WELCOME to all walkers!
May is here! And time to start a another new monthly challenge! Surely beautiful flowers and spring are finally here! You know.... April showers bringing all of those beautiful May flowers that we looked forward to last month. Hopefully we shall have some extra sunshine to brighten our days, as well as our outdoor walks
This group is open to any and all walkers. Many of us use Leslie Sansone as well as other favorite instructor's walking or workout DVDs, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, or on the treadmill. All of these many options count toward our miles, steps, or minutes.
However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Whenever you are posting what you have accomplished please remember to also share any strength training or other types of workouts that you are doing. We all benefit greatly by learning from one another and getting new ideas.
We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!
The goal that you choose is your own personal goal for this month 👟📅.
If you find this group in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you hope to accomplish during the remaining days of this month. It is never too late to join in , you are always welcome!
Let's tie up our shoes and get some water, and walk strong, together 😃😉😄, because....
Together we can do this....

This is my first full month and I am ready to shake off the worry-induced sloth. I commit to meeting my 10,000 step goal plus 30 minutes of intentional exercise (strength or cardio or a mixture) every day. I have the time, I have the ability and I have no excuse not to do this.
How’s everyone doing? Our little flowerbeds are starting to look nice 🌹🌸🌼🌷3 -
My first month as well. I commit to 12,000 steps a day. As well, I will do a Leslie Video a day or walk outside for 1 brisk hour. I put a big X on the calendar when I do this and keeping the chain of X’s unbroken is a visual motivator each day.
Beautiful weather here in Victoria British Columbia.3 -
Last month I hit 90 so I think that will be my goal for May.
This weekend is looking very nice for some outside activity. So time to finish up some yard work and maybe get some flowers now that the greenhouses are open.
Goals:
90 miles tracked
Apple Watch: close all 3 rings 4 times.3 -
May 1- walked 40 minutes to a coffee kiosk and 40 minutes back home- beautiful day. 15,347 steps. Good start to may😎3

Well March and April were a mess weren't they!!! :grumble: I am struggling with the same thing as @texasgardnr-I have a tendency toward isolation and dealing with things by myself when things go badly or are unusually stressful. Especially now with the mandated isolation because of the stay at home and 'social distancing' because of the pandemic situation
I feel like I have internalized so much stress from the amount of support my students needed in my classes that went online that I am now immobile! I keep waiting for the next disaster email or Zoom request! The semester ended yesterday and my inbox is empty and I am not totally sure what to do! My husband says it is PTSD and I'll get over in a couple of weeks! Spoken like a true man!
I have no idea if this is going to work or not, but I am planning to go back to miles this month because time alone obviously does not work for me. :frown: I want to go back to 3 miles a day with Leslie, outside walks or just getting 3 miles on the Garmin! I am getting close to the coronavirus 10 lb weight gain and that is not going to happen!!! So, 3 miles a day it is! In addition, I am going to take a page out of texasgardnr's book and post here every day, whether it has been a good day or not. I need a break from classes before summer semester begins!
May-Goal 3 miles/day or 93 miles/month + post everyday!
5/1-Vivofit 1.9 miles=1.9 miles total (not the greatest start in the world  )
Walk Strong Everyone!

I am at 17 miles so far for May. I foolishly entered a virtual”race” across Tennessee that goes to Sept 1—1000 km. Leslie is ideal for my indoor exercise since most of the workouts give you mileage.
I hope everyone is doing well. Walk on!3 -
I am going to start small and aim for 50 miles for the month of May!!!2

May 2
- 3 mile walk Pilates inspired. Really enjoyed Leslie’s Pilates tips, very good for posture.
- 13,397 steps.1 -
Hope it's ok to just jump in, again, after many starts & stopping...
Today, I started back to exercise by doing the following:
Richard Simmon's Blast off (20 minute workout).Yes, a real oldie! I doubt that I'll do that one, again.
I plan to use one of Leslie Sansone's next.
I'm starting back slowly.
I also did some back exercises & calisthenics.

May 3/20 1.5 miles!!1

Hi Walker Friends! I've been thinking about my May goals because this month will be different for me. I'm back to work tomorrow and our work spaces and schedules have changed due to COVID19 which will impact the times and my ability to walk on my breaks. This means more time will have to be spent getting the walks in before or after work, yet I'm also determined to keep a better sleep schedule as well, so I am not going to go crazy trying to get miles in at the sacrifice of things like sleep, meditation, cooking and general sanity.
So with all that being (unnecessarily) said, I will aim for 125 miles this month which is about 4 miles a day, knowing some days will be better than others. Plus daily strength.
May Goal: 125 miles + daily strength
May 1: 5 Miles + 15 min Jessica Smith strength lower body glutes & thighs (wow did this burn!)
May 2: 6 Miles ~ 3 of 5 Really Big Miles + 2 Miles WATP + 20 min HASfit arms with dumbbells
May 3: 5 Miles ~ 1 Mile Brisk Walk + 4 Mile Walk (no Leslie, just a walk) + 35 min HASfit legs, glutes & thighs
16 of 125 miles2 -
@Ringbearer2 and @bacpath, welcome to your first full month! And you both have a great goals!!
@Ringbearer2, definitely very awesome, and definitely not foolish at all, to have entered a virtual”race” across Tennessee! You go girl 🏃♀️
@bacpath "40 minutes to a coffee kiosk and 40 minutes back home" is win - win
@Deeder522, I hope that you were able to get some flowers for your garden 🌸.
@zichab, I like your plan! I read your post and decided that I need to post tonight even if it is way too late! Cheering you on 💖 .
@wtbarunner, I'm glad that you joined in here! Excellent goal 😀!!
@Elbee1, so glad to see you jumping back in here this month!! Richard Simmon's Blast Off must've been a true blast from the past
@VeggieGirlforLife, looks like you are feeling better since your are able to add back in your daily strength again 🏋️♀️💪!! Good for you!! I hope all goes well for you tomorrow with all the changes at work now, especially being back to work again.

My Garmin site says I am already over 3 miles today, so I am excited to work out and post tomorrow! :drinker:Ringbearer2 wrote: »I am at 17 miles so far for May. @VeggieGirlforLife- Be safe when going back to work. Honestly, bless all of you who have to go back to work in a building. I do not even like going into the grocery store.Last month I hit 90 so I think that will be my goal for May.

Oh my gosh @texasgardnr -you were up late!!! I need to post everyday to get back into feeling the joy of managing stress. The last 2 months have been extremely hard for me. I feel so bad for you that your foot is keeping you from doing your walks. However, you have your garden and as those flowers start growing, that will make your heart happy. Hang in there.
Walk Strong Everyone! :bigsmile:2 -

Oh my gosh, I have logged in 2 days in a row and I have not seen 4 miles total in one day since April 1!! :drinker: My poor Garmin is so stressed it said "Your Battery is Low!" It has not had much to do for most of March and April and 2 days of walking killed it!

Powered Up the Garmin and we are back in business! :drinker: I am finally on track to meet my goal for the first time in 3 months! Considering the world we are in right now, I suppose I should not jinx it, but I am calling this a little victory! Even though we are supposed to get high winds, cold temps and snow :noway: this weekend into Monday, the trees are all turning green, the mowed grass smells divine and the Forsythia are in full yellow bloom. Nature is moving forward even if we humans are stuck in place at the moment! Thankfully, we have Leslie to move us forward with our health goals!

Belly blasting 3 mile walk and core, back and abs workout. I really enjoyed it. When I decide on my favourites and purchase digital copies instead of the monthly pass, this will definitely be one of the buys! 15,315 steps.
A little sore today- May have to call it a rest day 😎. Health and safety everyone.1 -

Thank you Ann! It is good to be back! I am feeling so much better and it has really only been 4 days of working out. It is amazing to be honest.@zichab : I can't ever recall the possibility of snow in MAY!!! Our tulips have opened up and the trees are slowing turning green.
 I KNOW!!! What is it with MI and snow! I suppose we should be grateful we did not get the number of snowstorms we got last year, but Geez, MAY???? :noway: We are also confined to home for another 2 weeks!!! How am I supposed to move if I can't leave this house! I think the Governor wants me to stay in MI Meh at least we have pretty trees and flowers to look at.
