This is a new low for me. Hopefully I can continue this time and my weight doesn’t jump back up. 🤷♀️ I haven’t been doing anything different except For eating pickles to try to keep the leg cramps in check.
I’m back in the gym when I can be. I went yesterday and will go again Sunday.
Pickles are ZERO cal! Could be helping!1 -
Hi everyone. I’m Theresa and I live in downtown Toronto, Canada.
About me
I have two grown children. My daughter Elisabeth lives nearby and now far away too, with her partner, Jake. I say far away too because for the next five years they will have two homes. One here, where my daughter has a boutique ad agency and four hours away where Jake is getting his PhD. My son Phil lives in a small town an hour away with his wife, Katie, and two children. Pippa is four and Gilbert is two. I have a Havanese dog named Xavy.
My weight story
As a child, I was a healthy weight, except this one time when my next-door neighbour's grandmother babysat and introduced us to three course lunches with whipped cream on every dessert. When my children were small, I was very slim, about 120 lbs, probably from chasing them around. In my forties I was at my ideal weight, a toned 142 lbs.
Four years ago, when my granddaughter was born, I saw a photo and didn’t recognize myself. I did look like a happy nana and I’m sure I was comfy to hug, but I want to live to be a ‘little’ old lady.
In January 2018, I weighed 177.4 lbs with a goal of a toned 142 lbs. I’ve reset this to 145 lbs and toned because I when I was at 145 lbs and toned in 2020, I found that it was perfect for me.
The present
I’m generally very healthy though was diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease over the past two years. Some of the symptoms, particularly vertigo, aren’t great for exercise but I’m persistent. It accounts for some of my slow progress but I’m now on medication that reduces the severity of the vertigo, ear pressure, and tinnitus. It won’t reverse the hearing loss but I am okay with that.
I launched a new business called Ancestree Detectives this year after building it for a year and a half before that. It’s an on-demand service for DIY family historians to hire professional genealogists for as few as 30 minutes.
My August goals- Log food, water, and exercise five days a week and eat intuitively the other two
- Sleep seven to eight hours each night
- Do HIIT four days a week
- Stretch every day
My stats- Highest weight: 177.4 lbs
- Lowest weight: 6 lbs 11 ounces (see, I took that joke from Ashley)
- Lowest weight as an adult: 117 lbs (when my children were toddlers, they were super active)
- Weight now: 150.6
- Goal: 145 and toned
Welcome to everyone new!

Hello all!
I just posted my week one weight for August. I’m up 3 lbs, but I’m feeling good about it. I was in Cabo for a week and ate & drank all week, but nothing crazy. I did do some activity every day. Either walked about 4 miles or did a class at the gym, Body Sculpt on Tuesday & Abs & Glutes on Thursday. I enjoyed myself without too much weight gain.
Hope you’re having a good week!😊3 -
I hope everyone has a good week. I’ll be using this quote to help me get through the week of teaching and living a healthy lifestyle.5 -
I just spent a week in south Carolina and I'm home for the weekend. Went to a retirement pub crawl last night and tomorrow I'm headed to maine for a few days. I did get lots of steps so I'm sure that's why I didnt gain to much weight. I did try not to go to crazy with my food and drinks. That will be the same plan for this week. I did pull myself out of bed this morning to get to my zumba class, it felt good once I was there.2

Weigh In Day: Sunday
Previous Weight: 147.5
Today’s Weight: 147.8
I overindulged a bit yesterday at a horse racing event. A few too many fancy cocktails led to some junky food choices afterwards, and a bit of a hangover today. But I made myself get off the couch and go for a long walk, so there’s that at least,
I rarely wear dresses, and I have one basic one that I just pull out and out on whenever I need to, but when I tried it on this time (5 hours before the event started!) it was way too small, 😞 I raced to the mall and found a new one in time, but I’ve been beating myself up over it. I am creeping dangerously close to 150 lbs which is my highest weight ever, and I don’t feel good about that. I need to clean up my act ASAP!
Here’s a pic of me in the last-minute dress, and my friend in the gorgeous gold dress!

Well, that is a disappointment as it was going down nicely, and then I had a fight with a pizza and a packet of chocolate covered almond thins. They won.
I'm still flabbergasted as to how small things like that made me gain so much so quickly.
Anyway, this week should be better all over. I'm participating in a charity walk and the plan is to walk 50 km on Tuesday and 50 km on Wednesday. IF all goes to plan, that is 100 km (62 miles) in two days - that will be a lot of steps. We'll see how it goes though, as suddenly the weather is turning to hot and we'll have high temps on Thursday, not sure how it all will go. It sure will be a lot of steps to add next week3 -
currently on holiday so was not able to record weight or steps from last week on Sunday.0

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is doing well and had a good weekend. Thanks for the advice last week about eating back exercise calories....I did that later in the week and the weight started coming back off. I also upped my water to flush out any excess sodium.

~~ Welcome to August Week Two! ~~
We made it to the second week of August, everybody! For those of you in the northern hemisphere, I hope you're beating the heat. And for those of you in the southern, I hope your winter hasn't been too harsh thus far.
Quick Update on Me:
I'm in a bit of a fog these days, which has led to a bunch of bad food decisions, which has led to bloating, weight gain, poor sleep... lots of fun stuff. I'm betting all of these things will show in my weigh-in tomorrow (I'm gonna predict 173 lbs right now - let's see how psychic I am).
The good news is I've been here before, and I know how to lose all of the weight again, it just sucks while I'm here. So, until my brain un-fogs itself, I'm just aiming to make sure my clothes still fit properly. As long as we have that, we're good. Numbers are just numbers.
Aaaaand now for some numbers that aren't just numbers...~ (Hopefully Not) Walking On, Walking On Broken Glass ~
What's that? Our team of nine super steppers accumulated over 500k steps this week? That's insane. No way. It's the equivalent of almost 60k steps per person? But that's incredible! I'll need to see some numbers as proof.
The Leaderboard:
Over 10k Steps Per Day:
@sandielewis2001 - 82,661 total | 11,809 average
@kandi3570 - 81,286 total | 11,612 average

@lennoncpa - 56,594 total | 8,085 average
@dbrinkmeyer - 51,219 total | 7,317 average

Good work, folks. It's inspiring to see some of you returning to the step challenge week after week, regardless of how your numbers compare to the others. What matters is you're taking responsibility for your health and you're showing that results are not the product of a single day, but a conglomeration of all your efforts. Thank you for reminding us that one bad day does not indicate a bad week, bad month, or even a bad year.4 -
For some reason I am extra hungry today. Had extra for breakfast which probably was my downfall. Will not have any snacks while watching TV1

Hi Deb! Good to see you back with us! Do you want me to move you back to the weight-loss team, or would you rather stay on the cheer squad for the time being? We can log your weights no matter what, it's just a matter of if you'd rather have the weekly obligation.
heya
i WAS going to move back into the main weight loss team group BUT after seeing my doc yesterday he is upping my med again, which may mess with my appetite (again) so if if DOES and I go back to you know, not eating anything... I dont want it to mess with stats or give me a perceived 'advantage' in imaginary 'wins' (although the team as a whole might be happy with a member losing a pound a day LMAO). And, as you know per our discussions, it is something I do not recommend or condone for others in their weight loss journeys or even my own. its just a not so nice side effect of this med i need. well, nice since i do need to lose the weight and at this point my body can sustain it at this rate but you know what i mean.
so, keep me to the sideline for now, till i see what the increase in the dosage will do. it might not have any effect. we dont know. so, keep me sidelined in the support side till next month (still, ugh). ill check in then and let you know how my body has decided to react with this new dosage.
anyways, for THIS week, my current weight is 189. we can log that LOL2 -

August Week Two
Weigh In Day: Wednesdays
PW (Previous Weight): 170.4 (August 4th)
CW (Current Weight): 172.6 (August 11th)
LTD (Loss to Date): 61.4 lbs
I'm pretty good at predicting the weight of my bad decisions and bloating, it seems. Go me?
But honestly, I'm not mad about this right now. Seeing the negative impact of my choices in an official matter is exactly the kind of motivation I need to make a change. I'm going to a dinner party on Saturday, so that's where I may need to pay extra close attention to my habits, especially when it comes to alcohol and snacking.
It sucks to be back in the 170s, it sucks to know that I have more work to do, but I deadlifted 90 lbs yesterday, so I suppose I at least know that I have a good foundation of muscle hiding beneath my layers of insulation.3 -
