@ashleycarole86 those were 2 ports we sailed to (in addition to Newport, RI, Bar Harbor, ME, and Halifax, Canada)! That's awesome we basically walked that entire distance!
I went to body pump today and omg...my body was not ready for that. After the second track doing squats, I felt like I had run a marathon! The crazy part was, my cold was mostly in my head/nose, I hardly coughed. But when I mowed on Thursday, I got short of breath, and then today I got short of breath doing weights. I guess I need some more time to recover? In good news, I ate according to plan today!6 -
I think I OD'd on apples today. They're really good fresh off the tree, and I was making applesauce. Tons of it.
I think I'll take a break from apples tomorrow! I am way, way ahead on my apple a day...5 -

Hi Team,
I hope this note finds you well and that you've had a fabulous summer. I have missed the group and all the support that you offered me throughout ny weight loss journey. For those that have joined the team in the time that I stepped away, I am the proud husband of @ashleycarole86.
We had a lot of fun this summer - lots of fun trips. Ash did her first gran fondo bike race and has already signed up for her next one with me - the Okanagan Gran Fondo in July 2024. We both finished it this year, but the lack of pre-event conditioning and 38c heat made it really tough. I could not have been more proud. We got to explore BC more this summer - it is my hope to retire there someday. I can't deal with the Alberta cold...
Last week I competed in the Vancouver-Whistler gran fondo and it was MUCH harder than last year. I struggled badly, but did finish. I have gained back about 35 lbs since I competed last year. The extra weight going down the huge hills on the Sea-to-Sky highway wasnt so bad - seemed to make me faster... but dragging those extra pounds back up those monster inclines was relentlessly cruel. It was a serious wake-up call that I've lost a lot of my conditioning and have slid quite a bit. I think things went downhill during our 3 weeks of indulgence earlier this year in Costa Rica to celebrate my 50th birthday. This combined with a ton of work travel and far less time for cycling has been a recipe for disaster.
With this in mind, I've decided I need to rejoin the group and get back to the focus and dedication that saw me lose nearly 100 pounds a couple of years ago. I recently had my annual physical and my doc made me promise I'd turn this back around - being in a medically termed "normal" weight range is my pursuit. Thankfully, lake season is almost over for the year - this tends to be another rough spot where I don't track as well. Ash and I have talked a lot about how we need to get back to our regular hikes in the mountains this winter too. We didn't do a lot of that last year.
Humbly, I ask for you to let me "come home" and for your moral support and encouragement. You are amazing and I missed you.

Wrong direction! Grrrr. Iβm overtired, under exercised, and still fighting off whatever sore throat thing Iβve had all week. Sarah and I drove down (and back) to Massachusetts yesterday to meet with her estranged 96-yr.old father and his second wife and stepdaughter. It was a strange combination of stressful and relaxed. There are a lots of legal issues in that can of worms, I can tell you!
I made good choices for lunch (Bertuccis isnβt known for low-caloric meals) but blew it coming home trying to stay awake with half-caf-coffee and a peanut-chocolate bar. At least it had some protein with the peanuts!
Iβll touch base a bit later-just wanted to report in this morning.

Dang Mexican food! It'll take 3 days to get all of this sodium out of my system.
My boy had his 29th birthday yesterday. I spent the whole day babysitting his toddlers and then we met for dinner.4 -
Last day of exercise stats for week 2:
Sep 16:
5218 steps + 67 minutes Peloton
As Brad mentioned, our meals aren't as good at the lake. We had this place when we lost the weight, so we know we can do it. One example is that we keep forgetting to bring our food scale which shouldn't mean anything much except I know for me I sort of treat it as a "oh well, guess I can't track". Which is silly.

Tuesday: 3,439
Wednesday: 4,448
Thursday: 7,226
Friday: 4,268
Saturday: 3,327 + 60 min body pump class
Wow, it's crazy how many more steps I got while cruising. Although I have been sick too, so definitely hope to have more this week.

We squeaked out a 3rd place! Our top 3 had a lot to do with that - thanks @MaddawgMadsen @Gidgitgoescrzy and @eggfreak - spread that energy around and let's see if we can average a half pound loss per person this week. That would be a team loss of 14 pounds. I know that the week has already begun, but most of the weigh-ins are Thursday-Sunday so we can aim for that easily. Give it a go!
We enjoyed a day of perfect weather today - Jasper and I had a quiet, relaxed ride in the sunshine. We hit all the trail highlights - around several ponds, up to the big field with the best view, and through the woods. It was not a big workout, but it sure felt lovely.
@ashleycarole86 - if you forget your kitchen scale, no excuse!! Use your hand. Palm is a good size for protein (the palm without the fingers!), thumb for fats, fist for grain or starchy veg, and double handfuls (at least!) for all the veggies of several colours. Then log it. I know there are tons of sources for the hand/portion method and most of them are way, way, way too skimpy on vegetables in my opinion, but it is a handy tool once you have an idea of the weight of the portions you ideally eat. You've got this!4 -

Hi All
Last week was busy, I do alot of work with COVID and we are seeing it on the rise lately, Hope everyone stays healthy this fall because there are some cold/flu viruses that want to set you back.
I agree with things going sideways at the lake @ashleycarole86, I was at the lake this weekend and the salt overload was real this morning with my weigh in.
I have been making some great changes with getting up and doing my Peloton workout, I love being in a fitness challenge because it makes me workout to a prescribed plan. Eating has been better with the late night snacks but could be better and something I'm more aware of, will be working on that this week.

@cleaneater80 - It is true there are some nasty cold/flu viruses out right now. I was sick two weeks ago and am still feeling it.
Here are my step & activity counts:
Sunday, 9/10/2023 - 1,539, very little activity - recovering from illness
Monday, 9/11/2023 - 6,160, 2.5 hours of bowling
Tuesday, 9/12/2023 - 7,707, 60 minutes CrossFit
Wednesday, 9/13/2023 - 3,214, 2.5 hours of bowling
Thursday, 9/14/2023 - 5,633 spent most of the day in the car, ended the day with video golf
Friday, 9/15/2023 - 7,815 morning workout at hotel gym, vendor event (on feet all day), Top Golf
Saturday, 9/16/2023 - 12,334 golf tournament
Tomorrow is my weigh-in day and I do not think it will be as good as last week. We had a long drive to Denver, Colorado for an open-house and golf tournament hosted by our sister company. I had over two weeks of not drinking before the event and was eating really well. During the weekend, I definitely had a lot of drinks and ate more food than I should have. But, you know what they say, "when in Rome" (or this case, Denver). I am back on track today and plan to stay this course despite lots of eating out next week when our company's owners are in town from Germany.6 -
Happy Monday all!
I am setting the best of intentions this week by starting my morning with a pumpkin pie protein bowl. It has: real pumpkin for all that fiber, protein powder, Greek yogurt and soy milk for all that protein goodness, banana for sweetness, and then topped with pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds for fat, and some sliced apple and apple crisps for crunch. This was such a fulfilling meal that I felt satiated for 4 hours, which is what my dietician recommends.

Hello everyone! It has been a rough start to the school year. Our entire therapy team is very full so we did some last minute moving around. This delayed getting students started and made some of us grumpy. Tomorrow I see students and my bag of toys is packed already. Food has been good. I'm not hitting all of my food goals but I am making progress. I also started walking some days and running others. I'm just being really careful as I just got through a 9 month bout of plantar fasciitis. I did skip one run. My body is still adjusting to sitting in tiny chairs. Tight hips bother my knees, annoyed knees might make me agitate my foot. I'm sure that in a week I will be in tiny chair shape in no time! My big goal this week is to not run out of weekly points on my weight watchers food log.7
