HOW IT ALL WORKS: The February challenge runs from January 29 - Feb 25. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat thread. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members
How do I post my weigh in?
Userid
(Day of Week) Weigh-in
PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)
Where is the Weigh in stats spreadsheet?
Start at the Fat2Fit Main Page and under the header information, you’ll see a section at the bottom that says “TO ACCESS THE SPREADSHEETS FOR JANUARY CLICK HERE” followed by the link in blue. Once you click on that link, it will take you to the Summary page. Find Shape Shifters on the tabs at the bottom and click on that and that brings you to the stats page. Also on this page (scrolling down), you’ll find the Step Challenge chart as well. This is where we record your daily steps if you sign up to be part of the monthly step challenge. More info on how to sign up is below! Join us!
How often should I post in the chatroom?
Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!
What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?
Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.
What happens if I miss a weigh in?
If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if you explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.
How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?
Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple!
Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?
No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.
If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!
Welcome!
Jessica

I'd like to do the step challenge for February.

daily step goal: 10,000
favorite place to walk:
I have three favorite places when the weather is nice: two nearby parks and a rails-to-trails trail near my main gym. But when it rains, I'll have to either walk indoors at the mall or walk on a treadmill, neither of which I'm that crazy about, but I gotta do it.

Sunday weigh-ins
PW: 164.7
CW: 165.3
Unfortunately, my weight started to slowly go up from the beginning of the week. Though I tried to keep a positive mindset about it and kept telling myself that it’s ok for my weight to slightly fluctuate and that it will eventually go down again if I stick with my eating and exercise plan, I went off program for the last two days…
I’m not very surprised by the weight gain but I’m quite disappointed that I can’t seem to stick with an eating plan if it doesn’t involve constant „gratification“ in the form of at least a little weight loss every day 🤦🏼♀️
Did my planned workouts for the week, giving them my all, and at least didn’t go overboard completely regarding calories. So I‘ll take that as a non scale win 🤷🏼♀️
Jumping right into my healthy eating plan for the upcoming week and heading to the gym with my husband now :-).2 -

I would like to enter the steps challenge this month as well ☺️

Daily step goal: 8.000
My favorite place to walk is the inner city of Vienna. I try to walk between appointments I have in the city. Sometimes you’re even faster walking from one district to the other than if you used public transport.
@jessicakrall8 How often should I post my steps? Every 2-3 days or everyday? Which is easier to track for you? It must be a nightmare to scan all the posts for infos on weigh ins and steps 😅🙈
And it seems you hardly ever miss anything amidst the countless comments in our group chats. Thank you for this!

And a big THANK YOU to the whole group. In the past, I would change my eating and exercise plan, stick to it for a while, even lose a few lbs, then somehow slip… and quit altogether, gaining the lost lbs (and more) back in no time.
Not this time… I feel like I‘m part of a group (well, I AM part of a group 😅) and I’m in it for the long run. This group motivates me so, so much, I can’t tell you how grateful I am. It’s incredibly helpful to see that there are other people who struggle and have actual lives (that sometimes get in the way) too and I‘m always so happy to see all the good stuff that’s happening in all your lives.
I’m a bit self conscious about posting longer comments because English isn’t my native language and in the past I was afraid someone might judge grammar mistakes, but I guess that’s a fear that’s only in my head. I‘ll try to be more active in the group going forward.
But even as a „silent“ participant, this group helped me so much in developing a healthier mindset regarding weight loss and helped me keep my sanity in this sometimes very unrewarding quest to my feel-good-weight.
Thank you ❤️4 -
@TexanMom8152
Good on you for Dry January! I made it to January 3- lol. I think it's a huge factor in my weight and generally bad for my health so one of my goals in Feb is to have alcohol no more than 2 nights a week. I don't drink a ton, but I drink pretty regularly, and its gradually increased over the years. Thank you Covid.
@Bumbinella - You're English is great! Do not be embarrassed! Blame any mistake on autocorrect- that's what I do and it is my native language!
@jessicakrall8 I'll join the step challenge this month! It tends to make me a slave to my smart watch, but I kind of am anyways....

Goal: 10,000 steps

Hello Shape Shifters!
My name is Laura, I am 34 years old and I live with my cat Tinus in a small village in the Netherlands. I like reading fantasy books, singing, jigsaw puzzles, photography, postcrossing, drinking a lot of tea and being in nature.
I started gaining weight after a horse riding accident which left me unable to do any exercise for over a year. Mentally I wasn't in a great place either and that is something I will always struggle with. The past two weeks have been pretty bad with food, so I am going to try extra hard this month. On the plus side, I have been managing to workout fairly regularly.
Highest weight: 247.0
Current weigh: 218.3
End of February goal: 210.3
Other goals: 17.000 daily steps, remember vitamins, calorie deficit, be in bed by 21:00, eat 100% plant-based and 4 workouts a week
I wish everyone good luck with their February goals!2 -
Hello Shape Shifters! Welcome back @kerdil08. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and learning more about your health goals and challenges. We’re all working on different nutrition and fitness changes, but we’re on this path together. Please let us know how we can best support you.
@Bumbinella - As someone who only speaks one language - English - proficiently, I agree with everything @SavageMrsMoose wrote. The best thing about this group is that nobody judges anyone else.
I love the message that @jessicakrall8 posted above. I might want to improve the person I am but it’s not a good use of my time trying to be someone else. Thanks for all you do for the group @jessicakrall8. I ‘second’ the comments from @Bumbinella — I’m in awe of all the threads, numbers, and lists you manage!1 -
@TexanMom8152 and @SavageMrsMoose - Congratulations on your new approaches to reducing alcohol consumption. I’ve gradually realized that I feel more sluggish the day after drinking alcohol, even if it’s just one or two drinks. Sometimes, I like to have a beer or glass of wine with a particular meal - or enjoy a glass of eggnog or Bailey’s on a holiday or sitting by a fire - but sipping a cup of tea is also a nice way for me to relax.
I still drink alcohol because it’s such as big part of social events, but I prefer social interaction that’s more active - like walking or exploring a new site. It’s probably just because I’m older now and don’t have the energy I had in my 20’s but I definitely appreciate the empty calories I’ve saved by drinking less. I know it also reduces the risk of cancer and many other health problems.
It doesn’t have to be alcohol that I substitute but it’s important to track my calorie intake and find substitutions that I can live with forever. I’m trying to eat fruit as a dessert treat more often because 200 calories less each day makes a big difference for me. If I go over my target range, I gradually gain weight. Since my clothes are starting to feel snug, I’ll need to pay more attention to making small adjustments I can integrate into my daily habits.
Best wishes with your dry - or drier - February!1 -
Gm yall. Weather, weather and more weather we will get in my little piece of this world. Smh. Will Mother Nature and Jack Frost ever come to an agreement?
@jessicakrall8 , Betty is adorable. As an owner of an almost 11 year Ole Male Tabby named Mr. Psalms, I can tell you tabby are extremely affectionate with their owners. And bedtime snuggles are nothing unusual. It's a favorite thing to do for them.2 -

@bumbinella I have you added to the challenge for Feb. May I have your first name for the chart please? Sounds like a great use of extra time between appointments. I walk before work to wake up and after work to de-stress...if it's cold or rainy though, I'll do a walk video or walk indoors.
I'd like to everyone to post ever 2-3 days, that way I'm not keying in lists of 7-10 days at a time. Just makes it easier. I've missed a couple of posts, but usually because I'm making a posting at the same time as someone else and the other one doesn't get flagged as "new" for my bookmarks. I blame online gremlins, but I do feel bad when someone has to remind me or make an extra posting to call my attention to one I missed. It does happen though...wish I could say it doesn't!
Welcome to the fun! Good luck this month!

Good morning Shape Shifters. I did a good amount of cleaning on Sunday. Tinus went upstairs to sleep on my bed, so that was a good time to start. He is very afraid of the vacuum cleaner so I much rather use it when he isn't nearby. It was nice to clean with the windows open and some incense burning. The rest of the day wasn't very interesting. Tinus was very lazy and slept on my lap a lot. I was very tired and not feeling great, so I went to bed early with a book. Happy Monday everyone3 -
Hi everyone, I am back to try this again. My name is Kevin and I live in London, Canada. I used to work in an office downtown, that I had to walk to and from my car and or ride my bike to work. But because of covid, I am now working from home. Because I am not getting as much exercise and more food to eat at home I have put on weight. So now I have to lose it. I have been trying the Intermittent Fasting route for the last couple of weeks and have lost a couple of pounds because of it. This is likely due to the fact that I am eating way less in the evenings, which is my ultimate goal.
If anyone is looking for more MFP Friends then feel free to add me.7
