Paula that is awful. I was watching the smoke in the sky from all the fires and telling my mom about how you were close to that. We both were hoping the best for you. We still are sending you well wishes that your home is safe and the fire dies out.
And I would have had a shake with that burger because I can be such a stress eater! Hugs to you both.

Hope you are okay, Paula. Sending you good thoughts. We found out Pat's brother in Boulder Creek had to evacuate, too.
Ronan turned 4 years old today! His new Ash hat and Pikachu shirt.
Getting his new Pikachu mug.
Realizing there is a Pikachu on both sides!! "Two Pikachus!! Two!!" ...his words...
It was a fun day! There will be lots more tomorrow.

They've evacuated 64,000 of us in the Santa Cruz Mountains. They only have 1,000 firefighters for 400 square miles. Looters are going into the abandoned areas. I hope they shoot their d*cks off. The motels are all full - during Covid 19 no less. Miss my scale, because I haven't been eating and it would be so nice to see the results.
Take care y'all

If you want to google-map it, my address is 351 Scenic Drive, La Honda, California. The range that has a complex of fires in it goes from:- Scotts Valley in the south (near Santa Cruz)
- up to La Honda in the north; and
- from the coast in the west,
- to Hwy 35, Skylind Drive at the top of the mountains on the east.

I hope everything is alright with your house and with where you are, Paula.
Nothing today, still too much smoke and ash. Went over to the kids to celebrate Ronan's b'day. They had a Drive By for his friends to come over and say "Happy Birthday" from their cars. We stayed for a while. Ordered sandwiches for lunch. Sara and Ronan made cupcakes. We have a new trike for him. They will come over tomorrow for dinner and we'll give it to him.

Paula, please be safe from both the fires and Covid. Scary times! I’m sending prayers your way for you and all Evacuees. People here in the south are worried about the two tropical storms tat will probably turn into hurricanes and possibly hit the Gulf of Mexico states.
Chris, happy birthday to Ronan. He is such a cutie pie! Makes me smile. Please take a picture when he gets his bike.
Shelley, I’m with you. It would have been a strawberry shake with that burger and fries.
The painter returned Saturday to install the cabinets. Of course there was a problem. The new hinges didn’t fit the same as the old ones so the cabinet doors would not close properly. He had to make a run to Lowe’s for magnets to make it work. He didn’t finish until about 9:00 and asked if he could come back tomorrow to finish his touch ups. What could I say? He was tired and he’s such a perfectionist. He’s coming today at 4:00 for last touches. I will be happy it’s finally over. It’s like a new kitchen. I’ll post a couple of pictures tomorrow.
Take care!

Paula sending you hugs. I hate looters! Crazy folks that think I'm finding the police forces is a good idea must know this is what will happen on a daily basis. Shooting looters sounds like a good idea to me. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I am sending well wishes to all of you. And especially those that are fighting to put out the fires.
Chris he is growing upright before our very eyes. What great expressions he has. Thanks for the beautiful photos. Drive by birthdays! Who would have guessed.
Kathy I really hope he makes the cabinets fit perfectly! You have worked so hard to be able to do this. If they do not fit perfectly have him do them over. You should not settle for less. I have and regretted it the entire time until I did it over again! And I think I am going to get that shake. Share size, bring your spoon! Hope those storms blow out!
So smoky here. Hurts my eyes and throat. Last night our television turned on mysteriously at 1 am. I got up quietly, armed myself and cleared my entire home. I just admit it felt "right". Strange but I felt like all my training was for that moment. I was not nervous at all. I knew exactly how to clear my home and go back to bed knowing it was safe to do so.

He makes me smile all the time.

Hi All,
It looks like the fires around us are becoming manageable.
Tracking food okay. But not getting much exercise - when you're sheltering in place in a hotel room, sitting on a bed, ain't much you can do.
Ronin is so darling, Chris. How wonderful.
Shelley, thanks for your thoughts, so nice to hear. I'm not at all surprised that your instincts are cool and calm when they kick in. I think of you as a protector.
Love all,
paula0 -
Sending you all positive vibes and wishes for a healthy day!

Kathy. 148 is a great goal. Don't be surprised that you want to go down just a little more after you reach it. That is where I bounce to.
I
Chris such a rare photo. Today's child on a rotary phone! Love it!
Paula I am so glad to hear that. I hope they were able to contain the looters also. Horrible when folks take advantage of this type of situation.
Trial ended last night. Guilty on both counts. Then he was found guilty on the habitual criminal part. Not sure I agreed with the second verdict. But they did not have all the evidence I had. I heard his attorney say they are appealing it. So that is good.
My mom is doing well. The physical therapy has her doing things she could not do before her stroke. Amazing!

Heading to the mountains for 2 days for some hiking, swimming and rest with social distancing;)

The evacuation was lifted and we packed and came home yesterday. I lost 5 pounds over the last week; packing and unpacking my 600 pounds rock crystal collection probably helped.
My knee also improved after a week of enforced bedrest. But the air quality here is the worst on the peninsula (there are still some controlled burns a few miles away), so no outdoor activity.
Would love to take a day off to get back to normal, but there isn't any normal nowadays.
Hope you all are doing well. Karen the mountains sound perfect!
paula1 -
Paula, glad you are home. Congrats! on the 5 pound loss! and the knee!! Sorry about the smoke.
Thanks, Shelley. He keeps it on the arm of the blue chair he's sitting in. When his dad came to pick him up yesterday, he picked it up and jibber-jabbered into it all the way down the hall to the bathroom. He used the bathroom, washed his hands, picked up the receiver and jibber-jabbered back to us, walked over to his chair and said, "Good bye." then hung it up on the arm of the chair. It was a riot!
Have fun Karen!
Chris2 -
Paula - yeah for the weight loss! Awesome!
Rainy here in the mountains....but we did get to swim in the outdoor pool. We may need to do the indoor pool today. They have a lot of fitness stuff here, but don't think we will be able to hike. Too steep and Bella's sprained ankle is still healing. So we play it by ear!
Happy Saturday!

Hi All,
Shelley, It must be frustrating to know stuff the jury can't be told. Wish the justice system had some automatic "get it right" button. Us humans are so fallible sometimes. But on the other hand, it is so wonderful/amazing that your mom is being fixed up Better than before. Yay yay yay!! :drinker:
Karen, Hope the peacefulness of the mountains seeps into your bones. It's a good thing. Who is Bella? Hope she feels well soon!
Chris, What a joy your grandchild is!!!!!!!!!
I lost another 1/2 pound. Feeling motivated.
paula1 -
Karen, I'm so sorry Bella sprained her ankle!! When did she do that?
Chris1 -
Okay, my post above got scrambled somehow. It's supposed to be:
. . . . . . . . . . Yay yay yay !! :drinker:
and
. . . . . . . . . . grandchild is such a joy
...oophf

The drinker isn't working - it looks fine in the preview, but not in the post. Trying again:

Bella sprained her ankle at camp. She tripped over tree roots ;( She's a lot better now. We did a short walk to the mineral springs on site....but too much rain and wet for a longer hike. We did do 40 mins in the gym here at the resort. Super clean and only a new people in it.
I did 30 min elliptical and 10 min weights.
Forgot my fitbit charger...and it will die soon!
Paula - like the drinker!

I didn’t make it to 189 but I didn’t gain. I’ll take the 2.6. It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I didn’t exercise as much. Dealing with a lot of stress. I’m sure everything will calm down after the move is finished.
Take care ladies!

So...my year hasn't been hard enough...sigh...I kicked a rise in the sidewalk while walking today and...well, the list is long...I cut my forehead on the nose piece of my sunglasses and scratched my face in a bunch of places, my right wrist is in pain because I tried to stop my fall, and my right knee is sooo angry! The top of my eye is really swollen and turned blue or black, my wrist has a good bruise on it and my knee hurts to touch it. EGADS!!! I was so full of myself when I left the house. I went out after Ronan was picked up, by myself. If Pat had been there we wouldn't have gone the way I went. I was taking the route I used to walk before he wanted to walk with me. That'll teach me. I've tripped before while walking...at least four time over many, many years, but never damaged myself like this. Icing everything now. Don't know how I'm going to feel in the morning. We'll see if we walk or not.
I just hope Sara, Pete and Ronan aren't freaked out in the morning. It's ugly.
Chris2 -
OMG Chris. That fall sounds ugly. Please take care of yourself! Pray there is no major injury. Yes, ice everything!
Kathy0 -
Chris- oh no! Hope you are okay!
Karen0 -
Chris,
I think I know how you feel. You'd think you never forgot how to walk; but it is so hard to simply put one foot in front of the other nowadays. Little imperfections in the ground rise up and grab my shoes, my balance is shot so down I go, and then my body can't catch itself because reaction rates are all in slow motion. Oopfh! Crash!
Hope you heal and feel better soon!!! Ice, anti-inflammatories, rest, sleep and time!
paula0 -
Thank you, my friends. Yeah, I'll be just fine. I'm just bummed that it's one thing after another with my old body these days. It's really easy to pass a mirror and not look. Sara saw my face for the first time this evening and said, "Oh, Mama!" I did text them a picture last night so they could prep Ronan for it, but it really changed from then until now. Hope to walk tomorrow morning.

Well today was a crazy day at work. I started my 1st phone call it's 7M and I just got off the phone now at about 8:30. Had a one hour break in between for dinner. Mamma Mia! Needless to say I did not get any exercise in today. I totally feel like a slug. Hoping for a better day tomorrow
also hoping to eat less carbs
