Along the western border of the property, there is a hedgerow of "self planted" tree... a mix of different species... spruce, fir and what might be a maple...
While dragging the debris to the compost heap, I noticed a rock peeking out of the bushes... It was bigger than I could lift but I was able to use leverage to get it into my yard cart... I added it to my growing collection of rocks for my wife's future landscaping.

Kinda looks like modern art, right?

A place for everything and everything in it's place? I replaced the tubes in the tires last week and I wanted the wheelbarrow outside of the shed so there's more room inside.
The deck is made of stamped steel. As the blades throw everything around, the likelihood of dents going through the paint and allowing rust is very real. So this undercoating designed for vehicles should help keep things intact. I'm very glad I undertook this project because the quality of the factory paint under the deck wasn't stellar. The top is nicely done but underneath where the action happens... not good.

This would be so much easier if I could see what parts are done and what needs help. Oh wait... lol
Well, there it is cleaned up... including stairs...

New wall lamp fixture...
The string of lamps was long enough to reach around the entire perimeter of the roof. Melikey!!

I only had one gallon of the deck wash as I wasn't sure it would work well.
Clearly it does made a difference... The one gallon did about half of the deck.
I went to town and grabbed a second gallon of deck wash. When I got back, the wood was mostly dry... Still looks much better!!

Second half of the deck finished...
Drying in the sun...
After my walk, I hit the beach to take a few pictures...

This was such a messy project... After I swept up the insulation, everything was still covered with dust so I vacuumed, then wiped everything down with a bucket of water.

I decided to rake out the patch where the tree which fell during the hurricane last fall with the notion of throwing down some grass seed...
I kept hitting roots and some of them wouldn't budge so I decided to dig...
Long story short, this is what I dug and chopped out... I think I'll need some topsoil to top it up...

I'm going to be having an outside entrance to the basement added so I decided to take dirt from there, screen it for rocks and use it to fill spots on the front lawn. I shovel dirt onto the screen, use the rack to work it back and forth, then push the rocks into the wagon.
Rocks are being dumped in this area which was very muddy in the spring...
The previous owner was required to replace the septic tank when it failed inspection. He decided to save a few bucks and do the backfilling himself rather than allowing the company who installed the tank to do so. To be fair, it might have sank regardless... but I've topped it up for now... and I'm working on topping up several other spots which make riding the lawnmower kinda like being on a bucking bronc.

The picture makes it look small but yeah... so much sweating...

Living room... my wife dislikes the colour of the feature wall... and not even a fan of the gray walls either... She's already primed the baseboards (they were black before) and I fixed the holes in the wall.
Meanwhile in the basement... they're breaking the floor around the perimeter of the foundation and trenching to install perforated tubing and a sump pit...

Living room in new paint. The gray is a heavy duty primer so the red doesn't bleed through.
The plan is for me to build and install a feature wall like this one...

The picture is kind of deceiving... the end wall is actually 12' wide but it looks narrower...
When i got up, my wife was busy painting white primer onto the end wall. Once that dried, I painted it with three coats of the "almond butter" off-white final colour. It took three coats to achieve uniform coverage. So much for Behr Paint...
Kinda neat how the ivory paint of the sidewalls and the almond butter compliment each other.
Once I have my basement back, I will tackle the feature wall.

Much better!!

It's coming along...
Meanwhile my wife and I started working on cleaning up the front entrance. It is kinda weird... The steps are wooden... Despite this, someone decided it was a good idea to put topsoil and mulch beside it, covering the right side of the bottom step completely... so it's now rotten. There was gravel over shale/rock and sand in front of the rest. Again, the bottom is sitting on the ground... SO we're excavating down a few inches, removing soil etc... and using the various rocks I've collected from the property to build a loose-stack rock wall.

Not bad... Definitely better than it was previously...

The previous owner took all of the curtains but left behind the curtain rods. So I installed good quality blinds. When I painted the living room recently, I removed the curtain rod & brackets, fixed the holes before painting.
Then my wife said she'd like to remount the curtain rod in the living room and get nice curtains to compliment the blinds. So we ordered curtains from Wayfair. Those arrived yesterday so I remounted the brackets and put up the curtains.

They're making up forms for the entrance well...

We removed the old curtain rod, the toilet paper holder and a towel rack... I fixed the holes and primer anyplace I thought the red paint might peek through...
So much better...
And, yes, I did level them out after I finished shovelling dirt into them...

The desk... As you can see, there are two benches and one desk... I assume it was the last bench at the end of a row of such... The desk includes a seat for the next desk... The legs each have metal brackets for securing the desk and bench to the floor.
No idea how old these are or where they came from... let alone how they ended up stuck in my parent's basement... lol

I disassembled the bench (without the desk) and started sanding. The screws are rusted and the wood is so hard, it's like they're welded in... Several broke off and now I need to figure out how to handle that.
The wood might be white oak but I'm not certain... I need to learn to "read" wood..
