@Dory_42 - a weekend at and elephant park in a tent??? Sounds like a dream to me! WOW. Have to admit, I’m kind of jealous right now. I want to hear all about it when you get back.

@lesdarts180 - I often wonder the same thing when it’s a beautiful day and yet people sit inside. As for your trip to the theme park, I’m glad you will all be together, outside, with a reason to celebrate. And if/when the sorrow hits, so be it, have a good cry with the people you love.

@thabit - I’ve actually ordered a kids meal the last couple times at fast food. I get the taste, the convenience, but with half the calories and I’m perfectly satisfied. The bonus is I get to throw a new toy into the toy box for the grandkids to find!

Yesterday I was 500 calories over! I know exactly where things went wrong and will know better next time. My husband made a low cal desert yesterday. Normally I wait until around 9:00 to have any treat but last night I had it right after dinner, even though I wasn’t hungry. So then at 9 I wanted something and because the splurge at 6 kicked off a sugar craving, well, I had several things I shouldn’t have and ended up way over. Part of the learning process.

Had my second Covid jab today (we have to wait 12 weeks here in the UK). They ask you to wait 15 minutes before driving home, it was warm and sunny so I passed the time walking in the car park and chatting to the helpers. Amazing that everyone else was just sitting in their cars! Why don’t people take advantage of the sun and get out there? (The car park walk was in addition to the walk mentioned above)

congrats on getting the jabs done. Here we sit in our cars because we are making sure there are no reactions.Basically being monitored for 15 minutes. I had my heart rate spike with the 2nd jab so not only did I sit in my car for 15 minutes but I had to wait another extra 15 or 20 until my heart settled back down and the EMT thought it was safe for me to drive.

Today was the first day in two weeks that Rose and I were able to sit down this afternoon and have a relaxed chat.
Coco, easily walked onto his horse trailer today. In fact, he was in there for 20 minutes; unloaded for a 10 minute walk around and then back into the trailer for 10 more minutes. The "practice' of loading him is what allows him to adjust to the experience. We experience the same thing. We are comfortable within some daily routine zone. Whenever we are pushed beyond our normal boundaries, we experience fear and discomfort.

    My daily post:
Exercise: over an hour of walking
    Calories: under my limit
    Tracking; ok

Impressive 👍 honestly bike is not my thing. I prefer hiking. And I have a dream to go from Germany over Alps to Italy. May be I will do that one day 😊. This is from one of our vacations, from the time BEFORE....

Yes trailer loading horses is something which requires a plan and patience. It is NEVER good to be in a rush or unpracticed. Even a horse who self loads in one trailer might and probably will balk at another. I had an experience early on with loading the then 4 yo Bandit which then required me to take an entire set of weekends to just allow the process to develop. The biggest part of it for me is the mindset. You have to go in to the training with the idea that it is going to take as long as it is going to take. LOL. Bandit is pretty much a self loader now in my trailer but we don't go anywhere much. I don't envy you the long trip. I have found that people just do not respect that you are hauling a heavy load and will cut in front of you or stop short or zoom around you without conscious you have a living creature to care for on board. Congratulations on acclimating Coco back to the process in a patient and gentle planned manner!

My one terrifying story was when I was going thru a small Tx town on the way to A&M college station on year for a checkup with Bandit. There were several small towning stop lights in the small city area, and as we drove thru slowly the light in front turned yellow. The car in front of me SLAMMED on the brakes at the yellow, and although I wasn't following too closely I had to do the same and ended up within INCHES of their bumper and probably jerking Bandit forward. I did not hit them and they never even looked back as they were too busy looking at the Sheriff car on the right. I got out and checked on Bandit who was OK.

After the light changed we moved forward and rapidly were back to countryside 2 lane highway. I was quite surprised to all of a sudden see lights and siren in my rear view and slowed to move to the shoulder. The Sheriff ZOOMED by me and caught up to the car ahead of me and pulled them over. My guess is they saw the entire situation and were going to EXPLAIN to this car what a wreck they had almost caused. :#

    Thoughts and Goals for April:
April has arrived and I am sitting here reflecting back on this month. It is the first month since September that I have closed the month with an “up”. That said, an up had to come at some point since at some point one is no longer trying/needing to lose weight, and I had passed my original goal back in January, I believe. The up on its own would be fine, but the habits, or lack thereof, that crept into my March are the concern. So, for the month of April, I will be focusing on returning to preplanning/pre-tracking as much as is possible and to not just thrown in the day it does not go as planned. I know that I know how to re-group and I need to make sure I find the time and energy for that. I want to up my cardio. Yes, I am “group walking” every day which burns calories, but honestly, I could walk at that pace for hours and hours without effort. I need to push myself, here and there, again. I will also be trying to maintain the social aspect of the group walks as well, so juggling all those time commitments will take a little focus. Lastly, I need to return to adding back exercises. I have not planked in a month, and rarely done exercises other than walking, running, or biking. So I need to figure out how to include bodyweight or dumbbell workouts. Here’s to April.

    Wishing everyone a great month!

*** Sitting here as I write this, I have to wonder if posting my thoughts here this morning helped me to frame and get through the day. This morning, I did actually expect today to be a pass day, despite the slight optimism I expressed in my post. Ten minutes later, I decided to track a tentative day – carrot cake, stuffed shells and all. When I got done, I saw that even with every food included I could meet my calorie goals for the day. Portion control was the key. The plan was 90% accurate and the other 10% was adjusted on the fly. When I added something, I took something else away (sorry salad :P ). I enjoyed Easter with no pass today. The success feels good!

Apple Watch TDEE: updated the following day – see spoiler

*** Had an interesting moment today that I hope will help me to understand the benefit of what was accomplished these 6 months. Today, I got home from a short grocery shopping including two bottles of wine to bring to friends on Sunday. I hate using the elevator at the building so I take the two flights to our condo. I carried all the groceries at once, from the car, through the parking and up the two flights. Not hard, but I could feel the difference. As an experiment, I walked directly to the scale when I got in our unit to see how high a combined weight I now was. I was still almost 9 lbs less that what I weighed in September, and almost 24 lbs less than my high in 2001. Hopefully experiments like this will help me keep focus, and keep my maintenance going. Yo-yo-ing has been my tendancy.

*** what a difference a day makes. So interesting seeing yesterday’s comment in light of how today went. Day started well by entering another 5K race and did well. Then guests failed to show on time and failed to communicate and threw off the days good intensions. Had been pre-tracked but that all got thrown away as the day evolved and I could not rapidly re-group.

*** today, I faced dinner at a friend’s house and since cooking is not her strength, there was no way I could impose on her by asking what she was preparing. So I decided (wrongly) to just forfeit the day. Spent the day working on sealing 500 square feet of tile grout.

*** Woke up to torrential rain. First rain here in months. Of course, this is the day after we spent the day applying grout sealant that could not get wet for 72 hours. So not only is the sealant wet, but apparently rain plus brand new screens creates some sort of black mud which is covering my no longer sealed grout. The day went to heck. No daily walk and, while spending the day re-cleaning tile and grout, made no others efforts that day.
