So how did you do last month? Any new tasty heart healthy recipes?
Here is my new favorite. Ingredients: About 4 red potatoes, virgin oil
Fines herbes and about half teaspoon of sea salt.
Clean potatoes and cook with skins on in microwave until tender.
Cut up into wedges or bite size chunks. Toss in enough oil to just barely coat, about one tablespoon. Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with herbes and salt to lightly coat. Place in oven and broil until just brown. They should just begin to brown so they are starting to dry and crisp on the outside. Experiment with it to suit your tastes and family size.

My mom came home on Thursday. Then on Friday morning her was complaining that there was not enough room in her for her heart and was having difficulty breathing. Called for an ambulance to transport her to the ER. I followed and spent most of the day there with her. She had fluid built up around her heart and lungs. They got her stable again and home she came. She now has another med to take. She did really well today for almost one week post stroke. Seems very promising.
Thanks for all the kind thoghts.
.I have not been weighing in. I will do it in the morning.

Hope your mom continues to recover, Shelley. Sending good thoughts.
I am not writing down my weight yet...maybe next week.
Going to read now.

Shelley,
So glad to hear your mom is doing better. Sending a steady stream of prayers and good wishes.
Love you,
Paula1 -
Tuesday 178.5; hopefully the 180's are totally in the rearview mirror forever now.
Paula2 -
Will weigh in Friday morning. Ron and I get home from Destin Thursday. We decided to drive there and socially distance in a private Condo on a private beach for his birthday. In the mornings we have the beach pretty much to ourselves and by 12:00-1:00 we’re back inside when the young folks get up and come out. We brought food with us and Ron runs out to pick up dinner. Not eating in restaurants. We’re being safe and it’s been great to get away. I was really tired from everything going on. Hope to have my parents moved in by late September/early October.
Shelley - sorry to hear about your mom. Sending prayers.
Paula - good to see you back and congrats on getting out of the 180s. I’m still trying to get out of the 190s again. Hopefully this month.
Chris and Karen - I hope you are both doing well!

Rough day...with the hurricane hitting the east coast...our basment flooded...a total loss. This is not the first time it happened...but we thought we had solved it. I'm sick to my stomach over it....waiting for a restoration company to come and rip the rugs out and cut the drywall....our very.
I had a bad feeling about this storm...
Karen2 -
Oh, man! Karen, I'm so sorry. I hope you are all safe.
Chris0 -
Karen, Wishing you the best and will be thinking about you! Take care!
Paula1 -
Oh no Karen. Otherwise I hope you and your family are safe. Sending prayers.
Kathy1 -
Hanging in there gals. Waiting for an adjuster and remediation company. So many with damage.
Thanks Gals!
Karen1 -
Where do you live, Karen? Is the storm gone from where you are now?
Chris0 -
Karen I feel awful for you. I have had my basement flooded also in the past. Heck our Paula lost her entire home! I am glad no-one was hurt. I know that sick feeling all to well.
Paula so glad to see you are still with us. I missed you so much.
Chris I hope you are reading something really good.
Kathy I saved you for last on purpose this time. I am so envious of your social distancing get away. But I am really glad you had a great time.
Mom has physical training tomorrow. She is so frustrated she can't see well. She has a real hard time reading of anything involving any social media, just seeing. She is always tiring herself out. I feel so helpless to help her. I hope tomorrow is a little better. I promised to take her to the mountain to watch the deer and hummingbirds this weekend. It is so peaceful up there.
I weighed myself this morning. 145.6. I am sure some of the loss is due to my mom's condition. But I will take it. Plus we are all eating healthier for mom.
Shelley0 -
Shelley - great idea to get Mom outside. Nature can be so rejuvenating...... And the bonus loss...Fantastic!

Thanks Karen. Last night she wanted Chinese food. So I told her as long as the restaurant was doing social distancing we could go in. It was. So we went inside. I sat her where she could see their fish tank. We ordered and she amazed me with how well she ate. We had a great time. And she was so happy to have gone. Then she tired herself out with a little walking. Watched tv for a bit and went to bed. Can't wait to see her progress by next week.
I have been trying to talk a co-worker into taking one of my saltwater tanks home. Maybe some time soon I will be down a tank. I will miss it a lot. But truly my living room would be better off with one less tank. And this guy is young and likes fish. He has a fresh water tank at work set up already.
Shelley1 -
Shelley, that is great news about your mom!
Paula1 -
Sending good thoughts for your mom, Shelley. Sounds like you guys had a party at the Chinese food place.
Karen how is your house doing? Did the guys finally get out there to check it out?

The painting crew comes on Thursday to remove the cabinet doors and preliminary work on painting the kitchen. The kitchen is the last job to complete before the folks move in. The trip to Destin was for a much needed rest and to celebrate Ron’s birthday. We were able to do both and be safe!
Sending good thoughts and prayers to everyone!

Hi Karen, How is your house? Did the hurricane actually hit your area or "just" the flooding? Hope you are feeling better.
Hi Shelley, Hope your mom is getting better and better.
Hi Kathy!! Long time no see. Working on my accountability too, it helps soooooo much! So sweet to see you and Ron are doing well.
Chris, I hope your foot?/joints? is/are doing better. My memory needs an upgrade.
I am vegging out hoping for knee to heal and for all my errands to do themselves. My soul is sipping on sunshine and gentle breezes.
Love to you all!
And as someone I deeply admire (Chris) once said:STRENGTH!

Paula, I sprained my ankle a while back. It healed, but I wore a compression sock too long. It messed with the top of my foot for some dumb reason. I hope your knee gets better. I don't like being grounded.
We are walking tomorrow even if I have to drag Patrick out of bed at 6:00 a.m.
Chris0 -
Chris it was a party! We had so much fun.
Karen I wish I could afford to have someone come in and take care of all the remodeling. I could really use someone with great taste to come in and give my place a facelift. You have done well for yourself. My biggest issue is the aquariums. Can't just move them for a bit to do the floors. Though I am considering tiling the living room if I do move them. That way I can just change out area rugs.
Paula if those errands get themselves done you must let me know your secret!I hope your knee is feeling a little better. And that both our memories get an upgrade.
I had a beautiful day. After fixing my mom and myself breakfast we drove up the mountain. Rocky was repurposing some of the lumber that had been a building when we bought the property. A small amount was worth keeping. He made a small deck and set of stairs for my mom. It was so nice of him. Then my daughter and her family joined us for dinner cooked over the fire pit. My daughter and I took off in our side by side to explore some dirt roads. Libby Lu came with us. Next time we will bring along equipment to tell where federal land is. The scenery was inspiring. Though she is a crazy driver! But in fairness she goes off roading all the time.
When we got back Rocky asked me to dig out a sliver from his thumb. I was shocked at how long it was. Sanara was holding her cell phones light so I could see and was also surprised to see it. I took a photo of the thing. I will post it tomorrow. Darn thing just kept coming. No wonder he was in pain. Lucky it did not break apart in his thumb. A couple of does came and teased the dogs. I roasted a marshmallow and had a cup of hot tea with my mom. She is doing better. Even knew what day it was most of the time. Night
Shelley1 -
Sounds like a great Saturday, Shelley. Glad you got the tree out of Rocky's thumb! Kind of spooky...
Looks like we'll get the boys tomorrow for a bit. Kids need to pick out paint for their bathrooms and don't want to take Ronan into Low's. It'll be fun. He'll work on his pre-school stuff w/Grandpa. I need to hide all his birthday stuff. He seems to find all my hiding places regardless where I put stuff...how does that work?
Going to drink coffee and read this afternoon.
Chris0 -
Chris maybe hide things in the garage. I limit going to stores to only those who need to be there. Kids don’t so good thinking on their part. Let me try to post a photo of the tree and the temporary deck.0

Hopefully they come through0

So there was a photo of Libby and one of Barney looking out the backyard. My mom supervising Rocky building. My mom enjoying the patio and the sliver I took out of Rocks thumb after he finished her steps. Phew that was a lot
Shelley0 -
Good work, Shelley! Your mom looks happy. The pups are cute. Rocky is doing good work and should put the tree on display on the mantel for everyone to see.
Chris1 -
She was doing what she loves. Sitting on the patio reading a mystery. If you blow it up you can see how huge her font is. Her sight is really off still.
Shelley0 -
She looks great, Shelley! And poor Rocky, wow! He's lucky you're part surgeon!

Shelley - Still waiting for an insurance adjuster to come .super nervous until I know for sure that it's covered. So many people had floods that were just waiting in line. Stressful for sure....fingers crossed!2
