crew. I will be searching the areas that the public have access to. I will be looking mainly for weapons. I do get to leave early most days but it messes with my schedule.

Karen it is also one of my favorite movies. Women enjoy so many more freedoms now than ever before. We must be forever vigilant to make sure we never give them back. Hope you got your workout in as planned.

Today was a fast day at work. Getting to read and go to bed.

Looking forward to a more mild weekend. I've basically done something or traveled the past 3 so I'm glad to be home bound:-)

Planning on going to the gym as soon as I have enough coffee. Definitely want to do some weight training. When I get really tired for some reason I slack on the weights and try to do more cardio. But I know how important a weight-training is.

Then off to a chiropractor adjustment which I desperately need. Tonight my mom is taking my brother and his family and my family out to dinner to a nice Italian restaurant. Trying to fast most of today so I can enjoy a nice dinner. Fingers crossed :-)

Happy Leap Day ladies. Going to visit a banquet hall this morning. I’m thinking about throwing my father a surprise 85th birthday party in July. He’s such a ham and family oriented that he will love having all the kids, grandkids and great-grand kids here in Atlanta.. Looking at venues now. My second choice is a trip to the beach with him and my mom for a long weekend.

After touring the banquet hall I’m going to the gym. Sunday will be my rest day. I’m getting in my 6 days of exercise a week for Lent.

Shelley - Hidden Figures is one of my favorite movies and I’ve watched it multiple times. The ladies who played the roles of the “NASA “computers” were marvelous. In fact the movie was on last week and I watched it again.

Chris - I’m still trying to decide when I’ll startmy SS. I originally planned to wait as long as possible as well. But I’ve got growing concern over this administration and Congress and their plans for SS. I may start it sooner rather than later. But not sure yet.

Karen - enjoy your dinner tonight. I love Italian...my favorite cuisine bar none. I do the same when I plan to eat out and want to enjoy my meal. I’ll fast or eat very light during the day and get in a workout.

    Enjoy your weekend ladies!

Went to Kaiser and had my hip xrayed for the 10th, Pat had blood drawn and we were home within an hour. It was great!! So fast! Nothing more scheduled for today except reading and coffee!

Karen - have fun with your family tonight. I'm hoping Sara, Pete, Ronan and Bean will come over the 14th and spend some time with us. My 70th b'day if the 12th. That's kinda hard to say...70...EGADS!!! I'm going to ask them to think about it.

Kathy - yeah, you never know what's going to happen to any of the $$ we put aside for retirement. So far we have been pretty lucky. I'm going to put the SS $$ in the education savings account we set up for Sara and Nick. It has come in real handy for Sara's Admin Credentials. So glad we set it up. What seems more complicated is drawing from my 403b. Starting this year, I can wait until I'm 72, so I'm not going to think about it any more. Our tax lady said she would help me with it.

Shelley - Do you have to work weekends? When Pat was first in water treatment and did 12 hour shifts, a lot of time they ran over into the weekends. It was hard when the kids were little. We did it tho. I tell Pat that it's not my memory failing, it's just I have so much in my brain it's hard to find stuff when I need it. :D Or I can just blame it on the pain meds they have me on. :# I hate when I am searching for a word and can't find it. At least I know where I stashed my peppermint!!

Have a great Saturday, my friends.

    Chris
