    @Katmary71 What a time you are having trying to get in to see these doctors! I hope the patient advocate will be able to help and find you someone who will see you. Good for you for not buying the candy and choosing a healthy option instead! :)

    @bethanie0825 Hang in there and you will get back in your groove. <3

    @tslose Good loss you have going this week! I think many forget to talk about what we do right. We are too busy shining a spotlight on the negatives and that really doesn’t help us, does it? Great job on logging in for 30 days! B)

    @trooworld I’ve heard carba-nada but haven’t tried them. Nice to read a positive endorsement from you. Good job on getting two workouts in! I’m in the same boat with being a fast eater. We got to change that behavior! :#

    @RYcare Great job on drinking 80 oz of water! I find I do so much better with my weight loss when I get in enough water. Yup, you aren’t the only one that needs to slow the fork down and learn to chew your food! Maybe you can set up a kind of game with your girls and challenge each other to be the last one to finish a meal instead of the first one. :)

    @GabiV125 Jealous of the snow you got! I don’t want much. Just enough so things look pretty for a day or two. Ohhh that is funny, and not so funny, about your “city” dog. :D

    Hi Team! Today, I worked on getting ready for my trip to Florida. I haven’t seen my family in over a year and I’ve lost another 20 lbs but I want to look like I’ve lost 40 lbs. So, I tried on all possible outfits and made my husband judge me until I finally settled on what I will wear. :D My eating was good today and I did a hard workout where I somehow managed to tweak my knee. I’m taking off working out until Monday, so hopefully, I will be all healed.

    February Goals: 2/3
    No Sugar Day 3 of no sugar
    Fast for 19+ hours: I fasted 19 hours.
    Stay on a Keto/low carb plan: I kept it Keto today
    Workout 30+ minutes: I did #MBFA upper body
    Do the daily Beck task: I did my task on giving myself credit.
    2021 Focus Word: TRANSFORMATION

    Beck Diet Solution-Daily Task Question

    Day 5: Slow down and eat mindfully. This is such a battle for me! I have been a fast eater my whole life. What makes this so worrisome is that eating fast is something many overweight people do. So, I NEED to slow down if I want to not only think like a thin person but act like one too. My husband takes FOREVER to eat his meals while I shovel it in and sit waiting for him to finish. Not good! I made a reminder card with the steps listed above in the “do this” and have put it on my dining table to hopefully remind me. I would like to be the last one at the table eating instead of always the first one done. :|

    @TeresaW1020 Ohhhh enjoy those new baby snuggles! Sorry to hear about your knee. I hope it heals up quickly so you can get back to normal.

    @Katmary71 I'm so sorry the medical insurance system is adding to your stress about your pain. That whole thing about not even being able to pay cash makes no sense to me. But we have universal health care in Australia which makes so much more sense to me - we all pay a small about extra on our income tax (2%) and that covers everyone for any hospital trips, treatments, most specialists etc. It's a great relief to know that we won't have a hospital bill if we are in a car accident or have a child etc. I don't know how you cope with the stress of trying to figure it all out and I'm so sorry that you even have to. Stay strong, I hope you get some answers soon.

    @bethanie0825 Sounds like you needed the time to unplug for a while. Good to see you back though!

    @trooworld The water thing is something I rarely give myself credit for because I do it every single work day lol. I work on a mine site and we are subject to random hydration tests and drug tests, so I have to make sure that I'm hydrated when I get to work (and also that I can actually produce a urine sample for them to test...). But when I was thinking about what I'd done that deserved credit, it dawned on me that even though I do this every day, I still deserve credit for it!

    @GabiV125 Good loss this week :smile: That's a great step count - maybe it's lucky your doggo doesn't do snow?!

    BECK DIET SOLUTION RESPONSE:
    Day 5
    I love that phrase: Slow the fork down :lol:
    I'm a funny one when it comes to eating speed. I always feel like I'm rushing, shovelling in food and not really savouring it. Like a rush to finish because it tastes good. And yet, somehow, I'm always the last one finished. There's a running joke in my family that I'm the slowest eater in Australia. It's weird how I take so long and yet feel like I'm rushing. I guess maybe there has always been that pressure to eat faster so I feel rushed all the time. It does make me not enjoy my meals as much, because I'm not really tasting it.
    I think what I can do is try to notice when I feel rushed when eating, and slow myself down. I can put down my utensil between bites and really notice the flavours of what I'm eating. Enjoy my food more.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I had a great day yesterday. Work was busy so I was in my chair ALL day. I was involved in a race event in the Hogwarts challenge, so I rushed home and jumped straight on my bike to ride 2 miles for the team. We won, so that was awesome - we were behind right up until the last challenge and ended up winning so we are ecstatic about that! I made a teriyaki chicken stir fry for dinner which was a new recipe - it wasn't that nice, I felt like the sauce needed more flavour and less sweetness. But I made enough for two nights so that means no cooking tonight which is great! After the toddler went to bed, I jumped on my bike again for another half hour and did 8 miles in that time. I managed to buy the Beck Diet Solution book for Kindle (yay) so I read that while I rode. I can't seem to get the workbook anywhere so I'm not sure whether I need it or not. I tried the link that @TeresaW1020 shared at the beginning of the month but it tells me that page doesn't exist and I can't seem to find it when I search either. I can get a hardcopy but it's super expensive so I'll just try to follow along as best I can without it!
    I finished the day with a 1,000 calorie deficit! So I'm super happy about that. I didn't feel hungry even though I didn't eat a lot of calories for the day. So I think this is progress.
    I got another small drop on the scale this morning, which means, according to my goal ladder, that I've now lost an average koala! Yay me! Hoping the scale stays down tomorrow for my "official" weigh in. Since I'm eating leftovers, I'm expecting another day the same as yesterday so I don't think there's a reason for it to rise much.
    Last night I also made the time to meditate a little. It was only short, but I felt relaxed afterwards. Does anyone have any recommendations on Spotify for guided meditation?
    @TeresaW1020 I am so sorry for your knee, take it easy. I am sure you will look amazing in anything you wear.
    Slowing down and try to chew the food at dinner time was so funny. I did the challenge of who finish last not first, thank you for the suggestion. I also asked the girls to chew 10 times before swallowing their bite and man was that a challenge LOL. They would count to 5 or 6 and start giggling “it’s slipping to my throat, I can’t stop it”, or my youngest goes “mom, it is gone - I don’t know where 😊 it just went down”.
    @Katmary71 I hope you are feeling better and so sorry your medical insurance system is not helping in any way. And way to go in staying positive! I can’t resist those candies or sweets mostly at the gas station, so I try as much as I can not to go in 😊
    @trooworld I know exactly how I developed this embarrassment feeling and not happy with it, working on getting better just to prove to those people I can do it. I don’t even look in the mirror but one day I will do look proudly. Find what or who made you feel that way and find your strength to fight it. I have a strong personality in nature but when it comes to weight it just hurts, and I feel horrible when I hear the words or even worse when I see the looks.
    Two persons in my life always encourage me and would want to be them one day, my mom and surprisingly my younger daughter. Both overweight and they do not care about it or what people say or think, they LOVE themselves, they love how they look, they like clothes when they try them, they shop top fashion line. And I am always puzzled when they try stuff they come out the fitting room with a smile if they like the outfit and inside me I am like “ you don’t see?” or “how can you like it” … but of course especially with my youngest I encourage her to wear what she likes and feel comfortable in, because this is the right thing and how it should be.
    @tslose congrats on your loss!
    @GabiV125 we in the mid-west would be as happy as you are but to get some sunshine … 😊
    Wednesday check in
    Hello all Slims! I'm hanging in there - had a total green checks day on the Habit Tracker as I was able to get all my water today. My plan for the weekly step goal, versus a straight up daily goal, is to mark a green check for the days I meet or exceed the goal and when I make the weekly goal, I can mark all of the days green. I have always wondered how folks do goals that are an average or a weekly goal of some sort so I am just making it up as I go along.
    Cals good today, got the steps in - ended up not having any alcohol drinks because I waited so long I didn't want one. @TwistedSassette I totally get it, I'm pretty much a daily drinker. Can drink alone or socially, makes no never mind to me. But sometimes I don't feel like it or try to save cals and then don't. Great way to exercise choices, feel good about the reasons and progress, and still have a wonderful visit with your sis! Australia may be a bit of a hike for living for me but I am hoping to take a trip there one day. I prefer warmer weather....as if my complaints might not have clued y'all in! Great job with progress and deficit - and the trick of repeating meals is a fantastic one! I have pretty much repeated today by pre-logging for tomorrow except I dropped in my evening drink... o:)
    Sunshine today, yay! Two walks with hubs and a drive over the Atlantic Beach bridge in time to see the sunset glowing on Bogue Sound (runs along in front of Morehead City, NC) which was quite lovely to see. Thank you for the kind comments re his SAD. It's hard most winters but this one especially so. BUT. He's much more in tune with his feelings about it this year and when he recognizes it, he's easier to live with and it's easier on him to be him... :D One thing I have always appreciated and admired about Franklin my Love is that he's an admitted work in progress - and he actually works to improve himself. He recently shared his goals with me (he compares the last few years goals, makes new ones, rates his progress, etc.) and, as always, making and keeping his marriage great is at the top of his list. We both feel like, with divorce under the belt, we want to be more kind, respectful, polite, helpful, supportive and all good things to one another, above anyone else. Everyone else benefits from a happy Maria and Frank. I am humbled and inspired by my husband's continual work on self. <3
    Glad to see you pop in @vegan4lyfe2012, I figured you were recovering! I hope you can avoid the 'knife' for a while now!
    Late reply but remembering the kind thoughts @Cornanda yeah, the whole carby thing 2 hours before a walk when I'm not eating a ton anyway is not a great idea for me. It had just been so long that I guess I forgot. The thing is - I really like it and for the calorie bang for great taste buck, it can't be beat. It strikes me as a treat, it fills me up and I just love it. Today I had cereal with dinner and only one small portion of dinner. Had I had 2 portions of dinner, it would have been another 200 cals so I went for my treat. Mind you - it's bran cereal so.....whoohoo, livin' on the edge, here!!! Hahaha!!!
    @TeresaW1020 have fun on Florida.....wow, we're cut from the same cloth! I make sure I wear the most flattering thing I can for some occasions, it's important! Sweetheart of a hubby with some car treats - I love your portioning plan! Great Beck work going on, so many great responses and folks chiming in - I LOVE IT! =>
    @leonadixon you're doing a great job - I try to remind myself of a pretty simple fact: weight loss progress is always an ounce at a time, done 16 times for a pound.....and if I never lose an ounce, I fo' sho' will never lose a pound. No loss is too small or two slow.....great for you!!!
    @GabiV125 great loss this week, so happy for you! Put that dog on the payroll - and give an extra pat from me. If I had to go out to pee on the snow, I'd wet the carpet, too!
    @trooworld wow, dinner looks delish! I'll be looking those noods up, I really love pasta but rarely eat it. Between carbs and cals, I usually avoid it.
    @tslose that's awesome, congrats on the 30 days of logging. It's been studied and confirmed that people who regularly log their consumption, in one form or another, have the most success of weight loss. I know it really helps me stay on track!
    @bethanie0825 glad to see you! I think it's smart to use your time away from tech, screens and things! We all need to unplug from time to time
    @Katmary71 I hope you can find a new doctor! I was prompted to look that up about insurance....that is a suckaroonie. Seems there are ways around it but it looks terribly complicated. =<
    @buniphuphu I am really trying to keep my step count up! I'd love to get back to averaging 15,000 steps a day but that takes a lot of commitment and for now I will be content with an average of 11,000 a day. That's still a commitment but very achievable, even working full time. Like the water, I just have to plan it (do it EARLY!)
    @AustinRuadhain I was also so stuck in my body for so long before losing weight! Even with some gains here and there, I have stayed quite a bit under from my all-time high for many, many years. And that IS something I give myself credit for... => It feels good to not be in constant pain and not get out of breath at the sight of stairs.
    Hello, Slimpossibles!
    Wednesday Check-in
    🟢Food tracked & on plan
    ⚪Workout 45+ / 6 days-wk (today is my off day this week, so calling this a green)
    🟢Martial arts forms
    🟢Breathing/Meditation
    🟢Daily check-in
    This is being a crazy busy day. I have not done a workout yet, but I am off to do some platform stepping. I'll check back and catch up on the fun discussion after!
    Oh, and I am going to a quick disco move when I get up from this keyboard to celebrate that I WANTED pb&raisins today and passed. I even thought of a good reason, and thanked myself for sharing, and then despite having an excellent story about why I deserved to eat something that really doesn't work. So hah.
    Day 6: Find a Diet Coach
    It's easier to lose weight and keep it off if we can check in with someone on a regular basis. Having a coach or buddy, even a virtual one, gives you accountability and support that you just can’t duplicate by yourself. Another person will keep you on target and honest that an app can’t.
    Your coach could be:
    • A close friend or family member. Someone supportive, positive, and proud of you.
    • Someone you are doing this program with so that you can be each other’s coach.
    • Join an organized group. Such as Weight Watchers.
    • A diet professional
    • Internet support
    Do This: Choose your diet coach and then check in daily for the first few weeks or longer and discuss the following with your coach:
    • Weight change, plus or minus
    • Successes and accomplishments in both dieting and exercise
    • Problems you had since you talked last (what sabotaging thoughts you had, what you did in response, what you could say to yourself and do the next time this kind of situation occurs)
    • Situations you think might arise before you talk next, such as going to a party (ask your coach to help you do some advanced problem solving)
    Today’s Question:
    Who have you picked to be your coach? Do you have a plan of when/how you will check in?
    @GabiV125 Good luck with getting your dog to go out in the snow. It doesn't snow here but I know if it did, my dog would refuse to go out. When it rains, he pretty much refuses to go out lol.
    @TeresaW1020 Yes, do try if you are in the mood for pasta but not so much the carbs. Yes, we need to change that! ;) I remember my mom being the slowest eater (and she was thin) and I was always done about 5-10 minutes before her. I'm glad you found the optimal outfit! I hope your knee feels better soon...maybe it's the universe telling you to slow down. ;)
    @TwistedSassette That's good that water isn't something you need to think too much about. You do deserve credit for drinking enough water, even if it is automatic! I feel the same way, I'm not really tasting my food either. That's great you found a way to motivate yourself to get on the bike (the Hogwarts challenge). How fun! Congrats on winning. You do NOT need the Beck workbook. It just repeats the information from the book, just reiterating it from what I can tell (I have both). Wow, what a nice deficit! You remind me to look at my goal ladder. Congrats on losing a koala! :D
    @vegan4lyfe2012 I'm glad you have more mobility in your arm. It's good to hear from you! Eliminating soda is a great step towards health. It sounds like your lunch was really healthy and delicious.
    @RYcare I know exactly who made me feel bad about my weight: my parents. My dad was kind of a bully and my mom didn't do anything to stop it. I'm glad you have encouraging people in your life. I do, too, my husband and my friends are all encouraging. That's great that your mom and your daughter are so comfortable in their own skin.
    @raleighgirl09 Woo hoo for all green checks! I also had my first day of all green checks. :) I'm sorry your husband is affected by SAD. That must be tough. Does it help when he gets outside for those walks? Wow, that's great that your hubby works on himself like that! That's cool. Yeah I really liked the noodles. I don't eat pasta much either because it is so carb-heavy and high in WW points so this was a good solution. I'm glad you are loving your new job.
    @AustinRuadhain WOO HOO for the disco move and passing up PB & raisins!
    Hi all. I'm doing okay, still struggling with sleep. I thought working out was helping but it doesn't seem to be consistently helping. I'm thinking of trying CBD tincture to see if it would help. I'm seeing my new doctor today and will ask what she thinks of that. Food is good, exercise is good, it's all good lol. I checked my goal ladder and I am 25% of the way to my goal. Yay!!!
    BECK DIET SOLUTION DAY 6: FIND A COACH
    Answer: I have picked my husband to be my coach. He's conveniently around, is on the same plan as me/is in the weight loss mindset, and is encouraging and a great problem solver. I will check in with him on the way home from work every day and on the weekends, I'll find the time.
    Quick Thursday check in. I was so proud of myself for ending yesterday with calories in the green and having consumed over 100oz water. I definitely have a headache from coming off of the soda caffeine. I was doing good – I had gone a few weeks with no soda, but then gave in and had one bottle on Tuesday. It’s crazy how one little bottle can reset the caffeine monster. I also have been making good food choices and (TMI WARNING) my body is flushing out the toxins. Gross, I know. But to think that those toxins were hanging out in there is gross, too. I started this morning with my water and tea and put my block of tofu in the press and read the entries here. I would love to chime in on some, but everyone responded with what I’d say already. It’s hard trying to take up where I left off. Sorry, my peeps. After that, I made tofu scramble and decided to amp it up a bit. This was the first time I used soy chorizo and it was delicious! So it had double soy for lots of protein to keep me full. Also had onions, green peppers, mushrooms, garlic and turmeric. One serving (1/4 of the pan) was only 216 calories. Gives me some extra leeway with lunch cals :) My daughter and I have tickets for an afternoon show at the theater (The Little Things) and I plan on eating some taters before going so I can make it through a 2 hour movie with just iced tea. I really want a small popcorn, but if I do, it will put me on a downward spiral. I simply must say no to it. I was thinking of sneaking in some carrot sticks like I’ve done before, but not 100% dedicated to that. I keep telling myself that there is no reason to think that I HAVE to have a snack while watching a movie. It’s a hard habit to break (got that song stuck in my head, so I thought I’d give you all an ear worm, too!)
    @vegan4lyfe2012 I'm glad your arm is healing up enough to type now. Sounds like physical therapy is coming along nicely if you're using weights, but I'm sorry that it affects your mental health so much. My mother in law snapped a ligament in her knee late last year, spent a couple of weeks in hospital and is now still at home on crutches awaiting surgery after an infection in it, and I know that not being able to do what she normally can and relying on family to help has really affected her mental health as well. It sucks. But it sounds like you're ready to come out of the fog a bit now, so I wish you well. They say 80% of weight loss happens in the kitchen so good on you for making some healthy changes in your diet!
    @RYcare That's hilarious! It shows how much of our eating is just automatic - your daughter couldn't even stop herself from swallowing it when she was trying to!
    I know what you mean about the people who just love themselves as they are. It's not that they don't see their weight, it's that they love themselves and love their body despite that. And I think that's wonderful! A few weeks ago at yoga class, the affirmation card I randomly chose really resonated with me and it makes absolute sense:
    "For as long as you continue to judge yourself, you go through your day as if you are on trial."
    @raleighgirl09 Awww, I loved reading about Maria and Frank - how beautiful! I'm glad the new company is working out.
    @trooworld Congrats on being 25% of the way to your goal! That's amazing! I hope your new doctor has some good suggestions for you. Thanks for letting me know about the workbook, I'll stop trying to source it.
    BECK DIET SOLUTION RESPONSE:
    Day 6:
    My first thought is for my sister to be my coach. We are both trying to lose weight so it could also benefit her (though I don't think she's as committed as I am at this stage). I will still check in with her and talk about my sabotaging thoughts and accomplishments, but I actually think this group is my coach. I check in here daily anyway, with my successes and failures, and since you are also following the book you will know what I'm talking about. Is that ok?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yesterday was good. I had to go off plan for dinner because we had a huge thunderstorm come through and a tree fell on a power line a few blocks away, wiping out the power to the whole region. I had planned to eat the leftover stir fry but had no way to reheat it without power (our cooktop is electric). All we had was the BBQ so we defrosted some steaks in hot water and threw them on the BBQ. The power came back on just as we were about to cook dinner so I made a four-cheese pasta as a side. There were no veggies. But it still fitted in my calories for the day and I felt like some ice cream later on so I made myself a SMALL serve. The day was a win, overall I think!

    Got up this morning and did a quick dance video for 10 mins before work. It's Friday which means it's "Fat Friday" - my coworkers and I always get takeout and have a longer lunch. I usually have a burger of some variety and chips (fries). We always feel overstuffed afterwards! But since I've been thinking a lot about my food choices and social pressure etc. I think I can order something a bit healthier for lunch, skip the chips, and mostly just enjoy the company. It will fit with my diet plan for the day, in any case. I'm going to give myself credit for coming up with a plan beforehand, now let's hope that I can actually stick to that!

    This morning's "official" weigh in has me down 2.2kg for the week. Even though a bunch of that is water weight, I still feel proud of my efforts this week. I'm now down over 7kg from my highest. I can do this!

    @RYcare Ohhh I’m so happy you tried the challenge and it seemed to work! How old are your girls? They sound super cute! :)

    @raleighgirl09 Ohh my goodness! I love what you said about your Franklin. My husband and I have past marriages under our belt too so we also know the importance of putting each other first. :) I used to have this sketchy scale and what I would do was to get on it while holding something heavy, get off, and then weigh myself like normal. For some reason that seemed to work. But I think for your sanity it might be best to stay off that rascal as much as possible. :D I do think there is something to be said for chilling out and building your maintenance muscle. As you know this life is a journey, and you might just be at a point right now where you need to put yourself on cruise control. See what I did there? ;) Enjoy your time on the coast! And yes, I agree that the responses we are getting with the Beck program are great! Much more than I thought it would be and I’m super proud of our little Slimsters. <3

    @AustinRuadhain Yeah, disco moves are great! Did you channel your inner John Travolta! :D

    @trooworld The knee is fine. It’s the back now! :s I did some heavyweights yesterday and I really don’t think my back likes those bent-over rows. Hmm? I’m taking off until Monday, so plenty of time to rest up. I think a husband can be a great coach. As long as he is super supportive, non-judgmental, but also won’t let you get away with lying to yourself. That’s what I told my husband. :grin:

    @vegan4lyfe2012 Sounds like you are making some very good choices for yourself. Giving up soda is a great start. Have you tried sparkling mineral water or seltzer? I LOVE seltzer in the can and when I want to splurge, I buy Topo Chico in the glass bottle. Soooo fizzy without any of the bad stuff. I hope you had a great time at the movies with your daughter. Good choice to smuggle in carrot sticks and avoid the popcorn. Love that Chicago song! <3

    @TwistedSassette Congrats on your great weigh-in this week! If you and your sister can coach each other that might be a good thing. You can be each other’s cheerleaders and motivate each other when you struggle. But yes, to you using us as well as your coach. I feel the same way about this group and how we all know the struggles we face, and we all know how important it is to celebrate the victories. :) Yes, you can order healthier options on Friday and instead of calling it “Fat Friday” tell your co-workers that you are changing the name to “Freedom Friday,” because you are going to eat, enjoy, and not feel overstuffed. Can’t wait to hear how you did.

    Hi Team! Well, I’m all packed up and ready for my trip to Florida in the morning. It’s a seven-hour drive and I plan for us to be up and out of here by 6 am. I have my snacks and waters ready to go as well and I’m really going to do my best to not overdo the food. It will be too difficult to stick to Keto but that is OK. I will be back Sunday night and can get right back on track. :) I hope to be able to check in with you all but not sure if I will be able to do replies. @trooworld will be posting the Beck questions for the next three days so be looking for those. I’ll for sure talk to all on Monday. Have a great weekend!! <3

    February Goals: 2/4
    No Sugar Day 4 of no sugar
    Fast for 19+ hours: I fasted 19 hours.
    Stay on a Keto/low carb plan: I kept it Keto today
    Workout 30+ minutes: I took today off to go into work and then pack for my trip
    Do the daily Beck task: I did my task on giving myself credit.
    2021 Focus Word: TRANSFORMATION

    Beck Diet Solution-Daily Task Question: Day 6: Find a Diet Coach
    I don’t feel that this is a difficult task for me. My first coach is my husband. There is no other person in my life more supportive or invested in my future as a healthy, happy woman. I talk to him about every aspect of my weight loss and will continue to do so. :) I also have this group and all of you! Every day I get to check in with my struggles, successes, problems, situations, and of course the weekly weigh-ins. Being a part of this group keeps me mindful of my tasks and it allows me to be supportive to you as well. If you don’t have someone in your life to be your coach, I encourage you to reach out to me or to someone in this group and let us come alongside you and be your biggest cheerleader.

    Hello, I skipped a day and am now enjoying 20+ posts.... I feel like the person who said that other people had already responded with what I wanted to say, so I'll just say I'm following all of you and thinking of you. I'll throw in a couple things:

    @TeresaW1020 --- enjoy the trip!

    @TwistedSassette I love your Fat Friday idea- you are doing so well with your weight loss journey

    @raleighgirl09 - I think you got this, but I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't eat cereal- just that maybe you have to pay attention to your snack before you exercise. Also- I think you asked about Garmin fitness trackers- I don't have one. My hub has had 2 Garmin running watches and they both had weird issues with the band breaking. Bad pins, something else weird. Disappointing since they were expensive. I really love my Fitbit Versa. Not sure how it compares feature-wise to a Garmin, but the price was decent. I love your thoughts on feeling stuck and sitting on the porch watching the action. I think it's OK to keep rocking until you are ready to tackle the rest.

    @Katmary71 - I really hope that you are able to get the medical help you need soon. This is beyond ridiculous. I'm a nurse and sometimes I am just so ashamed of our healthcare system.

    Tomorrow is weigh in and today was a hungry day and I was a bit over on calories. At least I tracked it all. I've been reading the Beck book and I love it. I see all of my excuses in there as things that can be fixed. I've been thinking about my answers to the questions, but I like to mull and I've been busy with work, so I'll try to catch up on that this weekend.

    Happy Friday!

    Hello, Slimpossibles!

    Thursday Check-in

    🟢Martial arts forms
    🟢Breathing/Meditation
    🟢Daily check-in

    Beck Diet Solution-Daily Task Question: Day 6: Find a Diet Coach
    I check in with my husband and also (though not daily) my martial arts coach.
    My husband is not working on diet right now, but is up for hearing about things I am working on.

    @Cornanda
    Thank you for those warm thoughts! Hang in there with all the busy-ness at work!

    @Katmary71
    I am so, so thinking of you. It bites that you are having to fight so hard to get medical help.

    @TeresaW1020
    Great weigh-in! Congratulations!
    Have a great trip! We'll be thinking of you and wishing you safe travels!
    Yes, the little celebration thing is from Tiny Habits. I still love that method.
    I did do my disco move to celebrate! Not the Stayin Alive thing. More of a Gloria Gaynor hip shimmy. TMI? I am a terrible dancer, so it's NOT photogenic.
    John Travolta is fun, too! Hmm, maybe it's time to dig out some disco cardio things on YouTube. I haven't done that in a while!
    Oh, and I was tickled to see another Topo Chico fan. I love it! My husband has discovered it, so it doesn't last as long as it used to -- oh, well!

    @TwistedSassette
    Great weigh-in! Congratulations!
    I love this! Super inspiring!
    "For as long as you continue to judge yourself, you go through your day as if you are on trial."
    I hope your Friday lunch went well! I love that you made a plan. Thinking ahead of time is always a great start!

    @vegan4lyfe2012
    You, too, sound like you are doing a great job planning, with that theater trip!
    And a big hurray to all your water and your healthier food and drink choices! All those day-to-day choices add up!
    Oh, and I clicked the link and now have the Chicago song in my head!

    @raleighgirl09
    Oh, no, the Sketchy Scale again! Glad you are not letting it make you crazy. Yo are making me laugh as you talk about coping with it.
    I was also so stuck in my body for so long before losing weight! Even with some gains here and there, I have stayed quite a bit under from my all-time high for many, many years. And that IS something I give myself credit for... => It feels good to not be in constant pain and not get out of breath at the sight of stairs
    .
    Hurray for keeping your weight low enough not to be in constant pain. You DO deserve lots of credit for that!
    I have had a Garmin tracker for years and been happy. I got a fancier one for Christmas, and now use both, depending on what I am doing.
    - Garmin VivoSmart HR - This is the one I have had for years. It has been a workhorse. I have gotten new bands once or twice, but those are cheap on Amazon, and you can get fun printed or colored bands for not much extra. It's light and easy to use. Great for tracking steps, sleep, stairs.
    - Garmin Forerunner - Fancier one I got for Christmas. It does more, but is still not one of their really high end ones (I am on a budget). It has a GPS, so you can get a map of a route, or map one out in advance. You can also get add-on gadgets and programs.

    @trooworld
    For some reason, you got me really giggling with your comment about the convenient proximity of your husband making him a great pick for a diet coach.

    @vegan4lyfe2012 I'm glad things are working their way out and you are drinking enough water to do that. I love soy chorizo! It's so good!!! That's a good idea to bring your own snacks to the show.

    @TwistedSassette Thank you! I think it's fine to think of this group as your coach. There's certainly enough support and good advice! That's amazing that you ate pasta the day before weigh-in and still lost weight, I can never do that lol! Enjoy "Fat Friday"! :) You are doing great!!!

    @TeresaW1020 Oh dear! I'm sorry your back is hurting now. My husband checks off all the boxes that you list so he's signed up to be my coach! I hope you have fun on your trip.

    @AustinRuadhain I'm glad I could give you a giggle! :)

    Hi all. I loved my new doctor and she gave me some suggestions for sleep, including NOT drinking my nightly wine spritzer and taking a higher dose of melatonin. I tried both last night and although I woke up just as much, I did sleep better. I got some snacks delivered, my plan is to divide them up into smaller portions and write the points on the bag. It's an experiment to see if I can have salty snacks in the house. We'll see how I do this week!

    My phrase for the year: CHANGE HAPPENS

    BECK DIET SOLUTION POST

    Day 7: Arrange your Environment
    Prepare your home and workspaces by eliminating temptation. Remove or put tempting foods where they are out of sight. You might have to have a conversation with your family or co-workers about leaving tempting foods in plain sight or even worse, trying to push food on you when it’s not part of your eating plan. This is about your health and being the best you can be, so don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself. Those that love and respect you will appreciate your honesty and might even be able to help you along the way.
    Do this: Go through your pantry, fridge, and other places where food is that you shouldn’t be eating. Throw it away, give it away, or put it out of sight. REPLACE with foods you can eat! This is important because so many of us get rid of foods and we don’t have a replacement and that just sets off our cravings and feelings of deprivation. Don’t let that happen to you!

    Today’s Question: What steps did you take to arrange your home and/or work environment so that you can set yourself ups for success?

    Good morning, Slims!

    Thursday Check-in Follow-up
    I did get that workout done, so managed an all-green day.

    And I have started today well, with an on-plan breakfast and completing my martial arts exercise.

    I talked to my husband to let him know he's being my coach, as per the Beck plan, while we were walking last night. So the easy way to fit this in is to check in on our daily walk. Super simple. I feel very lucky to have a supportive partner. I let him know that my current challenge is counting pb&raisin-free days. I am not sure it will make sense to anyone else, but I told him it was like the "Velociraptor Free Workplace" sign (like this) at our favorite toy store, which claims some hilariously small number of days since the last velociraptor incident. So I think "Velociraptor" is my new nickname for raisins, and I may post the sign in my pantry for a bit. You are all now welcome to think I am a nut!

    @davidji82
    WOWzers! Great weigh-in! Congratulations! 🎉🥳

    @TeresaW1020 Have a wonderful trip!

    Thank you all for your support, it means a lot to me! Not much new here, my parents are stopping in today to visit, I haven't seen my mom since Christmas, I really miss seeing everyone more often. I can't be around my brother's family at all because they keep getting exposed with my brother working. I'm sorry I haven't been a good motivator lately, I've had trouble keeping up. Keep doing amazing everyone! I'm happy to see people checking in even if they aren't doing well, we're truly in this together!

    @AustinRuadhain --- I love the velociraptor free work place analogy and it works great for the pesky cravings like PB and raisins!
