Darren, what if it isn’t a vent and is an observation? Personal observations and data collecting are the best tools here. Some people start with lists of now vs then, obstacles vs steps forward, reasons to continue when it’s getting tough, etc.
You said that 2 weeks always go well for you- would you consider a maintenance week every third week? It may appear as a slower progress, but without backsliding, it could lead to better progress.
    Best of luck to you!

Thank you all for the encouraging words.

@GabiV125 I don't do maintenance. It's either on/off or go/stop. I really struggle with the grey areas. I also struggle with the gray areas.

When ppl do rest days, mine turn in to rest weeks and months. The same is with cheat meals.

Hi I’m everyone, I am going well and have started posts for here so many times but never got to completing them - things are busy! But mostly good busy, and I’m keeping up with my goals and looking forward to being able to post positive results tomorrow 😁. I had to change my workout plan because unexpected events came up, but got it done - having these specific goals has definitely helped keep me on track.

There are so many people here! Which is awesome and exactly what I was hoping to find, but no idea how I’m going to keep up with everyone! So I have some time today and am hoping to get myself sorted with a checklist for my weekly and daily goals for easier access, and the comments from @shaunalr83 made me smile - that sort of thing is totally necessary if you want to keep names and activities straight ! 😂 However I think for now will just read and comment as time permits, and hopefully get to know people as time goes on.

@vegan4lyfe2012 I like the idea of No Zero Days. Will remember that one - thanks (and thanks for the link @trooworld, will have a look when I’m done here). I own a copy of Inception too. We watched it with the kids a couple of months ago. Made my sons head spin (he is a math/science nerd). I have to say though that I was sucked in for most of lost, really enjoyed it, but I am so so so dark on the final season and felt so angry like the whole thing was a total waste of my time!! I was in my 20s and can still feel the anger bubble when I think about how much I hated the ending 😂. Yay for the loss! And yay for the gain (of the old friend 😊). I always find it funny when you guys talk about living in “villages”. We don’t use that term here and to me a village is made up of tiny huts in the middle of nowhere. After a second my brain kicks in and I remember the rest of the world uses the word differently, but it still makes me smile.

@19shmoo69. Sorry to hear you are in a slump, I definitely understand the struggle and know it well myself. Been at this weight and health journey my whole life and know all too well the ups and downs, and how much the downs suck - it’s like a crash after a high sometimes and can be so depressing. I wish I had some miracle advice but best I can offer really is “this too shall pass” and the knowledge that you are not alone in the struggle. Maybe pick one thing, anything, just one thing that is achievable - easy even - and do it every day till you feel you can commit to another. One step and one day at a time.

@barbylucedistelle Happy birthday!! I hope you had a really lovely time at the spa. The rest of your post has prompted more thoughts and a bit of a rant on my part so I’m going to try to make it coherent and might post again later 😊.

@Tamevv - You made me literally LOL! Nope, not a village with huts! I'm in Michigan where there are 3 types of municipalities - villages, townships and cities. Villages are small areas with condensed populations that are incorporated within townships. Basically, like a mini-city. Mine has a population of around 850 in a space that is about 3/4 of a mile squared.
Here's a picture of my "downtown" area looking North. I live about 1/5 of a mile from it. And yes, First Street really is made of brick. It's quaint. I've lived here about 25 years now.

@barbylucedistelle Happy birthday! I hope you're able to relax and enjoy it!

@Cornanda I remember thinking how hard it would be to diet around your MIL last time you were around her, good luck on your trip!

@trooworld Congratulations on saving money, I'd be a little bummed too as you were probably excited for the new stove but the money saved is awesome.

@vegan4lyfe2012 I haven't gotten into TWD yet but I definitely enjoyed Lost! I remember last year you had a list of horror movies for October, are you going to do that again? I haven't heard of most of the ones you listed. Good luck with the hedge trimmer! I love seeing your town, the buildings are really pretty.

@Tamevv Sounds like you did a good job of making things work, sometimes when unexpected things come up it ruins the entire plan so you're doing awesome! You don't have to reply to everyone when you check in, you'll get to know everyone in time. It took me awhile too in the beginning and I still struggle sometimes at the start of month if a lot of new people join or sometimes just because my memory isn't the best.

Hi everyone! I managed to do my workout but didn't push myself too hard with weights again. I went to my favorite nursery to pick up a donation for Bow Wow Days in a couple weeks where we'll be raising money for an animal shelter in Sacramento and collecting food for various shelters. They gave a real cute planter with succulents and of course I left with more plants, I got Brussel Sprouts, Swiss chard, spinach, an English thyme (have one already but use it a lot) and tarragon plus a gift card for my Dad's birthday, he's turning 80 next weekend. Not much else going on, kind of tired from the medication change. Have a great Thursday!

    Step Count Check-In

    2nd - 8637
    3rd - 2291
    4th - 2430
    5th - 15747
    6th - 20844
    7th - 2536

I'm Beth. I just turned 38 a few weeks ago and have a college freshman step-son. I live in Central NC with my hubby. I've been a 911 dispatcher for 14 years. For the past 2 years, I've worked PT at a grocery store pushing carts on my days off from dispatch so I can work twds being out of debt.

I've been on MFP for several years. My highest recorded weight was 256. I was at 232 when I started back up here on the team in August but my weight has snuck up the past few weeks. I wasn't tracking my food and being lazy. So I'm back on it (again for the millionth time) and working back into be more active.

I am currently training someone at 911 which for at least 2-3 more weeks, requires me to be sitting right next to her and connected to her headset by a cord. This has killed my steps at work but hopefully once released, I'll be able to take a break again and actually leave the center for a bit and walk outside. She is the third trainee I've had in 18 months; one quit and one couldn't pass training so we had to let her go. My current trainee has experience and is already surpassed her training counterparts and she's only been here 3 weeks lol.

Part of being more active is also being more active our chat. It gives me some motivation.

@vegan4lyfe2012 You are most welcome! Oh that would be a bummer about the roaster. I'm glad you got rid of him, too! I used to watch TWD but haven't for years. I never watched LOST. I love Michael Rooker, I'll have to check out Whisper. I've not heard of it either. I will watch whichever comes on my streaming services, I don't really go to the actual movies. Are you reading Stephen King's new book, Fairy Tale? I got it for Audible but haven't started it yet, I'm going to listen to it with my husband. Good luck with the hedge trimmer situation! Your village does look quaint. I'm very much from a small town in Ohio, I know what small-town living is like!

@19shmoo69 I was thinking of you yesterday. I had a suggestion but now I forget what I wanted to tell you. I'll come back if I remember. Can you do small achievable goals to get some wins under your belt? Do you think that would motivate you? Those types of things motivate me.

@Tamevv Way to adjust and concur! WTG! As for keeping up, just do what you can. :D

@Katmary71 Thank you! Yes, the new stove had a built-in air fryer and convection and self-cleaning so I am super bummed! That planter you posted on your feed is super cute. Have a great Thursday!

@bethanie0825 Great step count average! Thanks for chiming in.

Hi all. I tripped over a pillow that had fallen off the bed in the middle of the night and fell and man, my back is jacked and so is my knee. I hit my head, too, but it is okay. I have an appointment with a weight loss specialist doctor to discuss possibilities, including medications and surgery. I don't want surgery, but I'll listen to what he says.

I’m Gabi 50 yo from Northern VA, married half my life, have two kids almost grown, a dog, a cat and a desk job 😁.
Humidity and heat have not been my friends this summer, but the dog needs walking so I went even when was not in the mood.
I’m trying to change my sedentary ways, hopefully to postpone health issues while getting rid of the last 15 and is not exactly easy. I’m a numbers person therefore very black or white (I either did it or I didn’t) but MFP taught me that it’s much more pleasant to make it an experiment and not a battle.
I enjoyed this group for 2y and cheered you from the sidelines as I’m notoriously bad at responding to people.
Have a nice and productive weekend everyone!

@trooworld I've never been goal oriented.
I heard a Army General speak on TV once. He said if you set the goal of making your bed when you get up and follow through with it, it sets the day up for continuing to make your daily goals. He said he wakes up makes his bed and says first goal accomplished now to the next goal. When I heard that I was like YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to bed. I got up in the morning and made the bed,90° corners and everything. Fluffed the pillows in shams. Decorated the bed. It was pretty when I was done. I made breakfast and watched TV. I did nothing else the rest of the day. In my head it wasn't an accomplishment all I did was make the bed. Granted my wife did ask me that next time I made the bed like that to let her get out of bed first.

@Bethanie0825 I'm glad you're back and glad this trainee seems more promising, that would be perfect if you could go walking. I remember you usually smoked the rest of us at steps too!

@trooworld Let us know if Fairy Tale is good! I was thinking of rereading some of his earlier books but am on an urban fantasy right now. Oh no, your fall doesn't sound good, I hope you're feeling better soon. I hope things go well with the weight loss specialist.

@19shmoo69 You're too funny, if you make the bed like my Mom your wife was trapped in that tightly made bed!

Hi everyone! Not much to report, I dropped off the donation for the charity then did Walmart pickup. I made pumpkin banana bread that I'm just realizing must've had a mistake when I converted it on here as it's more than 100 calories more a serving so I need to figure that out. Did chair cardio, arms and ab strength training, and stretching this morning. Not much else, it's the last day of this heat wave so I tried to stay inside. Have a great Friday!

    Weekly check in:
    Weekly check in:

    PW: 78.4
    CW: 77.6

    Exercise 30mins every day -YES
Added - Burn 500cals every day - YES
Under calorie goal 3 times - YES
    Record a loss - YES
    Step class -YES

Note that I am using my cal goal without including any bonuses due to exercise. My reasoning for this is partly because I’ve learned through past efforts that if it “eat my exercise” I do not lose weight, so while I’m in an active losing focus this is better for me. The other aspect to it is that I know I will not be able to keep up this strict exercise routine long term, but I do want to keep my eating habits long term, so I need to ensure I am able to still meet goal once my exercise peters off.

    Hi everyone!

I’m still a little overwhelmed at all the names and stats. I love the idea of making a spreadsheet so I’ll have to do that this weekend because I really do want to reply to everyone individually!

I had another good day today. I really hope this is one of those times it just sticks, the good eating, the calorie tracking…. So far so good.

I hope you’re all doing well. I’ll talk to you soon!

Hi @megnolia82 👋. That’s all, just saying hi. There’s usually no one around this time of day for me - I’m in Australia and I think you must all be in bed, so it’s nice to see someone else to interact with in the afternoon 😊. I’m about to head off for a step class (just to my living room). Looking forward to “seeing”you around 😊

@GabiV125 I think the heat and humidity are making us all a bit cranky (at least, speaking for myself, it is!). Have a great weekend!

@19shmoo69 LOL! I love your sense of humor, Darren.

@Katmary71 It may be a while before I get to it, we are listening to another book right now and we tend to be slow about finishing books when we listen together. But I will! Yeah, my back and knee hurt, it sucks. Thanks. Pumpkin banana bread sounds amazing! We have that hurricane coming in today and tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to that. Daisy was supposed to have a photo shoot tomorrow, I guess that might be canceled.

@Tamevv Congrats on the loss and excellent job on your goals!

@megnolia82 We do tend to be a chatty bunch and there are a lot of people. I understand being overwhelmed. Congrats on a good day!

    @davors19 Congrats on the loss!

@davidji82 Hello, my friend! Have a great weekend!

Hello all. My back and knee are still tweaked from falling. I had a good but eye-opening visit with the weight loss specialist doctor. I found out I am pre-diabetic. It really bummed me out. He wants me to exercise 3 hours a week. He said I wouldn't be a good candidate for weight loss surgery because of my bipolar II, he said people with bipolar tend to gain the weight back due to the medications they are on. He said one of my medications is a notorious weight-gainer, it causes increased hunger. He is going to try to get my insurance to cover Saxenda. If that doesn't work, there is something else he has in mind.

We are expecting a rare hurricane here in Southern California. We need the rain but we have leaky windows, so I'm not looking forward to it. But maybe it will cool down some.

@trooworld I’ve been thinking about your struggle with meditation (you always seem to drink enough water but not be able to meditate). How bout each time you drink a glass of water (or your first water of the day, or your last - or whichever you do intentionally) that after you drink, you take 10 seconds to close your eyes and count your breathing, or count for 5 deep breaths - in and out, that’s all. It’s a start right? And it would count as a non-zero day 😉

Hey, just wanted to check in. I’m not doing great at my 7 days in a row under calories goal… I overrate big time Wednesday night and tonight. The similarities both times included not drinking enough water, so I was really thirsty and confusing thirst for hunger, plus having sugary food from my parents house when picking up kids after work. Wednesday it was cookie dough… like 7-8 scoops, plus it was movie night with pizza. Today my mom sent us home with orange-cinnamon rolls. Dripping with frosting. Still HOT OUT OF THE OVEN you guys. Eating one for dinner became one and a half plus unmeasured handfuls of salted pistachios plus buttered bread. The cinnamon rolls were so good, but I should have eaten some dinner first. And drank more water. At least I got out of the house once kids were in bed and I ran more than two miles. I feel like the 7-day streak goal puts me in an all or nothing mindset (oops, going to go over today, might as well stuff my face!) so I’m removing that as a goal for myself.
I feel your pain, Darren! Sometimes it’s so tough! Thanks for making us laugh.
    Tomorrow is a new day.

@askewcr Happy Birthday!!! And congrats on the loss.

I realized I wrote this yesterday in my notes and forgot to post! Woops

Here is my weigh in for the week. I have been struggling with snacking this week and consistently tracking. It’s been a busy week but I did do well continuing to get some workouts in. Hoping to plan out more meals for the next week and prepackaged some snacks to help with boredom/ stress cravings. What’s your go to higher protein lower calorie snacks? Slaty and sweet!

    Have a great week everyone!
