I forgot to put my starting weight! It’s if the starting weight when we joined this group!? If so mine was 206.8.
If it’s from the start of this month it will be the 197.

Great loss @shaunarlr83 !
@Cornanda you can do it, just stay mindful.
My 5 mile hike this morning was great! Already a very high step count to start the week. Weight has been flat, but I feel more fit and energized and I’m just excited to be alive!3 -
@Cornanda Top Gun Maverick was great, we both loved it! I loved your self-talk, you said everything and more that I was going to say when first reading your post by the end. I think you're doing great, it gets complicated especially with things like birthdays and vacations but finding a balance is so important. I still don't know how to do it myself so I liked reading it!
Woohoo, we're third place on Week 5! Way to go @shaunarlr83 @19shmoo69 @leti126 @TeresaW1020 @trooworld way to go gang!
@TeresaW1020 I hope your back is better soon, I'm sorry to hear you've been in pain.
@shaunarlr83 Frozen fruit is awesome, when I did paleo I'd roll them in cocoa powder, ones like grapes and bananas are so sweet your don't miss chocolate with cocoa powder though they're great just frozen too.
@bethanie0825 Definitely show this month who's boss!
@happysquidmuffin I'm definitely going to save that Cowboy Caviar recipe, we got a lot of great recipes posted all at once I don't know what to try first! So happy to hear you're enjoying how great you're feeling, it's so wonderful when you get to that point.
@barbylucedistelle Keep reminding yourself your dog is counting on you for the walks, it helps when you aren't just doing it for yourself. Plus I always think of how proud I am when I go through with exercising to push through it again and not give up.
Hi gang, happy Labor Day! Have the house to myself again, the weekend was really fun. We went to the food bank farm Saturday then came home and cleaned up and went to Folsom to the farmer's market and walked around downtown and shopped then came back and rested and ate and went to see Top Gun Maverick. Sunday I got him into Cobra Kai and we went a few places and fed my brother's cat then went and got Blizzards at Diary Queen last night then watched Inception on Netflix, have you seen that @Vegan4lyfe2012 ? Weird movie, I was scared I'd have nightmares but I slept through the night thank goodness. I got back to working out today, my flare-up is improving finally and today was my first day working out a bit more, I'll probably try weights again tomorrow. I'd planned to keep exercise on the first day at the farm and walking, yesterday I just did stretching and core, today I started adding cardio back in and it went well. We BBQed today and I ate fairly healthy aside of popcorn at the movies and the Blizzard but I'm not looking forward to my weigh-in at the pain clinic tomorrow between that and hormone issues! OK team, let's have a wonderful week!

Yesterday I mostly ate well, did a 3 mile walk plus a HIIT step and strength workout. We leave tomorrow night!

So sorry I missed last week's weigh in. Hubby said let's go on a trip and of course I said let's go. I didn't watch any calories or anything on this trip so now it's time to get back to work. This trip was so needed and we enjoyed just a change of pace and scenery. It was a win, win!

Good morning all! Quick drive by to wish everyone a great day. Holiday yesterday so it feels like Monday.
Have a good one!1 -
Thank you @trooworld I'm feeling really great and owe it all to this team!!
I’ve made a cheat sheet in my notes of everyones profile name so it’s quicker to copy and paste the tags and know your real names and which area of the country you’re from! 😂
I’m not a stalker lol just like to take an actual interest and imagine what your seeing when you say your out and about! I have actually met one MFP friend in real life, she lives in central California. We have hung out twice, the first time she was able to take me as a guest to her spin class, my first, and the second was after the pandemic and she was part of a boot camp group that went around to all of the different little parks and used whatever they had available to get a workout in. Really was the funnest time I’ve ever had working out! Since then life has been happening super fast and we haven’t talked too much, she has started a new relationship and moved to another town and I know exactly how life can get in the way. I was searching desperately for new active friends and I hit the jackpot find this challenge group! I don’t have many real life friends so I hold all of you up on a pedastal!! Y’all really are what keeps me going when no one in my day to day seems to care, understand, or really even know what goes through my mind all of the time! Thank y’all for being great!
Sorry for getting so sappy. Things have been easy and going great at home, I’ve been cleaning and focusing on my goals. Not doing too much to get overwhelmed and taking plenty of breaks. Yesterday was the first time I’ve really had to fight off cravings. We stayed up late binge watching Netflix and usually I eat to stay awake. Did cave for a mini bag of popcorn about 1am but I burned a part of it so didn’t even eat the whole 100 calories. My resistance and willpower is finally coming back!! Feels good!6 -
@broncobuddee I would like to change my date to Mondays. Fridays seem to not be working for me to log in here!

Intro: Hello my SlimPeeps! My name is Jennifer and I am a 48 year old single mom of 3 adult children. I live in beautiful Southwest Michigan, right across the Lake from Chicago. My son, Marcus, is 26 and in the Navy, stationed in Virginia and his wife is Ashley. My oldest daughter, Sydney, is 25 and lives about 45 minutes south of me with her husband Nick. My youngest daughter, Hunter, is 22 and just moved into a new townhouse with her fiancé, Michael. She’s about 35 minutes south of me. My daughters are living about 20 minutes away from each other, so I’m thankful they are so close to each other. I am a new empty-nester, so I’m enjoying my quiet time with my sweet American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm an active member of my church (Board member), and also love horror movies and books. I have worked in Community Development at my County for over 17 years. I’m trying to break free of my food addictions and self-sabotage.
2022 Mantra: 50x50 & NO ZERO DAYS!
(50x50 is my goal to lose 50 pounds by my 50th Birthday and No Zero Days is based off an article that was shared on here previously. It’s the idea that, as long as you’ve accomplished something, then you didn’t have a zero day. No need to do it all…just a little is better than nothing.)

@trooworld – I love frozen grapes! I’ve been eating a cup of them every night for my snack!
@shaunarlr83 – I personally think the seedless red grapes are far superior than green when frozen
And not trying to be mean, but LOL on the burnt popcorn…so goes life, right?
@happysquidmuffin – So glad the Cowboy Caviar was a hit!
@Katmary71 – Not only have I watched Inception, but I own it
I’ve watched it 3 times now and catch something I missed before each time.
I had a lot of time in my craft room over the long holiday weekend…made 48 cards! If anyone would like a random card, just send me a friend request. After we’re friends, then we can private message so I can get your name & address. There are a few people in this group that have done this and I love to surprise them with a handmade card. And I have a couple thank yous to throw out, too!
@TeresaW1020 and @Katmary71 - Thank you both for the surprises of greetings in my mailbox! Your notes were so sweet and unexpected… I am truly blessed to have found this great group!
I am super excited about my 3 pound loss this past weigh-in. And on Sunday I stopped at a local store in my village and ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in about 7 or 8 years. She recently moved…to my village! We are going to be evening walking partners whenever she has the chance. We’ll be able to chat and get caught up and get the blood pumping…win/win! I’m also excited to tell you all that the laser treatments on my ankle is working! The pins and needles are getting less and less and the pain is subsiding, too! Bonus – doctor said after the treatments on my ankle, he wants to work on my back and my insurance will cover it! Woot Woot!

Not much to report. It's super hot here and I'm staying inside and just goofing off a lot, playing my game and reading. My flare is better but my knees are super bad and I will be asking for shots tomorrow when I see the rheumatologist. I saw the Dentist today for a check up and cleaning. All is good.
I'm so proud of everyone for making such smart choices when it's not easy. Congrats to our team members for representing our Team the leaderboard.2 -
Im going too vent. If you're not into vents then please scroll past.
I do not know how to stay motivated or disciplined. Nowadays I get a week or two and then I don't move and sit and eat junk. I cannot think of how I did it before. I would like a trainer, a gym membership and/or somebody to physically do this with. I cannot afford any of it.
It used to be a struggle but now it's worse.
Thanks for listening or scrolling past.7 -
Congrats to everyone last month on awesome losses and commitments! I’ve been a little MIA as I’ve been back into the swing with back to school but trying my best to stay committed to my goals.
@19shmoo69 venting is totally normal and good to do. Finding the motivation is super difficult and I don’t have an answer for you as I struggle with this weekly as well. But know the team is here to support you however we can!
@shaunarlr83 i think that’s great that you have made some true friends on here! You’re journey has seemed like it’s going amazing and I love seeing your posts and accomplishments.
Welcome to all the newcomers! Here’s to another amazing month!4 -
@19shmoo69
I hear you. I was in that slump for 4 years. When you’re in the groove it goes so well. When you lose track it feels impossible. I wish I could figure out how to find the motivation and willpower to stick to it. Try not to be too hard on yourself.4 -
@Cornanda Have a safe trip!
@askewcr So glad you had a wonderful trip, welcome back!
@megnolia82 Have a great one! I agree, I'm thrown from the vacation too, I keep thinking it's Monday!
@trooworld I'm so glad you have your Ninja Foodi, sounds like you did well with meal planning on the spot!
@shaunarlr83 That's a great idea to take notes, a lot of the time once I know someone's name I forget their handle name and it throws me. I'm so glad you had the chance to meet a friend from here, how fun!I have a couple nearby friends but haven't met one yet. Did you find anything good on Netflix? I introduced my guy to Cobra Kai, we watched the first season when he was here, he'd never seen it before.
@vegan4lyfe2012 How funny, figures you'd already seen Inception, I'd read good reviews on Google about it so I wanted to check it out. You made some serious cards, how fun! I'm so happy to hear the laser treatments are helping your ankle, how wonderful! Get that thing fixed up so you can do some fun walks with your friend, that's perfect timing to feel better and run into her.
@happysquidmuffin I'm glad it's not a gain too, so glad you're part of us now.
@FushiaKat It's crazy hot in CA! I'm glad your flare has improved but hope your rheumatologist agrees with the injections so you have less knee pain.
@19shmoo69 Please vent away! What about trying the month check-in with us with a couple small goals or just one? One of the things that helped me when I was gaining a lot from steroids after my relapse was letting myself maintain instead of trying to lose, I had so much going on cutting back what I was eating was making me eat more so maintaining was pretty freeing for a bit and caused less bingeing from steroid and stress cravings.
@leti126 Glad you're doing well sticking with your goals with school starting, you got this!
Hi team! Today was my first day back lifting weights and it went well. I'm going to scratch lifting more from my September goal since doing so flared me up and set me back so I'll just be meditating this month. Had my pain clinic appointment and the PA was gone so I saw the doctor again and he's really trying to get me to do the spinal cord stimulator trial but I'm not at a place where I want to do it though of course less pain would be wonderful! I'm finally going completely off the sleep anti-depressant and onto the one for nerve pain so it will be interesting to see how I feel once it's over plus the old one people tend to gain on so I'll see if I can eat a little more or not after this. Not much else to report, we hit 116 today so it's SO HOT it's nuts! Have a wonderful Wednesday! Off to meditate!2 -
Morning all, today is my birthday, we started celebrating yesterday, my calories count went off the roof and I’m afraid today will be another day more or less the same. My mother in law is staying with us and she’s saying I should be celebrating without thinking about my weight but I feel if I’m not determined I’ll never reach my goal.
I almost reached 10,000 steps yesterday, I need to push more. If I don’t get my *kitten* up those steps will not come on their own.
I went to the gym though, I’ll go again this week to get started with a plan.
@19shmoo69 Staying motivated or disciplined is also my biggest problem. I used to pay someone 150 pounds per month to keep me on track. It worked, it was great but now I realised I need to commit to myself rather that someone else. I find coming back to this group, reading everybody’s story and posting mine is keeping me motivated. I usually give up after 2 weeks, I hope to keep coming!!!
It’s past 8am here and I’m still in bed reading posts, I better get going!
Congrats team on the achievement!

I think I’ll try to be realistic for once today. Since it’s my birthday we’re going away to a hotel spa on the beach with my husband, kids will stay with my in-laws. Hence my goal for today will be to not go waaaaaay too off my daily intake.
That’s it, I said it. More than anything else I just want to relax and enjoy the day.2 -
Only got a minute-
@trooworld - No of course I wouldn't say those things to a friend! It will be a pain to be without your range, but I'm sure you will come up with some creative ideas. Looking forward to hearing about it.
Congrats to everyone on losses! That's awesome!
@shaunarlr83 - what a great idea to make a cheat sheet. Love it! Glad things are going well now that you are home.
@19shmoo69 - I don't have any magic answers for you. Negative self talk will get you no where fast though. Be kind to yourself. Pick one thing to work on this week and then you can build on it. I often get paralyzed by getting started. You got this. We all screw up. Hugs to you!
@vegan4lyfe2012 - How cool that you have a new walking buddy!
@Katmary71 - hope things go well with the med change.
@barbylucedistelle - Happy Birthday! Good plan- enjoy your day without eating like a maniac!
Bon voyage- probably won't "see" ya'll until I get back. Or I might have to post about how much crap food MIL has.
Lisa

@barbylucedistelle – HAPPY HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!!
@Cornanda – Good luck! I’m praying for you to make good choices!
@trooworld – Thanks for the article link. I’m going to actually save it this time
And yay/boo on the circuit breaker being the fix. I had a somewhat similar experience. I had a large roaster (pre-vegan days) and was making the Thanksgiving turkey. After several hours, it wasn’t cooking and I realized the roaster was barely warm to the touch. My (now ex) took the turkey out to cook it in the oven and threw the roaster away. Then the next day I realized the breaker on that wall had been tripped and was only half way on. So mad that a perfectly good expensive roaster (that doubled as a 3 compartment serving unit) was thrown away. My ex was always quick to throw things out instead of holding on for a day or two, which is what I usually did. Glad I finally threw that abusive guy out like he did the roaster…
Whew! I sure did digress there! Sorry, Chris! Let’s talk about movies…@Katmary71 & @trooworld you both like TWD, right? How about the TV show LOST? Those are 2 that rank up there in my Top 10. I just found a movie with Josh Holloway, Michael Rooker and Sarah Wayne Callies called Whisper. It was fairly predictable, but at least it didn’t have the typical ending you’d expect. It’s from 2007 and I hadn’t heard of it. Hunter saw a preview on another movie and told me she wanted to see it, so I grabbed a copy off eBay for about $4. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435528/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_6
There’s lots of other horror movies coming out soon that I am really looking forward to – Black Wood, Resurrection, The Summoned, The Breach, Sin Eater, Barbarian, Smile, We Put the World to Sleep, and Fall. It’s gonna be an awesome scary season!!! Also looking forward to Winnie the Pooh Blood & Honey whenever that goes into production
Anyone else planning on seeing any of these?
Alright. I better get motivated. My friend loaned me her hedge trimmer a couple months ago and said she wasn’t going to need it all summer and to not rush. So I didn’t. And now she needs it back and I still have my Burning Bush that’s out of control. Definitely wearing my FitBit for this job!
Later, Peeps! And keep hydrated – this heat is ridiculous!

Darren, what if it isn’t a vent and is an observation? Personal observations and data collecting are the best tools here. Some people start with lists of now vs then, obstacles vs steps forward, reasons to continue when it’s getting tough, etc.
You said that 2 weeks always go well for you- would you consider a maintenance week every third week? It may appear as a slower progress, but without backsliding, it could lead to better progress.
Best of luck to you!

Thank you all for the encouraging words.
@GabiV125 I don't do maintenance. It's either on/off or go/stop. I really struggle with the grey areas. I also struggle with the gray areas.
When ppl do rest days, mine turn in to rest weeks and months. The same is with cheat meals.

Hi I’m everyone, I am going well and have started posts for here so many times but never got to completing them - things are busy! But mostly good busy, and I’m keeping up with my goals and looking forward to being able to post positive results tomorrow 😁. I had to change my workout plan because unexpected events came up, but got it done - having these specific goals has definitely helped keep me on track.1
-
There are so many people here! Which is awesome and exactly what I was hoping to find, but no idea how I’m going to keep up with everyone! So I have some time today and am hoping to get myself sorted with a checklist for my weekly and daily goals for easier access, and the comments from @shaunalr83 made me smile - that sort of thing is totally necessary if you want to keep names and activities straight ! 😂 However I think for now will just read and comment as time permits, and hopefully get to know people as time goes on.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I like the idea of No Zero Days. Will remember that one - thanks (and thanks for the link @trooworld, will have a look when I’m done here). I own a copy of Inception too. We watched it with the kids a couple of months ago. Made my sons head spin (he is a math/science nerd). I have to say though that I was sucked in for most of lost, really enjoyed it, but I am so so so dark on the final season and felt so angry like the whole thing was a total waste of my time!! I was in my 20s and can still feel the anger bubble when I think about how much I hated the ending 😂. Yay for the loss! And yay for the gain (of the old friend 😊). I always find it funny when you guys talk about living in “villages”. We don’t use that term here and to me a village is made up of tiny huts in the middle of nowhere. After a second my brain kicks in and I remember the rest of the world uses the word differently, but it still makes me smile.
@19shmoo69. Sorry to hear you are in a slump, I definitely understand the struggle and know it well myself. Been at this weight and health journey my whole life and know all too well the ups and downs, and how much the downs suck - it’s like a crash after a high sometimes and can be so depressing. I wish I had some miracle advice but best I can offer really is “this too shall pass” and the knowledge that you are not alone in the struggle. Maybe pick one thing, anything, just one thing that is achievable - easy even - and do it every day till you feel you can commit to another. One step and one day at a time.
@barbylucedistelle Happy birthday!! I hope you had a really lovely time at the spa. The rest of your post has prompted more thoughts and a bit of a rant on my part so I’m going to try to make it coherent and might post again later 😊.3 -
@Tamevv - You made me literally LOL! Nope, not a village with huts! I'm in Michigan where there are 3 types of municipalities - villages, townships and cities. Villages are small areas with condensed populations that are incorporated within townships. Basically, like a mini-city. Mine has a population of around 850 in a space that is about 3/4 of a mile squared.

Here's a picture of my "downtown" area looking North. I live about 1/5 of a mile from it. And yes, First Street really is made of brick. It's quaint. I've lived here about 25 years now.
And here's the opposite direction:
1 -
@barbylucedistelle Happy birthday! I hope you're able to relax and enjoy it!
@Cornanda I remember thinking how hard it would be to diet around your MIL last time you were around her, good luck on your trip!
@trooworld Congratulations on saving money, I'd be a little bummed too as you were probably excited for the new stove but the money saved is awesome.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I haven't gotten into TWD yet but I definitely enjoyed Lost! I remember last year you had a list of horror movies for October, are you going to do that again? I haven't heard of most of the ones you listed. Good luck with the hedge trimmer! I love seeing your town, the buildings are really pretty.
@Tamevv Sounds like you did a good job of making things work, sometimes when unexpected things come up it ruins the entire plan so you're doing awesome! You don't have to reply to everyone when you check in, you'll get to know everyone in time. It took me awhile too in the beginning and I still struggle sometimes at the start of month if a lot of new people join or sometimes just because my memory isn't the best.
Hi everyone! I managed to do my workout but didn't push myself too hard with weights again. I went to my favorite nursery to pick up a donation for Bow Wow Days in a couple weeks where we'll be raising money for an animal shelter in Sacramento and collecting food for various shelters. They gave a real cute planter with succulents and of course I left with more plants, I got Brussel Sprouts, Swiss chard, spinach, an English thyme (have one already but use it a lot) and tarragon plus a gift card for my Dad's birthday, he's turning 80 next weekend. Not much else going on, kind of tired from the medication change. Have a great Thursday!0
