Great news regarding your scans, Carla … let’s stay healthy!
I can definitely say that my five star juice is really great and it does help with the inflammation. I missed a day yesterday and I felt it.
Today I skipped breakfast well actually didn’t skip breakfast I had a salad for breakfast with some lotus rice Ramen noodles. Lunch is going to be homemade flatbread pizza and dinner I’m not sure. Can’t seem to make myself want to eat the rest of the left side meals.
Still no word from the surgical team for a date in January. I’m getting anxious of course.
I still haven’t heard back from my supervisor regarding the new schedule. I’m getting anxious about that too so lots of anxiety going on.
I had given my patio furniture away because I hated it and I just ordered some new patio furniture yesterday. I’m excited about that because once I have surgery I’ll be able to sit on my patio and my neighbors can come over easily and visit and we can have coffee together.
So I’ve been in this house for four years and we’ve never really used our patio it’s just small because I live in a little condominium patio home and everyone gets a little tiny patio but it will make for a good place for conversation and visiting when I am home.
Stay well you guys and I shall talk to you later

Thanks for both starting this new thread AND informing us that you did in the October thread. I may have spent several days there LOL. Hope you hear back about your new schedule and your surgery soon. Waiting sucks!
Happy to hear that your anti-inflammation juice is working well for you, Nance! So this is totally random and anecdotal, but my Mom mentioned something about unrefined coconut oil working topically to reduce inflammation. I haven't looked into it at all, but if you happen to have some and feel like trying it, might be worth it. Even if it doesn't do much for that, it is nice and moisturizing! You will have soft supple knees heehee
I made up a mix with coconut oil, shea butter and a selection of essential oils that I really like. I add more essential oil as I go depending on what it is for. It works great for my dry cracked feet which have totally improved over the last month or so.
Totally worth it to replace that patio furniture if you weren't happy with it. Great for neighborly visits.
got through my work testing for the day and onto my FIL's hat. Slow going. Just casting on and I already had to pull it all out! Oh well, I won't be winning any races, but eventually he'll get a warm hat for when he's gardening. He volunteers for a garden that grows all of its food for donation to food banks and meals for students.0 -
Hi all! Happy November.
Carla, just reading about all your planning and projects in last month's thread made my head spin. (Spinning like yarn hahaha) Glad to hear things aren't too scary, but cysts can be painful especially during the monthly. That's very cool your FIL does that volunteer gardening.
Nance, your patio plan sounds perfect for your recovery time! I can just picture you and Lulu on the patio greeting people walking by and offering coffee. Hope you hear about your new and improved hours soon.
Just found out secretary changed things and will actually be off tomorrow as well as Thursday and Friday. Sigh...
I'm making a big ol' stir-fry of bok choy, snow peas, carrot, green onion, sweet peppers, edamame. And will make brown rice. I will throw the kale and dandelion greens in there too since I haven't got around to cooking them and they are going to go to waste if I don't do something with them tonight.
Something I have noticed over the past couple years is that I find almost everything better with some greens added.
I'm doing juice again on Thursday and Friday or possibly Friday and Saturday. Keep saying I'm done with that, but I feel so good when I do it for a day or two. I don't know why but it seems to make me feel better all around. The time I did 3 days I didn't feel any difference at all on day 3 so I think 1 to 2 days in a week is my limit. I like food too much to juice much more often than that anyway, plus it's expensive to buy the juices. I will probably continue doing a day pretty much weekly through December, but I don't think I will continue in the new year other than maybe a couple days every month or two.
In addition to feeling better, it has done wonders for my appetite and cravings. I haven't got into the pretzels at the office in well over two weeks. I had some blue corn chips here at home. Got into them over the weekend and ate a few. I enjoyed the 4 or 5 chips and then I was done where before I would have kept eating and eating. So that's a big thing juicing has done for me as far as the cravings and compulsive eating of junky stuff.
As Nance has said, juicing does seem to help with inflammation, although I would chalk a lot of that improvement up to the overall better eating and treadmill time as well. I dropped 6 pounds in October and hoping for another 6 in November. That will get me back to my previous low where I only had 10 pounds to go to get to my ideal weight range. (Before I started gaining weight back a few years ago and have struggled with it since!)
Off to make my stir-fry. Rice is getting close to done.

love the coconut oil comment, Carla...thanks for the tip and the laugh
my gosh, Mihani...6 pounds...that is fabulous...keep it up...
here's my patio furniture... https://www.costco.com/westchester-7-piece-sectional.product.100682256.html
I will probably ask for your advice regarding living room furniture...I was thinking the sofa in white...go the whole white route...but then I was thinking grey sofa...my floor is tile and beige...and the walls I would paint white...so the theme would be grey, white and beige with accent colors...
grey sofa would be more people/dog friendly...the sofa I am looking at is from ikea...and the cushion covers are removable so you can wash them.
BUT, I think I will wait til after surgery...I have saved to cover bills during my time out...living room furniture is not in the budget until AFTER I am back...
So I have time to figure out living room.
I wrote my supervisor yesterday asking if she had a chance to speak to GM about schedule change...no answer. I will keep my comment regarding the no answer to myself.
Let me just say, since I lost my actual supervisor to cutbacks during covid...the communication from my acting supervisor (who is the really is 2 in command of the whole place), is
NON EXISTENT.
No word from surgical team yet, but I knew that...secretary to my surgeon said it would be later this week.
menu
coffee
5 star juice
salad...I kinda like having this big salad mid morning ... romaine, purple cabbage, shredded carrots, raisins, rice ramen, sprinkling of vegan parm...and a dressing I will not disclose...not Dr. Gregor approved. But I am measuring it.
I need to find an approved dressing I love...so far...nothing hits the spot
vegan lavash homemade pizza
yogurt for dessert
Maybe dive into pomegranate and see if I have learned anything from all the youtubes on how to open one easily. LOL
Off to shower and get ready for AC/HEATER man...he comes twice a year...just before cold season (I rarely use the heat...sometimes to just take the chill off in the morning...later in the season). And he comes just before summer...life would be miserable in the Valley of the Sun without a proper AC.
Wishing you guys a wonderful day. Love you and can't thank you enough for your support.

Amazing weight loss, Mihani. I read that earlier and forgot to comment on it. Fabulous!
I should watch those pomegranate videos one of these days too. I don't often get the urge for pomegranates even though they are super healthy, but it always takes me so long to get the seeds out that I usually stop after 1 or 2. (pomegranates, not 1 or 2 seeds)
You guys and your juicing. Keep up the good work!
This seems to be errands and appointments month. Heading in to town this morning to get new tires put on my car. It will take about an hour so Joe and I are going to have breakfast out.0 -
Just heard from my supervisor!
Great news!
New schedule goes into effect 11/14. Sooooooooooooo happy ! One more Sunday!0 -
Sweeeeet! congrats!!!0
-
I can't say I'm a fan of pomegranate seeds. They are okay but I don't love them. I tried because as Carla said they are super healthy, but meh. So they aren't worth the effort to me.
Love that patio furniture, Nance. Very nice. Hooray for the new hours!
Hope you enjoyed your breakfast out, Carla.
I didn't make the stir-fry because when I started looking in the fridge I had kale, dandelion greens AND collard greens. Yeesh. They needed to be used first since the bok choy I just bought a couple days ago. So I made a big skillet of water sauteed greens with onion, carrot, garlic, a couple splashes of bragg's. Picked up my juices and will do Friday and Saturday since I want to eat up the greens and brown rice tonight and tomorrow.
Think I forgot to mention that I ordered a bunch more of the Dr. McDougall hot and sour soups to get me through at work when I don't have time to cook. November and December are SO busy at the office that I don't see myself doing a lot of cooking myself. Thank goodness for my salad prepping friend.
Oh, Nance, have you tried many homemade dressings? It took me a while but I have 4 or 5 now that I like a lot and are easy to make that I rotate through. I think my favorite is a very simple ginger miso dressing that doesn't even require the blender! The latest addition to the rotation is from Shane and Simple and it's just vinaigrette that uses maple syrup for sweetener. I don't always have date sugar around to stay strict with Dr. F's guidelines but I don't get too worked up about a bit of maple syrup or even cane sugar in a recipe. For me at least, it is way more important to avoid oil than it is to worry about sugar, but I'm not that into sweets so I don't overdo them. Bread, potatoes, pasta, or things like crackers, chips and pretzels are a totally different story. I have to be very careful with those.
Missing Austin!

Woke up at two...at 3:45 decided to get coffee...hopefully a nap will be easy, after breakfast.
Really need a Costco run...they have the frozen pineapple I like ...giant bag, nothing added and the English cukes...I already have the lemon and ginger...and I use the bags of spinach from trader joe's...one half per juice.
I a going to keep my menu over the top simple for my work week...even today. I have the kitchen clean and need to keep it that way. Lots of things begin to happen next week and I am not going to have time to clean it again. It takes me awhile...cuz I can't stand that long...so I have to do it in 15 minute a time sessions...then rest and ice my knee. Ridiculous.
coffee
juice
salad
pizza
yogurt
I think this will be my work week menu: Friday - Sunday
coffee
juice
salad
pea soup
yogurt
This Monday, I will have dinner at home...probably pizza...my last Monday having dinner at home.
I am still over the moon about my new schedule. Lulu is going to get sick of me. Mihani, great idea cutting back when you are 60...you certainly do deserve that.
Going to go finish this coffee and then make my juice for the day.
later, my sweets.

I'm sticking with my journal and it is working! Our kitchen is better maintained every day instead of fits and spurts, and I have house cleaning tasks on a schedule. I missed a few days in a row of physics and math, so I'm going to set aside time today after work - it is harder to keep those up now that I have a 'making fever'.
Breakfast out yesterday was a nice change. Since covid, we've been getting it to go for the most part, but we ate in the restaurant while waiting for new tires to get put on the car. There's a little upstairs loft in the restaurant which we had to ourselves with a nice view of the street outside and area below. It feels good to have the car maintenance done and new all season tires on.
We got two estimates for getting water run from the back of our property to the shop and orchard in the front, and we've decided to move ahead with that. They'll be starting mid-month and it should only take a few days. I'll then be pretty close to running water in my studio! That is going to make a huge difference for cleaning fleece and dyeing yarn. We'll still need to get a hot water heater and hook up the plumbing inside, but I think we can manage that with some help from family.1 -
Yay for keeping things simple, Nance, and for your new hours at work!
Great job keeping up with your journal, Carla. I have a new panda planner and still haven't got around to starting it again. Very cool having water running to the shop and orchard.
Haven't decided if I am doing juice tomorrow and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. I'm planning on going to the office at least one day this weekend and doubt I'm going to have time to cook for the week so I will probably just make a batch of lentil soup to get me through. And of course salads. I'll throw lots of veggies and greens in my lentil soup so it will cover my cooked veggies.
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter and sliced banana
L - leftover greens and brown rice
D - not sure yet... probably just salad with some beans added and an apple

Got surgery date...January 17th.
Did not sleep that great last night.
today
coffee
juice
salad
juice
pea soup
yogurt
Have a great day, sweet peeps.

Let me know how you like your Panda planner once you start it, Mihani. By the time you read this you should be done answering phones for the week. Phew!
Nance, it is great news that you have your surgery scheduled.
I finished the work I planned to do for the week, so if no one messages me with requests, I have the day off. I'm going to be able to finish the knit hat for my FIL, continue winding the yarn for the shawl I'm going to weave, and work on the dark violet yarn I'm spinning. I may try to turn it into socks if I have enough yarn when I'm done. That combination of things should help me not get any one body part too sore!
I'm going to finish off the math class I'm currently taking over the next few weeks, and then wait until the New Year to take the next math class and before really tackling that Physics text book; I got through chapter one which was mostly overview and some basic concepts, but I want to wait until I'm excited for it again. This maker madness is taking over everything. As long as I can keep the kitchen and bathrooms clean, eat healthy, and get in 2 to 3 walks a day I'm going to just run with it.

Glad you got your surgery date Nance, but I can see being anxious until it is over. Sooner the better.
Carla, I have a love/hate with the panda planner. I really liked it when I was doing it, but I slacked off (as I generally do with anything like that) then I hated it because it made me feel guilty.
But it's very cool, with things that prompt you to look at the bright side, which is something I really need to do.
I'm in a bad mood but not going to vent here. But y'all can send me a virtual hug and that would be appreciated.
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter
L - frozen entree so totally not compliant though of course vegan
D - big ol' salad, an apple, some wine
I didn't start my juices today (obviously) and not sure if I'm doing them Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon.

Off in a few minutes...did great...salad and soup today. Yogurt when I get home. Hoping for a good night's sleep. Later, my sweets!0

*insert bad word here*
I just refreshed the page and lost the post that I thought I made much earlier today.
Mihani, great big *hugs* to you! Hope you are feeling better today.
Nice job choosing to go 'clean' Nance! Your pumpkin pie animation made me smile. Around here it is always ME...*I* ate the pie!
Here's one of the finished hats. I lost my mind and ordered yarn for 5 more to give as gifts for family this Christmas.
1 -
Here's the one I made a while back that I'll be gifting to my niece. Pom poms that are removable for all of the female hats. This one is hand dyed and hand spun as well.

Hi all, spent most of today lounging and reading instead of working as I should have. I am doing laundry now and will spend all day tomorrow at my desk other than treadmill time. Really should be vacuuming and mopping floors but not feeling it.
I am working several days at home this coming week. Have a number of nasty projects that I haven't been able to get to with the constant craziness in the office so I am going to stay home and get them done. So many things that have to be done before the end of the year.
Carla, love those hats! So pretty and the removable pom poms are a great idea.
Nance, hope you are feeling good today. When do your new hours at work take effect?
B - skipped it
L - ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of almond butter, blueberries with unsweetened vanilla yogurt and cinnamon
D - big ol' salad with chickpeas, shane & simple vinaigrette
Regretted the wine last night. Made me feel so sluggish this morning. I just don't seem to tolerate even small amounts of alcohol that well anymore.
0 -
Sending you a belated hug, Mihani. Hope you are better soon.
My new schedule starts a week from tomorrow. This is my last Sunday.0 -
LOVE the ski hats...that's what they look like to me...or snow hats...so so cute, Carla!0
-
MY last Sunday...having coffee then a quick run to Sprouts and Target.
Menu worked out really well yesterday...but I did have two small baked potatoes when I got home...quick wash and then poke poke poke and six minutes in microwave in wet paper towels...a dash of vegan butter...and I was in heaven.
I have an apple watch...and I have a sleep app that works on my wrist when I am sleeping. If I eat late my BPM goes into the 60...like 60- 63 ish.
When I don't eat late or bad, it stays way below...like 55-57 BPM. Last night it was 57 BPM so I think my body was restoring itself and NOT WORKING TO DIGEST FOOD.
Ok, today's juice, no spinach...
ginger, lemon, pineapple, cucumber...such a beautiful pale yellow.
coffee
juice
salad
juice
baked potatoes
yogurt
Have a great day my sweet peas!
TRIGGER WARNING: LOL0 -
Hi all, been working hard today trying to catch up a bit. It's a juice day. Just took a break to have my 3rd one. I'm a little behind schedule and need to be sure to get the next 3 in every two hours so I'm done by 7:00.
Interesting Nance, my resting heart rate has decreased since I started doing the treadmill regularly which was nice to see.

You are so good at juicing, Mihani.
Coffee
Juice
Salad
Juice
Dinner…hmmm…something very light!
Yogurt
HAGDE! 🌟0 -
Didn't have the best food day yesterday. We ordered from Whole Foods because we were out of vegan Worcestershire and a few other things we can only get there, but it is always dicey to order from them because they have a lot of vegan options that are appealing but not good for us. Couple that with Sunday morning cravings and whelp. not the best. LOL
Breakfast: coffee, last of the mini pumpkin muffins from WF. thank goodness they are gone!
L - the smoothie I should have had for breakfast
D - last of the fajita bowls0 -
Austin here!
Time to claw my way back to better health. I got off kilter a couple 0of months ago, and can't let things keep going in that direction. Okay, deep breath. I know what to do. I just have to get back in the habit of doing it. Now that I am past the big conference I helped run, there can be no excuses. I am less tolerant of a bad diet than I was a couple of years ago, darn it, but I gotta deal with what's so.
🟢 B - apples, coffee with cashew milk
🟢 L - steamed turnip greens with diced tomatoes; garbanzo beans; steamed mushrooms with nutritional yeast and diced raw onion; berry medley; small helping (weighed) raw peanut butter (added so that I could declare victory on GBOMBS for the day!)
S (planned) - sliced apple
D (planned) - big salad (romaine, apple, celery, red onion)
In other news:
- I am almost caught up on laundry. An achievement, since this last weekend involved camping.
- I did some yard work and a short walk today.
Things still do do:
- Writing (NaNoWriMo!)
- Class prep (teaching tomorrow)
- Prep food for tomorrow, so I get through Tuesday without eating any bars!0 -
Great plan for today, Nance! I love baked potatoes too. I got out of the habit of using margarine a few years ago, even vegan. I eat potatoes plain or top them with beans or salsa. I go through stages of salsa on all the foods.
Oh, Whole Foods is dangerous for sure, Carla. Although I rarely go there or order from there. I have Fresh Thyme much nearer and not so big. It took me a while to get out of the habit of grabbing "healthy" snacks while there. They really aren't that healthy.
Austin! I just mentioned the other day that I was missing you. Happy to see you. Sounds like you are busy as usual. Your menu today sounds perfect.
This is my second and last juice day for this go-round. I enjoy juice fasting honestly, and feel so great and energized when I do it. I got a ton of work done yesterday just hanging out at my desk here at home. I felt great today and got a lot done at the office. I'm working one day and a few half days at home this week so I can wrestle with some headachy projects that must be done before the end of the year.
Tomorrow evening I will be making sheet pan fajitas and a stir-fry to get me through the rest of the week. Really looking forward to my salad at lunch tomorrow after two days of juice.

Hi Mihani!
It is lovely to be welcomed back. Thank you!
Juice fasting sounds grand! I will think about that after I get a longer streak for my Dr F plan.
I had a good though imperfect day. I splurged on a coconut milk yogurt from Natural Grocer. Kinda like Whole Foods in terms of having vegan but not-so-good options. I feel you on that one, Carla. I felt good about coming home with just the one little thing, and now it's gone.
Overall, counting toay as a win. d
🟢 S - oats & cashew milk, 10 corn ships
🟢 D - big salad (romaine, apple, celery, red onion), avocado & nutritional yeast; coconut milk yogurt
Goal for tomorrow: Dr F day again!0 -
Austin! So good seeing you here again!
So, then...yesterday was the completion of my old schedule...now on to something fresh and new...
Monday and Friday 7am to 7pm
Saturday 8am to 7pm
35 hours a week.
STILL FULL TIME!
-which means benefits...I do not use their medical as I am 73 and use medicare and my supplemental is Aetna
Today's Menu:
BLACK coffee...actually prefer it now! Thanks, Carla!
4 star juice (pineapple, cucumber, lemon, ginger in the vitamix)
Just Egg with spinach, mushrooms and onion
Big Romaine salad
Roasted Veggies...Clean and Delicious just posted her tips and tricks and she totally inspired me...broc, cauli, carrots, radishes and apple (apple came from someone in the comments)
