Happy Monday, Downsizers! Here's my check-in:
5/1:
Calories: 1,145
Exercise: 70 minutes elliptical
Steps: 13,830
I had a great April - managed to close all the rings on my Apple Watch - which means I exercised every day and burned at least 500 calories each day doing so. I'm hoping that May is just as good!
@aactuallyaash Thanks so much for the friend request - looking forward to seeing all the amazing things you will do!
@lallstar Amazing loss this week! Congratulations! I see that you are going to focus on food prep this week - I food prep every week and it has made an enormous difference in my weight loss and maintenance.
@rwood566 You are my ultimate inspiration! I know you are nervous about your upcoming surgery - but I know you are going to do great - and I bet you will be so happy with the results! You know we will be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts for a quick recovery!
@Megan_smartiepants1970 Great idea with regard to listening to your body - so glad you have decided to mix up the walking with Piyo! Which Piyo classes are you taking?
@lindamtuck2018 Great steps and laps! I did get my April badge - yay! My May challenge is different than yours - I need to close all three rings on my Apple Watch for 25 days. I'm on the phone all day for work - so if I don't have to be in front of my computer, I get up and walk while I'm chatting with clients - I get a ton of steps done that way. Otherwise, I usually get 8,000 steps each time I exercise.
@Morethanjustanumber Excellent steps! Keep it up!
I hope you are all having a wonderful start to your week!

Did I forget to post the 29th? I didn’t have it added up so sorry. I have 6,856 for the 30th but I may have made a typo when I posted. Fat fingers! 😂

That is awesome closing your rings every day. Congrats on your April badge as it was a tough one. That’s a smart way to get steps. Here’s to another perfect month!1 -

This is the 2nd weekend in a row to be out of town. Previously it was with my youngest son in Indianapolis for a soccer tournament (we're from St. Louis) and this last weekend it was to move our older son back home from college at The Ohio State University as well as meet up with our oldest daughter so my wife and her could pick out a wedding dress (they found one!) so lots to celebrate but these weekends of eating out for every meal are taking a toll. We have one more trip this weekend coming up for our other daughters graduation from Indiana University. I'm happy to be celebrating these milestones but I see another week of gains in my near future (although this last one likely includes some water-weight as that's big jump for me in 1-week's time.2 -
@lindamtuck2018
I do enjoy a stroll lol. Unfortunately, the weather isn't on my side yet and I don't have too many nature walks around me so these steps are from one of the longest aerobics youtube video video I've done so far, an hour and 20 minutes!1 -
@lindamtuck2018
It’s a half not a full marathon (I’m not crazy). I have done maybe 6 (probably 2-3 of those walking at least some significant portion with friends). But the last one was in Nov. 2017– I have struggled to train at this higher altitude - about 6,800 ft here in Santa Fe. I was at just under 5,000 ft when I lived in CO and was training often.1 -
good evening everyone.
check in for 5/2:
steps - 3412
calories - 1757 or so. lots of snacking at home while on the phone. ugh.
exercise - none. spent most of the day trying to find out if my surgery was covered by the v.a. on hold most of the afternoon only to be disconnected when they picked up. luckily it supposedly is. guess i'll find out for sure after they cut on me.2 -

Happy Tuesday, Downsizers!
5/2:
Calories: 1,191
Exercise: 70 minutes elliptical
Steps: 19,772
@rwood566 That sounds really frustrating - I hope you get the correct information before your surgery!
@lindamtuck2018 @Morethanjustanumber Great steps - keep it up!
@jimboden3 It's so difficult to stay on track when traveling and celebrating - but it sounds like you will get back on track
@Jpedno I think half marathons are the perfect length - I'm hoping to get back to doing them soon
I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Had a fabulous Birthday! Thanks to those wished me so. Even though the scale is saying the opposite my clothes are actually looser. So I am in the throughs of some recomp. I like what I am seeing. Now if the scale would stop with the mind game.
My miles are adding up for the year 672.4 miles/ 2022 miles This is steps, bike, paddle, swim, you name the activity if it is measurable. It is a lot. On my recumbent just mindlessly pedaling while watching TV is how I am getting the most miles. Not a lot of sweat but effort yes.5 -

A huge round of applause to all of our steppers - So. Many. April. Steps! As always, major thanks to @Megan_smartiepants1970 for tracking everything for us!

@peng123
Great exercise day! Nice loss!
@tahm42
I hear you on the bloat. Sodium got me but when I bloat from sodium my clothes get tight until the water weight is gone. I can usually tell what the scale is going to say before I get on it because when I have had too much sodium my fingers and face are puffy.
You are doing awesome with your mileage goal. Keep on stepping, biking, swimming, hiking, etc. Glad you had a good birthday.
@aactuallyaash
Nice loss! Can you do me a big favour and put your past weight first. Keeps me from making a mistake when I enter it in the spreadsheet.
@Jpedno
You should be impressed. Nice steps. You mentioning about your marathon training got me thinking about a 5k I did quite a few years ago. It was called the colour run and I had a blast. At every km they sprayed a different colour at you. Not a very serious run and certainly not close to a half marathon but fun.
@rwood566
Way to get some fun in before your surgery.

Heading to the pool early today as I have a lot to get done. Increasing my steps is not going to well as I am just in too much pain so I am not going to stress about the badge.3 -

@lindamtuck2018 when I bloat from allergens it is all of joints and they ache like rheumatoid arthritis. My legs feet arms and hands puff. Not so much through the body, but I will swell through there after repeated bouts of allergen intake, but that is when my lungs begin to fill with fluid. So , yeah I avoid that as much as possible. I just can't believe how miserable food can make a person feel when the body retaliates. This isn't full blown exposure, this was only a bite here and bite there. I may starve next week just not to feel this bad. Although my lungs had marked better function at the pool today. I had repeated splits of less that 2 mins/100m. So yeah my allergies are a thing and I should avoid them as much as possible.2

That ache is not a good ache. Do you have RA? My splits are all over the place. It also depends on the stroke I am doing. I looked at my swim the other day and my average for that swim was 2 minutes and it was a 1400 meter swim. I need to start looking at that more often and try and improve. With people in the pool it can slow me down as I am dodging them. My times are way better when I am in the pool alone. Today I gave up after 5 minutes because of too many people. One of the ladies stopped me in middle of my swim to dive to the bottom of the pool and get what was there. That’s when I gave up. Hello people, I am exercising!2 -
@tahm42
You inspired me to look into a swim team. I sent an email to get more information. I am not sure if you have to be at a certain level to join the swim team.2 -
@lindamtuck2018 Fortunately for me the YMCA doesn't require that you be a certain level. They taylor it to the athlete. My lane buddy cannot swim fly so he does a free with only 2 breaths instead. He also does only half the kick drills because it takes him so long. He is a great sport and is very fast on his free. The others that are there really push me to swim harder. Your pool should have designated lap lanes. geesh. That would make me crazy. But even swim team was crowded Monday. I think everyone showed up. Today there were 5 of us and we had a whole lane to ourselves. I was slower but I kept up with the youngest today, she only beat me to the wall by a few body lengths. On Monday they made us start a few times which means from the blocks. I had not done that in 30 years! First one was great the second was a belly flop. It hurt my scar! But swim team is fun and it does push you.
I don't have RA but my allergies are more auto immune than typical allergies and I ache every where. ALL of my joints. I move around like an ancient.2
