Rather than worrying about the number on the scale, pay attention to how your body is changing. Not all progress can be seen on the scale. For example gaining muscle mass can increase your weight because muscle is more dense than fat but it takes up less space than fat.
Remember, change in your body and health doesn’t boil down to that number on the scale – you are more than that!
Be proud of non scale victories. Celebrate all the wonderful changes that are happening to your body. They give you the energy that keeps the weight loss going. Keep up the good work, and don’t let the scale dictate the way you feel about yourself!
Our favorite day of the month, the 15th is when we share and celebrate our NSV's (Non-scale victories!)
What is something positive that you are experiencing?!5 -
NSV of the month: mindset shift
I just finished a long three week vacation that involved nights away, meals with family, tons of dinners out, and just a general disruption to my lifestyle. I did not use this as my normal excuse to go hog wild and lost weight over this period.
Things weren't "perfect" and this no longer drives me into a binge.
I feel my relationship with food has improved tremendously!13 -

@ashleycarole86 Ashley, this is HUGE!!!!!!! Very impressive! And how awesome that you could go on vacation and lose weight! Good for YOU!!!!! (I love following your walks on MayMyWalk, by the way!) Great job!4 -
My NSV this month has been settling back into my groove.
I was kind of doing a mental review of my timeline and it's just a weird cycle. I lost my first 40lbs Nov 2019-June 2020, gained 10lbs back the summer of 2020 and then settled back into the groove October 2020. The I lost 40lbs Nov 2020 - June 2021 (10 of it was what I had gained back) and then July hits and I veer off course and gain 10lbs back. So, here I am again in October getting back into my groove. Hopefully this is the final push, and I'll figure out how to keep the summer from throwing me off course in 2022.12 -

Kitchen Closed? Yes
Did you go "nuts" with nuts today? No (14 days -free)

This is the best time of the month
I love reading all the NSVs.
My NSV(s) relates to my Kitchen Closed? question. I am sure some of have seen this question for some time now. Well, I am here to report that it has become a habit. Once I am done my tracking for the day (most times in the morning because I pre-track) the kitchen is mentally close. That is nothing else in the kitchen enters my mouth except water, herbal tea. I now walk into my kitchen, clean it or even prep meal for the next day without thing of putting them in my mouth. It's such a good feeling.13 -
On track for 3 yes
NSVs: prioritizing sleep, in much better control of my urges to binge or have cheat days, only adding sugar to 1 out of 2 of my daily coffee, and I've been able to slide back into my cuter outfits. Feeling good!10 -

3 pass days used
Today's exercise was (surprise) a strength routine with dumbbells (Upper body B: Rows, overhead press, curls)
I've made a number of changes over the last 30 days or so in terms of how I am setting my calorie target, to the exercises I'm doing, and even changing up my meals to a degree to accommodate a low calorie burn. So far no issues and I'm actually feeling like this is very manageable. So that seems NSV worthy. I feel more like it's just doing what I have to, which is less, so it doesn't feel like a win in any way. I know it's a big deal though and proud to call it out, even if I feel just a tiny little disappointed at the same time.
Onwards though!10 -
NSV day came at the perfect time this month!
Yesterday I turned 60. The date that I had been dreading for months arrived, and instead of feeling depressed and ashamed of myself, I felt proud and content with what I have been able to achieve. On April 5th I embarked on a journey of sweeping changes and I have far surpassed every expectation that I had for myself.
So my NSV? Turning 60 didn't suck.

Pass Days Used: 2/3 (4Oct) (12Oct)
Exercise today was walking 3.5 miles after work at the chiropractor's office while waiting on the laundry.
My NSV is that I bought several cute winter sweaters and tops at the thrift store last weekend. It's been a long time since I've been able to wear "cute clothes" because I always wore tops that were very large, loose, and "blousy" so that people couldn't see my fat rolls as easily.15 -

All three complete.
My NSV I challenged myself to either Epic or Dare bee workouts this month so far I have found 2 Epic workouts that are nice to knees and elbows and I have stayed with my goal. I notice my legs are more defined … perhaps more than you want to know but it’s working for me!! I have been able to trail ride my mountain bike again with minimal effort 🚵♂️13 -
@ashleycarole86 I agree with Mrs_Hoffer, that is a very impressive win!
@bradkcrew Happy birthday, all the best in the coming year.
My NSV is not necessarily related to my MFP weight loss journey but still a win nonetheless. On Sunday, I pulled out a sleeveless top that I last wore 4 years ago. I remember catching sight of myself from the back and seeing embarrassingly HUGE back bra bulge. (I used to wear it under a cardigan thank goodness.) At the time I was probably at least 10 but possibly 15 pounds lighter than I am currently. Well I'm more comfortable with being overweight now, & I pulled the top out on Sunday to wear without a cardigan for Thanksgiving (only my non-judgemental Mother was coming over). And guess what? No huge back bra bulge - in fact very little. (Still some rolls mid-back though.) The difference? Four years ago we were living in our old house that didn't have a pool. All this swimming has toned my back! A pleasant surprise and one that will motivate me to continue with some toning back and arm exercises once the pool closes. That was a totally unexpected but happy NSV!!
Yes x 3 today. Rain again here for most of the day but at lunch it dried up for a bit. Didn't matter though, because I was prepared to go out in it for a bike ride to ensure I got my 20 minutes in (it was a light rain). I got lucky though and managed to stay dry.15 -

Exercise walk 1, run 3
I spent 4 hours tonight cleaning the garage, moving lumber to the shed, creating a pile of old furniture for bulk pick up, etc. Afterwards I wanted a cookie and I decided logging 60 minutes of light cleaning in lieu of 4 hours of heavy cleaning so I could eat said cookie was ok. 🍪9 -
@snowshoe072 Inspiring NSV, congrats! Could you share which exercises were easy on your knees please? Can they be found on YouTube? Once our pool closes, I want to get into the habit of strength training/toning exercises - something completely foreign to me.4

@bradkcrew - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎉🎂🎁🎊🎈
NSV - I was taking care of my neighbor’s dog last week. When I went in one late afternoon to feed the dog, I accidentally left the key on their counter and locked myself out but didn’t realize until I was going back later that night to give the dog a stroll and to close the dog door. It is a medium size dog with a not so big dog door and inside there is only a foot of space between the wall and the washing machine. Somehow I managed to wiggle through the dog door sideways and then get to a standing position in that little space. The combination of being small enough to fit through the dog door and fit enough to get to a standing position (thank you squats) at almost 60 amazed me - although I couldn’t fend off the dog’s kisses so … something to work on. I hope they don’t have cameras in their house. Or maybe I do, because I would love to see what I looked like.

I LOVE Everything about your NSV. I’ve read it 3 times!!! Thank you for brightening my evening❤️❤️🌈6 -
NSV - I am feeling very on top of my health & I actually love working out - cardio! Love to dance in Zumba and Dance Fitness. I am still pretty curvy but at the tender age of 60 I feel sexy and beautiful. Love getting dressed everyday and showcasing my more toned bod.
Yes to the 3 today (fun, sweaty night in Dance Fitness, 60 minutes) - Yes!9 -

Happy Birthday! This year I turned 60 as well - definitely does not suck, in fact I love it! Never felt or looked better!6 -
NSV - I feel so much better and have more energy, sleeping better, I’m calmer, have clearer thinking, I’m having an easier time focusing on tasks. I can get through workout classes without thinking, ‘this is too much’.
