At the first of 2020 I decided o wanted to run a half marathon in Luxembourg. I thought it would help me with making and sticking to my plans.
The race I signed up was scheduled for this month but was cancelled in March. I ran it anyways! This afternoon I ran 13.1 miles through (and beyond) my neighborhood. I’m feeling strong and sore.!9 -

Good week. I have taken up gardening. Had to buy some pots and get some soil. Borrowed some gardening tools. Will plant peppers, Tomatoes and spices. I’ll start clearing out the tiny patch of grass this week.

@Steph1498 Congrats on running a half marathon! That's amazing! Was that your first? Is that what you did on 5/20 for nearly 30,000 steps in one day? You're doing phenomenal work!😄😄7 -
I posted my weigh in today, but I don't see it now.

Hi everyone! Just a quick check in. I was so happy to take a walk today. I may have had a delicious strawberry margarita this afternoon. 🍓 Back on it tomorrow.
Congratulations to all our losers.6 -
@steph1498 Wow, Wow, Wow! That is so amazing. That is a huge goal that took a ton of time and dedication. Way to go for seeing it through even after the race was canceled. That had to be a tough moment to find out your race was canceled. Way to turn the situation into a positive!3

Today went better than yesterday as far as the energy level goes. It's almost that time of the month which likely is responsible for being tired and craving carbs and sugar. Got in an hour and 40 minutes of walking today, hooray! I just had coffee for breakfast. Lunch was a huge ceasar salad with chopped up chicken and homemade cutouts. I love creamy salad dressing like ceasar. I always dilute my creamy dressing with water and red wine vinegar and whisk it up. It's like having double the dressing at half the calories and it spreads better. My kids slept overnight at grandma's house. I made coffee for my husband and I and we went for a walk in the woods and had a little bonfire. He really wanted to Bbq steaks tonight. I had half of mine and will make beef broccoli with the leftovers tomorrow. I had dessert too but didn't get too crazy with the calories. It was a fun night and nice to spend time with my husband without kids.
I met my goal to not eat my exercise calories 3 days a week again. This week I want to work on desserts. I really have been thinking about redefining what dessert is in our house. I would like to shift more towards fruit. The other night we made whipped cream and served it on top of fresh berries with mini chocolate chips sprinkled on top. It was a big hit. So something along those lines. If you have any ideas I would love to hear about them.5 -

I had a busy day in the yard. And then tried to do a Pilates PVR when I got back in but my legs said that was too much! Sciatic nerve was on fire in both legs so didn't get it finished. Heading to the hot tub to soothe my aches and star gaze.
Happy Memorial Day tomorrow to all of you south of the 49th!4 -
Today's weigh in I think I have to stick with my 214lbs and start fresh next month 🥺

Can we beat our total steps and reporting percentage for the last week of May? I KNOW we can do it!! Let's go team!!!2 -

Kristi, I love your description of making time for you and your husband and the fun time you spend together. My children are adults, but that is one of the BEST things you can do for a marriage while raising children, making time for yourselves as a couple. Your love shines through so clearly to me. What a wonderful thing!!
I think I need to rethink desserts as well. So I am all ears for suggestions. The past few weeks I have seen the scale creep up. Not sure all of it is fat, but rather holding on to fluids because of injury and salt. I feel stronger and more fit, but still the scale moves up. That cannot continue.
I do have dessert regularly. It's kind of our 9 o'clock thing. I know. Bad idea. Ice cream is the norm. But I think I may put that on hold. I have been having a dermatitis outbreak around my nose (very unusual for me). We were out of ice cream (among many other things like lettuce) for most of last week and it started to clear up. Yesterday, we went shopping and restocked. I had ice cream last night. Today, my dermatitis is acting up. Good thing we are wearing masks! LOL Anyway, my point is I need to make adjustments like you. I just bought a watermelon, so I think that will probably be my dessert this week or maybe I'll make some variation of fruit sorbet or fruit smoothie. I'll just pretend it's my frozen strawberry margarita.
We had many inches of rain last night and thunderstorms predicted for today, so hopefully I can get in a walk. If not, I need to do it here at home.
Goals for today:
8.5K steps
Drink 80 ounces water
Get at least 15 minutes of active minutes
Log all food
Stay under calorie goal
No ice cream!5 -

There’s a huge bumble bee hanging out with me on the small porch. It’s funny because the last place we lived (30-minutes away) had one that visited on cloudy days (or evening time) and would crawl into the folds of a blanket. It did that through the fall. Never found a dead one so not sure where it wintered.
At any rate, I’ve been wildly distracted and missing writing & reading Waistaways’ entries. My goal this week is to write every day and get my steps in more quickly. I missed last week so will do them this week for sure.
I’m struggling with communication with my adult daughters. When sharing experiences and misunderstandings it’s apparently my “job” to just listen, pause, and reflect. If I speak too soon about my side of things, I’m being “defensive...it’s better to understand than to be understood...” OK, so, at what point do I have the chance to share my part? I’m encouraged to “take up my space and be proud” while also remembering the “Four Agreements” (“...it’s not personal”).
WTH
I’m sick of parenting strong thinkers. I call them other things sometimes, but will refrain here. I’m sure y’all understand!
I’m going for a walk now.
Back soon.3
