@cpanus - Holy Smokes Chris! That’s awful! I hope you heal quickly and that the knee is just a bruise.0
-
@cpanus:Oh how painful for you! As Janet said, the rainbow bruising is interesting and the more it heals the uglier it looks. I will keep you in prayer for quick healing. Those nasty rises in sidewalks have nearly put me on my face numerous times.
Speaking of pain, my hubby and I cut and dug out tree roots yesterday for 6 hours straight so that we could put in a French drain along my dad’s sidewalk. I could not pick up the pick axe or bucket of dirt by 6 pm. The concrete guy quoted us $700 and that included hauling the dirt away. We called him back Asked if we dug it, what would be the cost, and he was all over the board with it will be $150 to take the dirt. Well we don’t need the dirt taken away. Then it was about digging concrete and rocks so sit expensive and time consuming. We are only dealing with tree roots so far due to the monster tree we removed., but I will be darn if I am paying $700.00. We are down 12 inches with 6 to go. Back at it today.
Sept. 7: 7:55 miles of walking on top of digging

@Dean, @JTH11706, @clepant, Thank You so much for your kind thoughts!! I have walked for years and have gone down a time or two with very little damage. Uneven sidewalks lurking in the shade of a tree...black ice just waiting for me. This time was crazy, and yep, I don't need eye shadow on my right eye because it it black, blue, red and yellow!! So much color nobody would even notice the color of my eye!!

@CHRIS - Oh no!! So sorry to hear that you got hurt! Ouch, I feel for you. Rest up and take care. Hope it heals quickly!
@CLEPANT - That does NOT sound like any fun at all.... my ex-wife & I got a quote to get ceramic tile in our kitchen and dining room about 20 years ago, and we thought it was crazy high and then "How hard could it be to do it ourselves??....." Well, we learned that they sure earn the money because while it was technically pretty easy, it was backbreaking and kneebreaking work. They earn every dollar. Plus, they probably have bigger and better tools that make it easier than what we have to work with.
Having a fall cooldown here in much of the midwest. I think our high today is going to be in the low 50's again. While I'm not ready for fall yet, the trees are starting to show little peeks of color.

The big maple tree in our backyard is beginning to get some highlights. 😍

Well we have fire coming from 3 sides now. Our skies have been interesting but the smoke is getting pretty bad. First time in decades that our part of the valley has been under threat.

@ Chris!! Wow you've had some horrible times!! Hope this time you heal fast!!!
@clepant, What you are doing is HARD labor!!! That is why they wanted to charge you 7oo dollars! I would have paid every cent of that!!!
It was COLD here this morning!! 26* I covered my garden & flower beds last night & also tonight cuz its to be 31* tonight. Then we warm up some!!
I've done 10 miles since being on. Some of those miles were painful because while getting up in the night to close the upstairs windows due to rain I missed a step on the stairs & caught myself with my left shoulder off the wall! I felt a tear & it throbbed all night. Still sore today but better. I'm afraid a surgery is going to be needed.
