Yes, yes and yes
Walking with intention
I ran out of time to do much else. If I have had a change in mindset, it is to be more of a friend to myself and not get upset when I can not achieve everything I want to do.5 -
@bradkcrew I concur with @snowshoe072 there is no need to wait. I certainly understand wanting to familiarize oneself with a group or even the general values in listening than speaking. But this forum here is richer with all insights, in my opinion. Sometimes fresh eyes have the best insights!5

What has changed? I no longer stress about my weight, what Iβm eating, how my clothes fit, how I want to lose x pounds before the summer/a wedding/a party, dieting, etc. I knew I focused on these things throughout life but didnβt know just how much. I feel free now. I know what I have to do and just do it. It is like brushing my teeth or tying my shoes. I donβt fixate on those things, I just brush my teeth and tie my shoes. Iβm conscious of these things but I am not anxiously fixated.
@SummerSkier - Happy Birthday!
@bradkcrew - hi! Jump right in.

Tracking: Yes
Calories: under
Exercise: Yes, full body warm up 10 min, core 10 min, lift full body 20 min, cycle 45, cool down ride, post ride stretch, focus flow yoga 30 min - feel so much better and did way too much.
Pass days to date - 47 -
Exercise:
I seriously considered a pass day today. I had a guest until 5pm, and felt tired and run down all day so definitely didn't want to do any exercise after he left. But...then I thought how it's only a 20 minute commitment and I didn't want to just give up on my streak. It was raining, but I decided I could at least walk twenty minutes, even if it wasn't my usual speed. I ended up going 2 miles/30 minutes. Slower than usual, but still not slow. I'm satisfied, and tomorrow is a new day.
Tracking:
Calories: Yes, but I am so hungry right now, which is unusual. I am going to go get a 100 cal. popcorn bag because the nagging feeling has persisted, but I will still be in range for the day.
I read all of the daily questions, think about them, and read responses, but since I am new I figure I should just observe this month.
I feel the same way. I don't want to answer "No" for 20 mins exercise. When I am very busy, I have divided my workout into bits of 10 minutes. Sometime I arrange my activities to be like a workout. For example, do all my phone calls while moving around. Sometimes, Leslie Sansone Walk-at-home saves the day
Please jump in at any time. We are like a family here. You are safe.6 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Kitchen Closed? Yes
Going "nuts" with nuts today? No (14 days-free )
(I go "nuts" with nuts most times, trying to continue a good habit this month. Counting the number of "nuts" free days.) I am still learning a lot about myself in this area!
Lots of freggies today? Yes
Pass day 2/3 (this is for accountability to myself and my records).
How has your mindset changed because of your new healthy(ier) lifestyle, and knowledge that you've gained in your journey?
Yes, made a lot of discoveries on this journey.
The most important one for me is the fact that this is the all about "me" and nobody can do it for me.
It is cheaper for me to eat healthy than buy drugs (make the Pharmaceutical companies rich at my expense).
The discipline from my healthier life style has been extended to other areas of my life and those around me are also blessed by my life style.6 -
My habits have changed thanks to several years of UAC activities. I continue to be happily surprised that I have developed a healthy sensation of satiety. That sensation is a relatively new experience. Itβs delightful to not want to over eat.
Todayβs report:
More exercise than usual: active stretching; cardio strength and later in the day intentional walking
Calories: well under my limit
Tracking: good
@MaltedTea You are an inspiration to me! Thanks for sharing your commitment list7 -
August 17th:
β Tracked all my calories
Stayed under calorie goal
β Exercised more than 20 mins (20 mins on stationary bike)
8/17 days
9/3 pass days used
You know, I totally forgot about all the great discussions yesterday on trigger foods etc. and ate wayyyy too many Pringles. Only like 15 calories over for the day, but over is over.7 -
@snowshoe072 @victorious55 @WhatMeRunning @readyornot1234 Thanks everyone!
I have tried a lot of things over the decades, but never an accountability group. I have to admit that already I have exercised a few days this month that I probably would have skipped without this challenge. Some days it might not have been much, but at least I kept it going.10 -

How has your mindset changed because of your new healthy(ier) lifestyle, and knowledge that you've gained in your journey?
My mindset is way more positive now, and I have gotten out of all or nothing thinking. The little things do add up! Back in June I set a daily goal to do one push-up a day. For many people, this would seem pointless, like it wasn't enough.
I am now up to consistently doing three full push-ups daily! So, my mindset now is to just start somewhere. There is no waiting for when I'm good enough. Start where I am, make progress, and be amazed with where it can take you!8 -

Exercise? Yes, barely, but I did.
Track? Yes.
Calories? Again, nope. I was close after dinner, but later on just felt hungry and water wasn't doing it. So I ended up eating some crackers (okay, a lot of crackers - Wheat Thins and then graham). Sigh. Way over now.
Mindset change? I think the biggest one is that I don't mind "exercising" - granted, lately, it hasn't been as much as I should, but since I joined UAC, I'm putting a little extra "oomph" in my walk to/from the bus. On the other hand, while I'm "maintaining," I'm still not losing and I need to. I know what I need to do. I just need to change my mindset some more so I can get back to the weight loss part of all of this. But first...
This is from one of the nuttiest movies I've ever seen. "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" If you're a fan of old time SciFi, (the B-movies or worse), or are just looking for a movie to practice your best MST3K schtick, this might be the movie for you. Hahahaha! Apparently you can rent it on YouTube. Hmmmm.... I may have to think about this.
Night all!4 -
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes- Treadmill: 35 min / 2.08 mi
Apple rings closed: 17/31
How has your mindset changed because of your new healthy(ier) lifestyle, and knowledge that you've gained in your journey? I already ate healthy most of the time however exercise was never consistent in the past. Since I've been doing UAC I was able to meet the exercise component most of the time and now it's been about three months where I've not missed a day. It's no longer optional nor is it a struggle. I must go on the treadmill daily when at home and when traveling I must walk for at least 35 minutes.5 -
August 17
Yes to all three.
Walked 35 minutes; gardened and cleared 1.5 hours. Last day of the smoke/heat dome (fingers crossed) and a few days of sweet, sweet rain and cooler temperatures are promised. A heavier gardening day than normal.
Tracking helped me make some better choices for the day (and I really considered a pass day, but chose against it). Under calories.
@MaltedTea Will keep working on cracking the protein code β¦. π¨π¦
