Hello all,
I've been absent for a long while now, probably a year or so? Maybe more... And I've been eating too freely. I don't even know when I stopped, or made the conscious decision to stop eating the keto way of life. It's always been some pizza here, a piece of cake there, oh look, sushi! But carbs have wormed their way back into my life.
Anyway, I'm back to tracking my macros, eating clean, and getting fat adapted. I only weigh in once a month, the last day of the month, because I get too discouraged if I weigh each week and see no results. I'm in this for fat loss and plan on also measuring my body.
I wish us all good luck and happiness.5 -
@xDaniDragonflyx I admire your restraint with weighing! Hope it goes well and welcome back!3
-
Thank you @Chinatowninchina and @KayB2020. You guys are right! I am happy with any loss. And, I have been doing measurements monthly, and those were great this month. It's a good reminder that I need to be mindful to focus on the bigger picture!2

Dani D. good to see you back too. I am so happy to see old friends return. I too floundered for well over a year pretending to do keto and letting carbs and other bad choices sneak into life. The truth is, it is hard to lose weight and sustain it. This forum has helped me stay accountable during my floundering times.
My keto friends (old and new) on this thread have also given me inspiration and guidance to get the needle moving in the right direction. It is great to see, old friends like you, back! We can do this!

Hey Sarag78, I too have been a master of the art of plateaus. I have suffered through many long stalls in my keto journey. Although most of my stalls could be attributed to self-inflicted wounds like poor discipline or bad choices, some have been by what seemed to me no fault of my own. Sometimes I’ve had to ignore the scale/measurements and rely on Non-Scale Victories (NSVs) to stay motivated.
For example, I used to have elephant skin on my elbows, knees and heals. Because of my love for this high fat diet, human skin has returned to those problem areas. Keto has blessed me with many other NSVs and I’ll bet the same is true for you. Sometimes the scale doesn’t tell the whole story. Hang in there Sarag. Look to NSVs when your scale isn’t cooperating with your efforts.

@stormywxs288 & @KayB2020 Thank you so much for the kind words! This is why it feels so good to be in this group with all of you folks!2
-
Thank you @stormywxs288. That is a good reminder. You are so right. I do feel so much better overall. Less tired, less headaches, less digestive issues. And, the measurements are showing what the scale isn't. But, I have always been a scale slave, and it just gets so frustrating. It helps though, to hear that we all have the bouncy scale experience, and the long stalls.0

Hey guys! I’m new to Keto and I would like to join your challenge to keep myself accountable. Please let me know what I need to do. FYI-today is day 1 so from what I’ve ready, I’m in for a tough few days. Any advice is greatly appreciated!1
-
@tinafortenberry Welcome to the Monthly Challenge. All you need to do is weigh yourself and post your weight each week, generally we do Sundays. Also there's a Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet you can add yourself to that to if you want to keep track of your weight that way as well.
Actually you shouldn't have a tough few days. Always remember to keep your salts up and that should stop any Keto 'flu'. After a few days you will start to naturally not feel hungry as you will be eating more fats. That's the odd thing to start with, as your mind needs to adjust to years of training about low fat and start to look at proper healthy fats such as olive oil, butter and cream as your friends. Good luck and enjoy!

Hello everyone. I'm Jaresa, 30 yrs old, live in Ohio and I am new to the group and KETO as well. I've been doing lower carb meals, kind of easing my way into it. First just practicing making healthier choices and cooking at home more. I'm looking forward to starting a 100% Keto diet really soon. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now. I've made a reward kit for every mile stone. Losing 5 pounds, doing 100% KETO for 5 days straight, no straying (sugar/carbs), etc. I hope this helps me stay focused. My goal is to lose 80 pounds.
Starting weight was 230 Ibs
Current weight is 225.1 Ibs
Goat weight is 150 Ibs4 -
@tinafortenberry : Water, Water, Water!!!!!! Seriously, make sure you are drinking at least a gallon a day. More if you have kidney issues. Plus it will help you feel less hungry/snacky. Mio electrolytes flavors are a great way to get more water in, while also keeping that keto flu at bay.0

@jaresaross07 welcome and good luck. Make your mental goals smaller by the way than your long term one, concentrate on the first 10, you are almost there, then head for another. It makes it easier........1

Stay safe

When I do keto right, good things happen to me. I get sharper memory, better mood, smoother skin, clearer thinking and so many other Non-Scale Victories (NSVs) I can’t list them all. A friend on this thread reminded me that I too am a “scale slave”. I get so focused on that one measurement; I overlook the good things like NSVs keto gives me.
Here’s my latest NSV; I’ve stopped snoring. You’d have to check with my wife to confirm this, but I can tell you I haven’ woken myself up snoring and I haven’ had a raw throat in the morning for weeks now. That is probably a Too Much Information Non-Scale Victory (TMINSV). I have lots of TMINSVs too. Lucky for you, I won’t be sharing many of those on this forum.
My scale victory today is a loss of 4.6 pounds this week. After being stalled for over a year doing 18/6 Intermittent Fasting (IF) and sloppy keto, I’ve turned it up a notch by doing Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) and clean keto for the last two weeks. The needle is moving in the right direction for me again.
However, I’m not sure ADF is sustainable for me and I’m not recommending it to anyone? I’m thinking ADF will work to get me to my goals and I can use it for maintenance once I achieve goals. I can’t see the 36- hour fasts I’ve been doing as a part of my regular keto Way Of Existing (WOE). On the other hand, I keto, and keto is my WOE.

So here it goes. I’ve just started Keto and feel like I’ve done pretty good. Of course it has only been a few days so I will post my starting weight today. I’m doing better than I thought I would. I haven’t really had any major cravings. I hope it stays that way.

I hope everyone had a great week!
I did very well all week and then went way over what I should have on Mothers Day. I am choosing to not let that mess with my head and I am back on track today. Event though I know better, I get frustrated that I don't see the quick results (even on Keto) that I did when I was younger. I am choosing to not let that get to me as well, because that is no excuse. (I have a lot of excuses in my mind!)

Too many bad carbs this week. I’m talking sugary, starchy carbs I know I should avoid. It is like I’m a carboholic. Once I start, I end up binging or over doing and telling myself I’ll be better tomorrow. So, tomorrow starts today. Only keto friendly carbs that fit with my keto way of existing will find their way onto my plate this week.
