Some of yesterday's posts raised a theme of being 'in the ditch' or 'stuck' on the wrong path.
What are some of the things that have helped you to get back on track toward your goals.
I force myself to look forward. I have a tendency to hold on to my guilt when I focus on what I have done wrong.

X3 yes to all questions.
I was feeling fatigued from yesterday, so did 30 minutes of walking.
Thanks @MaltedTea , @Jana_2020 and @lesdarts180 , hopefully for a long stay 🤗.
To answer today's question, I stop whatever I'm doing to give myself a chance to understand the whole picture, then I would try to find what's the cause of me going stray and try to change it or cut it off if possible.
An early goodnight to some of you 💜💜8 -
I had a vision: me - jobless and searching for a new job, not so young anymore and fat. These was way too much for me and helped me to come back to my senses. And I must stay strong and healthy for my family 😊7

"Give your body a chance, it'll surprise you in a way you would never imagine it could. You'll one day look back and thank your past-self for not giving up."
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
• Jogging 7.2 km in 0:44:08 (6:07 min/km – above average; top 26%)
• Day 4 of Beginner EPIC | 30 Min Dumbbell Full Body Workout (I discovered a beginner version of the program and will practice it for few weeks before moving to the next level). I enjoyed it very much
• Fitness Age/VO2max: 20/41

I learnt early on in life not to spend too much time thinking about the past or what might have been, I'm not one for regrets. I get on with what comes next, get up in the morning and get on with it. Each day we have a chance to start afresh, make the most of what we have.7 -

@RangerRickL
1. “The Past is Passed.” ie “let it go & do what you can NOW.”
2. Focus: someone gave me her precious kidney- I promised her - and more importantly myself - that I would take excellent care of her amazing gift.
3. Remind myself that tiny shifts in behavior lead to great results. AND 99% of my eating/exercise goes smoothly, so when the 1% is difficult I throw ALL my energy into that small behavior slip. THAT is the KEY behavior for me of maintenance. Know when to act & do it sooner rather than later.
4. Finally I remember what I was like Fall 2015 & Jan 1, 2016. I never want to be like that. I am so excited & proud to be able to:
* hike uphill long & fast joyfully with my husband, son, friends!!!
* sit on the ground for hours (yesterday) and have no back pain
* To live life fully
I am committed to doing whatever I need to do to be healthy. I experienced what it’s like to lose one’s health. I’m extremely lucky to have regained it.

Yes x 3 today. Struggling with feeling hungry for the last 3 days. But today I went for a bike ride at lunch and after work so I was able to eat a bit more while still staying way under!
Perseverance would be my answer to today's question. I just keep trying until I get it done. Having said that, I do fail a lot along the way and sometimes it may take a LONG time to get it done... 😁8 -
Over on cals today, tracked it all and exercised. 3/3 pass days used. Back on tomorrow!4

Hi @Jana_2020
Are you eating more sugar or salty foods? L
That often triggers more mouth hunger for me. If it’s true hunger, perhaps up your calories slightly? (Is your exercise burn higher than usual?)3 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? YES (cleaning house for over an hour)
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? YES
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? YES
What has helped me stay on track, especially this month, is knowing that in the future things are opening up, re COVID, and my clothes are not fitting me well. I need to stay on track and lose the weight I've gained. I don't want to go back to in person church with skirts that show off my muffin top...lol.9 -

Another big day of both working in the office part-time and physically working at home. Our daughter, Diana and our grandson, Evan, have been helping Rose and I organize and transport lots of accumulated stuff. We have been instructed by the real estate agent to depersonalize our home before putting it on the market. Some stuff goes to specific other people. Some stuff goes in the trash. Some stuff gets recycled. A few things will be moved to a rented storage space.
Exercise: Active stretching in the morning, 23 minutes. 2+ hours of physical movement in afternoon.
Tracking:good

June 18:
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, 30 minutes on the stair stepper and a 20 minute walk.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Nope. Even with the exercise, cocktails pushed me over. I was able to track them because I made them at home, but whew! Tracking is indeed eye opening.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes.
Pass days used: 5/3, including today
I think that in the past, I would have gone on a binge at this point -- I have slipped up, so why not go all in? I am not doing that now. I am motivated to keep moving forward, and to see the bigger picture: 1) stopping cycles/patterns; 2) establishing a healthy lifestyle/routine; 3) not setting situational goals, i.e., I have to look good for this event, or when this person sees me, or to get into that dress.8 -

I find that when I get “stuck”, it’s important for me to realize that I can get back on track. You’re only out if you don’t get up when you’re knocked down. But it is a mind game... I’m the only one who can get myself back on track, and I’ve got to keep my WHY front and center.

@achagpar
Yes! I do think others can help, but ultimately it is us facing ourselves & choosing long term success over temporary short term enjoyment. The trick is changing what you think is enjoyable!!!
Congratulations!
And identifying and keeping my Big Why front & center has made ALL the difference.

Walked to the shops and coffee with friends but got lazy and didn’t log. Supper and game evening with friends and went over on calories on the amazing food.
On Saturday morning I got a warning from the increased number on the scale which is higher than I like to see by a couple of kgs so hoping it will motivate me to focus nutrition again. I want to keep training at my high levels but to do that I need to fuel my body properly. Treats are allowed but they need to be more occasional than they have been lately.7 -

Being over 60 & retired I see myself at the point where I'm in the final 1/3 of my life if I'm lucky. I've worked hard to put myself in the position of being financially secure in retirement so now I want to enjoy myself to the fullest and not be a fat out of shape old woman. This is what keeps me mostly on track.7 -

Well, after reading everyone’s, congratulating a couple, and posting my own approach, I went for a 48 min walk in the dark! Ended the day with almost 8K steps instead of 1.5K!
So I’m changing that ❌ to an ✅, and holding at 4 Pass Days!7 -
@RangerRickL i had to think really hard with regards to todays question. I must say how u deal with not getting stuck really rang true to me. My whole life i hve felt guilty for everything and anything. All my decisions in every day life were driven by guilt. Letting go of guilt is something i am in the process of doing and i feel like i am becoming a better person since learning to let go!! This has also helped with my health goals as im learning to enjoy all foods in moderation instead of feeling guilty for eating fun foods!4
