Hi everyone I am a 52-year-old lawyer, single (adoptive) mom of 5 kids who finally dared to look at the scales to see that I have ballooned to 250 over the past 5 or 6 years. I gotta gotta gotta lose this weight so I can feel better and get some of my long lost energy back. Looking for support, challenges and friends.

Hi Mia, Happy to "meet you" and so glad you're here. I didn't look at a scale once during the first two years of the pandemic and got on one right before my 60th birthday (27 May) and saw that I tipped at over 200 lbs. My "normal" weight is approx. 140, so I have ballooned up big time, and can relate. I worked as a paralegal since my 20s, first as an immigration paralegal, then as a personal injury paralegal. Four years ago I switched tracks and went into academia and am now a department administrator at Yale University - so much better for well being...I am determined to get back to 140 and feel this time I can do it - the light switch has gone off in my brain, I'm eating much more mindfully, and being here at MFP is really helping to keep me accountable.
