Hi. I'm Annie, 59, divorced, retired, and living in Delaware with my parents. My Dad is hard of hearing and my mom is losing her memory, but so far they are ageing well.
I workout with small dumbbells and bodyweight three times a week. I'm close to doing a pushup. I've also been walking inside, but I get pain in my legs, probably from being too sedentary. Right now I can walk for twelve minutes, which isn't much. But it's slowly getting better. Someday I might go back to the gym. And eventually get out and hike or ride my bike.
I would like to find an exercise that gets me sweaty but doesn't hurt. Maybe rowing, but I can't do that at home.
I eat eggs for breakfast, and overnight oatmeal with blueberries and protein powder for lunch. Then chicken for dinner. It's good until I get into the cookies or desserts that my mom buys. I'm down at 1100 calories, because I spend so much time in my room. Sundays are tricky for me because mom wants a big Sunday family dinner.
I just joined an online writer's group so I'm getting excited about writing again, but from a weight loss point of view, it's another sedentary hobby.
My goal for June is to stay under calories. On days when I eat out, I need a bigger deficit the day before and after. A second goal is to walk longer, say twenty minutes. And to get a new pair of walking shoes. And that pushup.

It's so hard to resist temptation! Could you put the treats away so they aren't in your sight? That has helped me.
You can do that pushup!!!1 -

I am new to the group. I lost over 50 pounds last year and felt great, but around Thanksgiving, I just gave up. I have gained almost all of it back. I am trying to focus on taking care of myself to relose the weight and not bury myself in feeling disappointed and discouraged. I am sorry I posted my weigh-in late. I love to garden and spent all weekend in the yard, so I didn't read this thread until today!1

Search for Caroline Girvan EPIC and you’ll find her channel on YouTube. It’s a free 10 week program with 50 videos. She has a bonus beginner week to help you get used to the moves. I’ve never tried her workouts before but have heard rave reviews and they seem challenging.

Hello!
I'm Jen, 51 yrs old, three amazing adult children, three adorable grand babies that I care for most days and work in the medical field on evening shift. I have two silly rescued pit bulls and volunteer with several rescues in the area. I love all animals and nature. My kids call me a hippy dippy lol. I live on the coast in Virginia and love creating in the kitchen, gardening, running, biking, lifting weights and yoga. And of course being on/in the water:) I also managed a latin dance studio for several years so love Salsa and Bachata!
Looking forward to making this journey with you all! I started in October 2019 at 224 pounds and am down to 153 as of now, with 15ish pound to go.
Let's rock this month out!6 -
Wednesday weigh in:
Can you carry over my weight from last week - I'm on vacation in Vegas & have no way to weigh in - thx2 -
I had to drop off my car at the mechanic this morning, so I will be fighting the urge to stress eat today! How is everyone else doing today?3
-
@RisingAboveIt - I’m sorry to hear about the added stress you’re dealing with because of your car problem. Can the mechanic let you use a ‘loaner’ car while it’s being fixed or are you able to get around without it?
I have a lot of work today and your question made my aware of my procrastination 🙄. I’m scheduled to row later today and have to meet friends at the boathouse this afternoon, which means I need to clear up my work tasks this morning. Thanks for jolting me back to reality. The high school boathouse near my house has been closed during the pandemic so my commute has been tripled from 10 minutes by bike or car (and also a manageable bus ride or walk) to 30 minutes in heavy traffic. I was so glad to have the option to continue sculling during the shutdown but I’m looking forward to the re-opening of the local rowing program in early July!
I hope you can reduce your stress with a walk or some other replacement for food, since the temporary comfort of food will likely add more stress later. Is there something that might help? Sometimes I would turn to simple moments of relief by using a scented lotion on my hands or enjoying one peppermint in a mindful way. I’m sure you’ll find what works best for you (turning up the music and dancing 💃?). Best wishes with your car and hang in there until the comfort food urge passes. You can do it!2 -
@RisingAboveIt - So sorry to hear you are having car issues...car issues are the worst! We pay insurance, we pay for maintenance, some pay car payments, and yet when something goes wrong...we STILL PAY! I hope it turns out to be minor stuff.
Hello All - My day is going very well so far. Work is quiet so I am hoping to get a lot done today.
Quick question...My weigh in day is Saturday.
So...just to be sure I am doing this correctly...I will post my first change in stats on Saturday.
Is that right? I saw someone else who chose Saturday already posted.2 -

Eating badly will not fix your car.... maybe take a walk instead3 -

You are correct about posting on Saturday. The other poster was likely a late weigh in from last week. That weigh in didn’t get into the tally for the week or even the month bc it was the end of month.
All weigh ins for the week must be posted by end of day Saturday. Moderator @jugar calculates the tallies at the crack of dawn Eastern standard time Sunday. I post the tallies typically later on Sunday - some weeks I’m a slacker (and human, and have a life away from MFP) and they get posted on Monday.
We are so glad to have you in the group!!!0 -
Happy Wednesday everyone!!!!
@Be_theBest_Me and I are continuing our mano y mano challenge again this month. Neither of us earned the prize last month. This months challenge is the first to lose 6 lbs. My starting weight for the challenge was 184.6, hers was 184.8. NECK AND NECK CHALLENGE!!!!
Some personal crap....
Some of the veteran members will recall in march I posted about being one year sober. Soon after the post I fell off the wagon. This has probably contributed to my gaining as of lately. Yesterday was my new day 1. I’m back on the sober wagon. I cannot drink like a typical adult, only like a binging college student. Therefore, I must stop completely. Once you become a pickle, you cannot go back to being just a cucumber.

@Beka3695 I’m that way with a lot of things. I will be rooting for your sobriety and your losses this month.
I started a new workout program yesterday and I’m up a pound. I’m eating a lot of veggies, drinking saltwater and have sore muscles so I *know* it’s just scale weight but it is always frustrating to work so hard and not see the numbers go down, especially in the beginning.2 -

@Beka3695 sometimes life gets in the way... glad to hear you're back to being sober! Hit me up if you get cravings that need company for their misery, since I'm also on the sober train at least until giving birth.
On Tuesday I was hit with the most unfair hangover ever - I went out for dinner with some colleagues on Monday night. Obviously I didn't drink anything and I was home before 9PM, so the night included neither alcohol nor staying up late. Still, on Tuesday morning, I had a splitting headache, absolute exhaustion, puked, and was really thirsty. Sounds like a hangover to me.
4 days to go until our pregnancy halfway point, and one week until our anatomy scan where we can see the little one, hopefully hear everything is OK and maybe we'll even find out the sex of the baby3 -
