I need to get another watermelon, Magic. Was sad when I finished off the last one because it was so good! Sounds like a good day for you and yay for your Friday!

Still sticking to my very simple, very WFPB habits. Still not eating breakfast and don't seem to have any particular cravings at all which is nice. Had a big (3 cup) container of leftover cooked veggies and an apple for lunch, having a big ol' salad for dinner. I added chickpeas to my salad and will also eat a few Mary's Gone Crackers and a sumo mandarin. If I'm hungry later an almond milk yogurt.

I hope you all are having a good day!

Hey girls...off to Sprouts in a few...I have mushrooms to use and a tub of spinach...so I will pick up a zucchini and make pasta sauce...onions, mushrooms and zucchini in the sauce...pour sauce over a bed of pasta (be care to measure as not to over do...I could eat a pound ... I really could...but will keep it to three ounces dry...two ounces is just so little, if you ask me.

I am getting back to losing after a huge spike...I have pretty much stopped with my oatmeal for brekky for awhile...juices and watermelon is what seems to be what I do crave. Salad for lunch.

If I didn't have that big tub of spinach that really needs to be used, I would opt for my Gardein burger...not in the mood for soups...and I need to make something I am familiar with so as to get it done and not fool around.

This is probably not making any sense, since I am just thinking out loud.

Question...my sister and her dh just returned from Houston (we live in AZ) ... my BIL had hip replacement and then they stayed with my niece and her DH for recovery...I just sent my sister a letter. She was thinking I would come over for dinner tomorrow night...tell me what you all think? Keep in mind, I ALREADY SEND THE EMAIL ...LOL

    ************************

So, I am just a tab bit concerned...

I do want to see you guys...and will definitely come by to drop off your stuff tomorrow...but I was thinking perhaps I should wait a couple weeks to hang with you guys, just to be on the safe side. I know you are healthy...but because of the flight, ...just want to be extra cautious...
    What do you think?

    Magic -- Happy "Saturday morning!"

For what it's worth, I think that's a pretty sensible response for you. (My teenager would completely disagree. He's ready for all this to be over and done!)

You know absolutely nothing about the status of the people on the airplane. And if they got on the airplane, all those passengers presumably spent time (2 hours?) in IAH, which is a huge airport -- likely less busy now, but still going to have had plenty of traffic with completely unknown people (some of whom might have traveled to go to a large social gathering, like a wedding or funeral). Another thing to think about is how long sister & BIL have been away from the hospital.
"Despite chatter about when the second wave of this pandemic will hit, the U.S. is still in the throes of the first wave." —Maggie Galehouse, Stat News, quoted in the Texas Medical Center May 11 Coronavirus Update
    https://www.tmc.edu/news/2020/05/coronavirus-connection-a-texas-medical-center-continuing-update/

I would then add, that this may or may not show up as a significant risk for your sister and BIL. Imaging myself in their shoes, the comfiest way to relate to that trip that they already took, is that it was a perfectly reasonable thing to do and not super risky. You likely don't want to argue with that.

I think that starting your email with wanting to see them was great. If you continue to be uncomfortable with connecting with people who just got off a flight (not, to me, an unreasonable concern), then you might try framing it up in terms of your own health situation (cancer survivor, etc.) and your own feelings -- concern for your health? gratitude for having gotten this far after your cancer battle? gratitude for their love and place in your life! -- whatever makes sense.

If everyone decides not to get together in person, maybe make something else happen -- maybe both of you cook dinner and dial in to a Zoom/video call to share dinner and conversation at a distance? maybe you stand in the driveway and she stands at the door and you talk (so social distance)?

I am sure, with your big heart and tour commitment to health, you will find something that continues to have your love for your family be present and also preserves your health.

Hi Ladies... Magic, I think that Austin's response was so perfect and lovely that I have nothing to add other than (properly socially distant) *hugs* :)

It was a rough day at work and I came home to a glass of wine. First time this month I went for the wine, but I only had one glass and then got busy with eating my salad, so I'll still count it as a decent WFPB day. Of course, I know that getting on the treadmill or taking the dog for a walk or popping in an exercise DVD, or even doing some housework or taking a nap, would be better. I opted for the glass of wine anyway.

Lunch was more of my wonderful leftover cooked veggies and an apple and 2 wasa bread crackers. Dinner was a big ol' salad although I decided to eat it in a sprouted grain wrap instead of like a regular salad. Made it feel more decadent.

Going to spend the rest of the evening reading, cup of nice herbal tea, early bedtime.

Will just make this quick...back later for more. Thank you both! Hugs dear ones <3

Sister was totally on board with my email...she is of the mindset of whatever I feel comfortable with. So that's great.

I ended up using the spinach for a batch of green juice. Today's menu:

    coffee
    carrot/orange juice
    watermelon
    big salad with quinoa
baked corn tortillas with homemade pico
    Gardein burger with the works
    more watermelon

    TEA.

    Later, my dear friends.

Hi All... Magic, I'm glad your sister is on board. Austin, great menu plan today.

I think I started a raw beet trend here. :)

Same menu today as yesterday for me. I am fine with eating pretty much same meals all week and maybe getting a bit more creative on weekends. If I remember by the weekend I want to make Dr. F's cabbage and kale casserole from the Quick & Easy cookbook. I really love that and haven't made it in a while.

Still have some work to do tonight so I need to keep moving!

Bought my 3rd and 4th watermelon today...YOU did that to me, Mihani. In love...they are the little pure hearts...so sweet. I slice em up and keep in my lock and lock and ready to go...anytime of day.

    What I ate today:

    coffee
    juice
    strawberries
pasta stew/soupy thing...pasta sauce with celery, carrots, onion, garlic, bell pepper, zucchini , I think that's it. Mushrooms were past due when I finally got to making this. I was going to put it on pasta, rice or potato...but it was good all by itself. Next time, will add spinach, but I had used it all for the juices.
corn tortillas made into chip in the air fryer with corn chile salsa
    watermelon
    big salad with quinoa

I worked on my bedroom yesterday...it's taking shape...looking good...my peaceful place once again.

Still lots to do in the house...but little by little I am getting there. Did not overdo, so I was able to walk today easily.

    Later, dollies.

    Hello, friends,

I am having a good plant-based food day. Did a bit of decluttering in the kitchen.

    Still to do today:
    - Cardio workout
    - About an hour on a project
    - Bit of decluttering in my office. Any little improvement will be a win.

Zooming onwards, but wanted to say hello!

    Morning all...Austin, l'm lovin the graphics...so original...and fun!

Up before the alarm...gathered my lunch and snack stuff...no oatmeal for some time now.

    Today, I am packing...

    Joe's Mean Green
    Watermelon
    salad with quinoa
    Italian vegetable soup/stew
    Carrot/Orange Juice

    Wishing everyone a safe day.

Oh yes, I came across a great Dr. Michael Klaper lecture in one of the Hippocrates gathering things...and now I can't find it. I do think it is recent...it was mid of the night last night ...need to find it...makes it all so easy on how to sustain this living, which we all know we will...but kinda a great reminder.

    Hey Magic!
I am glad you liked the graphic! That's a snippet from "Ponyo," a film by a filmmaker named Hayao Miyazaki. I put in a link to a trailer. Disney owns it, so it's a bit pricey to stream, but your library might have it, if you want to see something gorgeous and sweet (G-rated) (oh, and it has A-list Hollywood voice talent). Miyazaki also did a film called Kiki's Delivery Service, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. Anyway, lovely films to consider for when the library opens again!

Thanks for the Dr. Michael Klaper video! I just put that on my to-watch list.

I am listening, this morning, to an interview that Chef AJ recently did with Dr Joel Fuhrman. This is being a good one! In case you are interested: https://youtu.be/TBdjepbJ4Kk

    OAT WAFFLES!

A new way to get in your OATS, by Anne and Jane Esselstyn...I am so going to try these...only ingredients, oats, water, ground flax, vanilla and orange zest (if you wish). Top with blueberries or strawberries. Sounds wonderful, eh. I was getting pretty tired of oatmeal, to be honest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CSMorgl8SU

Hello all... been a busy couple days then I have been unbelievably lazy today. I haven't accomplished much at all today, but I did nothing in a rather energetic manner. I did just throw a couple Japanese sweet potatoes in the oven and will set up my salads and make salad dressing tonight. Tomorrow I will be working all day from home, with breaks to mow the lawn, do laundry, and some cleaning.

I don't think I've ever got tired of oatmeal, Magic! But I would like to try the oat waffles, except I don't have a waffle iron. I have been thinking about it. I see a lot of recipes for hash browns in a waffle maker and they look so pretty.

Hope your project is coming along, Austin.

    Happy Saturday, friends!

Magic, enjoy your waffles! There are so many ways to cook oatmeal. There's always something new to do with it! And waffles are magic. We have a standing thing in the family, where I cook waffles and put in various items as secret ingredients. Grated zucchini works well (just squeeze it some beforehand, so the waffles aren't too soggy). I think pureed raw greens would work, if you are not afraid of having green waffles. Savory works, too! It so happens I made cheese and scallion waffles for the guys for dinner last week (quarantine treat dinner for them -- chicken & waffles).

Mihani -- Maybe you try oat pancakes or scones? Here's a vegan oat scuffin (scone-muffin) recipe my son loves. For oat flour, I just put the oats in a blender for a minute. https://dreenaburton.com/berry-scuffins/ (Fruit is optional. Teenager prefer them plain.) Anyway, it's more oat tastiness, to waffle iron required!

Big items today so far have been doing a step aerobics workout, a live-streamed thing. It was just fun and cheering to be working out in a big group (Brazil, South Africa, all kinds of places), even though it was at home. Other big item was grocery shopping. I was to of some things and wanted to go, but think I will go back to weekday shopping after this (too many people, even some mask-less; guess I am pretty conservative).

Still got project work to do tonight, but going to eat dinner first! I got one big chunk done yesterday. Hoping to do one or two chunks tonight.

Busy day with work and housework. Still haven't managed to get out there and mow. I'll do it tomorrow as the neighbors are having some sort of gathering in their back yard and I think it would be kind of rude to go out and mow.

I am just taking a quick dinner break (leftover cauliflower curry from the freezer) then getting back to work for a couple hours before bed. Hope y'all are having a great day!

    Howdy, friends!
    Having a good ETL day!
    B-green smoothie, almond butter, gojis
L-turnips greens & garbanzos; mushrooms & carrots; steamed turnip & acorn squash; apple slices
    S-apple slices, almond butter
D-big salad, homemade dressing (variation of your mustard-y one, Mihani); steamed acorn & turnip plus some diced apple

Teenager ate almost all of the pineapple. I need to get another the next time I go to the store!

I just heard from a mom friend that she and the rest of her family have all been sick with The Virus for the last 2 weeks. They are on the mend, but it's a great reminder that the virus is indeed out there.

Okay, off to do cardio and then some project work!

P.S. Here's another fun graphic for you, Magic. Happy watermelon hunting!
    lm4h8tfft8gh.gif

P.P.S. While I had my usual salad tonight, I made a dinner for the guys that we could eat, too -- Boulangerie Beans and Potatoes. Sounds fancy, but can be super quick. Leaving out the butter would be no problem. My version tonight was made with pinto beans and Rotel (tomatoes & green chiles). It was a huge hit.

That looks like a fun recipe, Austin.

Magic, I need to grab another watermelon too. That last one was one of the best I've had.

I've been busy the past couple days preparing for the new windows to go in which happened yesterday. They will be back today to do the finish work. I haven't yet got it in my head that I can open and close any window I want, any time I want. It's an odd feeling!

Going to run to the store so I can be back before the window guys get here. I am low on hand soap which is more alarming than it used to be in the good old days of a few months ago.

I am sticking to my salads, fruit, beans, greens, and very limited nuts/seeds and starches. My weight doesn't seem to want to budge but trying to focus on the health benefits. The weight will start to drop again eventually.

LOVE the graphic, Austin! Mihani...you little watermelon girl, you! I now get anxious if there is no watermelon in my fridge! It really is the best hydration out there...besides water. I have always loved it...but now, I am OBSESSED!

My weight is not budging either...however, I, too, am focusing on my health right now. Mainly because if I don't I will become depressed. NO meds at my age, is rare...and I owe it all to our LIFESTYLE eating...I know I could tweak more here and there, but I guess I am not that driven at the moment. That's ok. That really is ok...as long as I feel as good as I do, I am just going to be OK WITH THAT...at least for now.

LOVE you guys. LOVE eating this way. I guess I owe it to my sad little arthritic knees for pushing me in this direction. I am still not ready for knee replacement and I had to find a way to at least, lessen the pain.

    Always a rainbow, eh?

    Later, my sweet peas! peapodsmiles.gifpeapodsmiles.gifpeapodsmiles.gif

    Hey, Magic --
NO meds at my age, is rare...

    This. This is AMAZING.

An older relative of mine (late 70s) had a fall in December, and as a result of all the support needed after that (two surgeries in two months; we are super lucky she got out of assisted living in January before COVID hit there), we ended up talking about how many meds she is on. I think the count is now TEN (she just added one; has like 5 different doctors). Much of what is going on would be worth working on with diet (inflammation issues, heart, blood pressure), but she likes the standard American diet and does not like to cook.

So. Please be sure and seriously celebrate not being on meds. I am super impressed and I hope to do as well!

And as far as the knees -- keep on doing! Keep up with the great diet! Keep experimenting, keep looking for ways to keep moving. Do you do much stretching? Miranda Esmonde-White's Essentrics system is pretty awesome -- super gentle and slow movements. You might be able to borrow something from her at the library (does your library do e-books?).

Anyway, color me inspired by you, Magic!

    Good morning, peeps!

Magic, thanks for the recommendation of Plant Pure Nation. I added it to my YouTube queue, and will give it a look.

YouTube recently suggested a short video I enjoyed, so sharing here. This might ber a good one to share with friends interested in WFPB. My son walked by and got interested.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjZUQb19fWg

Mihani - Congratulations on those new windows! I hope you are enjoying them!

My husband and I go walking many evenings, and our usual route has us walk over a creek that has me imagining living nearby so I could open the windows at night! At the time we go, fireflies are out and about. As we get closer to the creek, the sound can be amazing -- so many insects and frogs! It's like a choir. I'd love to hang out longer in the space of that sound.
    3iivn8wr2nsx.gif

I am out to have another good WFP day:
B-green smoothie (blueberries, spinach, broccoli), almond butter, gojis, fresh mango (the last one!)
L-turnips greens & garbanzos; mushrooms & carrots; steamed turnip & butternut squash; apple slices
    S-apple slices, almond butter
D-big salad including diced fresh beet (still on the fresh beet kick! thanks for having me try this, Mihani!), homemade dressing (avocado, cucumbers, green onion, dijon, etc); steamed acorn & turnip plus some diced apple

Plus project work (I am making progress in general, but did not yesterday -- today's a new day!)

    Cheers!

Windows are finished. I worked from home a couple days this week because that was going on, which was actually kind of nice. It seems like a really long time since I've worked a full week in the office. I enjoy working from home with silly sitcoms on for background noise or music going, just hanging out with my dog.

Thanks for the recommendations on the videos Austin and Magic.

Oh, got another watermelon yesterday and it's as good as the last one. I also made a pot of lentil soup and a simple lemon tahini salad dressing.
