Same, and I suppose that is why I have failed with maintenance over and over--I haven't been able to wrap my mind around the permanent "lifestyle" concept. But to be honest, in my entire life I have only known one thin person that continually tracked calories. Anyway, one step at a time I suppose. Good luck!
Actually there is an entire forum for maintenance folks. And now you know TWO or three or more "thin" persons who track calories. (there are quite a few maintainers here )
The last time I had to lose in 2017 I started focusing on the below place. I read ALL the stickies first and then I lurked until I met my goal in Oct. Then I started participating in the monthly maintainers' threads and working thru my own issues there. There is SO much knowledge and experience and altho not everyone stays I like to think that those who no longer stay on MFP are continuing to keep their weight at a healthy place.

Thank you. Even though I'm not there yet I am going to start assimilating as much about maintaining as possible. I feel like the weight loss is going to happen as I am in the zone right now and not struggling with it at all (fingers crossed), but I am turning 60 and I really, really want to stop with this cycle that started with my first diet at 12 years old.6 -

Did I exercise at least 20 minutes? I did. I rode my bike for 10.5 miles this morning (just over an hour). Going out was a leisurely uphill at about 8mph avg. Coming back, a speedier 12+mph avg. Love that downhill roll. I think it took near 40 minutes going out, but only 20 coming back. Hahahaha!
Did I track everything? I did.
Did I stay within calories? I did not.

Blood draw went well (I'm usually a hard stick, but she got it first try). Might have results tomorrow, although I think that may be unlikely, so probably Monday.
@bradkcrew, I was 9 when my mom put me on WW, so I have an idea of what you've been through. Looking back, it was a probably a ploy to get my dad to go, but who knows, maybe she really thought I needed it. She passed before I came up with the ploy theory, so I couldn't ask. Regardless, that was the start of my roller coaster dieting over the past 53 years. Sigh. This time, though, I have to make it work and I have to make it stick. Best of luck to you!

@bradkcrew @seilidhe many of us are in the same boat. But if you think about it the losing is and should be the SHORT part of the journey. Start thinking about maintaining NOW. How and when are you going to start? Are you going to slowly bump your cals up? Are you going to look at your data for the past few months and just increase at one time? I decided that since most ALL of my other losses ended in uncontrolled binging in the past that this last time I would slowly increase. I set my goal a little higher than I did in the past. I had a plan and stuck to it. I ended up continuing to slowly lose anyway and at one point I woke up and for the first time since I was a teen I realized I did not WANT to lose weight. I was happy with where I was. That was a crazy feeling and amazing. It also made me sad to think that thought had been with me for some many many decades every morning.
I know that some of my yo yo's have been over several years so it's not that I can take my thumb off the button.
So, YES, my advice always to those who are still losing is that they need to begin to create a plan and FOCUS on how are they going to maintain for the rest of their life. That is why trendy "diets" or completely cutting favorites out does not work. You can't keep it up forever.8 -

I my case is was the pediatrician. He said I would thank him when I was a teenager. He had the right idea and I did lose like 13 pounds but unfortunately I gained it back plus more. But, so began my introduction to counting calories and I can quote the calorie count of mostly any food, so tracking/calorie awareness is not really my issue. When I was in my 20s a friend was talking about a special diet that her husband had to go on due to some medical issue. She remarked that she met with a dietician because she knew nothing about calories (she was tiny), and I vividly remember thinking, "what must that be like to have never given a thought to weight?"

August 4th
I hope everyone had a good day!!
Exercise: Yup, I took a 35 minute run while my car was being inspected rather than sitting in the waiting area, so yah me for multitasking! As usual the run was miserable from start to finish, but I did it. Pretty sure my resolve and body are going to revolt on this whole running thing soon. Then this evening my son suggested I go for a walk, so even though I hadn't planned to I went 2 miles/32 minutes.
Logging: Yup. I normally will just scoop 2 Tablespoons of shredded mozzarella and call it .5 ounce, but to make sure I weighed it today. Turned out to be pretty accurate, but I am embracing the scale.
Under: Yup, another day down.
@bradkcrew someone already mentioned but your post was quite inspirational. I actually did EXACTLY the same thing on Tuesday. I had a flat from a RAZOR blade on Monday so I ended up taking my car in to the shop on Tuesday. Normally I might have hung out around the outside of the shop and precovid I for SURE would have just sat in the showroom waiting the hour. But like you I decided why not take that time and do something. I went for a walk around the shopping center and area. I even found a COOL new Jewish grocery I did not know existed that I can buy Halvah (sugarfree or not) and Memorial Candles from. It was tucked away in a new corner. Also a Dyson repair store?!! wow. I don't recall any of these places so quite interesting to walk vs just hang out in the store. I also went thru a church campus and saw a tennis court in the distance with a deer walking around it. All in all for having to get a new tire it wasnt a total loss.3 -
I also read the Maintenance strand also was losing my final 1 lbs, but I did not post … that was one of my goals to hit maintenance lol I could post there
Maintenance is the GOAL, not your “goal weight”
I was focused upon never dieting again throughout my weight loss. Everyone on MFP was losing faster than I was. I’d tell myself, “That’s okay. More energy to build muscle. Less hunger. More practice!!”6 -
