Sometimes this happens. In my case, I was 70lbs overweight for 45 years. The old habits are powerful or we wouldn’t have had them.
But we can be successful…by doing what you are doing:
Catching it early
Calming our fear of regain so we can
Assess what happened
And make a workable plan going forwards.
When I was still eating in restaurants, I would sometimes “try on” the actions of some of my healthier friends.
I’d pretend to be “Karen” when I ordered, I’d eat at the pace of “Jennifer”, skip dessert (and the bread basket) like “Karen”, and leave food on my plate like Diane.
Perhaps you can go on your trip & eat at those places like a normal eater. Or maybe eat at them only at lunch & every other day?
Only you know what is at the heart of that experience. Would sharing appetizer size plates work for you? Would eating yogurt & fruit in the AM & a light supper of tuna and veg back at your lodging work? Will your place have a refrigerator?
Just throwing out a lot of ideas, but if you can drill down to what is really important to you, we can usually create a solution.
Huge hugs,
