Happy Tuesday, Friends!
My new fitness tracker arrived on Sunday night, so I've been able to track steps again since Monday!
13th July
Steps - 4159
Exercise - 29 minutes Total Body HIIT Cardio & Abs
And I hear you @jugar my diet is now under much stricter scrutiny. I have the exercise down pat now and it's a lovely habit, but I recognise that I need to be serious about what I fuel my body with!
Enjoy your day, Friends!5 -
Happy Tuesday!
I got a lovely phone call this morning from a friend my husband and I have not seen for several years. She works a lot in Africa with midwives and remote clinics (she is a nurse), but she's back in the area for a while. It will be wonderful to see her - hopefully the showers will stay away while she's visiting so we can sit outside in the beautiful breezes.
Glad to hear that you are in there sticking to it, and looking at your plans, revising as needed, and adjusting whatever isn't quite right. Get out there and make the day that is going to make you
Today's only weigh-in:

Okay thanks, I'm content with the free version, just wondered if I was missing out on anything.
I've had the free trial. I don't notice any significant difference between paid and unpaid. The paid version gives you some extra data around trends and micros and stuff but I never ended up using any of it.5 -

Thanks! Now I am sure to just keep ignoring those prompts and save my $4 -
It’s great to see all your words of encouragement! Amazing that we all have different statements for ourselves. So inspiring. 😊
My words are “love me”. It means that I need to make good decisions now for the current and future me.

The unfortunate thing about those words in my head-they usually concern follow-through. It's the negative voice of self-doubt manifested from the seeds of depression letting me know that they're still here to be managed. Still here to foil me somehow. Harumph.
I haven't been posting my steps this month - it's slipped away from me. I'll get back to regular walking soon and then being on the step team again.
I'm learning a lot about Social Justice and am in a book group for the next 3 Tuesdays reading, "So, you want to talk about race" by Ijeoma Oluo. It's a great resource - the audio book is really amazing with the author as narrator. We're in the process of rearranging parts of house so I'll be better organized by the time school starts at the end of August. Sheesh- that's almost a month away. Good lord!
Sleep well everyone.

Loving all the motivations phrases and affirmations. Studies show that positive self-talk is extremely effective in boosting mood and making healthy changes.
@eggfreak it was weird when I first started working in the office again, kinda felt like my first day all over again lol. But it was also really nice to feel a sense of normalcy. Enjoy your first day back!
We had another family birthday today, this time for my niece. It really is almost every month that we celebrate someone's bday, some months more than 1 lol. I had about 3/4 of a seafood enchilada, and skipped the taco/nachos and made a salad instead. I also skipped the ice cream. I did have a 1/2 piece of homemade cheesecake (homemade!) with freshly made whipped cream. I wasn't going to have any dessert but when I learned my sister made it all from scratch I decided to indulge a little. It was delicious, and with exercise I was able to fit it all into my calorie goal for the day.7 -
So migraines - are killing me ! I'm guessing they are migraines... Dr won't give me any answers and I'm annoyed and grumpy... Gotta find a new dr... anyway.. it's getting old... Yesterday was good, met all my goals, except the ice cream I had was 300 calories not 180, but it fit, so no biggie...
Lots of running around to do this evening... I don't like having plans after work, but what ya gonna do...
Have a wonderful day !5 -

Migraines are horrible, especially if they are so frequent - my daughter has this problem, and finally has a medication that works. She sleeps better too, and feels amazing. Send me a pm and I'll put you in touch if you want info on what it is.3 -
Haircut day! I'm just going to get it all chopped off this time. My first haircut once the salon re-opened I left it a bit longer than usual, but now I'm going back to "get this stuff off me!!" And then I just have to get over the exercise slump that has been coming and going.
I wish you all the best day - as @eggfreak reminded us - the time is now!5 -
Hello and happy Wednesday!
Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 13th anniversary! Woohoo. Kinda weird to not do our usual things that we always do since things are different right now. We took the opportunity to make a new tradition and snapped a selfie of us holding our wedding portrait. Such a fun way to look back and I think we will do it again maybe in 10 years. We did a 5 mile hikes and got our first milkshakes in about 5 months. The kids were at grandma's so we spent the night hiking around our property to check out the best views of the comet.
It was a great anniversary. We climbed mountains and chased stars. Plus the calories didn't count because my scale didn't go up this morning! phew.

Happy anniversary!!! Love your photo and I love that idea and may borrow it. Yesterday was my hubby ‘s birthday and tomorrow is our 37th anniversary (I had to stop and think a minute. Lol) We’ll be staying here at the house. Lol. #pandemiclife

I have that very book in my hands. Just starting it. Read the intro so far. Glad it was helpful and insightful.
Finally got a walk in early this morning. It was still hot. Baby is napping so I’m checking in. I did have wine and chocolate cake last night but that’s life. Hubby needs to be celebrated during this crazy weird time. Our schools will be remote to start this year. Our numbers are still climbing and it makes no sense to put kids back in a classroom. I’m glad she made that brave and caring decision. Lives over $.
Well, I better go get some water. Have you taken a drink lately? (Looking at you @Terytha 👀)
Make it great. Oh and @stephbomb2020 Love your quote. How accurate. 🥰
@Gidgitgoescrazy Hope you soon get relief from the migraine.
Now I gotta go because @evangsimmons170 is catching up to me. 😉 👟👟4 -
@conleywoods - happy anniversary! I love your double photo. And @micki48 - a birthday and an anniversary in the same week! How good is that? Enjoy it, even if you can't go anywhere.
Tally ho!3 -
@evelynladams527 and @micki48 I've just got that book too! Should be interesting reading. @conleywoods Happy Anniversary - you and your hubby look adorable!
Here's my update for yesterday:
14th July
Steps - 3190
Exercise - 44 mins - Total Body HIIT Cardio & Abs (with weights)
Night night!5 -
Sounds like there is lots of celebrating going on! So happy anniversaries and birthdays and anything else worth toasting!
Looks like I missed updating yesterday. So Tuesday: Food = yes, Exercise = no. Wednesday: Food = yes, Exercise = yes.
And I think I get bonus marks today for having to change a flat tire on my way to the gym this morning. I already had the car all jacked up before a Good Samaritan stopped and helped me finish the job. And I was only 20 minutes late for my session.5 -
Hi, hope you are all healthy and safe.
Test results came back negative. No covid around here. Will keep low until we clear the 14 days just incase its a false negative.
Haven't been 100% into weight loss the last few weeks but I am 100% back. Hoping to show a loss on Saturday. Fingers cross.

So glad to hear that, Vera! Hope you have a great week and stay healthy.
@Terytha Good for you getting your water 💦 on track.
After Jules left today (they didn’t stay for dinner) we scooted put to drop recycling and grocery shop. We now have to do it in the evening since I don’t want to take the baby out.
My steps are great today. Didn’t blow my CI even though we shopped before dinner and I was starving. I closed out my log for today and didn’t eat back all my calories. I’d say that’s a win. 🤗

@micki48 - that sounds like a great win! It is so hard to grocery shop when you are starving - and you closed in good balance! Yes!
I had a good win today too. I was REALLY hungry before dinner-making time and even though steps were going well, I had not done anything more. So I put together a 30 minute circuit of kettlebells and bodyweight exercises that also included some core and stretching - an all arounder. Of course, then it was time to get to some serious food prep, and when I am that hungry I crave grains, even though they are not really my friends. They speed my pulse way up and make me feel weird. So instead of grains, I made a 2 oz. helping of red lentil pasta and put it in my skillet of veggies and fresh herbs, topping it off with a bit of fresh parmesan at the end. The red lentil pasta is wonderfully filling, has plenty of protein and fibre, and I feel good and full without the grain effect. I also don't crave to keep eating with the lentil or chickpea pastas. They are wonderful to have on hand if you have not ever tried them. Then I still had enough calories left for a nice helping of sorbet - strawberries and mango this time. Soon enough black currants to make my fave of the year
Does anyone else have a great substitute for a less healthy food that is both satisfying and less damaging to the calorie tally at the end of the day?3 -
Weigh-in update!

Wednesday: @evelynladams527 and @eggfreak

@mathewsfive Great news on the negative test results. Such a relief. It can be hard to maintain that motivation over time but you will find it and get going again!
@jugar Very nice workout indeed! I have been really interested in the lentils and chickpea pasta. I will have to give it a try. Right now I have stocked up on cauliflower rice and zoodles so I can eat a lot and not kill the calorie budget.
@micki48 and @terytha sounds like life has been busy for you! Hang in there.2 -

@jugar, weigh ins are Thurs.
PW 157.5
CW 150.5
LTD 42.5
Never had a drop like that before. Clearly there must have been some water retention or something going on with the PW, also had a bad eating stretch and maybe something kicked my metabolism back into losing gear. I solved my scale issues a few weeks back by finding one tile square that was consistent in all directions and have been using that for the last few weigh ins so it's not my scale. I could feel something had changed and tried on my goal jeans last night and it wasn't any struggle.
Going back to my soup making/freezing and knowing just how many calories/cup. Easy to grab and...if I need a boost to make it more satisfying...I'm going to try adding some of that red lentil pasta - a little 'healthy' sausage is a good add too, and both make it possible to 'beef' up a single bowl for a family member who's not working on their weight. Soup? in summer?...woke up to a beautiful 62 degrees (17 C) so maybe that's making me think of Martha Stewart's Vegetable/Bean soup - so healthy and easy to make AND delicious. https://www.marthastewart.com/868518/vegetable-bean-soup
You all have a healthy day!

You mean we'll both be uber-short at the same time? That's fun! I cut mine off to give to the Locks of Love program (they make wigs for children who have lost their hair for whatever health reason). I haven't sent it, yet, but plan to today.
I'll post a picture if I can - you post one, too!
Thanks for touching base about exercise / emotional slumps. It's a better day.
