I decided to drink some beer last night and I'm regretting that. I don't have any tolerance anymore after quitting for 90 days. Now I have a headache and feel sluggish but I have lots of office work to do plus finish laundry and cleaning the house. Sigh... must soldier on!

Feeling those workouts this morning. A lot of upper body work in strength class so my shoulders and arms are kind of achy. Not really painful just tired.

Oh, good idea to put the sign on the plates, Spring! Glad you are enjoying your classes and liked your latest instructor. I like switching up the classes to have different trainers. They each bring a different energy.

Carla, have you asked your doctor about your foot? How are you doing with getting all your stuff done before you leave?

I thought I was seeing things yesterday in classes and felt dizzy. It dawned on me that my new glasses have some sparkly material on the ear pieces and I think between the windows and fluorescent lights the sparkly stuff was reflecting off the lenses and causing the problem. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses so I'm going to switch back to my old glasses for classes. Yeesh, glad I figured it out and it's not hallucinations. LOL

I almost forgot last night, but after 5 minutes of ineffectively trying to mash the beans with a fork I remembered that last time I threw the beans and can of sauce into the ninja personal blender. Easy peasy and you get a nice smooth sauce. Pita pizzas were awesome.

Just a flyby...sorry gang...Lulu is five today...lots of fun stuff planned for her...but first a walk (and I slept pretty well last night so I am so jazzed).

After a walk, I go to the sauna, then back home to do some chores and get Lulu to the groomer.

Then off to my work for a visit ... one manager, in particular, loves to joke with her. Call her a giraffe because she has the longest legs...and she started out as an itty bitty thing...anyway, she has a party dress and well, gotta make her princess for a day!

Then it is off to Petco to let her pick out a gift...then home time and rest and then one more walk around the neighborhood IN HER BIRTHDAY DRESS!

    Treats...not too much...carrots, apples...we'll see.

She had her teeth cleaned last month...looking good for a five-year-old. I need to really start brushing them. -

    And that's the Lulu update.

    today's plan

    cofffee with NP
    oatmeal my usual
    gardein burger on Ezekiel
salad ... and use little seaweed snacks to make baby sushi roll up. jazmine rice and soy beans are featured
    ninja creami for dessert

have a delicious day everyone...will catch up later. sorry for the rush.

Spring, I love your suggestion! I got up before even starting this reply and put my note in the bowls we'll be using tonight.
Kind of nice that you can spontaneously take a class if you want to. I generally like to plan things out in advance, but every so often when I feel up for something that I know is good for me, I'll drop what I'm doing and just get it done. Errands, workouts, phone calls, etc. That way I don't have time to work myself up over it.

Sorry you aren't feeling great today, Mihani. Reason enough to avoid drinking. I am going to have to come up with a game plan for in Mexico. How's your doggo doing today? I'm also enjoying signing up with different instructors for my spanish class.

Happy birthday to Lulu! I do hope there will be a picture of the birthday girl in her outfit for our viewing pleasure. Woohoo on getting a good sleep.

Little Miss Lulu is five years old…groomed with party dress and morning pre grooming walk. She most certainly is my best little buddy!

Mihani, I haven't had a drink for over 30 days now and I feel much better in the morning. I would usually wake up feeling hazy and sluggish, now I have much more energy and alertness first thing in the AM.
    The pita pizzas sound delicious.
Magic, Happy Birthday to Lulu!! What a cutie she is, although she doesn't look quite as happy in the tutu as she does in the birthday bandana, LOL. Congrats on the good sleep, I hope it continues for you.
Carla, I like to plan things too and, since I'm trying to get a solid workout routine into place, I need to set up a specific plan. But, I do like that I can just show up every so often for something, especially if I've missed a regularly planned class.
Hope everyone has a happy, healthy and fun-filled week!

What a cutie she is! Love the pics, thanks Nanc. Is that a park or a golf course? it looks very well maintained.

We successfully consumed a salad before dinner yesterday. Just putting the note in the bowl was enough that I didn't forget this time.

Tonight will likely be a stir fry with leftover baked italian tofu. I'll try to convince myself to make quinoa instead of noodles. No promises. ;)

I just had a spanish class this morning. It is starting to get a little more fun and interesting now that we can ask each other questions and joke around a bit. It is interesting to see how other people make word choices and which words come up a lot in conversations. The teacher this time was very chill and I was able to relax more than any of the previous classes to date. Another class tomorrow morning. Still haven't had the opportunity to take a class from the same teacher more than once, but that is more because of the restrictions I put on classes. I only want them first thing in the morning when my brain is still functioning!

I don't quite want to commit to not drinking while in Mexico, but I am thinking along those lines. Alcohol is not my friend in general, and I don't need to add sugary high calorie drinks along with it. They have something called agua fresca (fresh water i think) which is water mixed with fresh fruit juice and it is sold everywhere, so that could be my go-to.

Nanc, Lulu looks so cute and that is so sweet you went all out for her birthday.

Spring, the 90 days of no drinking wasn't difficult, but ever since I let myself have that first one when my 90 days was up I've been starting to want to drink on Saturday again although it's not every week. It has been a few years since I indulged during the week other than once in a great while since I can't cope with not being 100% at work. At least I'm not back to drinking on Friday, since that would kill me with three classes first thing Saturday morning. LOL

But yeah, it's not helping me reach my overall fitness goals. I am meeting up with friends on Friday (and definitely won't have more than one with classes scheduled Saturday) then I will go back to none at all until Thanksgiving when I'm sure I'll have a couple glasses of wine.

Carla, I would definitely have difficulty not drinking on vacation, at least I think I would. I haven't taken a vacation in so many years! Glad your classes are getting more interesting as you go along. Is Joe taking the classes too?

Not much new around here. Joe and I went out for a nice breakfast out and it was a bit of a calorie splurge, not to mention several hours earlier than we normally eat. I am not working this week but I need to get some cleaning done today. My parents are coming over for a coffee in the afternoon tomorrow.

We're having red lentil cauli curry for dinner.
    aaaaaaaaaand that's a wrap!

Hey all! Busy busy week. I scheduled for a later Tuesday class for the next few weeks so I can stay at the office later and still have time to get home and let the boy out and feed him before I go to class. We're just in a big crunch right now and the end of the year is rapidly approaching so I'm a bit panicky, but going to stick with my workouts!

Carla, love red lentil cauliflower curry! Haven't made that in a while. Glad you had a nice breakfast, and hope you have a good visit with your folks.

Back at it. Brought work home to do.

Carla, glad the note in the bowl helped. Sounds like you're doing great with the Spanish lessons.
Mihani and Carla, I don't think I could go a whole vacation alcohol free either. But since my fall I've been abstaining and probably will for some time. Although, Halloween is my favorite holiday so I may pick up a bottle of wine to enjoy while handing out candy ;) . We'll see.
Marilyn, thanks for all the warm, kind sayings. Hope things are going okay with you.

Spring, no way I could go on a vacation without alcohol. If I ever take one I fully intend to drink. A lot. LOL

Am I remembering correctly that you moved to your neighborhood fairly recently? Wondering how many kids you might get. I haven't given out candy for quite a few years since everyone else in the office had kids or grandkids and wanted to do the Halloween thing with them so I covered the office for them to leave early.

I have had a rough couple days. Not feeling very well. The weather changes always mess with my sinuses and allergies. Not bad enough to prevent me from working and doing things, but enough to make me not enjoy anything.

Did manage to get to the grocery on the way home. Got broccoli which I haven't made in a few weeks and I am soooo looking forward to roasted broccoli tomorrow and for a few days after. I haven't been eating as well lately and really need to get back to good habits there.

Morning gang...sorry I have been absent so much.

Thank you for the kind words about Lulú...she had a great time visiting my coworkers and the dealership...she is a bit shy, especially with men...so I need to bring her in more often.

This is my last Monday off of my first 40-hour vacation...(I get one more 40 hours off before next September) I want to do the same thing in January...hoping to have my right knee replaced in February so that would set me up with some very good habits before going under the knife. MORE walks with Lulu and more saunas...just more good stuff all around.

Today is my birthday dinner with my sister and BIL...Pita Jungle...Mediterranean cuisine...so lots of good stuff for everyone...they love it and I am in veg heaven!

But first, walk with my girl and then sauna and then laundry...lots of laundry.

Carla, when is your trip to Mexico?

Hope you're feeling better, Mihani...saw you were a bit off the other day.

I am finally out of the 150s...for good this time! By just one pound but I'm there. My goal is 135 and then I will reassess.

You young people...(I just turned 74 on the 13th) get that weight off now and make life-long healthy habits because it is soooooooooooooooooooo hard ... this is the hardest it has ever been for me to lose. Lord have mercy.

    Today's Plan

    coffee with NP
    veg sushi
raw veg with some kind of dip
    lunch/dinner out
if I have dessert, it will be Ninja Creami strawberry/banana/maple syrup

PS I bought the Ninja Creami a couple of months ago...I needed something to help me with my after-work food attack.

It's working. All three meals are at work and then a on-plan type "ice cream" when I get home...very satisfying.

I bought it at Costco ($149 on sale)...the best return policy. Since I bought mine, they have come up with a new and improved model...more functions. I did not need that. Happy with my purchase..and I had a $70 shop card..so that was super.

    Make today delicious everyone!

Mihani, Sorry to hear you were feeling under the weather, so to speak. I hope it's passed, or at least lessened.
We just moved here end of last November. A couple of neighbors told us they usually get about 20 or so kids, so I think we'll plan on 'feeding' 30 and then shut the lights down for the night.
Magic, great to see you again, and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! Congrats on getting out of the 150s. I've been hanging around in the high 140s for a while, but can't seem to get into the low or even mid 140s. Age is definitely a factor and I'm in my early 60s.
The Ninja Creami looks like fun.
We're still working on our clearing our yard of a bunch of brush/bushes. We generally work every other day or so (when I don't have a gym day). It's hard work, but starting to look nicer. I'll post a couple of pictures once we get a bigger section cleared.

Hi JNettie, how's your WFPB life going so far? Glad to have you here. :)

Yay for the 140s Nanc! I am still trying to get there. Been bouncing around between 150 and 153 for a month now. Glad to hear you and Lulu enjoyed your birthdays.

Spring, that sounds like hard work on the yard. I am definitely getting closer to moving to a condo. I just don't want to do the yard work and clearing snow and etc. anymore.

Started feeling better by yesterday and got a fair amount of work done, along with a few loads of laundry. Did some food prep on Saturday. Mashed potatoes and greens, roasted broccoli. Will get my raw greens in with smoothies this week since I put my salad prepper on pause for a bit. The increased price on everything is killing my budget so I am cutting back where I can.

A great little hack I made up today...well, I am sure I am not the only one that does this...but here's the story...

In Sprouts about ready to pick up refried beans...expensive!

I have black beans, organic at that, and salt-free at home. I will make my own. Looked up a recipe or two...looked great but I wanted even more simple than the ones I found...so:

Into the Vitamix my rinsed and drained can of beans went...along with my TJ's corn chili salsa and pickled jalapenos...blend blend blend...VOILA>

    REFRIED BEANS WERE SOOOOOOO DELISH!

Never again buying refried beans. I happened to have WESTBRAE no salt-added organic black beans that I picked up on sale a while back.

    A TOTAL WIN!

Belated bday wishes, Nanc! I hope you treated yourself as well as you did Lulu on her birthday :)
I've made refried beans from some IP beans plus other ingredients. Your recipe is nice and quick, so I will give it a try next time, thanks.

Hi @JNettie73 welcome to the group! Very casual here, tips and updates posted here in the monthly chat. Where are you from?

Mihani, hopefully prices calm down and you can have your prepper assistant back soon.

It has been smoky here for the last week or so. We haven't had rain here since a sprinkle back in August maybe. We even had temps in the low 80s this last week, I guess because the smoke is trapping the heat. A normal temperature range for October in this area is 50 to 59 degrees.

The smoke has kept us inside day and night and I haven't done any treadmill workouts either. This morning I put on a mask and took the dogs out for a loop around the property but I don't want them to be out there in the smoke either.

We're having spaghetti again tonight. Our rotation has gone out the window for the most part and looks more like: a meal in the rotation, spaghetti, a meal in the rotation, spaghetti... lol oh well. at least it is filled with good ingredients and now that I'm having the bean pasta I feel better about that part of it too.

Hi @JNettie73, welcome to the group and to the monthly chat. Feel free to chime in anytime.
    Mihani, glad you're feeling better.
That condo idea is sounding pretty good right now. Turns out that the very productive day of yard work on Sunday rewarded me with poison ivy!! Felt some itching on my face yesterday but there weren't little bumps so I thought it may have been some kind of bug bite. But this morning I woke up with poison ivy rash (I know because I've had it twice before) on my wrists, neck and in my belly button - not quite sure how it ended up there! And the swelling under my eye extended onto my eyelid. I went to the doctor this afternoon and got a cortisone shot; will be picking up follow-up pills tomorrow.
This morning my poor DH dejectedly said 'I guess we're not doing anymore yard work'. I said 'are you crazy, I'm gonna have cortisone coursing through my veins for a few days, I want to do as much as we can humanly get done this week before it wears off!' :D.
Magic, your refried bean hack sounds delicious. Unfortunately I don't have a TJs near me, but I can probably find something comparable.
Carla, sorry hear the smoke is back and so bad. It really stinks when something we have no control over throws a wrench in our workout plans. At least your meal rotation is at 50%. Maybe you could make the bean pasta part of your normal rotation, then you'd be back to 100%, LOL.

Mihani, things seem even more bananas than usual for you at work. I hope you are able to catch up on sleep and eating real meals soon. Take care of yourself *hugs*

Spring, you're hilarious. I hope you accomplish all you hope to and more while that cortisone is coursing through your veins. (Sorry it happened though). In my head I'm imagining some sort of gardening super-hero costume.

The smoke is expected to dissipate by Thursday evening. There's also a big rainstorm coming this weekend that is going to be strong. It is the first of the year and because there are still lots of leaves on the trees they will catch the wind and bring even more trees and branches down than usual. The ground is bone dry so I think there will be flooding too. BUT, once the wind dies down we can start taking the dogs out more regularly again and that will be nice. Even if we're ankle deep in puddles.

I use https://www.copymethat.com/ to 'grab' recipes from websites. I used the free version for a long time and it works really well. If you don't already have a good system, I recommend this one. If anyone starts using it let me know and we can share recipes.

    One guess on breakfast!
One guess as to my dinner plans!

Oh no, Spring! Sorry about the poison ivy. I am highly allergic to it and got to where I knew the second I saw a bump I better get to the doctor or I'd have it all over and my eyes would swell shut. But yeah, totally get the cortisone thing. I had a love/hate with steroids when I was having my back problems. Definitely helped with my back, and I got TONS done from all that energy, but I was a raging b---- at times. LOL

Nanc, glad you and Lulu both enjoyed your birthdays. Your black bean trick sounds great, thanks! Your menus always sound so delicious.

Carla, hope the smoke does clear up for you. I remember you talking about copymethat a while ago and I used it for a while. Will have to look at that again. Are you making progress on your to-do list before your trip?

And yeah, work is freaking insane. I haven't been to a weekday strength class in a couple weeks but still doing my Saturday classes, although I don't know about this Saturday. My boss has a cold and has managed to pass it along to me. Sore throat and stuffy. This time of year ugh! But I have to figure out how to keep up with eating right and classes or exercise at home no matter what. I already threw out all my bigger clothes so I can't gain weight!

I think I'll do grocery delivery tomorrow just to save myself some time and I'll put together a very simple plan for the coming week.

Oh, and I wasn't enjoying the mashed potatoes I made last weekend and it dawned on me yesterday I forgot the nooch! How in the world I did that I don't know, but they definitely need the nooch.

Carla, glad to hear your smoke is going to dissipate, I hope you don't get too much water. I'll post a pic of my yard work "superhero costume" LOL.
Mihani, started the prednisone this morning. I hope I don't start raging :D . Poison ivy spreads very quickly on my as well. DH isn't affected at all by it :* Sorry to hear about the cold, boy, first the allergies and now a cold - you can't seem to catch a break. At least you have a plan to keep up with the exercise. I hope you get better quickly.

GM, mates...up in the middle of the night...oh well. Looking up some vegan CBD gummies for sleep...I think there might be one product out there I have not tried.

Spring, any salsa that you love will do. It really is a fast hack...not like making refried beans for real. But that's what a hack is. And, boy did it taste great.

Colds, stuffy noses, poison ivy. Ay ya ya! Get better, y'all.

The last day of my weekend. I worked on the kitchen yesterday...it's clean and somewhat organized. My organizer is coming back for three, four-hour sessions in November...to get me ON POINT before knee replacement surgery in February. I have my appointment with the surgeon on November 9th to start setting up appointments.

    Today's menu:

coffee (tossed the nutpod AGAIN, Carla) ...using organic soy milk, frothed. Not the same, but I need to tweak a few things to keep me going in the right direction. I would like to be at 135 for surgery. It would just make rehab that much easier. I had a new low yesterday of 147.8 but it will bounce around for a while and then hoping it will settle into THAT new number.

I'm 74...trust me, losing does not get easier...so do it now, while you all are young...well, younger than me!

oatmeal with blueberries, unsweetened soy milk
    air fried zucchini
homemade vegan minestrone ...using a recipe from Vegan Blueberry...it is so good...she uses pasta sauce as one of the ingredients... making it scrumptious...perfect for weight loss...lots of water and nonstarchy veg.
component salad (carrots, purple cabbage, cilantro, herb lettuce, edamame, green onions...maybe jasmine rice)
    ninja creami for dessert

ok, kids...do make your day delicious...hope everyone feels better soon!

    Today's Menu:

    coffee
    overnight oats (pumpkin)
vegan minestrone with spinach (recipe is from Vegan Blueberry...love it...easy and makes a lot)
zucchini air fried with a bit of parm shreds
    apple
    ninja creami

Hoping I go back to sleep for awhile...work day.

    Later, mates.

6 am here. Just got back from the emergency room. Joe woke up at 2 am with a rapid erratic heartbeat. He is doing better now - his heart got back into rhythm on its own. They did labs and ran an ekg. He's getting a referral to cardiologist that is going to get him to wear a monitor. I'll keep yall posted but he is doing good for now.

Worth mentioning as a reminder, always know where your important stuff is for emergencies. I was rushing around the house looking for my purse/wallet buried under some clothes.
