Mihani, I get rid of bigger clothes too once the smaller stuff fits good. If you really want to learn to play golf, take a few lessons - you'll at least learn the proper grip and a few swing basics to get you started. So happy for you that everyone is back in your office, I hope it stays that way for a while.
Carla, that dish looks great, and the coconut basmati rice sounds delicious. I hope you don't get snowed in.
I had a call from my doctor yesterday - she wanted me to redo the potassium test. I did it yesterday and got the results today: all's good, it's right in the middle of the normal range. Turns out sometimes if you clench your fist during a blood draw the muscles can release a large amount of potassium into the blood stream and you get a false high reading. So thankfully everything's normal, and I can get back to polishing off the rest of the kale-laden soups I have in the fridge :D
Marilyn, love today's encouraging words, thanks.

OH boy, you ladies are so wonderfully chatty and I am so behind.

First of all...this is hysterical: (I posted it on my facebook page, @Marilynsretired ) jn395v0ztcxd.png

Love that your team is all pushing hard to get the work completed and it is not all falling on you, @Mihani!

My meals are so easy...maybe one day, I will be inclined to do recipes. Right now, basically throw whole foods together and see what happens. For me, it is to keep it as simple as possible and I will stick with it (as you can see when looking at my menus)

    today

    coffee with np
just egg with chao and a lot of spinach, corn salsa
    jasmine rice and roasted veg
    refried bean tostada
    ninja creami

I have the chair gym (HSN and now only Amazon)...and it is incredible...IT'S A BREEZE when I do leg exercises with my new left knee. Trying to do the same exercises with my right knee, nope!

But on 2/27/23...all that will change. Praying for the same fabulous results as my left knee.

Off to get some exercises in (chair gym and treadmill)…have a lovely day everyone, do make it delicious!

Spring, good idea on the golf lessons. Maybe I will do that this summer since my back is finally starting to get better. So glad to hear your second test had better results. Yay!

Nanc, we are kindred spirits on the cooking front. I mostly just throw greens, beans and whatever other veggies are handy into a pot or skillet with some garlic and spices and voila! Good on ya getting that workout in.

So busy and the days are going by so quickly! I am pretty sure I have all our MUST do deadlines covered but I need to spend some time the next couple days reviewing and making sure we haven't missed anything. Everyone is really pulling together to help get it all done though. I'll probably go to the office on Monday because nobody else will be there and I can get a lot done.

Stopped tonight to officially finish off my Christmas shopping. We are supposedly in for some nasty weather. Could be an inch of snow and a bunch of ice, could be 4 to 6 inches of snow. They don't know, I swear the weather reporters just try to stoke things up. I can handle snow but ice is awful and that's what they are mostly predicting. Then we could have power outages, roads will be slick and dangerous, etc.

I have a couple of busy days coming up (I'm sure you all do too), so I'm going to say it now:

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all who celebrate

Thanks, Spring. Merry Christmas to you too and to all of you here! I sure do appreciate all of you. You make this journey so much easier and more interesting. I am working tomorrow but from home as we're in for nasty weather, but hoping to take some time off over the weekend.

Oh goodness...back to work today...not feeling it, but my food is ready. A few processed goodies...but still loads of veg and potatoes.

My coworker/receptionist asked if I would work next Wed and Thur, my usual days off. She wants to go to CA to visit family. I said yes and she will work next Monday for me, giving me five days off in a row...Sunday (New Year's Day) through Thursday, January 5th. I need to get ready for four days in a row. I am so spoiled with work two days, one day off, work one day, and three days off. LOL Ahhh, the life of a semi-retired 74-year-old.

I am thinking of just spending Christmas with Lulu and not going to my sister's. That way she will get two walks...have company and I will not have to figure out what to bring to eat. So much less stress.

My niece and her family are coming in on 12/29 and I will bring all presents (ALL GIFT CARDS) over when they arrive. With my surgery coming up, my head is just in this mode of keeping everything as simple...and stress-free, as possible.
Wishing you all a Happy Hannukahmenorahsmiley.gif and Merry Christmas! xmaspalm.gif

Nice of you to take on your co-worker's shifts so she can take her trip, Nanc. Merry Christmas to you!

We're at a level 2 emergency so we're all staying home except my boss because he can't sit still. I was planning on working from home regardless. No sense running to the office for just a few hours with such awful weather. Lots of blowing snow and bitterly cold temps and icy. I didn't lose power so I'm happy to stay home safe and warm.

Next week I need to get back to better habits. I have missed weeks and weeks at the gym because of work and I'm eating a lot of frozen entrees, oats, ezekiel bread. I signed up for 4 classes next week and will force myself to get back at it. Once I start going again I'm sure my enthusiasm will return. I will likely just stick to salads, soups, smoothies and fruit for a couple weeks to make it easy.

Okay better get busy on work now!

Gosh, I can barely deal with the temps here when we get below 40...wait, below 50 LOL. You snow people are tough. Glad you are safe and warm...and prayersstmicel.gif that you stay that way.

We have at least 3 people on the sales floor out with something or other. People don't say if it's covid or not...but they are pretty sick. I just keep wiping my desk down and I don't allow anyone to sit near me...I think I mentioned I moved my second chair to the back so they DON'T.
    stockingsmiley1.gif

I am trying my best not to stray too far away from my good habits...but when it's the holiday, I just like to indulge a bit. I am going to keep it pretty on point today...but brunch tomorrow (going to my sister's for just a few hours...that way Lulu gets two walks and the meal will be easy) will be bagels and cream cheese (no lox...I did not plan ahead well enough to get Myokos UNLOX your dream cream cheese)...so going with Trader Joe's CC, tomatoes and onion on a toasted bagel.

Then probably salad and baked potato for dinner, at home. I am back at work at 7 on Monday morning.
One of the benefits of my still working is, I really can't stray too far off the path because my stomach just can't take it. And I hate being at work the next day feeling so awfuleggnogsantas.gif because I ate so poorly the day before.

But for those next ten pounds to come off, I am really going to have to buckle down. Back to oatmeal and homemade almond milk soon. Lunch and dinner are easy...just no more processed meats.

Mornin' Nanc... the weather here is awful! I don't mind snow so much but it is bitterly cold. Wind chills down to -26 yikes! Lots of blowing and drifting snow. I have to watch the boy carefully when he goes out and make sure he doesn't dawdle because it only takes a few minutes before his paws are frozen and he's limping. Must be fun to try to do his business with me calling out "hurry up, hurry up!" LOL

I'm with you on not trying to be toooo strict over holidays. I will enjoy dinner tomorrow. Not sure what my brother is making but it is always a really tasty vegan main dish and sometimes he'll make chicken or something for the omnivores. We don't do a big complicated meal at Christmas anymore with our small family. It's more about enjoying a relaxing day together, opening presents, eating, drinking wine.

Today is about work, laundry, doing some housework, etc. I'm going to make a grocery list and get everything on Monday so I can prep for the week. I don't really do much for New Year's Eve. Just get together with one of my brothers and we watch a movie and have dinner. I'm home in bed well before midnight.

I think the plan for next week will be oats with all the usual goodies for breakfasts, salad with baked potato and steamed veggies for lunches, smoothie for dinners. Will have cut up veggies and fruit for snacks as needed, and add protein powder to my smoothies on gym days.

Off to get busy. Tonight I plan to give myself a mini mani-pedi and a facial, drink some herbal tea. I'm past due for a little bit of pampering.

Mornin' All, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We had a very nice time here. Got some fun presents and I think everyone liked the gifts I got for them.

Still really cold but up into the low 20's today which is going to seem warm after the past few days. Supposed to get another inch of snow. The roads were still pretty bad in some places yesterday so I'm happy we are closed for the holiday and I can work at home today. Probably getting grocery delivery so I don't have to go out in this weather again until tomorrow.

Back on track today, no sense waiting for the 1st. I've been eating too much pasta and bread lately. Switching the starches to winter squash, potatoes, bean pastas, etc. and a lot more veggies and greens. Will treadmill today and have classes scheduled tomorrow and Thursday.

Not the greatest plan...making it very easy the next four days...

    coffee with np
gardein burger on Ezekiel (Old style burger...small ones...I can only find at Whole Foods)
Trader Joe's herb salad with stuff in it.
Lavash wrap...more salad stuff, stuffed inside.
    ninja pineapple

    covering today for a coworker...7 - 5

HOPE you are all safe...how are things in Washington, @Carla_wfpb

@Mihani , how goes the battle with the snow?

    We hopefully have rain today.

@Marilynsretired I love all the positive messages...Christmas Day (at my sister's) and the day after (at work)...crap city. I need to believe in myself more and KNOW that I am not the problem, and not let others get in my head. These are the times I so miss my mom...I try to think how she would be talking to me. It kinda works. And then there's Lulu...I don't know what I would do without her.
Today is a better day. The sting of insensitive, thoughtless peoples' remarks has dissipated a bit. tribal1.gif

I hope everyone had a great holiday, mine was quiet but nice. I didn't exercise or track food from Saturday through yesterday, but am back on track today. Yoga class and leg ST at the gym this morning and will be back to tracking my food today. My weight only went up one pound so I'm pretty happy about that.
Next year I'm going to focus on four health goals:
    1. lose the last 15 pounds (may just be 10, I'll see how I feel and look at the 10 mark and then decide if I want to go the extra 5).
    2. Increase flexibility
    3. Improve balance
    4. Build from a walk to a 5k jog/run.

Hi all. Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

We were snowed in through Christmas and ended up having leftover spaghetti for our Christmas dinner. We made up for it the next day when we managed to get out of the driveway and go out for brunch with Joe's family.

Too much splurging and not enough exercise. Tis the season. I'm hoping that a few days on plan will help my numbers before the end of month weigh-in.

This is just not my time of year. As I was struggling to write this, I stopped to order a Happy Light on Amazon. At least that's something easy I can do right now. Even though I've put on a few pounds, I went through my closet and tried on a bunch of things that fit in my smaller size. It helps with motivation. And I came up with some new combinations. I have a lot of clothes to wear but we never go out! Maybe I can make going out part of my plan for the new year.

Today I'm having a light food day. I've been fasting so far and I might just wait until dinner if that feels okay. We're having our garbanzo bean curry with baked tofu tonight.

Blocked out of groups for a couple days and missed you all! Glad to hear everyone had a nice Christmas.

Weather here is crazy! Minus teens for 4 days over Christmas, snow and high winds, etc. Then started warming up and yesterday it was in the 50's and all the snow has melted away.

I ordered some warm socks and thermal leggings. If we have another cold snap like that I am not going to freeze my butt off again.

Nanc, sorry to hear you had to deal with crap over Christmas, but yay for Lulu waiting at home to cheer you up.

Spring, love that you've set some solid goals for the new year. I need to revisit the goal setting worksheet they had me complete at the gym when I first joined.

Carla, I'm going to try your caramelized onions this weekend. I think it's in the recipes thread. I want to do some very simple meals for the next couple weeks. Batch prep roasted or steamed veggies, a grain, and beans/greens for bowls.

Off to work I go. Looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow. I've missed weeks and weeks with the work craziness.

    Morning all...

just a quick flyby...I was part of the group locked out...so happy to be back...

finally some good news...did not get the raise I asked for ... BUT

When my coworker and I went to three days working a week, I ended up with a split..work two days off a day, work a day...and she got four days off in a row

Yesterday, while covering for her, I thought...hmmmmmmm, wonder if she would agree to work Mondays so I could have four days off in a row...and she did. So...my schedule is:

    OLD
    work FRI/SAT
    Off Sun
    work Mon
    Off Tues Wed Thur

    NEW
    work Thurs Fri Sat
    OFF Sun Mon Tues Wed

YOU have no idea how happy I am...it will be life-changing, especially with a new knee in the new year...I am flippin excited!
    Have a great day, lovelies!

Still eating a few vegan goodies…not much

    Just shy of 8 weeks

Carla, was it the tahini caramelized onions that you were making often a while back? I found that in the recipes thread. I also googled a bit and found this method for oil free caramelized onions: https://sweetsimplevegan.com/how-to-caramelize-onions-without-oil/

A friend highly recommended this recipe: https://dishingouthealth.com/roasted-veggie-glow-bowls/ going to give it a try soon. He said the sauce is amazing and it's oil free. Easy enough to roast the veggies without oil as well. I don't usually use the avocado in bowls so I'll skip that. Sometimes I love avocado and other times I think it overwhelms a dish.

Tomorrow I'm making the OSG lentil stew which will get me through a few days. Also have veggies and lettuce for hummus wraps for lunches, and power greens and frozen fruit for smoothies.

Have two classes scheduled at the gym starting at 10 am. Will feel good to get back at that. Tonight is dinner and a movie with my brother. I'll be home in bed well before midnight.

Exciting news about your new work hours, Nanc!

MORNING...I had a pretty good sleep...that is a fab way to end the new year, for sure.

the menu is a mish-mash... a few really good things and a couple of vegan not-so-great items.

tomorrow, much better...going to start adding green juice to my day...haven't used my juicer in a while...and I have the next five days off, so out it comes! spinach, cuke, celery, green apple, lemon, ginger

Your day sounds lovely, Mihani...enjoy getting back to your exercise classes. I am going to hit my chair gym...strength training...again, build some momentum with five days off in a row...the five days is because I covered my worker's two days this past week. Anyway, it's a one time five days off in a row...totally excited.

Rain expected tomorrow...staying home with Lulu...I am sure there will be some time to walk her.

tonight, bed early...after a few episodes of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER ON NETFLIX. It's good, btw.

Have a wonderful last day of the year, sweet peas...talk to you later.

PS If you're looking for a short, fast movie that is pretty good...90 minutes...AGAIN, on Netflix...I recommend, Emily, The Criminal. I really liked it.
