That's awesome your knee hasn't been bothering you as much, Nance! What all do you put in your hummus? Mine is pretty basic just chickpeas, aquafaba as needed, garlic, lemon, spicy mustard, black pepper, whatever other spices sound good at the moment.

My prepper friend puts everything in separate containers and generally they last until Wednesday or Thursday. Some weeks the lettuce gets brown faster than others which is a bummer, but lettuce is like that. When that happens my "salad" is just raw veggies with no lettuce. I usually have so much that I end up cooking some of the prepped veggies with whatever greens she picks up for me. I don't have her prep the greens just asked her to pick up a couple bunches of whatever looks best and freshest each week so I know I'll have some even if I don't get to the store.

Did run to the store for some more frozen berries and a bag of frozen cherries, bananas, a box of power greens and one of baby kale and spinach. Going to use all that in smoothies for breakfast this week along with a scoop of amazing grass.

And got several big broccoli crowns to chop and roast. I do love my broccoli!

Didn't work too long today. I was tired and took a nap, then did a little cleaning and got laundry started after I got back from the store. I will have to put in a long day in the home office tomorrow, but it's okay. I needed a break. I'm feeling a little extra overwhelmed with work.

Now I'm going to make the glowing spiced lentil soup and roast the broccoli. I also want to make a bean soup with the greens that I got this week... one bunch of kale and one of turnip greens.

B - Bob's Red Mill hot cereal with blueberries, cinnamon, chia/flax mix
L - veggie wrap (lettuce, carrot, radish, peppers, homemade hummus in ezekiel tortilla)
D - glowing spiced lentil soup, sliced banana with almond butter and cinnamon

I made extra of the hot cereal so I can have that tomorrow for breakfast.

Just stopping by to say 'hi' to you gals. I'm glad you found that FB group, Nance. Interesting that Lulu loves veggies. Radar and Ruby love blueberries but I can't remember trying veggies on them other than celery which they were both unimpressed with LOL

I prefer my own hummus too, Mihani. I used to love a brand I could pick up in the store but after making my own for so long when I purchase it now it just tastes wrong.

spent a lot of my day yesterday dyeing yarn but I didn't get the results I was looking for. I'm a bit discouraged so I'm only dyeing a few things that are low maintenance and that I know will turn out well. No experiments today but maybe tomorrow I'll be up for it again! More knitting on shawl. 2 of the Christmas hats on the needles, one ready to cast off, the other just the brim started.

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday :)

You are so ambitious, Carla! You need more hands so you can knit all the hats at one time. My dog loves veggies, especially carrots, zucchini and sweet peppers.

I bought Bob's Red Mill 13 bean soup mix so I soaked two cups overnight and they are now simmering on the stove. I should have got out the instant pot but I'm still afraid of that darn thing. My plan for the beans is to saute an onion then add the beans and veggie broth, whatever spices seem right at the moment, a can of diced tomatoes, then add kale and turnip greens to wilt in. Will make a lot that can be portioned out into the freezer.

The glowing spiced lentil soup is tasty as usual. Had a big bowl last night and will portion out the rest. A couple containers for lunch today and tomorrow, the rest into the freezer. Since I made a big batch of hummus I will be using that in place of salad dressing this week.

Other than that a little bit of dusting and sweeping, and the rest of the day at my desk.

    Plan for today:
B - the rest of the hot cereal with blueberries, cinnamon, chia/flax
L - glowing spiced lentil soup
D - bean soup, an apple with a smidge of almond butter

    Today..,

    coffee
    three juices

Good job on planning ahead for surgery, Nance. Hope you had an easy day.

Stayed up a bit late last night reading so I'm tired today. I am not going to do much this evening and will get to bed early. I am trying to get a few days this week to leave at 2:00 to come home and continue work on projects.

B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter (totally forgot I planned smoothies for breakfasts this week ugh!)
L - bean soup, roasted broccoli
D - ezekiel tortilla filled with homemade hummus, lots of veggies and lettuce, bowl of blueberries with cinnamon

Got into the pretzels today. I'm always more hungry when I'm tired.

Ditto that, Mihani! I am always NOT SURE IF IT's HUNGRY, when I am tired, but I get into stuff when I am tired...like my resistence is low, my want/need/must have it is HIGH. I think it has to do with possibly hormones? Whatever it is...that is when any willpower I did have...well, it's gone!

    Lulu groom today...

    coffee
    juices
    just egg with spinach
lots of broccoli and daring chic'n
going to see if I can find vegan hot chocolate at Target

Nothing else...just still trying to get some done in the house. It takes me forever.

I have those beans in my pantry somewhere...I should make bean soup, like you did, Mihani.

Truthfully, I want everything clothes and dishes, washed a put away and I want to just hang out ... not interested in making much of anything...only because it then entails, cleaning up the mess.

    Time for coffee...

Nance, totally fatigue = hunger. There are actually studies on it I read some time ago. One strategy is drinking lots of water which does seem to help.

The bean soup was really good but I could make it better next time. I just winged it as usual but I think next time I'll add some celery and carrot and spice it up a bit more. I'll also add some liquid smoke. I usually do use that in bean soups but forgot.

I haven't been able to get home early to work on my remaining projects so far this week. Secretary has been there but the other gal has been off. Just have to do the best I can to get them all done before end of year and prioritize. It seems like I rarely get a full week fully staffed anymore. It's very frustrating. Maybe tomorrow.

B - roasted broccoli (I had to get to a 7 a.m. dentist appointment so I didn't have time to make a smoothie)
L - bean soup, wasa crackers, banana
D - hummus and veggie wrap, bowl of blueberries with cinnamon and cardamom
S - evolve vegan protein drink

I have a dentist appointment today, Mihani...how funny. I sure hope they don't find anything, because no dental procedures 30 before surgery. I have been madly flossing, water piking and brushing...fingers crossed.

Your office needs to get with it...we have people in my place that are always calling out as well. Not good work ethic in my book. Because then the work falls on the ones THAT ARE ALWAYS THERE and that is not fair.

    Coffee
juices...one to three (yesterday, just one I think) What it does is keep me from munching too much...it does really help.

Oh man, I just lost everything...was about to sign off and hit a dang key and poof, half my page went bye by. I'll be back later. catmaspressief.gif

Oh I hate when my posts go poof, Nance! Your plan sounds good. I was thinking about juicing this weekend but I think I'll wait and do it for a couple days the week after Christmas. How'd it go at the dentist?

I did manage to get home early today. Have been working in the home office for a couple hours and just taking a little break to check in. Have to get the boy to the vet at 5:30 but other than that just planning to work until bedtime. Hoping to get a little more work at home time the next couple days.

Finally made a smoothie for breakfast. I haven't had one in a long time and it tasted so good. Water, lots of power greens, blueberries, half a banana, chia/flax mix, cinnamon, a couple drops of vanilla. Yum!

Haven't had lunch yet and probably won't at this stage. I'll have dinner after I get back from the vet. Probably another hummus and veggie wrap. I stopped at the store on the way home and got clementines and grapefruit. I am craving citrus for some reason.

Oh, I bought some Natural Delights mini medjools. I had one when I got home. Very good and guiltless. I just had one and it was a nice little sweet treat.

Ok then...I did not get back...but here I am now. BUT, my coffee is ready...so I must have that first...and then I promise to get back. Speaking of citrus, I am looking for the Matsumas...Sweet Simple Vegan had some on her youtube show, and had me drooling. I guess I will get clementines/cuties if I can't find them.

    ok...c u in a bit.
    lovecoffee.gif
    Ok, then...let's continue...

My smoothies never turn out...I will try again with your formula, Mihani.

Dentist appt went fine...no problems to address now...yay.

Meals yesterday got messed up...only thing on point was my salad.

I might go to Sprouts early today and pick up more veggies...this might be TMI...but spinach and broccoli seem to be my dynamic duo to keep things moving along. Anyone have their sure fire veggie in this department?

    coffee
    three juices today
just egg, spinach, kite hill medium queso all warm and gooey in the Hot Logic
    salad with steamed broccoli
    hopefully some fruit...cuties or matsumas

Just working in the house today...right now, no sleeping knee pain, thankfully...and I am starting to do pre surgery exercises that are supposed to strengthen the quad.

Also, I have a little portable recumbent bike floor model...I just need something to put under a chair to keep it from moving...or I need a chair that does not move. I can put the bike up against the sofa in my bedroom...but when I get the chair in position, it slides. In a previous apartment, I had a good set up...not here. And I do think this will be good if I can bend my knee to get it to work now. I know for sure after surgery they want you to peddle.

    Ok, dollies...later, my sweets.
    xmousefam.gif

PS I was a little worried about after surgery home care and how to get to PT...so I put a call in to doc office...the gal that called me back said someone would be calling me ... so I think these two big things on my mind will be addressed. I am trying to get everything in order EARLY...but I think I am even too early for them. I loved that I put a message in early yesterday and I got a call back in the afternoon. That means a lot to me.

Oatmeal for the next four days…oatmeal, cinnamon, flax, blueberries…westsoy milk.

    Salad.

    Broccoli

Tea and crunch master crackers with jam for dessert

Juicing after Christmas 12/29. Somehow I must do five days to cleanse… starting the new year “pure” mainly to minimize after surgery knee pain as much as possible. Will need help making it five days…I have never even done one ! 🤯

Hi Nance, glad to hear you aren't having pain at night.

I put in a long day today just wrapped up and heading to bed. More tomorrow.

Sweet dreams, Mihani...sorry so much work for you.

I am starting to stress eat...that needs to stop.

Tomorrow, starts my four days of oatmeal...I have one more bottle of Just Egg...will use it up next weekend and then wont buy anymore for a long while. I think the oatmeal is a good idea...easy, can make lots of packs up for after surgery. Don't need to make my own almond milk...Westsoy is fine with me. The end

    night all.

Mornin' all... working from home this morning. Been at it since 6:30 and just took a little break to make a cup of tea. Going to work a couple more hours here then go to the office for a few hours. Going to be at my desk all weekend for sure.

    Plan for today...
B -ezekiel toast and a glass of low sodium V-8
L - Dr. McDougall soup, banana
    D - big ol' salad

Going to make the ginger miso dressing for this week and also have lots of goodies for a big stir-fry. Salads, stir-fry and the soups in the freezer should have me set for the week so I can concentrate on work without resorting to less than ideal choices. Will be some wine tonight with friends.

Having coffee...did sleep a bit better last night.

Day off tomorrow and I really need to step up my game and get this place in shape...I think that is where my anxiety is stemming from. It's just messy...not horrible...but not great. Cleaning gal comes Wednesday and I must have everything in order. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Tomorrow, I am going to make a list in the morning...post it here and check off everything that gets done...hope that's ok. I think my stress eating will stop if I get my sh%t together...

Also, I have to find a toilet seat riser...with arms I guess. Not able to bend knee for awhile after surgery. Anyone have any experience with this? Elderly family members? We have a couple of stores in my area...I live close to Sun City (retirement city)...so I will go in and talk to the peeps...with surgery four weeks away, I would like this checked off my to do list.

Food is not great today...there is a salad and a few green juices. I order the very little sweet ones...and spicy...so that's good. I am getting mostly vegetable nutrients as opposed to fruit.

Ok, that's it for now. I'll see you tomorrow morning with MY LIST!

    Love you guys...TC! amerxmas.gif

PS Those citrus things are called Satsuma Mandarin and I found them at Sprouts and they were not sweet. I also did buy a bag of cuties...sweet...yay!

Good morning! I slept in until 7 a.m. That's really late for me! Going to get a load of laundry done and have breakfast, then get up to my desk by 10:00. Some friends are stopping by today to drop off some stuff but they won't be staying long so it won't interrupt my work much. I think I've managed to get the really scary end of year deadlines covered and I am just going to have to prioritize on the rest and some may have to be extended and not get done until after first of year. There's only so much I can do. I have one file to work on that's going to take most of the weekend and then I'll review everything else Monday to see what can and can't be finished by year end.

Hope you get all your stuff done, Nance. I don't know about the riser for the toilet but I'm sure any medical supply place would have one and might even have someone to come over and install it for you. I assume insurance would cover it.

    Plan for today...
    B - ezekiel toast, grapefruit
L - big ol' salad, blueberries with almond milk yogurt
    D - stir-fry, brown rice, cantaloupe

I looked for the forager yogurt at the store and the ones they had were all way past best by date so I ended up with Silk yogurt. I love the Silk brand but it does have added sugar.

Sorry, I don't know about risers either. I think making a list & checking it twice ;) for your cleaning and any other surgery prep will help ease your anxiety.

I need to clean around here, too. We've been in vacation mode and haven't put in much effort in keeping the house clean and things are a bit of a disaster. It has stopped me from putting up any Christmas decor, not that I was planning on putting up a lot. All we've done so far is plugged in some laser lights outside that light up the side of the house...which we can't see from inside but had to make sure the dogs couldn't accidentally damage their eyes. At least any package delivery workers will get a bit of a display in the evening hours LOL

Mihani, hope you are able to squeeze in a day or two before Christmas to relax and get into holiday mode as best you can. I know it's a hard year with your friend's passing.

I've received a few Christmas cards from the people I was exchanging recipes with this year and I'm happy I did it. It was more work than I thought since I hand made the cards, but it's nice to get 'fun' snail mail for a change and see the photos and read letters from people I don't necessarily catch up with online. No recipes that I'll be making so far, but some family recipes in there that I'm happy to have a copy of anyway.

We had our second snowfall of the season overnight. It is cold enough to stick around for a few days, but I don't think it is deep enough to try out our little disc sled. I might attempt it anyway LOL. I'll let y'all know how that goes.

We're having the Red Lentil Cauliflower Curry for dinner. It has been too long! Great for this kind of weather and easy meals once it's been made. I'm always really tempted to have some spicy mango chutney on the side with it, it really is a delightful combo, but for good or ill, when I looked yesterday, I didn't have any in the house.

I've been out in the dye studio & shop freezing my butt off working on colorways. The heated studio doesn't have the airflow right now for a stovetop, so that has to happen out in the main shop area which isn't heated. I can mix the dyes up in the warmth but a lot of time is spent in the cold. I've been listening to Christmas music while I work.

Alright gang, you're all caught up! Love you gals!

Quick update...thanks for the suggestion, Mihani...I called the medi quip place in my neighborhood...she was so helpful...I just need to know if it a round or oblong seat...and she said for sure, with arms...and they do have someone to install. They are really close by so anything I might need that I do not think about...they will be able to deliver.

Good to see you, Carla...you two snuggled in with that cold you got going...stay warm in the studio...don't want you getting a chill.

    Back to work.

    Thanks to both of you!

update, so much for it staying cold enough for the snow to stick, it is pouring down rain and the grass is starting to show through. tmo is supposed to be sunny so it will be cooling down again.

The border crossing will have testing restrictions back in place on Tuesday, so my parents are coming over tomorrow so that we can have a little Christmas visit. I have so much cleaning to do! And I'm making pea soup and baking a Dutch goody. And gathering gifts etc. A busy day but excited to see them for the first time in almost 2 years!!

OMG Carla... I knew it had been a while but 2 years??? I am so happy you get to see your parents. Yay!!! Red lentil cauli curry... yum!

Nance, so glad you found a place to take care of you. Yay again!!!

I'm cooking up greens (for later enjoyment) and have brown rice going in the rice cooker. When the greens are done I'll get started on the stir-fry. Today got away from me. Too much work to do and I got sidetracked by some bookkeeping tasks before I got to the "real" work. Tomorrow I will spend ALL day at my desk other than a brief visit with the friends who are stopping by. They couldn't make it today.

This time of year used to be my favorite but the past 20 years not so much. It's all about work and stress. Sucks.

Yay, for a family reunion, Carla...have a wonderful Christmas visit.

And Mihani, still making great food even though you're swamped with work. Maybe there is a way to get more reliable help in the new year...or maybe the help you already have will step up to the plate. How about a heart to heart with the bosses. Thanks, Mihani...I am still sore...but will be able to get to it tomorrow morning. Just looking at the what needs picking up in the rooms on Tuesday...it should be a snap. The kitchen is always a wreck. I am really going to do my best to wash as I go...NOT use the dishwasher and use it as a drying place ... so no dishes pile up. I don't want to use another whole day to clean. The problem is, once I fix up whatever I am eating, my knees are done...so I just leave everything. Well, I am going to make it even easier for me ...

Oh, and I think I am going to order Dr. M's soup for my recovery. I understand after surgery you don't have much of an appetite (I guess cuz of the pain)...so this would be easy to just boil water and have something kinda nutritious. Also, I could put veggies in it for a boost.

My niece was looking at home delivery vegan food... THE VEGAN TASTE...too much food and too elaborate. I want oatmeal, soup, rice and beans...that kind of stuff.

    Today:

    coffee
    three juices
Please don't judge: Gardein chik'n nuggets
celery and follow your heart ranch
    broccoli and WYW cheese sauce

    the end.

Happy you got to hang out with your friends, Mihani. 6 years is a long time!

Great progress, Nance. How about some Amy's vegan bean burritos to help get you through post-surgery? They could be okay in a pinch for something simple along with some pre-washed lettuce for salad. How long are you off work after surgery?

We had a wonderful afternoon with my parents. Joe and I had the shop decorated with a little Christmas tree, lights and candles and we had Christmas music playing and lots of blankets and cushions to keep everyone warm plus a propane heater. It was a lovely sunny day, so we got to walk around the property as well. They brought their new puppy. Radar was a bit too aggressive, so he had to stay behind, but Ruby played so well with her, obviously knowing she was a little one.

My dad made me a fantastic long wood workbench on rollers with shelves underneath. It is counter height for my 'making' needs. They spoiled us with other gifts as well. I had quite the stockpile of handmade gifts for them after being apart for so long. We hope that the border restrictions will ease again soon.

That's about it. We ate a lot, but now we're going to get back on track as that was our "big" Christmas celebration and it will just be the 2 of us on Christmas.
