    @micki48 steps for Saturday were 11,514! Thanks for recording :)

    Ohhh, you were just 41 steps from 100,000 for the week. Oh my!

    Oh man don't even tell me that. Now I'll start paying attention to the weekly total!!

    Hello friends!
    It's amazing to read everyone's days and goals, so much inspiration here!

    So I have an interesting question: I have been running and swimming for awhile and noticed I tend to get a real energy rush after running, can get a crazy amount done those days, but feel exhausted/drained for the rest of the day after swimming. I was wondering why this might be. I work my hardest at both activities, and both last a similar length. I haven't changed my diet.
    Any insights?
    This is so interesting! I am not much of a swimmer, but when I do spend time in the water I am exhausted. I think it might have to do with the fact that you have to keep your body temperature UP while you're in the water at the same time as you work your muscles hard. When you run, you have to keep your temperature down by sweating, and the muscles are kept nice and warm, fed by well-warmed blood. I think the sweating and exercising thing is much easier to take than the keeping warm while exercising. Or maybe weight-bearing exercise is more energising? Who knows... It's an interesting question.

    Hi everyone! Glad to read all the wonderful posts. My daughter got her negative covid results today. I figured but happy to have that confirmed. So back to work tomorrow.

    Having tummy trouble since dinner tonight. I’m hoping it’s just gas. But this is the second time recently where I have eaten dinner and before I leave the table, I am having pain. Trying to figure out what the trigger is but not sure at this point.

    @Pearl4686 Very interesting observation and question. I don’t have an answer, but thought @jugar’s thoughts made sense.

    Hard to believe that tomorrow is October. What a strange year this has been. Need to make some goals for October.

    • 2 hikes
    •Pilates at least 3 days a week
    • Check In with my bff 3 days or more.
    • Meet step goal (9k) 5x or more days a week
    • use tracker
    • have a net loss for month

    Good morning and welcome to @krcapone78 and @coll7246. You'll find great support here. I found this group in January after a few of and on years of trying MFP and reading often that it's a help to find a buddy - well that's not so easy to pick an individual - happened upon this group with such amazing support and mindboggling spreadsheets : ). There's a few who meet up on Fitbit for walking challenges and that's fun and does prod me into taking those few more steps, feel free to join us. I've reached my walking goal every day during this 'workweek hustle' - likely I wouldn't have if not participating. It's amazing these little tricks for your mind - fitbit & mfp.
    I tried this last week to eat well without logging and I feel it worked okay, even though I had some cave-ins (but that bag of potato chips is now gone so I don't have to hear it whispering to me). It helps that it's my week in the office. In October, due to town hall being closed for early voting, I'll end up with a string of 3 weeks of working from home - must gear myself up for that to not eat poorly.
    @spyro88 the habit tracker is great...I think I'll try to jump on there again too for October, I've had a month of lapses and need to get that going again to help. Sounds like you have great motivation : )
    okay OCTOBER - here we come with all our new goals, motivation, inspiration and we are going to crush you - NO, no Halloween candy is going to enter this house!!

    This actually makes a lot of sense! I swim in open water and the temperature of the water this week was 13C. It did actually take my breath away for a few seconds. I never thought of it that way. I hope it burns extra calories :wink: thanks @jugar

    Hey team ! Happy October !
    I got up and did my 40 min video, and was late for work, because I got halfway through my morning meditation thing and hated it, so I played a different one...

    I started using my planner, remember the one where I gave myself stickers... Yup gonna use it and reward myself with stickers :blush:

    Todays goals are:
    Morning meditation from fitbit app ( DONE)
    40 Min video before work ( DONE)
    3 Round the block walks while at work
    The firm 30 video when I get home
    Earn my $3 (1/3 done)

    I was going to take one of the pupper to the park to walk after work, but turns out I was able to get the other pup a vet appt for this evening, she is having some inflammation on the tops of her back paws, so I think it's allergies, but I'll get her looked at to make sure, plus she needs her yearly heartworm test.

    Did you guys know fitbit has meditation bits on the app now.. I just found them yesterday, they are okay, I did find one that got on my nerves, but I've actually never used a meditation app so I really have no idea if it are good or not.. You get more if you sign up for premium, but they are offering a 90 day free trial, which takes you to the end of the year, so I told my hubby if I like this, he can buy premium for me as a Christmas gift.. LOL

    I know I wanted to say something else, but for the life of me I can't remember...

    Anyway Have a great day !

    @jugar you made me laugh! Had not considered training the dog to bark when opening frig but not a bad idea and doable. The dog is trained to speak. You certainly gave me a mental image so maybe I won't have the dog ratting me out.

    Woof!

    It's a beautiful morning, so before the clouds come back and the leaves all finish falling down, I'm going on a hike. Nothing too huge or long, but up a good little mountain to have fabulous views of the Coaticook gorge. I have to be careful going to Coaticook, though. There is an ice cream factory and a brewery there - across the road from one another! I'll try not to go by there...

    Have a great day - and keep those plans coming!

    @krcapone78 Welcome aboard! I think the Covid-19 situation has caused a lot of us to make some changes. You've come to the right place.

    @micki48 Good news on your daughter's test results.

    @spyro88 A baby journey...very exciting! Fingers crossed for you both.

    @Terytha Hoping your day ends better than it started. Hugs through my screen to you! And Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

    All these inspirational goals for October. Time to put on my thinking cap and make some changes since the last couple months have not been stellar for me.

    I made it! I had such a good time on my hike this morning that I did a second trail (in the same park) after finishing the first. Not too long, but a really spectacular view down a gorge from a scary pedestrian suspension bridge (the longest one in the world!). I really enjoyed just being out, walking, seeing somewhere new - I have lived in the same place for the past 30 years, and never yet went to this park that is only 20 minutes away. Glad I went. And I was alone on the trails the whole time!

    I find it easier to eat right when I have been more active, out of my usual routine, and breathing lots of good outdoor air. So today has been a good day all around. I wish I could share it with you @terytha ! You keep finding a few minutes here and there to enjoy, ok? And that dinner you are planning sounds delish.

    All right - time to gear up for the last 2 days of this month's challenge. Friday weigh-ins group:
    @deniners2
    @KellyBgetsFit
    @evangsimmons170
    @SMcFall0215
    @CanadianGiraffe
    @happimess01
    @Pearl4686
    @BaileyCat88
    @Steph1498
    @Kali225

    You have been adding up the losses every week - hopefully this Friday will be no exception!

    Took a mile walk with Juliet and my hubby today. Took about 25 minutes. She wanted to see Halloween decorations and we counted pumpkins on porches. Did my PT exercises while she napped.

    Food was so so. Had takeout here. SIL brought it over because my daughter was here with a terrible headache, probably a migraine and I continued to watch my granddaughter.

    I need to get about 600 more steps to hit my goal today.

    Welcome to all our new members. Glad to have you join us.

    @jugar your hike sounds wonderful.

    @Gidgitgoescrazy I love your calandra with stickers. I will definitely try the meditation.

    @spyro88 Wishing you all the best on your baby journey. How exciting!

    @Terytha How awful! Backed up sewer. Yuck! Hope tomorrow is brighter for you.

    Glad to hear from you all. Now I need to go get in those 600 steps before bed.

    @spyro88 I just went to the Tracker and noticed that you put your goals on the Downsizers tab instead of Waistaways. Just wanted you to know. We want you on our team. :)

    I have met my step goal for today, so yay! And I went and filled out my goals for the tracker which starts with our official October start on the 4th.

    @micki48 D'oh! I never was very good with spreadsheets - sorted now! The walk sounds fun. I am always a little envious that Halloween is so big in the US. We still have trick or treating and dressing up in the UK but it's not such a big event and much more for the kids... but I do love it ;)

    @Terthya Oh my gosh, what a rubbish time you are having of it. Well done on not comfort/ emotional eating. Hope that the allergies subside soon.. I know the feeling and it's really not fun!

    @YinxFed Awesome that you have put down some goals, I think it's been so hard with Covid, I know a lot of people who have become a bit agoraphobic and not without good reason! Good luck.

    good morning,
    @Terytha I hope you didn't lose any important things in your flooded basement. Hope the rash is better today too and you can focus on preparing for a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Ours comes later of course but you've put it in my head now, I might have to have a mini-T-day meal this month.
    @YinxFed Hope you get out for some good fall walks...One thing that drives me outside is knowing that, between the early dark and winter weather, we'll be cooped up soon enough. My dad especially, in a wheelchair. But we have enough room on our sidestreets to avoid close encounters with other people, you might have a denser neighborhood.
    @jugar Wish I could have joined you on that hike! Sounds fabulous!
    @micki48 and what is Juliet going to dress up as for Halloween? One of my favorite times of the year, no matter the commercialism (and candy!) around it. People get so creative with costumes & house decorations...fun to see. on the internet just yesterday I saw a GREAT costume for an infant..it was a baby in an octopus costume - she could just lay in this snuggly costume with 8 great big tentacles hanging around her. : )

    Eating seems back on track -easier of course, that I've been in the office this week. I find I do eat most of my snacks too early in the day but at least the vending machines are empty so I don't have that option. Was stress-driven to a glass of wine last night (and there was an already opened bottle) but blech, it didn't taste good and I tossed the whole glass and poured the rest of the bottle out - it hadn't gone off but was a 'buttery' chardonnay which is really not my thing. So no more open bottles, yay!

    Friday weigh in
    PW 88.6 kg
    CW: 90 kg
    I know weight fluctuations are normal but it's still so disheartening after trying so hard this week. In fact, weight was down mid-week and was so excited to weigh in, anticipating a nice drop!
    I was super careful with food and worked out every day. Urgh...now will have to struggle not to take out my frustration on chocolate!

    So made all my goals yesterday, took the pupper to the vet, she is apparently allergic to her food... so she gets to do an elimination diet... I am pretty sure it's the lamb though.. That bill sucked though... She has pet ins, so atleast all her allergy shots/tests for the rest of the year are covered... Didn't get to eat dinner until 7.30 - thats really late for me, I normally am done by 6... We picked up Mission BBQ on the way home, I don't know if you guys know that place, but they have really good smoked turkey, and I got a side salad to go with it. I normally get french fries, cause they have such good ones, but I was good and got a salad...

    This morning was 30 min video, and I will do 3 walks during the work day, then I will do some yoga when I get home.. Then I am relaxing this evening, I will find a mindless movie to watch and just chill...

    Tomorrow I am taking my daughter car test driving, she needs a new one, she is trying to get it together, she got a second job, and has stopped her partying ways a bit. So I am trying to be supportive of her, and not be such a nagging mother... After that Hubby and I are going to the sister in laws to help her plan the Halloween decorations, we are having a small party on Halloween with the family... We are even doing costumes, I am going to be the Mad Hatter, and my hubby will be the White Rabbit.. My GF is going as Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and her husband is going as a Taco... get it ? .... Together they are Taco Belle... I giggled so much when she told me that... I am not that creative... I just found a costume I liked, and then picked out what hubby could be to match... LOL

    I think before I meet her I will take the big pup to the park for a long walk, I will do it by myself, because I decided me time is good, I love my husband, but him not feeling well is taking a toll on my attitude, and they past few weekends I've been able to spend some time away from him (that isn't work) and it's been very helpful, so since I don't want to make plans to go away for the next few weeks, I'm thinking solo hike/walks will be just as good..

    Have a great weekend everyone !
