Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Such a relief to be assured that I am on the right track.
Good day today with β β βJust back from an 85 minute walk with the pup. Given we canβt go to the dog park or have play dates, weβve been doing extra long walks to tire this puppy out. I was so pleased that I had the new harness sorted and he didnβt pull on the leash at all. Then we got home I realized it had come off and was having no effect at all. π€ͺ What can I say β it was dark and he is jet black. But the good news is that he is much better behaved than I realized! Iβll take the win.
Wishing everyone a good night/morning.

This is my second weigh in since the shocking revelation on June 29 which confirmed a lifetime high weight. We had a good talk about how to get started and set a follow up weigh in for July 27, four weeks later.
On July 27 I weighed in 11 pounds down, and joined MFP that day on the advice of the nutritionist. I found and joined this wonderful group a few days later.
Today I was an additional 7 pounds down, making a total of 18 pounds gone since June 29. This has been a terrific start for me and I really feel optimistic about the long journey ahead.
I was also happy to have guidance from the nutritionist at my doctorβs office to adjust my set daily calories and macros. I will see her again in four weeks. π₯°
Congratulations @jamcnewman !! I can feel your excitement!! Awesome that you can confer with the nutritionistππ3 -

Thanks so much @MadisonMolly2017 π Nutritionist and Exercise Physiologist are free services offered at my doctorβs clinic. I hadnβt taken advantage of them before, but see now that they are key to my support system. I had an in person consultation with each today.3 -
Did I exercise? 115 minutes of walking
Did I track it all? Yes
Did I stay under my limit? Yes
Congrats @jamcnewman .. I was excited to see your results this evening and I'm happy it went so well.
We spend our summers at the lake and like @_JeffreyD_ we enjoy boating and fishing. We also like hiking and walking and biking, so always finding fun places to go outdoors.

Did I exercise at least 20 minutes? Nope
Did I track everything? Yep.
Did I eat within goals? :noway: :sad: :ohwell:
Today, at 8:57 p.m. AZ time, I completed my 63rd circuit around the sun. Or, as I prefer to think of it, the 42nd anniversary of my 21st orbit. Hahahahahah! I am probably healthier now than I've been since, I don't know when. I have been doing absolute rubbish this week as far as exercise and calories go, but I've tracked. Every day. Every thing. I know I've got my work cut out for me to try to re-lose the weight I'm sure I put on so far. What was that saying "Today is the first day of the rest of your life"? Well, since I'm about to head to bed, I'll modify that to "Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life." Time to get serious... again.
Parks pictures? That I can do. I actually thought I had more, so you guys lucked out. None of these are new because I've been doing my running and riding on the Loop, which is kind of a park, but not as pretty as these places.

Cβ | Tβ | Eβ Exercise was an early morning walk and a lunchtime walk to Trader Joe's. 75 mins total.
Tonight was our small group bible study (potluck) and I brought a veggie tray! (what else!?)
I knew that the main course was sloppy joes and yet didn't know what all was in them since I wasn't making them. So I ate some shrimp before I left home..... to get in my evening protein as well as helping me to not be "hangry" once I went through the potluck line - which would then cause me to make poor choices! And it worked! I was able to eat only the veggies and be completely satisfied!
BONUS -- I was also able to turn down the red velvet cheesecake for dessert! #win
As far as the national parks: A couple of years ago I read "Dear Bob and Sue" by Matt and Karen Smith, which is a hysterical book about a couple that decides to visit ALL of the national parks in the US! DH and I thought that we'd like to do that once we retire!!5 -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @seilidhe I told people it was the 21st anniversary of my 39th birthday! Lol. I hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!4 -
@jamcnewman - you are off to an amazing start. Congratulations! Iβm glad you found us.
@Mrs_Hoffer - Iβve heard of that book but never read it. Retirement is 3 work days away so I think that should be my first read. I have a half marathon at Mt Rushmore in September with a company, vacationraces, all their runs are at national parks. You canβt run inside the property, but the courses are just outside so it puts you close enough to go visit. They have awesome medals too. And itβs all about the bling.6 -
@biketheworld that is so cool! I'm so jealous! My retirement is only 379 days away! Not like I'm counting down or anything! You will love that book, it's an easy and easy read. And HUGE kudos to you on the HM at Rushmore! I'm excited for you!2

@biketheworld Congrats on your upcoming retirement. How exciting!
I am also signed up for a half marathon via vacation races. I am a walker so I am always at the back of the pack.
I did the Everglades years ago through them and really enjoyed it. I have been out of shape since taking care of my mom for the past couple of years and this is my 'kedge' to pull me along into getting back in shape. I am signed up for the Saguaro Half in Feb 2022. I have to admit that I was getting pretty excited looking at the pictures posted by @seilidhe
I am not that familiar with that area of the country and it looks so beautiful!!!2 -
@seilidhe HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
@biketheworld Oh my gosh, retirement is SO close.. wow, this is great news!

@snowshoe072
Thanks for taking the trouble to post some advice. However, I have tried several times. I have an android phone and have tried taking the photo a photo βliveβ or selecting from my saved photos. Neither works. I can post photos on my home page (the whatβs on your mind space) but not on these threads.

Just feeling very tired and staying ahead of my asthma and allergy issues. I have serious medicine head and feel like a mack truck hit me. Hubby daughter and my mother are quarantining with me. For those who pray please lift up protection for mom. She is vaccinated so she has that. However the rest of us are sick but I am making sure everyone is breathing freely and tending fevers.6 -
