Marilyn, it was probably 4 years ago now that I did a massive clearing out of my house. It took me weeks to finish a little each evening and on weekends. I went through every single inch of this house. Every closet, drawer, nook and cranny. Got rid of loads of furniture and "stuff".
I read for a while and took a long nap. Getting ready to eat a big ol' salad for dinner. Thinking of Dreena's punchy mustard vinaigrette for dressing this week. It's so easy to make. I was going to make pita pizzas but I forgot to thaw out ezekiel pitas and I slept too long. It was a nice day off today. It's good for my brain not to think much about work for a day now and then.
Can't believe we're almost to August! I am a little over 6 weeks of going to the exercise classes regularly. I'm so happy to have found this place. The trainers are all fun and really know what they are doing. My shoulder is actually improving somewhat, and I'm looking forward to starting PT next week. We're also going to work on my back issues.

Just saw the other posts after posting mine.
Spring, I was in the credit card trap for years so I've been very careful since finally paying them all off and only have one now, but the vet bills have run it up.
Carla, I recall the black bean pasta did that to me. Yikes! LOL Chickpea and lentil pasta aren't so bad. At least your pizza turned out tasty!

Speaking of wasting money, I am in the middle of cleaning out my freezer and pantry. SO much food going in the trash. Will have everything better organized and know what I already have on hand now. I found 3 bags of chia/flax seeds and had just bought another one because I thought I was out. Thankfully they are all still good.
I was going to go to the office today but I just don't have it in me. Last week was rough. I'll get some work done here at home after I get done with my kitchen organizing project.

Hope you're enjoying your day at home, Mihani.
I started my day off with some cleaning followed by a workout on the treadmill. It makes for a good day all around. It's been two days in a row now and I'm going to try to keep it up.
Stopped my post for 30 minutes to take the dogs for a walk. They didn't go in the morning because Joe was out there by 6am weed whacking and mowing. Here it is now noon and there wasn't a great deal of shade to be found. Added to my step count at least, and now the dogs can have a little siesta while we get through the worst of the day's heat in comfort.
In another week or so we should be getting a decent load of blackberries. One of our few successful crops this year and it is an invasive weed lol. We've had a bit of a heat wave this last week and our corn, squash and beans have been loving it. We have a total of 3 peaches on our peach tree and after a few years without any, we are not complaining. I hope to get a bite of one this year!
I have the banza pasta now so tonight we're going to make our usual veggie red sauce with baked tofu and walnut parm with the new pasta. I have high hopes. Honestly, as long as I can tolerate it (and I don't see why not since I was happy although gassy with the bean pizza crust), I will use the banza moving forward. It isn't difficult to make two separate pots of pasta if Joe doesn't like it.
Okay, those are my ramblings for the day! Hope yall are having a good one!0 -
Carla - fart pizza LOL
Mihani - hope your PT goes well next week
I got a workout this morning - DH found some used wood on FB marketplace so we went to pick it up to make a walkway in our backyard (we've been looking for this for a while). It was a large pile and, since many of the pieces were over 8', we had to cut them to 8. Spent about 1 hour in the hot sun cutting and stacking it into the truck. We actually left two of the long boards behind because we just couldn't do anymore. But, we have plenty for what we want to do.0 -

Mihani - I put my flax seeds, chia seeds, sun flower seeds and nuts in clear glass containers (recycled) so I can see what I have on hand. Went to a Vegan restaurant yesterday for brunch and they had the walls lined with shelves with glass jars of food. It looked so pretty. I am jealous of you being able to lift weights. Good for you. I think my biggest mistake when I was training for those triathlons was not taking in protein shakes to help my muscles. I love the new blender. Speaking of finding things: a coworker of Brooks had sent us two big bags of Vanilla Vegan protein powder by Airborne last year. I never opened it as our kitchen in Japan was so small. Did not want lug the Vitamix out. It is rather good. Especially with blueberries.
Carla - you can kinda expect Banza pasta to do the same until you get use to it...I don't think as bad. I made a pesto type pasta dish last night with my basil plant and herbs and olive oil. My sister sent me a chickpea cook book yesterday (the sister who is a baker for a vegan restaurant in NM). I have a big bag of chickpea beans but haven't ground them up yet. How did you do it? I was thinking my vitamix.
Sparky - I hear you about retirement home. We want to retire to a small city (San Antonio has 1.5 million people) where we can walk or ride bikes to the grocery store. Don't know where that would be. We really like Burlington, VT and Bellingham, WA so far.
Marilynn - I agree about going out to eat. In Japan & Italy they don't tip and food is fresher. Our brunch yesterday was easily $25 - 30 per person and not that great. The vegan waffles were dry and chewy...almost $20.00 a plate. I have bought the vegan waffle mix from Trader Joe's and made better waffles. Plus the food is more expensive and they want higher tips. The waitress was not listening to us and 3 times had to go back to the kitchen...plus a snooty attitude. Our friends took us out and I was so embarrassed I picked this place.
Short bike ride this a.m. Was just not feeling it.
Came home and made my matcha green tea latte that I became addicted to. Matcha green tea from Japan mixed with 1/2 cup of boiling water and then added 1/2 cup of almond milk frothed. I started on the green tea kick for Brooks because it is suppose to help oral cancer and now I love it.

Nice you found the wood you needed to build your walkway, Spring. That sounds like a lot of work!
Carla, how did your banza turn out? Woohoo on the treadmill habit!
Bisky, I usually keep my chia seeds and nuts in the small drawer in the fridge after they are opened which is fine except my pantry was such a mess I couldn't see that I had more when I used up the open bag. It's all very nicely organized now and as long as I don't go buying stuff I don't need it will stay that way. I threw out all the flour and sugar because they were so old. I won't replace those things unless I actually need them, which probably won't be until the holidays. Love all the pics from Japan. Looks so beautiful there.
Nanc, is the juicing helping your joints?
I ordered an energy/focus supplement by the same company where I'm now getting my protein powder. It has matcha green tea plus aminos just mix with water. I started drinking coffee again and going to give it up again. I figured I could have this first thing in the morning before I get on the treadmill. Won't arrive until today so having my last coffee morning.
Plan for today (and for the week):
Matcha green tea supplement am before treadmill
Breakfast at office: oats with cherries, 4 walnut halves, cinnamon
Lunch big ol' salad (this week lettuce, beet, radish, tomato, orange pepper, cooked collards and onions, tablespoon of sunflower seeds, chickpeas, Dreena's punchy mustard vinaigrette)
Dinner a smoothie after workout (water, power greens, tablespoon chia/flax, frozen mixed berries, couple slices frozen banana, vegan protein powder)
If I need something else I'll throw in an apple and/or ezekiel toast with a smidge of PB.

August thread is up!
Mihani, not really...as you know left knee was replaced in January...right knee is ok...not great...maybe more juicing will help. Juicing does help me sleep better.0
